How to unlock the Simulated Hero achievement in Mass Effect 3 - Definitive Guide

Additionally to my guide below, Tomjeh commented about an easier solution:

Start a game against any enemy you like and with all the score modifiers you want (though I would recommend to use the M-7 Lancer for yourself if you disabling thermal clip spawns).
Before starting, set the combat difficulty to "Narrative", this will make the game laughably easy.
Play through the waves 1 and 2, in wave 3 kill all enemies apart from one.
Now set the combat difficulty back to "Normal" and kill that last enemy.
This should also unlock the achievement.
I haven't tried it myself so I can't confirm that it works.

Again, special thanks to Tomjeh for pointing this out.

---

I found this setting quite easy to get the achievement:

- Map: Wingman
- Enemy: Reaper (need to buy with Silver Token)
Note that you can choose any enemy you want but I found Reapers to be easiest.
- Challenge: Super Elite (need to buy with Gold Token)
- Score modifier (any modifier needs to be bought with Silver Token):
That's up to you.
I used Player Damage Boost with gives you -10% of points to make it a bit easier.
To compensate that I used No Placed Ammo and used the M-7 Lancer as it has infinite ammo.
Remember that your squad has infinite ammo anyways so get them high-powered weapons.

When the match starts, turn left and run to the far corner on the lowest level.
Position yourself on the very last cover point and your squad mates on the two cover points before you.

I used Garrus and Liara while I was playing Sentinel.
Liara is very good for biotic combos while Garrus is good to get shields down.

Try to kill the enemies from a distance, that shouldn't be a problem with most enemies.
Banshees only spawn in the last wave, make them a priority.

As for the bonuses, it's up to you whether or not you're getting them. They will net you a little bonus but running for them will let your "safe zone" potentially become a spawn zone.

Apart from that, go for headshots and most importantly kill streaks.
You should be able to complete the match in less than 5 minutes for the time bonus quite easily.

I used these settings and did not go for the bonus points between the waves and got about 11.000 points while I wasn't that successful with kill streaks, so there is definitely room for improvement.

If you want to make things even easier, just play on narrative with loads of multipliers till you get to the final enemy (should have 9999 by then). Then change to normal difficulty, kill the final enemy and pop toast

Can confirm as of now (3/9/13) Tomjeh's solution works perfectly, for this and "The One and Only"! Thanks!

i can confirm that this work also, but you can change the difficulty after killing the last enemy as well.

The M7 Avenger doesn't have infinite ammo, it just has a ton of it, trying to reload on "0" just has shepherd do the overheat animation repeatedly, but won't change to another weapon automatically

No weapon switches to another one automatically if I remember correctly.
Apart from that, I just checked it and the Lancer reloaded after the cooldown animation just fine.

take it back, the M7 is infinite ammo, though I couldn't figure what caused it to lock up, being unable to use it at all for the next round or two :s

Cerberus Harrier is boss!
M-7 is garbage. Hardly did damage. But other than that I hit 9999 easily thanks I played this on Insane geez lol.

I personally use the Particle Rifle X which does have infinite ammo as it's based on overheating, not thermal clips.

M-7 Lancer has infinite ammo as well as it's also based on overheating, like in the good old ME1 days ;-)

If you're a power-oriented engineer, definitely go against the Geth and spam overload. Comical.

The game is easy enough even on Insanity.

But good guide anyway.

SirLugash you may want to add to the easier solution.

I did this achievement & [ The One and Only ] played on (Narrative) with all point +% but I killed all of the N7 people and just after the box saying your score popped up where it says try again (B) or continue (A) after you click (A) you are still in the arena for a bit so then change the difficulty to Normal, Hardcore, or Insanity and it popped up for me.

Anybody get a glitch where you cannot talk to the VI turian? After completing the DLC story line and after the party, I tried to talk to the VI to get it started, but there is no option...

Edit: If anyone else has this issue, they need only to head back to the Normandy, and return to the DLC area. At least it was fixed for me.

The way I found to do this achievement is using the following:
Map: Wingman
Enemies: Reaper (Super Elites)
Score Modifiers: No medigel ,player damage increase and No Ammo Drops
Squad Mates: Wrex and Grunt

Super Elite enemies are needed for the extra score especially with kill streaks.
Minimal score modifiers to make it easier since super elite enemies.
Easy to get over 10,000 points.
Any other squad mates and they will be downed easier.

