How to unlock the Monovision Massacre achievement in Iron Brigade - Definitive Guide

This achievement requires you too kill 3500 Monovisions (Tubes). As you might recall if your in Africa the first level Oasis introduces you to Knobs. Knobs are little rolling balls that attack your nearest emplacement or base. Each of these counts as a kill, and they come in waves of 10+ and are very simple to kill. Throughout this mission many waves of them come. So I think this is the best level to get the achievement on. It also helps to kill these in large groups with (Artillery) or with (Machine Guns).

Just a note, this will pop mid-match when you hit it.

I've killed 2748 tubes with my weapons and 1372 with my emplacements (thats a total of 4120 kills). I guess only weapon kills count?

Not true. Unless you mean the DLC too - I had to grind this out as my last achieve in the main game.

No need to grind this one out really. It'll just come over time if you are going for all the other achievements.

You need to kill 3500 Monovisions for this. All maps and weapons count towards this.
+Emplacement turrets are good for racking up numbers especially flak turrets against aerials. Upgrade them as often as possible for maximum efficiency. (this also helps you get razputin) When playing with other people your upgrading others turrets make them yours for kills. Be wary that this really ticks some people off.
+Dampeners slow enemy down and make them easy targets for turrets by keeping them in range. Throw them right in the paths and upgrade for maximum range
+Machine guns: My bread and butter, especially when you get shredder and flak varieties. Best used when aimed at groups and there will be a lot of them. Personal favorite is "Razor of the Gods" that has flak and shredder. Some people have brought these and only these to a fight. Don't do that, put something else on the other side. Unless your an engineer chassis then use all you can carry (2)
+Shotguns: short range and slow fire rate make these the least used. Good for single target stragglers like Jacobs. Higher end ones are slug shot and work like a short range sniper. I tend to use them to fill space under a sniper to use on bigger guys like Willie. Also good for quickly putting down blitzers and the wormy guys that gas and stun turrets.
+Sniper Rifles: To use when you need to take out a small number fast. Snipe tuners always sit on a ridge and Jacobs follow at the back of a pack. Thats the time to fine aim and snipe them out. Two come to mind that sit atop the rest. "Gungrir" is best when legs have quickload, great for bosses and final wave guys like Willie, Bertha and Volt Dropper. "Wolverine" is better suited for rapid firing and the occasional ricochet kill. A pair of these saw me through most boss fights.
+Grenade launchers: Arc these into crowds and watch the shrapnel fly. Breakers need something explosive to take the outer layer off and this fits the bill. "Sassy Basket" has a magnet ability that means it's a bit heat seeking, very useful.
+ Artillery: Grenade launchers big brother. Works the same but all the numbers the higher, except reload time. Most maps you can get 2 shots on resistors before they start knocking on your base, make them count. The "King" may have the highest damage but "Mr. Pancakes" has an unlisted magnet ability and works like a carpet bomb blasting a line along it's path.
+Broadcasters: What they lack in punch they make up in reload speed. Doesn't reload just recharges. When a pack is standing beside you it hits the whole group. Very useful to quickly remove Knobs and decent for chipping away at Willie and Berthas (definitely then slow ability). Also good for Aerials if your aim isn't that great, but you have to get right under them. "Bugflipper" slows them down and makes them explode then they die. Fun when you can pace a group and take them out en masse. Not used as often online due to short range. I like it but most don't.

Enemies!
Resistors: large numbers and easy targets, Don't let them sneak past you. (any guns)
Blitzers: They gallop up to you and explode, it hurts a lot. dying is a horrible distraction and time waste. (no broadcasters anything else is fine)
Breakers: Slow and armored. Blow away the armor and the run faster and die faster. (Explosives first then anything else, or just a lot of anything else)
Aerials: More an annoyance then anything else, they move a lot and die fast. (Flak turrets and machine guns)
Volt Dropper: big scary version of Aerials. Hit them hard and fast before it bombs your base. (flak again, but a lucky artillery hurts them nicely) lost a few gold medals to this sucker.
Snipe Tuners: they sit on a high ridge and hit you
Jacobs: They stay at the back of the group and shield the rest. Take them out first even if it means running to the back of the line then hit what they were protecting. (Anything really but a sniper helps if you're good)
Big Willie: Slow and armored and does a lot of damage if it gets to your base, Dampeners mean you get at least one clean shot. (Anything, just a lot of it)
Bertha: Spawns Knobs as it walks. treat it like a Big Willie (Broadcasters keep the knob population down while you hit it with other stuff)
Knobs: Small rolling mines that go after you or your turrets. sometimes stop in walkways for you to walk into (Broadcasters were made for these but shotguns and machine guns work too)
Tommy: Resistors with guns. treat the same but with higher range
Burst Transmitter: these guys will hunt your turrets but not camouflaged ones like mines. (anything with range)
Arty: Willie with a cannon, you have to work faster because it stops short and opens fire.

A Monovision is just what the enemies are classed as. You will end up with around 2,000 kills by the end of the campaign. The second last mission 'Volcano' has by far the most enemies and waves, farming for kills is best done on this mission.
