How to unlock the Day C achievement in Kingdom: New Lands - Definitive Guide
I recreated this glitch on day six, on the first island. Just run to the dock, stand in the position of the first picture. Spend your money along the way to speed things up. Once you hit day five, a blood moon should happen allowing the greed to persist through sunrise. At this point your crown can get knocked off you, falling into the water, or land on the dock behind you. If it falls in the water, you lose, so try again. If it hits the dock, theres a good chance it will pop back up on your head. The second picture shows that you can run forward away from the crown to prevent that. Good luck!
Well, it isn't. At least not really. What it is, is time consuming. Takes several hours. But, they go by fairly quickly if you do something else at the same time. I, for example, had my laptop and was watching youtube videos.
Anyways, you'll want to do this on the first island. Nice, and simple. Enemies come from 1 direction, and you can freely do what you will with the other side.
Here is my advice.
1) Expand a couple of walls outwards in the direction the enemies will come from. You don't need too many, but you do want a place for your troops to retreat if necessary. Do note that I never had my wall completely fall, though.
2) Get about 7 builders. 2 for the catapult on the portal side, and the rest for your general building purposes. That's all you'll really need. (You'll do a couple more if you want to worry about the boat, which I did. As soon as I hit 100 I left).
3) I did this entire thing with only 2 farmers. Depending on how much money you get the first 30 days, this may be all you need as well.
4) The rest are archers. Every day, make sure you pick up at least 1 guy. In total there should be 2 camps, so you should end up with quite a few people. I myself also made knights, but honestly they're not necessary. We're not going to be attacking the portal.
5) Clear the area directly outside you wall, and make sure you actually go a fair ways. Bunnies will spawn in the field outside you walls, and they make a lot of money the first 30 days. Once you hit winter though, you'll start to find money to be a bit more scarce. This is why the couple farmers are useful.
6) Store your money. Store a lot of it. You should be making a ton with the rabbits every day. So don't let yourself overflow, make sure you bank it. You'll never run out if you do.
7) Make sure the Archer statue is always upgraded late game. Once you have all you defenses in place, you won't even need to go watch the attack. You should be confident in you troops ability to whether the attack. After all, I never had a wall fall.
At the very least make sure it is always fully upgraded for the blood moon every few days (mine ended up offset by 2 at the end. So, instead of a Blood Moon on day 100, for example, it would have been on day 102).
8) Use the Archer Towers. Fully upgraded. Make sure your outermost wall has an archer tower behind it, close enough to shoot the enemies. It really is helpful. They take down the flyers pretty quickly.
9) Make sure you get things done quickly late game. The attacks will start to stretch on into the day, so you'll have less and less time before the sun goes down. At day 100, my sun was about 3/4th of the way off the screen when the attack ended.
10) My final tip. It's more of an emphasis on 9. There will be lag. Like, a bunch. So, during the final waves you won't really be able to do anything until the wave is done. You can move well enough, but interacting with things is veeerrrryyy sloooowwww.
That's all I really have. It was actually really easy. I got it on my first attempt. I may have just got lucky with my map generation though, so if you aren't, don't be afraid to try again. Once you get going, it's really simple.
-Advice on the banker was spot on though. Every time I deposited gold, I thought I would eventually hit a storage cap and kinda wasted gold instead of purely depositing. Needless to say, there's no storage cap and you can store an infinite amount of gold until winter begins. Using the 2nd island, winter hit me around day 36 but I was able to stash enough gold to last me till day 100 making sure the archer statue was fully activated every single day.
-Rather than using an archer tower, flyers would just eat up your troops or your archers would keep on trying to man the tower... such a waste. I ended up building a wall a little out from my base camp towards the mountain portal and found it to be less laggy during the final 20 days. When you've amassed more than 300 archers total (maybe even just 300 on one side ), they were able to laser down any of the flyer/giant greeds within seconds. I was also able to get the knight to sacrifice themselves (or the giant greed smacked them from behind the wall somehow) that way the 4-6 archers following them could be useful and not run away at the first sign of trouble.
-I guess an update from release to now has made it so farms don't generate money during the endless winter days? With a proper map generation, I didn't really see a need for farms when mass bunny farming should suffice.
All in all, OP is right about it being super time-consuming. RNGeezus plays a huge role in the bonuses you can find as well as access to recruits and bunny lands. Clear dockside, set up a decent defense (I found that only 1 wall is needed if your army is big enough), stash gold like there's no tomorrow, mass train archer army and you should hopefully be able to weather the storm to day 100. Archer statue is a must imo otherwise your archers will have that terrible aim of theirs.
To reach the 100th day achievement, I would recommend the following:
1) The most important is to have the unicorn mount. It will give you 3 coins every time you let your mount feed on grass. I had a few tries with a bear and a stag but the unicorn is best for those times you might run out of coins. So play through a few islands first to find the unicorn mount.
2) Have the Bakery Hermit with you. To reach a troop volume over hundreds, you need a baker to lure in the beggars. If you cut down the trees, make sure you leave one tree to each side of the camps.
3) It was recommended to try this with the first island but I didn’t survive there long enough as the winter started on day 30. When I tried in the 4th island the winter started on day 45 and I lasted to 101 day. Do note that you need an island with an archer statue, otherwise it’s up to you.
4) I would recommend a lot of farms, even on mountain portal side with no cottages (upgraded farms). Bank all the coins you have extra, don’t let any of it to go waste or overflow your money bag. I started banking coins on day 3 by giving at least 10x coins to the banker per day (the banker will then run to save it). According to stats my biggest saving was over 1600 coins and still on my last day the vault was full and the coin stack never went down. So, I was more than prepared. During the winter the vault will be your only income as the farmers abandon their scythes and animals stop spawning.
5) If you have portals on both sides (other than 1st land), try to attack evenly on both sides. I know you would be tempted to attack the dock side only but try to even out the sides. Since you will have good defense on both sides it’s easier to take in attacks on both sides than only on one side, if it makes any sense. For example, if you have 2 portals on mountain side and 2 on dock side: attack one from mountain side, defend and then attack one from dock side, defend and repeat. I had only 1 extra wall on my mountain portal side and even if it did fall, the enemies didn’t wipe out my whole town.
6) Have your ship ready as soon as possible. This is your plan B if your town gets overrun. You might need to start over again but take the baker, knights and unicorn mount with you for another try. I had to try a few times and it’s easier if you have a plan B. Make sure you have enough coins to departure; the unicorn will save you in the next land if you don’t have a bag full of coins when you leave the island.
7) If you have the dock side cleared from portals, don’t cut down the trees. Build a wall in a clearing between the forest. Your hunters will then kill every deer that spawns in the forest and when you run out of farmers, you can run to the dock side to collect the coins from the hunters. If you are not in a hurry, it doesn’t matter if the ship takes more time to go through the forests.
8) Clear the mountain portal side forests. I’m not sure if this is truly correct but for me it seemed that the enemies didn’t even have the time to attack since it took so long for them to run from the mountain portal. It could be that they are slower in an open field rather than in the forest. I didn’t have time to test run it as I didn’t want to take any risks in the completion.
9) For defending I would recommend upgrading the archer tower behind the outer wall to a Ballista with the Ballista Hermit (feathered cap). Remember to have extra builders as they will prefer the unmanned ballista over unfinished/broken buildings. If you need to expand, make sure you always have an archer tower BEHIND your outer wall.
10) Whenever you run around the map, remember to stop on grass if your mount is starting to be exhausted. Once it feeds on grass, it has full stamina again. Remember this even when you are being chased by Greed. It might give you a way out so your mount doesn’t get fully exhausted.
11) Lastly, don’t take any big risks. Especially in the beginning, if you have enough coins to set up a well defended camp, don’t explore beyond the first portals. You will find yourself cornered quite quickly if you are too eager to explore the whole island during the first days.
These might be the main points, I don’t think I have anything more to add. By the day 60 you will be quite bored but keep recruiting new archers and save your coins for incidents etc. After you have lots of archers you will experience a LOT of lag. Sometimes I struggled to even drop a coin. So be prepared to work slow in that lag!
-Go to Island 3 with, preferably, a full bag of gold.
If island 3 has the Ballista Tower Hermit and the archer statue, AND 3 Refugee camps, You are in the clear, so to speak.
1) As Soon As Possible pick a direction with a stream, and start clearing trees.
You want 7-10 Farmers (Scythebearers) farming for at least 15 days, so the faster the better on making them.
Make sure to clear some trees out in front of your walls so your archers can hunt rabbits for extra income.
2) Once you get your Main Building upgraded to 4, the Treasurer will spawn at your base. Give him any extra Gold you have, As he has infinite gold storage, and you do not want to be dropping coins in the river cause your bag is full.
-Build Up a Nice Gold Stash in your main base because Winter Never Ends, effectively making your income per day 0 coins for 60% of the playthrough, so you will need stored coins.
3) Make Sure you build a tower to level 3 to turn into the bakery asap, Its extremely helpful, cutting down travel time for the player, per day by 90%. And you are going to need A LOT of archers.
4) Defense
Pick a Spot with a Tower behind a Tall Stone Wall for your ballistas, One on each side will be good enough.
Do Not Buy Catapults. I Realized the Big Spawner enemies can grab the catapult rocks and hurl them at your front line, murdering people.
Do Not Build Normal Towers, as the flyers in the game Will eat the archers out of them with ease.
- They also eat the builder out of ballista towers, but losing a few builders over the course of 20-30 days is wayyyy different than one flyer eating 3 archers a night.
5) Attacking Portals
I destroyed the two portals inbetween me and the dock, just in case I had to boogy at some point, But I dont think it was necessary.
- I would free up whatever side the archer statue is on so you can freely add money to it any time of day.
I read somewhere you can attack the cliff portal to stop enemies from spawning for days at a time, but you end up losing a few archers when you do that and its not worth the people.
