How to unlock the The Shadows Rushed Me achievement in Max Payne 3 - Definitive Guide

This solution is exactly the same as
Max Payne 3A New York MinuteThe A New York Minute achievement in Max Payne 3 worth 675 pointsFinish In A New York Minute

However you can not die throughout THE WHOLE ENTIRE CAMPAIGN! If you die, or fail a mission, you are restarted from level one. No checkpoints and no save points!!!

Yes, this means you must go through every level in one sitting without dying not even once. Also, aim is set to free aim.

Some things to look out for are missing timed events such as saving somebody, sniping somebody in time, or jumping off of ledges by accident. It may seem like common sense but you will be using alot of bullettime and diving so make sure you aren't near any dangerous ledges.

Also, you can use last stand but MAKE SURE you shoot the person who shot you. If you run out of ammo, you die, game over.

Another helpful hint is that you can hit the back button to turn off weapon attachments and press left and right on the D pad to change your viewing angle.

This may be the toughest shooter achievement around in a long time so prepare for a grind, and may the force be with you :P

UPDATE 2 - Here is a list of all pain killers in the game. Props to Pr1nce0fDarknez for giving me the link and Infernal on X360a
http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/showthread.php?t=37...

UPDATE - I have now completed Hardcore NY Minute. It was a pain! I died so many times over game glitches and stupid situations but being persistent is key!

Below are my videos of me actually doing Hardcore NY Minute. If you click the videos and go to Youtube you can see time stamps for each section and main event for easy navigation.

I also have PLATINUM medals for all regular new york minute mission in this playlist. Please check it out.

http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLCDE9F443D1D38A50&...

Also during the last mission I got booted off of live due to an update for Max Payne! I was too far in to even think about restarting so that is why it is appearing offline. Check out video 5 to see what I am talking about.

All videos were recorded while streaming at http://www.twitch.tv/markyshizzle

Good luck!

I have read that, however I have already played HC NYM and can confirm everything I said is correct. There are no save points, there is one death, thats it. I know this because I have played it. It should not be mixed.

And for normal NYM there is no where to select difficulty setting, it is one setting. and Yes that is chapter to chapter.

Are you ***** kidding me ? The WHOLE CAMPAIGN WITHOUT DYING ?!

In hard settings, I died a lot, even in last standing, because of a camera bug. It's just... IMPOSSIBLE ! O_O

BTW, do you know what difficilty is setted in NYmHardcore ?

Last myth, nobody in the world has this achievement, I was the 2nd person on the site to even complete NY Minute. it may be the hardest achievement for a shooter in xbox 360's existence. I played the game mode and know how it works, that's why I posted the solution. Im sure everybody else appreciates it.

1. I foresee this as being patched by Rockstar as it IS impossible

2. Why would this be only worth 10 GS?

Well (as of this post), it seems that one person actually got it, but who knows if its legit or not, seems like it though, and yeah, how come this doesn't have a high ratio/GS than the NYM mode itself not on hardcore, smh, ~_~.

Note. After looking at everything, it seems that this guide is false. I looked on Xbox360Achievements.org and on their discussion/s, it seems that the CHAPTER resets when you die, and this is on Hardcore. Markyshizzle, how far into NYMHC did you get? If you died on the first chapter, then you may have just extrapolated and assumed that the game resets when you die, not the chapter. I have tried NYMHC myself at my friend's place, and I got onto the 3rd chapter. I died at that point, and only the chapter resetted, so your sources of info are either false or intentionally misleading.

markyshizzle is 100% right u do get reset to level 1 if u die i was on level 3 and died and got reset to level 1 . but i would say its on medium because ai are a bit shity and it takes more that 3 bullets for them to put u down . if u no where most of the painkillers are in the levels this should be easy

Bahh, i got several Times to Chapter 3 now, but got 4 Tims Bugkilled (once Last Stand but No Enemy, Once Last Stand but Enemy shooted trough a Ironplate so no way to shot back, once Dashboard kick after a Long Period of Black, and the best of all at the End of Chapter 3 at the Sniper laying on Floor i shooted the Full Magazine at him the Point was Red, but apparently nothing happend...) Well its not something new, such Things happened many Time in the regular Game, no big Deal if you have Checkpoints or at least Chapters, but here its not acceptable, its Gamebreaking and makes me Furious of Rage because if this happens here it gonna certainly happen later too if i have the Luck to get a Bugfree run any further...

I had many many Dashboard Kicks alone in the Storymode on Hard, so why this should not happen here?

Its not challenging, its pure gross carelessness to remove all Failsafes, with so much Bugs possible Chapters without Checkpoints are the minimum, else they please 100% fix every single Bug and Glitch possible. Not possible to fix every single Bug possible in a Game, you say? Well, then please provide Failsafes for them, else its oure gross carelessness!

@m0j0 j0j0 4ever
You can't play Hardcore first anyway, i played Hard first, then you get Hardcore and Oldschool unlocked, Hardcore isn't available on first playthrough, only Easy, Medium, Hard... And probably playing then Oldschool will grant you both, Hardcore and OldSchool Chews.. So this are 2 playthrough's and then the NYM and the NYM Hardcore, which last has less Cutscreens, so saving 80% of Time because this Game mainly consists of 80% Cutscreens and 20% Game for me...

Anyway doing all in one Day, well if you can disable the Cutscreens then perhaps yes else probably not and anyway i don't see how it should be possible to do the NYM Hardcore the Way it is currently anyway...

But i can do this too with an RSG'ed XBOX and a nice Trainer, there was a decent Trainer for Max Payne 3 available before the Game was even out legit, where you can't die and have unlimited everything, with this i can do it too in one Day without hassle... lol

Btw. does anyone figured out how to use Human Shields?

Because i read everywhere "Max is now able to use Human Shields" but i don't know how, never done it till now... I suppose this could help a bit, but i was never able to grab them only melee them?!
0
0
By NeXuS23 on 23 May 2012 00:46
Also just calculated that some of the Times in the Scorelist are impossible too, its easy Number of Enemy * 6 Seconds(Headshot) + 1 Minute is the max, but you need much Time to walk around also so even this is not possible without melee every single Enemy which would need more Time but give you Number of Enemy * 10 Seconds + 1 Minute, walking Time not counted... Some have more than that, so they used Trainers for sure, i got Platinum on one Level and even this is fucking hard, some beat this Time more than twicely, so something doesn't sound right here too... Or is there a Way to run 10 Times faster, not really and even then, no way... I also tried to save Time by Bullettime while running, does not work, the fastest is still to run, well so not even the Scoreslist is real, how sad....

@Nexus23
The skyrim glitch has already been patched so a little patience would habe saved you from buying another copy of the game.
And how impossible do you really think NYM HC is since some people already did it legit.
Oh and btw, talking about savegame manipulating and GS hacking on this side is

just damn stupid...You just look like an idiot if you would hack an achievement that is ()
0
0
By uhKillswitch on 23 May 2012 20:33
My patience is not limitless, it took too long for Skyrim to be fixed...
And are you sure they got it legit? I don't think so, at least one of them is 100% not legit, so nothing is sure...
And you know talking about or doing it are two pairs of Shoes, and apparently some are not only talking about but also actually already done it... So what is more stupid, talking about or doing it?

Another Thing also concerning the NYM itself, in my Manual they say, if you don't reach the Checkpoint (well there are non thats the first Error) then the Level restarts (thats right) and you get additional Time to complete the Level (second Error, you not get additional Time)... So they not even say it correct in the Manual, nice one... ;)

Sorry, i don't understand what they say, anyway its like the other Letter from them published, its confusing and missleading, like also the Game Presentation where they not answered Questions about how long you have to play actually, perhaps they feared it is going be called an Interactive Movie instead of Game...

Well what ever, for me it now sounds like removing the Patch will help and i actually read about that the Day one Patch also changed the original Chapterbased Form into this Mess we have now, but who knows, perhaps its the same missleading Information like all the others R* is spreading.... I mean they not even get it right in the Manual, so perhaps they not know it themself... lol

But Thank you, and i will write them too now, but they will probably not answer me anyway... ^_^

Yeah thats what i was thinking too, you not asked about Multiplayer or Online, well i written them now and asked for a clear Answer of my Answers that everybody will understand, hope it helps..

Also i just got another of those nice Bugs, i had a perfect Time worth Platin but i was not able to quit the Last Killcam, no way, it simply hanged there with the sound, so i was forced to restart... On the second try however i got Platinum again luckly, but still if such Things happens in single Chapters, i'm sure it will happen more than once in a full Game...

Well i asked them also, if they find it wise to remove all Failsafes for exact such Bugs that are present in the Game and will lead to reseting you back to Chapter one all Time they happen, i hope i get an Answer...

By NeXuS23 on 24 May 2012 15:21
I also found some Bugs that may only affect Time Challenges but i consider them as Bugs because it takes you Time away, some Enemy only show up only after some Time, so if you rush trough they not even show up, sometimes they are there, sometimes not, don't know why but seems to be scripted events for Singleplayer they forgot to remove for Arcademode... ;) Well, and also its not true that you get 5/6 Seconds for Kills, many only give you 2 Seconds even if shoot in the Head, i consider this a Bug too because its non-consistent this way... Anyway i find it not very good to simply take the Singleplayer and name it Arcade, would have been better to put together everything new for Arcade, this way its a bit messy in my eyes...