There are two ways you can do this one. You can actually play through the combat simulator on Normal/Hardcore/Insanity and get 9999 points. Or do it the easier way as this guide will describe.

This guide assumes you have all the Arena settings from the Armax store.

I turned my difficulty to Narrative; though I'm sure casual will do just fine for others.
Turn on all of the score modifiers.
Choose a map (Wingman seems to be the easiest to navigate).
Choose enemy: Reapers, then the option of super elite.

If you have the M-7 Lancer, you are going to want to equip that because if you didn't know, it has infinite ammo. Feel free to keep the player damage boost score modifier on; though it will deduct from your overall score.

Squad members have infinite ammo, so you don't have to worry about them.

I was an Engineer using Garrus and Miranda. Honestly, the squad members don't matter much, I didn't see them use powers at all, so I wouldn't rely on it unless you are someone who activates powers for squad members. Sentry turrets and combat drones are your friends.

I don't have any special strategy for hiding or anything. Play the simulator like you would normally. At the end, when you are around your last two enemies, change your combat level up to normal. Kill those enemies (and be careful that they don't kill you instead) and watch the trophy pop after you load back into the lobby.

Bonus's can help; I got them. Though I didn't get a kill streak higher than three. Doing all of that, my score ended up being around 12k.

You score points for kills, naturally. The higher the difficulty and the more multipliers you have enabled, the more points you will earn. A good set up for this would be;

Level: Wingman
Enemy: Mirror Match
Score Modifier: No Placed Ammo/ No Medi Gel

With this set up you should reach up to 10,000 points, by the time you have finished and all of your bonuses have been added.

*Note, if you are struggling with this achievement, you can play the match on casual/narrative difficulty, then when there is only 1 enemy left, switch the difficulty back to normal and kill the last enemy and you will still get credit for completing it on normal.

Just to be clear, you don't need exactly 9999 points. As long as you get more than 9999 in a match (when I did this, I had over 12,000), then the in game leaderboard will display your score as 9999.

This one should be able to be done with The One and Only, but it doesn't need to be. Playing against super elite enemies with multiple modifiers active will get you to 9999+. Fortunately, there's a fairly easy way to do this. Play on Casual or Narrative all the way until the very last enemy in the last round. The difficulty level doesn't affect the amount of points that you get when you get a kill. When there is one left, pause and increase the difficulty to Normal, Hardcore, or Insanity. When there is one enemy left, there will be a a red diamond on them showing you where they are.

The different modifiers are listed below. They are all silver level purchases, so you'll need at least 2,000 points in a match to unlock them or earn a gold medal (over 6,000 points) to unlock three of them.

  • No Medi-Gel = +10% score
  • One-Shot Player Shields = +20% score
  • Enhanced Enemy Shields = +10% score
  • Enemy Damage Boost = +10% score
  • No Placed Ammo = +10% score
  • Player Damage Boost = -10% score

The required amount must be obtained in one game. Opened the "Elite" mode, rivals Cerberus. After three rounds it's not hard to get. Don't forget to take "Bonuses" between rounds. On opponents with shields, use a sniper and a compartment with disintegrating cartridges.

As the match progresses, you can change the difficulty level. Those. To make it easier to obtain this trophy, we go through the match in a combat simulator at the "narrative" difficulty level, and only at the end of the third round, when there are 1-2 enemies left, we change the difficulty of the game to "normal".

A small addition. The easiest way to get it is at the “super elite”, additionally applying all the modifiers for additional points (“disposable shields” is an exception), take “soldiers” to the team and more than 15k points are yours. Plus manipulations with the difficulty level described in the tip.

Dropped with the "one and only" trophy. We choose a competition together with doubles, take either biotics or those who have skills with long-term damage to armor for the task, and set up a narrative. It is also desirable that one of the characters has an overload (EDI is ideal for this). For each Shepard they give 500 points, do not forget about the bonuses for each round, and try to make a series of kills, in the story this is as easy as shelling pears. When there is only one Shepard left, we change the difficulty to normal, and the trophy is in our pocket.
