How to unlock the Prove it on the Field achievement in Madden NFL 18 - Definitive Guide

To do this you're going to pretty much have to be perfect in the Longshot finale because you're going to need the performance boosts. I got this with an A in Performance. I honestly can't think of a single pass I didn't make or a game I didn't win. (NoHeroes94 noted that he got an A- and still got this. So there clearly a little leeway. But you don't want to have to replay the whole story. I recommend restarting a scene if you miss something.)

DO NOT FREAK OUT. This does not pop for quite some time, until after Julia meets Devin to follow up for Longshot.

There are a total of five challenges. If you fail one, you can move on... but you can't get this achievement. If you fail, you can quit to the menu. However, there are no checkpoints in the finale. If you quit out, you're going to have to go back to the first challenge... before the 2 minute cutscene.

Each of these is a drive down the field. All of your receivers are solid. You just have to get it there. You don't get to call the plays until the 5th challenge, and you can't ever audible. The clock runs if you go down in bounds, so you're going to need quick yardage the entire time.

Motivation: You don't want to watch that 2 minute cutscene again.

One tip: After the 4th challenge is a decision that counts for an achievement. Whether you are failing or not, you're going to want to get to that point, so don't quit out until you've gotten to that point and chosen COLT (cn_B). Then you have to aim the ball.

Challenge #1: 4 minutes, 80-yard drive, score a TD or run out the clock.
Reality: You have to get a TD here. Your IQ and Performance don't go up if you run out the clock. The first play is always a run; one time I got lucky and Forsett ran all the way for a TD. That'll never happen again. Play calling can be annoying, because running plays eat up your clock. Be smart and heave the ball when you can.

Challenge #2: 2 minutes, 80-yard drive, must score a TD.
Reality: No frills, just heave it. Play calling is pass-heavy. You'll get a Performance and Grade boost for this.

In the middle of Challenge #2, you will have a QTE. Press cn_LT, then move cn_LS over to the nearest receiver and mash cn_X. You will earn a boost to Performance and IQ.

Challenge #3: 3 minutes, get to the 35, start at your 1-yard line.
Reality: The hardest part is the beginning. Get out of the end zone. 15 seconds run off if the ball is in bounds, so a little more forgiving but get that ball downfield. You get a Performance and Grade boost.

Challenge #4: 1 minute, start at your 40, score a TD. Do not throw to Colt.
Reality: Your other receivers are great if you hit them. Look for Johnson especially. The clock runs 10 seconds between plays, so you have NO time for throwing short passes. You can run if you have daylight to go deep. Your choice on what to do with Colt. Winning gives you a Performance and 2 Grade boosts.

Decision: Throw to Colt or Forsett.
Reality: Forsett is the right call. He gives you an IQ and and Grade boost.
HOWEVER: throwing to Colt is required for a separate achievement that you've needed to work toward all game. I suggest you pick Colt, then restart. Yeah. It hurts. Deciding to stay with your decision knocks down your IQ and Grade, so you're going to want to repeat it anyway.

Challenge #5: 1:30. Ball on the 35. You must score.
Reality: You don't have as much time as you think. Throw downfield. The AI seems to pick you off more often at this point. If you don't score, the game makes you play it again, but no achievement. Three times I got down here and ran out of time. Don't be me.

Best of luck!

Just a Hint: If you only want to get this achievement and the steel clear achievement, you can pass to colt at the challenge 5 without restart the whole finale( but you need to make sure you did not miss a pass or loss on other trails or games). I already got the High IQ achievement in my first run so the IQ grade is not necessary for me, the achievement pop up for me when I got a 5.9/10 grade with an A+ Performance and B- IQ.

Stayed up until 5am trying to get this and the first time I manage to do all the challenges the game freezes and I have to restart. Literally the only time the game has frozen after playing for 10 hours straight

Good news is I now have a much better understanding of how to play (from Australia and this is my first NFL game), got it today on my first attempt.

Noob Tip: stand completely still when throwing the ball.