6) Survivng Til the End
a) If you run of of bread at the bakery, buy more. All game.
b) When winter hits, fields can not be worked, after an amount of days your scythebearers will drop their scythes. They can now be converted into more archers!
c) In Winter you Must only spend money on three things.
- Archer Statue Buff Must be On Always.
- However many archers you have, thats not enough, keep recruiting people, everyday.
- Buy More Bows, Cause you want more archers.
7) The End?
It will take a few tries, but I did not have the Wall Buff Statue, a good horse, catapults, knight towers, etc.
With The Rain of Pain a million archers sprays over that wall, I may not have needed the ballista towers either.
The Last 20-30 Days of playing these were my actions -
Day Start -
Grab a bag full of Gold from Treasurer.
Walk to bakery, catch first wave of villagers before they eat my bread.
Buy more Bread.
Walk over to Bow Rack, Replace bows new villagers just grabbed.
Walk to Archer Statue - Return it to full power.
(If you took forever [almost 2 days] you can sometimes get a 4 gold discount bumping the statue power level from almost 1 to 3)
Walk back to other wall to watch the nights greed wave attack me.
Repeat -
Goodluck, took me a few attempts to get it down too dw ;D
Surviving 100 days takes more time than skill. I recommend doing this on the first island (if you do use another island make sure to clear the dock side of portals early - I've lasted 100 days on the second island easily enough).
Build 2 tier 4 walls on either side of your camp along with 4 tier 4 archer towers. If you've managed to unlock the engineer upgrade the 2 towers facing the attacks to ballista towers and if you have unlocked the baker turn the furthest tower from the attacks into a bakery. (I had neither of these buffs)
Recruit about 5 builders: 3 for general repairs, building etc., and 2 to man the catapult on the side being attacked. If you have ballista towers recruit an extra builder for each tower that you build. You can recruit 2 knights on each side as well (especially if you want to escape the island on day 101), 4 farmers (build a fully upgraded farm on your safe side) and then turn all other recruits into archers.
During the summer days you'll probably have more coin than you can deal with, so make sure to give as many coins to the banker as you can. Build the boat before winter comes but don't launch it until around day 95. I also chopped down all the trees (leaving 1 either side of the lost souls camp) on the safe side as well.
Once winter comes your archers will no longer be able to hunt, your farmers should continue to farm (although my farmers stopped after a short period, not sure if a glitch or if that's changed since the pc version)
I would basically leave the game for 2-3 days and then ride out to the available lost soul camps to recruit them and then buff the archery shrine at the same time. I'd fed the banker enough coins so that money was never a problem recruiting new souls and the shrine was always buffed.
Towards the end of the game the game got really slow and laggy during the attacks but my walls held all the way until the final blood moon (day 96?) when the wall fell at the same time as the last greed was killed.
Once the achievement unlocked, I hopped onto the boat and sailed into the sunset!
Helpful Tips:
- It is best to do this on the second level, there is a merchant there who comes even in winter and gives 8 coins (though you will have to give one to him so that he will come again the next day). Plus, at the second level there is a stone improvement, which is simply necessary against the last waves in the red moon.
- It is best to arrive on the island on a unicorn with a full bag of money, 3 knights, a full set of archers and builders.
- You must have a grandmother who makes crossbow towers (upgrade the tower to the maximum, install a grandmother and for 6 coins she makes a ballista from the tower).
- We cut down forests left and right, leaving only one tree around the camps so that they do not disappear. Your main influx of money will come from archers who will kill hares.
- You can build farms, but in the winter you will have to spend a lot of money on new tools for farmers, who at some point will throw away their braids and become ordinary dudes. I had one farm and 5 farmers.
- Forget about the ship, you need to live to day 100, and not sail away. The only thing that can be done is to take it out of the ground so that grass begins to grow in its place and rabbits appear.
- You need to pump two walls towards the stone mountain and it is advisable not to pump anything towards the pier. Then both halves of the archers will be very close to each other - this is catastrophically important in the last days, when 10 bubbles arrive.
- Somewhere by the tenth day, you should have already broken the portals towards the pier and upgraded the entire kingdom, bought catapults, upgraded at least one tower for the ballista, bought stone walls, and a crowd of archers is running around.
- From the tenth day we begin to frantically save money - we run around at night collecting from the archers what they collected during the day and in the morning we give everything to the banker.
- Explore the island completely so you know where everything is. Watch out for the red moon. It is advisable when it starts to give money to the statues of archers or builders. The statue of archers improves accuracy; arrows stop flying past them altogether. The statue of the builders strengthens all the walls.
- When winter begins, do not forget to take money from the merchant every morning and give him a coin - he will be your only source of money until the very end.
- Use autosave. He will almost always return you a day before the failure.
PS Don't take coins with you! Otherwise, the monster will first knock them out and carry them away.
This method works regardless of the side on which the pier is located.
If everything works out, then just put the controller down and go about your business, since it takes approximately 7 hours to get the trophy in day 100.