Ohh my God the Time challenge is so messed up, you got a perfect Time and then Passos is doing nothing for 20-30 Seconds starring at the Sky and then suddenly walks to the Door and waits again 10 Seconds to say ohh its locked ohh i will open it ohh blah blah blah, Not to Mention that Time is still running down all the Time, why the Hell it is not stopped if you shot the last Enemy and have to wait for such Crap, i don't understand it, for me this is messed up... All these Singleplayer Crap should be removed out or at least please stop the Timer while these Scripts are running and you can't do nothing but waiting... :(

In my hardcore run i ended up falling through the floor after a shootdodge in ch. 3 and I had a couple of freezes ins multiplayer matches. So far there hasn't been a return to dashboard glitch for me but how knows. MaybeWhen i go for my NYM HC run. That would be a perfect possibility :).
I just finished hardcore and am about to start Oldschool, then it's NYM and finally NYM HC. So looking forward to doing this.

Also about falling trough the Floor and alike, i found a Glitchguide, there are 4 known Spots which this happens and 3 Spots where you can go outside the World and even walk over the entire World... These are only known one, no one knows if there are much more of them actually...

Also i was able to reproduce the No Enemy Glitch on the Chapter in Sao Paolo, but i don't know exactly what causes this, must be something right before the Sport where you must jump down and one Guy shots from the right upper Edge because it happend two Time now that all Enemy vanishes after that Spot...

Also i found a Bug that cause to spawn an Enemy out of nowhere after the Last Enemy Kill Cam to kill the Girl instantly if you jump down, a Bug because there is no one else, it is spawn out of nowhere, or better its probably only a Movie where this Enemy is, because all others are allready dead...

But these can be circumvented, the Problems are all the others, like Enemy shooting trough Walls or are Rising from the Deaths and kills you from nowhere even after you seen that the Bullet smashed the Face, also i even had a Dead one shoot at me, so it was an invisible one, the Cam then pointed to the dead Body, but shooting it does logically not count... Anyway, for me it seems they can walk and run 10 Times faster as i'm able, or they are spawn instead they walk, because you can look at a Spot and nothing is there then you walk by and suddenly one is there are shoots you, but its impossible that they walked there without you seeing it, so they are spawned there...

Well, but thats nothing there are many others, like also Ammo is gone suddenly and then suddenly you have it again without taking new one, and many many more....

Don't know if some of them was fixed with the newest Patch, but the one with the vanished Enemys was with the newest Patch applied so i don't really think they fixed them all...

I cannot try this myself since I forgot that you need to have finished NYM before being able to start NYM HC.
I cleared the system cache and started up MP3 but xbox live stayed connected.
When.I returned to the dashboard and checked the MP3 data I realized that you have to delete the 11mb update manually.
So how exactly do you remove the day 1 patch when clearing the cache is not working?
0
0
By uhKillswitch on 25 May 2012 19:52
Hmm, normally clearing the Cache removes any Patches for all Games at once, there is no need or possibleity to remove single ones anyway with exception of these ones that are present in the Gamedirectory itself, but normally they are not there... So clearing the Cache and then starting the Game should bring the Message that a Patch is here, if you then say No then no Patch is applied and you are set Offline for that Game...

By NeXuS23 on 25 May 2012 19:59

I don't think it's that bad. I'm really.enjoying it besides not being able to skip every cutscene on further runs through this game but the long story cutscenes don't show up in NYM for as far as I know. Just scenes with QTE need to be watched but it's still gonna be a pain.

They give you a grain of hope to jist have it destroyed when you actually try what they suggested.

Less talk about cheating, complaining, and Rockstar screwing us over. I died numerous times in each level including chapter 12 and 13. I got kicked the dashboard in chapter 6. I died from passos being a freaking idiot and getting himself killed when I did perfectly. These things happened to me. I put over 20 hours of gameplay before I finally completed it. I sucked it up and put my skills to the test, and you can too.

Ohh, and you what, it becomes even weirder some now confirms that they have Chapters on NYMHC on the PS3 and i saw a Video on You Tube where a Dude walks at least 5 Times faster then i can also Movement is more Fluid, i first assumed its the PC Version, but no its the Xbox Version, also he got a Bug i never seen before on Chapter 3... Funny but definitely more than confusing, perhaps i should delete the whole Game and reinstalling it, because i feel i definitely can't move so fast and Movement is absolutely not so fluid, or i have another Version.... lol

Ok, last one, to much Time wasted for this anyway, it looks like an New York Minute Co-Op DLC is coming, so you can do it with a Partner... ;) But, it not gonna help if it glitches...

And so far the one who made it on PS3/XBOX said the Game glitched between 5-15 Times inbetween, so its pure Luck it it does not and also if you are Lucky to catch a non glitched Run you must have the Luck to actually not die elsewise then, so Double Luck needed... And one Advise is if it glitches, turn off the Console for a while before retrying because Chances are greater then that it will not Glitch again, however you never know.... And the other is , use Painkillers manually to avoid Last Stand because in 40% of all Cases it will Glitch somehow, so its best to avoid it...

Well, NYM Co-op sounds better for me, however the Problem with the Glitches still bothers me...

in all honestly this isnt that hard, after playing through nym you should know where the tough parts are and dont over step your capabilities by rushing or trying too much. i hope they dont change this achievement as it will be a accomplishment to whoever gets it and will probably remain at a high ta ratio.

I don't have a problem with tough cheevos at all. But if it's not just the fear of doing but being screwed over by some bugs and glitches is terrible.
I think it would be nice if R* at least let us know if they're working on these problems...

FFS, you'd probably have the achievement by now if you put half the time into actually playing it that you have spent typing out paragraph long bitchfests. 100 some comments on here, probably half of them are yours, and they all say the same thing.

By MFGodec on 26 May 2012 08:52
Its not the Difficulty that bothers me, its the waste of Time because of such Glitches that bothers me the most... And after reading many Comments from such that managed it, it will Glitch a minimum of 5 Times on 10 Tries thats pure Waste of Time... Also i really don't see how at least one Save per Act would change anything on the Difficulty anyway... But well i wait anyway till 1-2 next Patches comes, if this is not changed a least i hope they fixed more Bugs by then... ;)

alright i have just completed nym hardcore and all i can say to all the haters is STOP COMPLAINING ABOUT THE BUGS OR GLITCHES, you make it sound like this game is so damn broken that 99 of 100 times something will go wrong.

the majority of my screw ups were on disc 1 (and were for such stupid shit like missing bullet time events) and only screwed up once on chapter 7 due to not being able to find the guy in last man standing... and best of all in the however many runs i had at this tonight i did not encounter a single glitch.

By freelance1986 on 26 May 2012 19:43
Then you had luck or something else or i and many others have a screwed up Version then, my Game even glitches on Single Chapters regulary after freshly starting up the Console, ranging from vanishing of all Enemy and hanging then to Dashboard kicks out of nowhere... SO then i should return my COpy also and request a new one, because i have tons of Glitches, strange not?

By NeXuS23 on 26 May 2012 19:52
And its not 99 out of 100, its about 5 out of 10 and this is based upon Comments i read for PS3 and XBox, also the Bugs are the same for both Systems, however on PS3 it seems to be a greater Problem to let the Console running for longer than it is for Xbox luckly, but the other Things are almost the same, so it can't be coincidence... There are even Youtube's showing these Glitches, but no, they don't exist of course... :(

Ahh, who cares, its Waste of Time anyway, perhaps i should simply sell all my Games and the Console and stop this Shit once for all... ;)

You're a little drastic in what you write. You really want to sell your collection over some bugs? Come on, seriously. Calm down a little bit.
Congrats at you freelance for doing it.. I wanna finish all the other runs before I tackle NYM HC.But still, just because you didn't have many glitches or no glitches at all doesn't mean this game couldn't screw you over. just saying.
I don't wanna have something like falling through the floor happen to me on my no death run...

Perhaps a bit drastic, but it was the first Thing coming in Mind, so still an Option... But what i will do is to trade in this Shit Game if it they don't fix it, i wait till i get the Answer fro R* and then i decide what to do, no fix = trade in!

Also i can confirm some Bugs now, its definitely so that Dead ones are miraculously resurrected, i even got the Headshot Bonus displayed on that one and then was standing again and caused a Door to not open and had to be shot again... I counted the Enemy there and its 100% sure he got resurrected and standing again after i shot him and passed by, its something seen often but this Time i checked it accurately by repeating it 10 Times at least, and two Times the same got miraculously resurrected, just another one of these small Bugs, like shooting in Legs count as Headshot, or Headshots with the Animation of the Face being splatted counts not as Headshots, its random, but sucks... Sometimes i shoot them 10 Time into the Head to finally get it, small Bugs but they all suck... Another one is Ammoboxes are no functioning sometimes, i once got only 3 Bullets for the Pistols, yeah just 3 Bullets, or also i get the clicking Sound of Ammorefill but i get 0 Ammo for the Rifle and Pistols, also reusing it does not help, i just not get any Ammo till i restart the Chapter, it sucks, its riddled with such Bugs, perhaps i should get one of these Videorecorder Cable Bypass'es so that i'm able to record all this Shit and put it on Youtube too... :(

After just watching again Bugs like Hell, this is no Shooter this is a Bugfest, even if the Dot is aiming perfectly, it shoots at the Roof 90 Degree from where the Dot is,and he looks like an Mongoloid while shooting out of Cover trough a Window, the Arm is bended 3 Times around whatever and it does not matter where the Aiming Dot is, he shoots to the Floor, to the Roof, to the Wall, to everywhere but not where the Aiming dot is... And it happened also 3 Times now that i can't shoot anymore, nothing happens, i can hammer the Trigger nothing happens while Full Ammo logically... And anyway i want a fucking AImingcross not this silly shitty little Dot that vanishes in all the other Dots in the Air, but it does not even aim where it is, so absolute messed up... And then then it brings my really in Rage that it allways switch Weapons from alone, i switch to Rifle, i have Pistols again, i switch to Rifle, i have Pistols again, i take up Rifle, after the Cutscreen i have no RIfle anymore and of course no Ammo in Pistols, yeah there was a Reason i taken up the RIfle, but no it vanishes from alone, what a mess, after every Cutscreen or Door, Weapon are switched around and Weapons vanishes, this is a freaking Movie and no Game.... Sorry, but if somebody says me again there are no Bugs and is near me i make him feel my Fist in his Face for sure... :(

@ Killswitch: Shut up hahaha. I try it at least once a day. :P

@ Markyshizzle: Sorry I meant a different part. When you climb up the elevator with the three guys in the beginning and the empty pool. In this shooting section I got downed by the last guy. He was hiding behind the bar at the far end. I was totally my fault cause I had like 8 Painkillers and +14 Minutes. I should have been more careful.

Well and for today I only managed to get to BRANCO HQ. The office shootout where you have to protect the Hacker nerd.

I really do hope you can get the achievement with the upcoming COOP-DLC. Also that you are possible to revive your team-mate somehow.

NeXus, not trying to be an ass, but seriously, shut the hell up. This is a solution, not a forum. People come here for help, tips, and I don't know, maybe solutions for achievements. No one, and I mean no one, wants to read all of your comments that are a page long and all say the same thing. If you had any decency, you would delete at least 95% of those so people don't have to scroll for 20 minutes to find a comment worth a damn.

Whining? Shut it up? Almost so arrogant as the developers must be to assume that a game bug won't show up and screw the you over... It is stupid to have a challenge that allows no saves because, i'm sorry Rockstar, but your game does have tons of bugs... And no Solution will help here anyway till they fix the mess!

But no i will no delete anything, i will let it stay as a memorial for stupid Trophies and even more stupid Develeopers!

Boy I'm so happy right now. Gotta feel the pressure. I went to the last fight (Becker) with 6 Pain Killers, had like +09:22:25 minutes left and used the G6 Commando. My FINAL TIME was: 121:25:82. Write this down! :D

I'm currently doing what I hope to be my successful run. What is a decent time to bave built up by Cbapter 6? I can pretty consistently have around 8 to 9 minutes there. I aak because on my last near-perfect run, I ran out of time in Chapter 14. I had started to take things slowandsteady from Chapter 12 onwards and it cost me dearly.

in my final runs i was using more slow motion and less diving. A full meter can last for 15 enemies as 2-3 dives will empty out your whole meter.

As far as time goes make sure you use as many explosions as you can. In 4.1 you can gain about 2 minutes just by blowing up the cars in the lot instead of shooting enemies. Or shooting just the trucks on the boat level instead of the guys on them

yeah, that's what i was wondering. i don't think there is a leaderboard for this. only for normal nym. btw, even though it says hardcore, i think that's only b/c of the no death part, this isnt hardcore difficulty tho. you have a lot less bullet time in hardcore.

Simple question since I haven't unlocked hardcore NY minute but you know how in Dead Space 2 Hard to the Core if you died during disc 2 it didn't reset you back to the beginning or where your 1st disc one checkpoint was. Well does it do the same here since it's on two discs or does it actually make you swap back to disc 1.

Just tried this the other day and I failed on chapter 8. Right in the beginning part in the graveyard, it is apparently possible to hit passos with a stray bullet and kill him - insta-fail. After playing through the mission plenty of times on all the difficulties, I never knew that was even possible, and of course has to happen right when I go for this haha

0
0
By Markyshizzle on 30 Jul 2013 09:52
I agree.. I actually think the hardest parts are where the game thrusts you into firefights instead of letting you tackle them. The cemetery fights and the first few fights in chapter 10 are a good examples. I found chapters 11 and 12 to be pretty easy cause you get to take your time and have plenty of cover. And yeah, if you have 10+ minutes built up by chapter 13 & 14, you can take your time. Rushing is what kills toward the last third of the game.

I watched your video on that. I would literally break another controller if that happened to me. Seems to go by quicker than expected though and the health is better than on regular nym. I just don't want to sit down and start it again lol...god I'm tired of seeing those cut scenes lol

Got it! Thanks for the videos. I only used the video for chp 4 though. And for those of you wondering, this achievement is pretty damn difficult. All I can say is practice. Chapters 13 & 14 are definitely the hardest. And the final boss fight is really intense. It felt like I was having a heart attack, my heart was beating extremely fast. But damn it feels good to unlock this. smile

It does take skill, I got it on my second attempt. Use bullet-time, use cover. I never shootdodged tho. Not saying you shouldn't, just always gets me killed.

Also Rockstar's a fucking douchebag for making this only 10 fucking G. WHAT THE TITS

I was able to get this achievement after several tries, and the videos definitely helped on a few levels I was struggling with, specifically the police station and graveyard for some reason or another. Thumbs up for this thorough, informative solution.

SO for anyone who has been playing the game post patch/online. Are the explosions still necessary for banking large amounts of time or is that strategy a lost cause now that a patch nerfed the amount of time received from explosive kills?

It doesnt hurt to destroy a few vehicles along the way. Just dont forget to be very far from them before they explode. The range from which they can one hit kill you seems be very large.

Done this achievement 10 times now since this is the only game I got back to after getting all achievements. I'll always be up for doing this again for the fun of it. This is honestly got to be one of the most easiest achievement I have ever earned and it really doesn't deserve such a high ratio in my opinion.

Have fun anyone who still need this. It's fun to go through if you keep up with it and it’s all about memory that’s all! ;)

Got it after the 2nd try after losing the 1st to one of beckers gnades (~3h for nothing), took me 7h totally. I had 26min left. After CH 4 I had 11min and didnt care about time, just speedrun through it. It helped a lot that I did in 5days hard, NYM, old scool, hardcore and then this. Honestly I liked NYM more cause of cut cutscenes... except that CH 9 -2min for that quick time.

The bugs going for this achievement nearly drove me CRAZY but I finally got it!!! I want to thank whoever gave the advice of only diving as a last ditch effort. My first attempts were above average but I just couldn’t get over the hump until I saw that advice. It uses up SO much of your bullet time and using it manually is 100% the better way to go about this! Also whoever gave the advice of not letting yourself go into last man standing if you can help it. Using pain killers manually whenever I was at half health saved me a bunch of times. Thanks again for everybody who gave advice and helped me conquer this one :)

I completed yesterday but I won't be able to update my XBL account until I get back to my house monday. It took me 4 playthroughs and about 8 hours of accumulated time. I died on chapter 8 twice due to the fucking sniiper, one on 10 from a random ass grenade and one on chapter 4 due to not being able to find the guy in last man standing. I used every single one of your videos before I started each level to get a good understanding of where all of the painkillers were. Everyone will probably think I'm a cheater since it was obtained offline, but truthfully I play all of my games' offline because of my connection.

Just an extra tip: ALWAYS use shootdodge. Whenever you're taking cover behind something and there's lot of enemies around, just pop out and use shootdodge. It's not worth it at all if you stay in cover and just keep using bullet-time. You'll end up running out of time and painkillers.

Anyways, thank you Markyshizzle for the videos because I probably would have never gotten this without them.

obviously doing it is more stupid but as you said yourself talking about it is stupid as well especially if you're a member of this site.
The game isn't out for much longer than a week so again maybe patience is the key. People gonna get it someday.
I finished hard and the singleplayer grinds yesterday and I'm now on my hardcore run in ch 3. Afterwards it's oldschool, nym amd then I'm gonna put some effort into nym hc which is propably gonna take a while... If I won't get it legit I won't get it at all but it's still just a game so get over it or don't even bother.

Yeah i will try it too, but what bothers me really is the fact that some are using non legit Methods and then claim they got it and then others are referring to those and say its possible, that is what bothers me really...

Also it is easy to prove that some Times are impossible to get, its not an Issue for this Achievement of course, but proves that some are using non legit Methods even for that, not an Issue for me because i don't care about Scorelist, but certainly is for those who do care because they will never beat them legit for sure...

And i also suppose some Gamedevs then instead of removing them do refer to the exact same with such Scores reached with such Methods as a excuse that its possible and easy, but in fact it is not because they used non legit Methods...

Well, in Future i will check out the Games a long Time before i buy them for sure and not buy them if i read something like that, its my fault after all, i buyed it too fast, will never happen again for sure..

Hmm, so removing it actually works? But then its the Day one Patch that does change it, because the others don't change anything, and i know how to remove of course its easy on XBox, well so i will remove it and do it Offline then also and i don't care about Social Club or anything like DLC's or what ever till this works or is patched... Btw. i not got any Answers from R* till today about...