Yeah, shockingly after spending an entire day on this, I got it on my first attempt the next day too.

I guess the mental break seriously helps. toast

Annoying you can't skip cutscenes or this wouldn't be too bad, watching 10 mins worth of cutscenes each time is infuriating,.

This is fucked. I missed one throw in the first regional combine, but completed literally everything else without a mess up and still got a B+

Does it count *every* incompletion against your performance grade? Cause that's fucking dumb.

I had a 9.9 draft grade.

Yeah, that's a bit weird if that's all you missed, but tbh I don't know how much each one is worth. I literally quit and restarted if I ever missed a pass or anything else during the game. I was worried about having to do it again. I still only got an A. I don't know how I could have gotten the A+ that some got.

This is shear torture.

Edit: Ugh... I finally knocked on the door and couldn't get in on the last one. Justin Forsett sucks...

Edit 2: It looks like you can fail the last challenge. I did and got the achievement (and the high IQ one anyway. Yay!

I played the whole game. Had A+ IQ and A for Performance, but I missed Challenge #4. I got the IQ achievement but not the Performance one.

I followed the walkthrough (exactly) on TA for this, but failed on the last challenge - the one it makes you repeat if you fail. I got both the performance and IQ achievements. I ended with an A+ on both and a 10.0 on grade.

Following NoHeroes's walkthrough, as well as this solution, I managed to unlock both this achievement and the High IQ one, finishing with a grade of 10, while failing Challenge #4 on the finale (without missing a single QTE / game before the finale).

So, missing one of the 5 challenges might still get you the achievements, if you have done everything perfect up until the finale.

Glad, I don't have to restart the finale and watch that 2-3 minutes cutscene all over again!

I failed Challenge #4 but still got a grade boost for not throwing to Colt. Completed all the other Challenges and QTEs in the game and ended with an A- and got the achievement. What a relief!

I failed Challenge #2 by getting intercepted on the QTE (made a pass complete before this in the challenge) and passed all the rest and it still unlocked, but not until the credits. Final Grades were 9.7/10 Football IQ A Performance A-

Right, @Sashamorning and others, I do apologise for making and deleting comments.

I can 100% confirm that A- is enough for performance. On my 5th attempt I got fed up after failing Challenge #4, and I loved Longshot so was willing to play through again, so at A+ IQ and A- Performance I just tanked it to the end. As state, I finished with an A+ in IQ and an A- in Performance, and both achievements popped (after getting drafted by my favourite team the 49ers haha).

I can't 100% confirm A- would be enough for IQ, but logic would seem to suggest that it would be the same score for both.

MISSABLE

This trophy unlocks at the start of the NFL Draft.

In order to finish the story mode with a great on field performance, a high football IQ, and a high draft grade; you will have to make very specific decisions as well as perform well while playing the game i.e. minigames, QTEs and tests. In order to achieve these trophies, you will need to follow a specific road map and not necessarily play the story the way you want to. US Gamer created a walkthrough that will get you drafted into the NFL (i.e. obtain these trophies). The guide to be drafted can found in this LINK.

If you want to unlock all of the Longshot trophies in a single playthrough you will need to do some creative saving/quitting. To be on the safe side back up your save when you get to the Finale (The final game). Play until you obtain the Steer Clear trophy. Quit after getting the trophy before the game can save. As I stated in the Steer Clear walkthrough, you had to force a pass to Colt to get the trophy. The problem is when you choose to support Colt and throw him the ball your draft and performance scores drop, you will not get drafted and miss out out on all of these trophies.

The solution is to play up until you unlock Steer Clear. Once you have the trophy quit the game. When you continue you will be back at challenge 1. Now follow the suggested actions and finish the story mode. This will save you an additional playthrough of non-stop un-skippable cutscenes.

You will need to restart this section if you screw up on anything. There are 5 challenges and you need to ace them all. The achievement will not pop until a bit later in the storyline though... so make sure you pay attention to your performance. From gamer Sashamorning:
