How to unlock the Far Out Field Goal achievement in Kinect Sports Season Two - Definitive Guide
The hardest part about this achievement is actually getting to the 40-yard line. Use the first three downs to set yourself up at the 40 yard line (if you find yourself too close to the end-zone, take a sack until you are back to the 40 because each will be for a 10 yard loss). When attempting to kick the field goal, line up and kick straight forward with your leg. Do not pull your leg back, this tends to cause the kinect issues and lessen the distance the ball will travel.
My attempt was from the 45, so don't think that you have to be right on the 40, but anything beyond 49 yards from the end-zone will require a punt from the game.

I agree with @Orran Durai...space makes all the difference.

I'd add that I tried at the 46 and could only punt and not kick a field goal.

How do you actually get a strong kick? I am a little cramped for space, which might be my problem. But I can't seem to either kick straight or far enough to score a field goal from 40 yards back (so therefore a 57 yard field goal).

To add to the above solution, if you are always missing to the right and you are using your right foot, switch to your left foot. For me and my buddy Sawman it put it right down the center. Good luck!

I scored my goal on 44 yards and it wasn't even close so I think it's possible to score it also on 45 yards. Game doesn't even give you change if you are further than 45 yards. It only offers flight kick and it's not possible with it.
Try to get around 20-45 yards at your firts or 30-45 yards at second try. Once you are somewhere around then check how many tries you have left. I started 25 yards where I got first try. It's easy if you take long pass and pass ball to right. In my case I only have to take sack and I think it's not full 10 yards or game bugs because after 2 sacks I was in 44 yards. Then just do as good kick as you can and should be no problem. There is now DLC and it contains kick game. You can practise your kicks with it.
If you are not that lucky with your position e.g you are on 33 yards at your first. What you can do is get sack once and then you are on 43 yards (or 42 yards). After that take long pass strategy and throw but you have to miss it. It doesn't count as sack and that means you stay at 43 yards. Then it's time to kick!

You’ll want to be as close to the opposition's 40 yard line as possible, again doing whatever you can to set this up. Once at the 40-44 yard line, throw incomplete passes until 4th down. You’ll need a powerful kick, yes, but accuracy is more important. Kinect seems to have trouble detecting these kicks but calmly keep trying. You have plenty of time to kick.