Yeah, the same for me... Its a waste of Time, but i also hate it that Games are incomplete... But this Game is really 80% unskipable Movie and 20% actual Game, so its gonna be waiting for Hours and playing for Minutes where you have a great Chance of being killed by Bugs only to rewatch all the unskippable Movies, i hate them enough in the Single Chapters, i know they will make me insane if i'm forced to watch them over and over again being unable to skip them... And i also hate the Discswaps that occurs all the Time on Switching between Chapters, Microsoft sais its the fault of R* not the fault of the XBox, they said the Devs could have do it without if the Gam eis installed, so R* even messed up that...

Well, probably it would have been better to never buy this Game anyway, because its a Movie no Game and if i had know that a such BS like NYMHC is present i would never buyed it for sure.... But like it said allready before, i will be much more prudent next Time before i buy a Game, so R* is now the Reason i will never again buy a Game on a spontan Base in Future because of that....

Finally got it :) took me 4 tries total. I had 9 painkillers at Becker and just kept using them any time I had even the least bit damage incase I got hit by a grenade. When the plane went down was one of the best moments in gaming for me. Proud of myself ^^ thanks for the wonderful guide.

Yeah, at least a Save for each Act would be the absolute minimum, would still be very dangerous because of the Bugs, but then you at least not gonna loose everything because of a Bug, also this would automatically mean you get one for the Discswap, because it happens on a Act change, which sometimes has Issues too...

But i just again read, that it will be patched and that it was never intended to be played in one Sitting and that Difficulty should had been on Hardcore, but now its only Medium and has the One Sitting Bug for some Reason... But well, i read so many different so called R* Answers, that i don't trust any more any of them...

We will see and there are many complaining currently, so i wait till its fixed and if not, well i play Dragon Dogma instead and for me its not worth buying any DLC's for it then so i will simply let this Game Rest in Peace...

This game does have bug issues in the campaign. I have had levels not load correctly to the point where stairs and cover doesn't exist... I've had the game freeze on me (installed on a 6 month year old Xbox Slim 250gb) and walked past a barrel that rolled and blocked my ability to progress further in the level. Also the final stand is frankly ridiculous at times. It is an irritating novelty that has no purpose in the game.

All of these are absolutely forgivable in an ordinary game- but I have NO interest in doing NYM Hardcore where there is a high probability that I may come across a bug that will impede or simply stop my progress.

Just got it on my second try, I am so happy as many many people have a lot of trouble getting this :D

Thanks Marky for the nice video guides, and especially for the tip with chapter 7. Worked like a charme. I also had no glitching issues. The rest was pretty easy, I never got into last stand! In the end I had 26 minutes left *dances*

Thanks!

One piece of advice that might be useful: I found that the area towards the end of the first slum level which has the molotov cocktails is easy to simply sprint through - you should have enough painkillers to jump the wall at the start and just charge.

There are 2 people to kill when you get to the final stretch but they will go straight down while in bullet time. Keep running so the molotovs are useless and then you will shoot the rocket. After that, nobody can hit you so you are free to finish saving time and frustration from any potential insta-kill.

Aside from making a few errors in church protecting Passos and accidentally shooting fabiana in the boat chase this wasn’t too difficult. What killed me was the game freezes and glitches I encountered after completing a level where the game would bug out and not fully load a level and get stuck on a black screen. Happy I got this game done before the server closure. The only tip I can really offer is to take your time the last 3 levels as you should have anywhere between 10-15 banked by this point. Stay behind cover against Becker and leave yourself a little bit of bullet time to shoot his grenades. I think my final time was 1 hour and 45 min. So for anyone wondering how long this takes. That can be used as a rough estimate

Did it just now...didn't dive the entire time lol. I almost died twice in Chapter 13 (where you're in the shooting gallery bit). The rest was sort of a breeze. I encountered no glitches or freezes on my final run, however, the 5 or so prior (never made it past Chapter 6) I had multiple. The game really did behave. I would recommend running with a painkiller video open and collect as many as you can throughout your course. I never did drop below 2/3 the entire time (outside of times when I started with 0) and I am 100% sure that if it wasn't for collecting every painkiller humanly possible, I would never have done it! Took me about 3.5-4 hours but I did have a risky food/coffee break just to keep my sanity. My arse was clenched from Chapter 3 onwards laugh

Yeah, probably he not even used a Trainer but simply edited the Achievements... Well something i certainly can't approve normally, with exception of this impossible one if it is not gonna be fixed... But here it seems not to be only this one, it concerns probably all that have been edited or he used the Trainer for it...

But i don't care to much anyway, because if this is not gonna be fixed to be possible to get legit, i perhaps will go the same Way but once i taken it it will have big consequences, like downloading ISO's instead of buying Games in Future, as an Example...

Perhaps i'm a bit crazy, quite possible, but i can't change it, its like it is, i have a certain Threshold and if it is reached, evil things can happen... *lol* Well but its probably still better i hack the XBox instead of going out and kill real People and if they cough me, i explain them i killed them because of this shit Achievement, hehehehe, but would be cool and also another Shooter being blamed for turning People amok, wait this is it, this way they get bad press and the Game perhaps even gets banned.... No i'm just joking, but you never know, what crazy People in rage are able to... ;)

I still hope this was only a bad Joke and it is gonna be fixed, else FY R* and it was the last Game for me for sure...

I just read, that it was never meant to be played in one pass and its gonna be fixed...

But i don't trust any more, i heard and read so many total different Things and read so many lies and contradictory Stuff from R* that i don't trust anything till i see it myself...

Also for the Bugs, i never fallen trough the Floor till now, but had all other weird Gamebreaking Bugs in NYM Time Challenges, and despite that these are not different than NYMHC i'm sure i will encounter 10 or more of them in one Playtrough, if this happen between Chapter 1-5 i will become angry, if it happens between 5-8 i will probably smash the Controller to the Wall, between 8-10 its probably the XBox that will be trown out of the Windows, if it happens between 10-13 it becomes very Dangerous and People are gonna be hurt, if something like happens in Chapter 14 well then i probably play Xbox in Jail in Future because then i kill the first one in Encounter outside for sure... It would be better to kill someone at R* instead but they are too far away for me, so out of reach, so some innocent will be choiced instead... ^_^

Obviously someone is deleting my posts in here. It's my free right if I wanna face palm someone...anyway one more time:

Case: I did it till CHAPTER 9, came up to the point where have to slide down the roof and a chopper is coming with a guy shooting a RPG at you and all you have to do is simply aim and shoot the guys in the chooper while sliding down right!?

Guess what, it wouldn't let me. My aim-dot was fixed I COULDN'T F***** MOVE IT. So I was sliding down and waited till the RPG guy blast my ass.

So much for SKILLS, smart guys are talking about...STFU.

I had like +7 MINUTES and no problems so far until this crappy GLITCH/BUG came up.

This has nothing to do with skills...

Edit: Just told this story a friend on my list and he sayed THE SAME THING HAPPENED TO HIM in SP. So I'm not the only one and this needs to be fixed.

So R* lied again... Well, i will see what they answer me, i will publish it here and in a Mag perhaps, also they know that it will be, so perhaps they prefer to not answer... ;)

And well, yeah you can be proud of, but it doesn't change my Opinion about the Various Bugs and that it is gross Carelessness to remove all Failsafes for them, this has nothing to do with how Challenging it is.. I mean if you die more because of Bugs, this has nothing to do with Challenge, and i encountered so many Bugs so far that its pure Luck if you not run into them... Or Perhaps Versions are different, i will test my own Version by removing the Patch and not apply the Day One Patch and then see what happens...

Else i still hope R* fix these or manages to all other Bugs, before that i not play Multiplayer and don't buy any DLC's for sure, because i consider this as pure stupidity and also because if i die at Chapter 11-14 after Hours because of a such Bug, i probably gonna kill someone real, so its probably better i don't even try it, its too dangerous!

And also it does not matter if they fix it or not, i will never again buy a Rockstar Game in this and any other Life... And from now one i will also never buy a Game on a spontan base, thats over forever, i will check them a long Time before i get them and probably will start to rent them instead of buying... This Crap changed me buying behaviour for sure and i really hope they gonna loose Money because of that, i'm sure i'm not the only one that decided to trade it in very early, because i read of many that exactly do that after a Single Playtrough, however for me its the first Time to think so and do so... But if i decided once it decided, it will be the first Game i will not finish on purpose, one Reason is this Crap, the other Reason is i hate that i can't skip this shity Cutscreens it makes me angry, also its more a Movie than a Game anyway, i fell me betrayed!

First attempt, got to the Hotel was downed only 2 times. Killed myself with the grenade launcher in the opening section, don't ever use the launcher complete rng of where the nades will end up. Had absolutely no problems with any other section besides getting downed in the Bus toward the end of the holdout. Had a bug where I would get stuck crouching and couldn't stand up throughout the game, very scary when it would hit during a shootout.

The only really bad sections of this are the 1. The Molotov portion of the Favela/ 2. The Machete scene(RNG TO THE BALLS ON WHETHER) OR NOT THE GUY WILL JUST SHOOT YOU FOR NO REASON)/ 3. The Bus Station level itself with the grenade spam. 4. The Guard Tower in Panama if you didn't bring enough pills and bullet time. 5. Police Station, Killing everyone in the Boss Room then killing the Captain which requires 2 pills minimum. 6. Boss fight with Becker cause the grenades can just randomly kill you through the luggage. (Bring dual automatic pistols and spraying the cars arriving makes the fight way easier).

Got this done on my 4th run. 1st. Died from killing myself 2nd. Killed in Bar cinematic cause I was looking at something else 3rd. Killed jumping from the water tower .

Banjo Kazooie was far harder then this/ I got ptsd from that game. This achievement comes down to certain checkpoints.

Also Marky your shoot dodging(which is a trap) all over the place was giving me more stress then my own runs. NO WONDER YOU WERE DYING SO MUCH. LMAO

Great guide rock star really should get their information right on this achievement this is what someone on xbox360a got as a response from them.
Straight from rockstar

"Thanks for the great feedback about trophies. We have made sure that the trophies are challenging and fun. Here is the full list if you are interested in checking them out.

They do not have to be done in 1 sitting, and hardcore is a difficulty level. < this is answer on my question. I asked about NYM HC and NYM. NYM is chapter by chapter with time and on any difficulty and NYM HC is the same but on hardcore difficulty.

The Max Payne 3 Story can be played at five difficulty settings that can be adjusted on the fly and provide varying levels of challenge as follows:

Easy: Increased Health and Bullet Time® Rewards. A satisfying challenge
Medium: Moderate Health and Bullet Time Rewards. A stiff challenge
Hard: Low Health and Bullet Time Rewards. A real test
Hardcore: Minimal Health and Bullet Time rewards. Very challenging
Old School: Last Man Standing is disabled.

Medium is the default setting for all - so you can start the game and decide from there on the fly whether you'd like to adjust your difficulty for more of a challenge or an easier go as you play.

Easy and Medium settings feature dynamic difficulty which provides access to extra painkillers to help you pass particular parts of the game if you've died repeatedly. On Easy and Medium settings, when you die at a checkpoint, you restart the checkpoint with at least one full magazine of ammo in each gun (except grenade launchers) and the number of painkillers that you started with. For every three times you die at a checkpoint, you get one extra painkiller. So if you started a checkpoint with 2 painkillers, and died 3 times, on each subsequent retry of that checkpoint, you'd start with 3 painkillers. If you died 3 more times (6 total), you'd start with 4 painkillers on each subsequent restart. On Easy and Medium, this can continue until you are respawning with a full 9 painkillers.

On the Hard setting, there is also dynamic difficulty however it is intentionally much more limited to ensure a tougher go. On Hard, if you die 5 times, you will get a bonus painkiller on subsequent respawns, and if you've died 10 times, you can get one more. However, it will never give you bonus painkillers that make your total go above 2. So if you started a checkpoint with 1 painkiller and died 5 times, you'd start with 2; but if you died 5 more times (10 total), you would not get an extra - you would continue to respawn with 2. Likewise, if you start a checkpoint with 3 painkillers, you would never get a bonus painkiller in Hard mode.
Hardcore and Old School modes are unlocked by beating the Story on Hard difficulty.

Cheers,

R*"

Hmm, if it is really in one pass the whole Game without saves its impossible because i had 1000 Bugs in one Playtrough, many many random Dashboard kicks and sudden Deaths without Reason or also there was no Enemy for Last Stand or also Enemy shot trough Massiv Wall and then Camera pointed to that massiv Wall without possiblity to shot trough the Massiv Wall the Enamy has shooted trough or also a Combination of it like a inexistent Enemy shoots, Camera points to empty Space but instead of Death Dashboard kick or Things like i have 210 Rounds of Ammo, i shot 10 Times, i have 0/0 Ammo but after Death again 210 Ammo and a load of other Bugs...

So, they should patch the Bugs first or patch the it so that it saves also it suxx to play all in one sitting because of the sucking non skippable Movies, for me this Game is actually 80% Movie and 20% Game anyway, almost everything is done automatically without you the Players choice...

Well i will try it but if i run into the same Bugs and if it is really without any Saves and really resets you to Level one because of a such Bug, and it is not going to be patched, i will play the Game Offline too hehehehehehehehehe....

Graveyard? Ohh yeah there i had once a instant Death Bug at the Beginning of the Scene with Passos running around the Car... Just after the Cutscene, i Jump i die instantly, no Reason, no Last Stand and Painkiller left, anyway there can't be any Reason here because no shooted, it happened within the 1-2 Seconds just after the Cutscene... On restart of the Checkpoint i done the same and it worked... Such Bugs and Glitches can be forgiven if you restart at Checkpoint, but not here, so they have to fix everything or rebalance this Shit...

Also i glad that i'm not the only one thinking this way, there are real hardcore Players (i'm not count my to hardcore Players) that says the same, its unfair, unbalanced and just stupid... Also R* is to blame for it if it is not fixed... I will not buy a single DLC before i not got it legit anyway!

For me the Timelimit alone is sucking, no Time to loot Ammo and then you run out, nice, i hate it... So at least unlimited Ammo would have been nice, or also please stop the Time while there are No Enemy left, so that we can loot the Ammo in peace...

And for this one, not even unlimited Painkillers would help, because i die more because of Bugs than because i have no more Painkillers, mostly i die when still having 5 or more Painkillers because of Last Stand Glitches where No Enemy is visible because a massiv Wall or Ironplate is between, so they apparently can shoot trough massive Walls, clearly a Bug.... I once even seen a Bulletline going trough a Wall, so for me its clear, they glitch trough Walls sometimes and this is then causing this impossible Things....

Well, like i said, i have no Problems with such Glitches IF THERE ARE CHECKPOINTS, but if there are no Checkpoints and not even Chaptersaves, such Things are Gamebreaking...

I really hope they rebalance it with at least Chaptersaves, because like it is now its a ridiculous gross carelessness on Part of R* and has nothing to do with Challenging or what ever, its only stupidly ridiculous, thats all...

Ohh i was already warned because of my Language here, so i want set some Things clear here... I don't have a hacked XBOX and so i can't impossible use Trainers, but others certainly can and do it for sure, and i also know there is a Trainer May Payne 3, but i can only be used on hacked XBox'es of course.....

Also i not say i do edit Achievements, but i know some that do, so i know how it works and also know that its possible to do, even to add Games you not own and set all Achievements, doesn't matter if Offline or Online, both is possible, its a fact... So if you have someone with over 500k GP there is a great Chance something is not right anyway...

And i certainly not do something like that, i simply not see the Point of it anyway, but, and this is just my Opinion, its something different if i have buyed a Game and there is an impossible Achievement and its not going to be fixed...

And well yeahh different People have different looks at different Things, for me its is like, i want complete the Games i buyed before i switch to another, i don't have Problems with challenging Stuff, but it must be possible.. I mean come on i even buyed a second Skyrim only because they not fixed the Achievement Bugs, because i hate to have incomplete Stuff and also i don't like waiting for such Things, i buyed the Game now and want to play and complete it now, not waiting Months for a possible Patch, thats the Way i look at it.....

Also i don't care about Scorelists and certainly don't care to be on a great Place or even 1st, i simply don't care, but since i buyed the Game too because of the Trophies, all Trophies should be possible to be completed, no probs if they are Chellenging, but certainly not impossible... The other Thing is, i don't buy DLC's till i have all others done, also this depends logically too how much i liked the Game and how bugged it was...

Also well i too have bad and good Days, and if i encounter a such Thing on a bad Day then its quite posisble i get enraged and angry, so sorry for the bad Language, here and there, but can't change its my Nature that i sometimes get firey with Words... ;)

Yeah, and i not got any Answers at all so far, perhaps because i clearly asked for a absolute clear Response that everyone will understand for exact that Reason because i read every time something else and read about 5 different Answers from R* alone... Also they even lied about the unskipable Movies, they said they are no Movies they are Loading Screens, but that is a lie, they done it intentionally so that you can't skip them and then show a "Still Loading" to hide that it is actually more a Movie than a Game... So, well, they lie, so why should i trust them anyway... :(

And its not only this Achievement that sucks, the Timechallenges sucks too, because Time is running while i'm unable to move, or Time is running while walking 1 Kilometer without any Enemy's and it eben runs down while waiting for shity Scripted Events where i can't do anything but wait for 20-30 Seconds also some Times in the Scoreliste are provable impossible to get but they still are not removed...

And there are so many Bugs currently that a such Thing like NYMHC is a no go, anyway no Game is Bugfree, so its a no-go to do a such Thing without any Failsafes... Some believed you get an Checkpoint after Discswap, but not even then you get one, so if you die after the Discswap you have to swap the Disc again because they was so stupid to not code it in that way that only disc one must be in Drive if the Gam eis actually installed on HDD... Like i said i asked Microsoft about it and the y said its not the fault of the XBOX, its solely the fault of the Dev if a Discswap is needed even if the Game is installed, they also mentioned some Games where this actually works... For Singleplayer its not a big Prob, but as soon as you wanna jump between Chapters for the Medals you gonna swap Disk 1000 Times, yeahh for me its a big mess like the unskipable Movies... No Prob to watch them once, but then please i want to skip them...

For me its really like, walking to a Door - Movie - Going out, walking to a Door - Movie - Shooting 10 Enemy's walking to Door - Movie - walking down - Movie - opening Door - Movie - Shooting 8 Enemy - Movie- Walking up - Movie- walking out - Movie - Shooting 3 Enemy - Movie - Walking down - Movie - jump down - Movie - balancing Balcony - Movie - Sniping some Enemy and entering Door - Movie - Placing something - Movie - Shooting Enemy - Movie - placing Stuff - Movie - Shooting 5 Enemy - Movie - Walking out - Movie - Shootout - Movie - walking a bit Big End Movie - then Big Start Movie and all over again.... I ask myself where is the actual Game, i can almost do nothing, everything is Movie.... :(

Important Edit, September 8, 2012:

Unfortunately, Rockstar has implemented a patch that has severely reduced the amount of time you can earn from explosions. Therefore, my guide isn't that useful anymore. However, if you are fine with not getting a timestamp, you can clear your cache and play offline to avoid the new patch. That way you can play NYMH with the old explosion bonuses. Otherwise, and I say this not to be smug, but you're out of luck. I don't see how this draconian mode is possible without the explosion bonuses.

I strongly recommend playing this mode offline and without a patch from now on, to take advantage of the huge time bonuses you get from explosions.
*****************************************************************************************

*****************************************************************************************
Important Edit: Here is what Doctor Lollypop has to say about Rockstar's update. It looks like it is pointless to try to play without the patch. So despite what I wrote above, you'll likely have to play with the patch, with the reduced explosion bonuses, and try your best, hopefully combining my tips below, with tips from other solution writers, and your perseverance and skill, to get this achievement.

From Doctor Lollypop:

"Just as an FYI there no way to clear your cache to remove the patch b/c the last update is a physical save on your Harddrive, and if you delete it, it wont let you play game and will freeze you on the load screen. The only way to actually do this pre patch is to remove the patch save on the harddrive, and all your single player data. then you can do it offline but you'll have to beat it on hard, then NYM, and then you can do NYMHC.

But in my opinion it isnt worth all that effort because you lose all your grind progress, and golden guns. I just beat NYMHC today on my 3rd attempt . I went into CH 14 minutes with 30 minutes banked 2 times and finished the Becker area the 2nd with over 25 minutes left, so its still very possible to do even with the patch."

*****************************************************************************************

------------------------------------------------------------------
First of all, like MarkyShizzle says, don’t even think of trying for this achievement without the following painkiller location guide, written by Infernal from xbox360achievements.org:

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/showthread.php?t=37...

Additionally, my strong recommendation is to complete old school before touching New York Minute Hardcore. Old School trains you to use painkillers manually, and you will want to be accustomed to doing this to avoid Last Man Standing at almost all costs. You don't want your NYMH run being ruined because you entered Last Man Standing and the perpetrator is hidden behind a pillar.
------------------------------------------------------------------

Having said that, here is my guide: To get this achievement, first you need to beat the story mode on any difficulty (easy/medium/hard). That will unlock the regular New York Minute mode. Once you beat the regular New York Minute mode, you can start playing New York Minute Hardcore. Beat New York Minute Hardcore for the achievement. NYMH is basically medium difficulty on a timer, with no deaths allowed whatsoever! You have to beat the entire game in one sitting without dying.

The number one thing you want to aim for in this mode is a big time bank.
You want to accumulate a healthy amount of time playing the easy early chapters. This allows you to take your sweet time and comfortably and patiently fight through the difficult late-game encounters. For example, if you have enough time saved, you can burn 3+ minutes in the airport terminal fight. Or you can spend 2+ minutes trying to smoke the UFE boss in Chapter 13 out of his hole.

You’ll want to become very good at strafing in bullet time to line up headshots. Strafing left and right in bullet time allows you to dodge bullets. You'll see them whiz by your character. But most of all, strafing lets you line up headshots with ease. Even if early game enemies can be killed with shots anywhere to their body, you'll want to be accustomed to lining up headshots because the Cracha Preto and UFE have bullet sponges for chests. And dispatching early game enemies quickly with headshots will grant you additional time bonuses.

However, explosions are the best massive contributors to your time bank. You can add a full minute of time in one brief encounter just from using explosions wisely. First of all, you should note that an explosion will not give any time bonuses if its blast radius doesn't kill enemies. So time your propane tank shots just right, so that the propane tank (or gas canister or vehicle or whatever you shoot) will capture as many enemies as possible in its blast radius. Below I will list the best spots for accumulating giant time bonuses through explosions:

*Chapter 4 Part 1: After you exit the bar building, there are numerous cars you can explode for big time bonuses. Blind fire four shots into the first car you see for a big bonus. After blind firing the four shots, make sure you're not just waiting for the explosion. Passos might get shot while you wait. Go into bullet time and kill one or two of the enemies with your gun while you wait for the explosion. Shoot the second car too. If the second explosion doesn't kill everyone, take care of the stragglers and move on. Once you go further on and you see a cutscene with a black car screeching to a halt, that will be your cue to blow up two or three more cars for time bonuses.

*Chapter 4 Part 2: After you climb to the roof of your apartment building, and before the water tower bullet time sequence, there is one last enemy encounter. There is a propane tank against the wall here. Time the shot right, because the enemies won't spawn right away.

*Chapter 5 Part 1: There are many propane tanks to shoot here. In the first half of this section, there are two wide open fights. Each of these encounters has a propane tank (both of which is the fuel tank for a forklift). Time your shot right, so that the tank explodes when enemies are near its blast radius. Also, before triggering the rickety boat jump sequence, make sure you shoot the propane tank on the stairs. Lastly, at the beginning of the very long docks fight, you will kill a lone gunman before dealing with a boat that swoops in from the left. After dealing with this boat, move onward and pick up the gun that the aforementioned lonesome thug dropped. Use this gun and its zoomed in scope AND bullet time to pop a propane tank that is near four or five guys. You'll get a big bonus from this.

*Chapter 5 Part 2: This is the on-rails boat chapter. There's a big building with a giant propane tank and lots of gas canisters. Shoot the propane tank first and then wait. Once the enemies start congregating inside the building, start shooting the small gas canisters too (there are about three of them). Then kill two or three enemies just to be safe. The explosion takes a really long time to kick in, and I kill two or three just to make sure I don’t die while waiting for the explosion. Anyway, the explosion will eventually occur and you'll get a hefty time bonus. ADDITIONALLY, make sure you take care of the jeep section by exploding every single jeep. Don't kill any of the machine gunners standing on the jeep with direct gunfire. Instead, shoot at each of the trucks to make them explode. This way the machine gunners get caught in the explosion and will reward you with additional time bonuses.

*Chapter 10: When Giovanna is driving the bus, she will approach a gas station. Shoot out both pumps for a big explosion near many enemies.

*Chapter 12: Remember when you needed to blow up that propane tank to blast open a door? Well that door has three enemies in front of it. So instead of taking care of the enemies and then shooting the tank like you probably did in your first run, use bullet time to strafe left out of cover, shoot the propane tank, and then strafe right back into cover. That will get you a modest time bonus.

------------------------------------------------------------------

I also have some general tips for certain difficult sections. Among these tips I outline weird areas that you wouldn't think would be hard, but will fail you unexpectedly.

*Chapter 3: When you and Passos are still together, don't rush through an exit before killing every enemy. Passos will instantly die.

*Chapter 4 Part 2: After the car mechanic fight, when Passos opens the gate, do not wait behind the gate to pick off enemies from afar. Passos will die. You must join him and fight those enemies head on.

*Chapter 5 Part 1: At the very beginning, do not kill the two guys near the jeep stealthily. If you do this stealthily, then you'll skip out on four or five goons that come out to investigate. These guys are easy to kill and will give you an extra 25+ seconds of banked time after headshotting them.

*Chapter 6 Part 1: After the boardroom, you will have two cubicle fights with the IT guy. In both fights, the IT guy is hiding behind you, so make sure you move away from him as soon as possible. You don't want him to get hit by a grenade. I've failed from a grenade hitting him before. As long as you fight away from IT guy, he will be safe from grenades.

*Chapter 6 Part 2: Getting through the burning building is way harder than it appears. Do not casually walk towards any of the enemies in this chapter, even with bullet time, because you have only half health and you have no painkillers. Furthermore, Max is partially injured and blinded in this chapter, so aiming will be unusually difficult. Make sure to patiently stay in cover and kill the enemies very carefully. Burn off some of your accumulated time to get through this chapter safely.

*Chapter 8: The sniper part is the hardest encounter in this chapter, because he'll instantly fail you if he shoots you. I have no real tips, other than take your sweet time. You should have enough time banked to comfortably burn 3 full minutes at the sniper fight alone. So just take your time and be careful.

*Chapter 9: Courtesy of user Hurricane of 87 from xbox360achievements.org. "At the beginning of Chapter 9 there's [an] easy melee kill on the UFE thug with the helmet. Since it's hard to get multiple headshots in a row with no Bullet Time available it's better to run up to the wall, then pop out and let him have it, THEN use the BT you just earned on the bald guy slightly down the stairs."

*Chapter 10: You must try to minimize your bullet time consumption in the very first fight of this chapter. Don't use shootdodge, and try to get as many non-bullet-time kills as possible. This is because the second fight is against two one-hit-kill snipers. One-hit-kill snipers will give you an instant game over screen if they shoot you, even if you have painkillers left! So save some bullet time for those snipers, and use it to easily dispatch them.

*Chapter 11: Here's a tip for the part when you're in the balcony on the yacht and you're fighting guys emerging from jeeps from across the canal. Courtesy of user Hurricane of 87 from xbox360achievements.org.

"Immediately run past the initial wide open balcony area, you don't want to get stuck here, total deathtrap/waste of ammo. While running use Bullet Time to take out the first guy. Run into the next room and pick up the 2 PKs off the table, then crouch and slowly step out from behind the wall to pick them off one by one whether it be through the door you entered this room by or though the broken windows behind the piano.

“I find standing behind an obstacle and slowly edging out with LT aiming to be superior to taking cover and popping out. You can edge out just so their heads are visible, but even though you can see them and they can presumably see you they don't fire until you step too far out."

*Chapter 13: Absolutely do NOT try to shoot the first guy in this chapter. If you pop out of cover at the wrong time, the dude will juke his head and you'll miss your head shot and he'll kill you INSTANTLY since you have no painkillers... and then you'll restart all the way to Chapter 1. Instead, run up to him and melee kill him for an easy +10 seconds.

*Chapter 13: Courtesy of user Lima from xbox360achievements.org. GRAB THE GRENADE LAUNCHER in the armoured car sequence in Chapter 13! This will make an UFE encounter later in the chapter dirt easy. I’m speaking of the sequence where they all emerge from an elevator. Just hit them with the grenade launcher while they are all bunched up and they'll die easily. Remember that there are two elevators. So after you kill the first batch of guys, wait a few seconds, and aim slightly to the left of the first elevator. There will be smoke obscuring your vision, but sure as you're born, there is an additional elevator to the left of the first one and three more guys will emerge from there.

***Extremely Important Warning about the Grenade Launcher: people like Just Blaze (from xbox360achievements.org) and MarkyShizzle (from TrueAchievements.com) have been screwed over using explosives at the elevator scene, blowing themselves up accidentally. To avoid this, shoot out the entire glass pane on the right with your pistol before you approach the security console.

*Chapter 13: After the pushcart sequence, be wary of the sniper with a red laser... he's a one-hit-kill sniper. Like I mentioned before, this is a guy who will instantly fail you if he shoots you, no matter how many painkillers you have.

*Chapter 14: Do what MarkyShizzle does in his video at the beginning of this chapter. Get off the conveyor belt and hide at the very back and slowly pick everyone off. You should have enough time banked to comfortably handle this area.

*Chapter 14: In the Becker boss fight, abuse shootdodge, going left first, then right and left and right and left over and over again. When I did this, Becker did throw grenades at me and I was forced to pick them off in slow-mo shootdodge. It's scary, but doable.

You provided great tips. Thanks for the time and effort it took you.
I just finished this mode but these tips should be helpfull for everyone attempting this.
I used the grenade launcher in all my runs after shooting out the window and I never blew myself up.
Just be sure to use bullet time to perfectly aim and you should be fine.

I had the roof fall on me there as well. After that I just held A and the left joystick up the entire time during that sequence and it didn't happen again. Who knows with this game though...

I don't know if this is worth putting on or I'm just retarded but I had a lot of trouble with the rpg in chapter 2 when you fall out of the helicopter. The first RPG isn't in slow mo and I died from it like 5-6 times for whatever reason :P on the night I actually got the achievement I died twice in a row at this point, then the third time I beat the whole thing lol

Thanks for the heads up on the explosion bonus. Don't know if I'm going to ever go through with this masochistic achievement, but it's good to know about the patch.

Just a quick question i tried to clear my cache but it won't give me the update when i load the game up. How do i get the update to appear? Thanks.

Hey Legend sorry for the late reply.

I think there's a bit of confusion here. Are you saying you want an update to appear? As long as you are connected to Xbox Live when you load your game up, you will be prompted to download the update. If you already have the latest game update, you will not be prompted to update your Max Payne 3 game.

For your information, clearing your cache deletes game updates. My suggestion at the beginning of my solution was to clear the cache to remove the game update. This is because the game update makes NYMH harder by dramatically reducing explosion bonuses.

If you have cleared your cache, and you want to play NYMH without the update, you must ensure that you are offline. Otherwise you'll be forced to re-download the update.

The other solutions are great, so I only have personal experience to contribute. I didn't find particular chapters to be hard, but rather specific fights:

Chapter 6A - The 4th fight (where guys are attacking from all angles) was the first hard part in the game. I found that hiding in the original entry hall and using the cover on the right hand side worked effectively. When grenades were thrown, I'd hit BT and roll out, let it explode, and roll back to the cover. Just FYI, there are 4 painkillers on desks in this area, so don't worry about finishing this fight with zero. Just be careful not to advance afterwards until you have all 4.

Chapter 6B - All of this is tough, as you don't get any PKs. You start with full BT, so use it!

Chapter 8 - Has 3 tough spots. The first is in the small graveyard after the grenade launcher guy. Take your time here and save your PKs, as you'll need them for the big circular fight. The circular fight (when you save Passos) can be a drain on your PK supply. Shootdodge. Shootdodge A LOT. And know where your enemies are. The last hard part, for me, was the sniper. For some reason, despite being very careful, he'd land shots on me all the time. Don't spend too much time in the open.

Chapter 10 - Can be easy, if you survive the 2nd area with lots of PKs. I immediately killed the sniper up top. Then move right to the bus. Use your angle to take out the guys behind the bus with a shotty. Then move up and use BT to finish off the 3 guys who exited the little building. Try to have at least 2-3 PKs left at the end of this part. The 4th fight is the big challenge. Take out as many guys as possible as quickly as possible. Don't stick around behind the small cover once the grenades start flying; dive/roll your way behind either one of the buses and move up from there. And be careful of Last Stand. It's easy to get hit by a guy who ducks back behind cover in this part.

Chapter 11 - The boat sucks. The exploding engines will refill your health, so don't waste a PK before this part. When you get to the side where guys run/drive up on the edge of the canal, take cover immediately. 1/4 of the cover is indestructible, so use that part and don't hide behind the glass. Then move up the stairs slowly, snipe guys' feet and legs. Once only a couple are left, run up quickly, snapping in and out of BT and killing the 2-3 guys that are left. Then use the bar on the left as cover to take out the new guys who run up on the side of the canal. The sniper part can be tough. Don't let yourself enter Last Man Standing. After that, it's cake.

Chapter 13 - The hardest parts in this level really depend on your play style. I don't like rushing this level, as I'm not great at standing in a hail of bullets and walking out alive. Some folks are. The APC is easy: as soon as it stops shooting, hit X to leave cover, grab the LAW, shootdodge backwards and carefully shoot it. Done. Now, you've got a choice. I prefer to finish this area with the FAL, not the grenade launcher (Last Man Standing is instant death with the launcher). Grab the rifle you dropped, then move right and use the left-shoulder angle to peer out into the parking lot. Guys will run toward you in the open (if you've got the proper angle, they won't see you yet), giving you tons of time to pop their heads with BT. After this area is 100% clear, grab the grenade launcher. DO NOT EQUIP IT UNLESS YOU ARE ABOUT TO USE IT. Use your pistol to take out the guy behind the door that pops open. You can use the launcher to carefully take out the 3 guys at the top of the stairs. You can also use it CAREFULLY to take out the 2 groups of guys that enter the locker room through the double doors. Use your pistol for the next 2 rooms. When you enter the room with the security screens/elevators, DO NOT GO IN THE SECURITY ROOM YET. Make sure to break ALL the glass with your pistol first. Don't leave a single shard. When the cutscene ends, you'll be in cover behind the (now open) windows. Switch to your launcher, activate BT and quickly shoot a grenade at the first group of guys. Immediately go back in cover and, once safe, deactivate BT. Repeat this for the second elevator as soon as the new green lasers appear in the smoke. If you miss with your first grenade, DO NOT try to fire a second. You will almost surely get shot and enter Last Man Standing (and lose). If they die, great. If not, swap to your pistols and finish them off as you please. The second tough part in this level is after the QTE where you slide across the room on the cart and shoot out the windows. There is a sniper that comes out after the QTE ends. He has a red laser on his gun and is a 1-hit kill. Prioritize and kill him immediately. As soon as you kill the guys outside, the cage behind you will buzz open and guys will rush you. Immediately spin around and kill the first one. Then enter that room and slowly strafe sideways, taking out the other guys as they come into view. One guy may hide in the room beyond the one most of the other rush from. The other tough part is Bachmeyer (the boss). When you regain control of Max on the upper walkway, enter BT and move towards the guys running up the stairs. Kill them and the 3rd guy at the bottom of the stairs. Then take cover behind the pillar he is standing beside. This is a much safer spot than the upper walkway. A couple guys will rush you to your left. Possibly one on the right, but sometimes not. After that, it's easy. Clean up the remaining guys. When you fight Bachmeyer, use a video guide. Don't expose yourself to his shots for more than a second. He can kill you almost instantly. You can use the filing cabinet to the left of where you start the battle. He can't hit you when you are there and you can use your shoulder angles to shoot the ceiling tiles while effectively staying out of his line of fire.

Chapter 14 - This level, oddly, is much easier than 13. The first room is tough. Get off the conveyor belt, move left and back, hide behind the cover. Take your time taking the guys out on the ground floor and the 1 guy on the catwalk. Then move up. 2 more guys will run out on the catwalk. Shoot them. Sometimes 1 guys will hide on the ground floor behind the carts to the right side. Then move up the stairs. Use the left-shoulder perspective to carefully take out the guys on the catwalk. Step out the door to spawn the rest, then step back into the stairwell. Carefully clear them. Be careful of the guy on the catwalk at the back of the room. The big terminal fight is actually pretty easy if you have the right strategy. Immediately take out the 3 guys to your right. Then run to the left. Snap in and out of BT as you go, taking out guys as they pop out. Move up on the left side of the pillars, snapping in and out of BT. Guys will be behind the pillars, behind some of the seats, and some will come from way down the terminal. Once you pass the weird angled dividers, there will be a painkiller on the desk by the departure gate on your immediate left. There are also 3 guys on the immediate right. 1 on the upper walkway, 1 behind the conveyor belts/plants, and 1 behind the close pillar. After you kill them, move up using the pillars for cover. Guys will come down the stairs and the gate will open, allowing 4 guys to come through. Kill them all as quick as possible from as far away as possible. The closer you get, the more they will hit you and the more grenades they will throw. STAY IN COVER. Don't expose yourself too much or you'll get torn up. If you're careful and fast enough, you can get through this part using 1-2 PKs maximum. Before you move on past the terminal, there are 4 painkillers to pick up. 1 at a departure gate near the angled dividers, 2 at the last departure gate on the left, and 1 at the top of the escalators on the right side in the middle of the terminal. After this, until Becker, it's easy. Just take your time and use the shoulder perspectives to peer around cover effectively. Watch for guys hiding in the trains.

Becker - This part can suck. Always keep your eye on Becker. Don't ever look away for too long. Kill one guy, look back to Becker. Kill another, look at him again, etc. Getting shot up and using PKs is far preferable to eating a game-ending grenade, like I did my first time. Always save a bit of BT in case he launches a surprise grenade. If you've got a tiny bit left, opt to kill enemies without it rather than draining it all the way. If you get stuck with none and a grenade is coming, shootdodge away and get ready to use PKs to recover as you get back into cover. Don't go too far right or you'll get insta-killed. once the police car comes (after the jeeps), one of the cops that gets out will start throwing hand grenades at you. Take him out ASAP, as two sources of grenades is just way too much. After that, you're ready to go. Once you run up the stairs to kill Becker and enter the QTE, be calm. I actually lost the game at this point (URGH). My perspective was over the left shoulder, meaning I wasn't able to see the grenade. I hit right on the d-pad to shift perspective to my right-shoulder. Instead, the game spun Max around 180 degrees and pointed him at the wall. It wouldn't let me do another 180 degree turn and I had nowhere near enough time to turn back around normally. So, yeah, be aware that that can happen. angry

Plane - I know some folks think this part is easy. I love blowing up the jeeps, helicopter, and cop cars, but I SUCK at shooting down Victor's jet. I lost here on regular NYM several times before I finally won. I didn't want to fail NYMHC here as well. I watched several guides to see exactly where to shoot the grenades and took him down easily. You only get a few seconds, so make those shots count. If you've had trouble here before, don't wing it; check out a video or two. On a personal note, I love watching that plane come down every time. It's so satisfying to make that bastard pay for everything he did. clap

My only other suggestions are:

1. Use the PK guide that Marky and Actual link to. It's incredibly useful! Save your PKs, but never let yourself get near Last Man Standing. If you're half red, use one. Be aware that the first 2 PKs listed in Chapter 9 aren't actually obtainable in NYM or NYMHC. Here's the link again (thanks to Infernal): http://www.xboxachievements.com/forum/showthread.php?t=37177...

2. Certain levels will build up your time like crazy. The first few, specifically 5, are useful. The end of 10 also helps a lot. If you have 10-15 mins left when you enter Chapter 13, take it slow at parts that usually give you a hard time. It's better to burn a minute than to fail due to haste.

3. If you're stuck in a tough fight and are having trouble pinpointing your enemies, PAUSE THE GAME. You can look around while paused (and your stats will disappear to make it even easier to see).

4. I found that playing Hardcore and Old School really helped me hone strategies for this mode. Once you build up a fair bit of time, you can take an extra second here and there to employ techniques that kept you safe through much more dangerous difficulties. Each chapter has a balance of speed and caution and no two are exactly the same.

5. Learn to tap in and out of bullet time efficiently! Don't waste it by walking, tracking all the way across the screen, diving and letting it run, etc. If you only spend about 1/4-1/2 of a second in BT per use, you can significantly extend the amount you have and how long you can maintain it during long battles. Learn to constantly turn it on and off at the exact right times.

I know this doesn't add a whole lot to existing guides, but I figured I'd share my strategies for the parts that stymied my progress again and again. I hope it ends up helping someone get this ridiculous achievement!!! smile Remember guys, be persistent. We've all had horribly frustrating failures on this one.

Know Everything
Play through on Hard, Oldschool, and Hardcore. Then beat NYM and try to platinum each level. (You're going to need to know where the enemies come from, how many there are, and where you can take them out the easiest). You should also know where all the painkillers are.
General Advice
Don't Shootdodge unless you're out of bullet time (You get shot a lot when you're getting up, it drains most of your bullet time, and if you're at the wrong spot you can dive off a ledge and die.) Dual wield, try and have two different weapons (like a pistol and uzi) You don't want to run out of bullets in last stand (You can use rifles if you're comfortable but don't risk it with shotguns or rocket launchers). Use your pills. (Last stand is glitchy and more often than not I'd be in a spot where I can't find him or can't shoot him because something's in the way). If you are in last stand press start to pause and look around to see if you can spot them. Take your Time near the end. (Chapter 13 and 14) You should have plenty of time. (I had 30 min). If at anytime you're nervous or anxious take a break and settle your nerves. (I listened to music during my attempts to calm my nerves).
Tough Spots
If you know the levels by heart then there will be a few spots that will end it for you. Don't shoot your allies (Pasos or Fabiana). Make sure you're paying attention during certain events (The beginning of chapter 4 shoot the guido after the load screen, The end of chapter 9 quicktime events after cutscene, The rocket launcher guy during the chapter 10 bus ride).
The first 3 chapters should be easy The first tough spot for me was the end of
Chapter 4 part 1.
Use your pills and try to blow up all the cars. This should take out everyone but a few stragglers.
Chapter 6 part 1 The last fight escorting the kid.
Use cover and try to work your way to the left and through the cubicles to pick up some pills during the fight since you start with only a few. Try to stay on the perimeter and watch out for grenades. pick up all 4 pills before moving on.
Chapter 6 part 2
You have no painkillers and 2 hits will kill you. Use bullet time on every enemy and know where they are before they can shoot you (even the guy who's badly burned)
Chapter 7 the last area with the molotovs being thrown at you.
Use bullet time and take out the two left guys then the top right guy another left guy will show up in the lower building take him out and you should be done without even seeing a molotov. (If you see one shoot it because they will kill you instantly).
Edit: In speed running the game I've noticed this part is essentially pointless... You can just immediately leave cover and just shoot the guy coming down the stairs and you can just move on.
Chapter 8 The grenade launcher, the circle, and The end
Shoot the guy with the grenade launcher first and you should be fine.
After you take out the guy with a gun to Pasos' head dual wield to your left and take out everyone (make sure you get the guy behind the planter) then proceed forward. You will either be spamming shoot dodge, which should work since there isn't much to run into, or bullet time because there are several enemies and they'll take you out quickly. Last stand is pretty much worthless due to the distance and the obstacles).
At the end you need to go upstairs and cover Pasos I usually pick up the shotgun, but reloading takes forever and sometimes the running enemies get near him. Keep your dual wielded weapons and shoot the guys running up the aisles first.
Chapter 9 the last fight leading to the long cutscene
They take away your rifle so make sure you have two guns hopefully one is a smg. After you drop down two guys will sprint up the stairs so use bullet time and aim towards the right. Don't take a break during the cutscene because you can die during the quicktime events.
Chapter 10 the beginning snipers and the rocket launcher
Make sure you have bullet time after your first encounter because you'll need it to take out the snipers. If you get shot you're done (happened to me and I was furious). Same goes for the rocket launcher just make sure that after you pass the gas station you save your bullet time because that guy is basically the only time you need it. (I glitched out in the final standoff at the end so I'd recommend pausing and letting it load up for a couple seconds because sometimes it can't handle the amount of enemies and explosions.
Chapter 11
I didn't have many problems with this chapter just remember to get the pills in your room at the beginning and in the last room on the left. Try not to use them before the engine room because you will heal then get them back after you stop the engines. After you pass the piano rush the stairs and take out the guys running out of the middle then immediately go back down the stairs to take care of the guys on the dock to the right.
Chapter 12
the first room with guys behind cover rush the left pathway, take out the guys at the end of the path, then shoot the propane. (that should take out everyone but one guy). Next room take out the two guys in the right hallway then slowly take out everyone else. Then proceed to the left and use bullet time to take out the guy with the RPD. Use bullet time on the three guys waiting for you and don't forget the pills by the guy with the RPD from before. When you get to the sniper rifle make sure you keep it and use your pistol to take out everyone. Get the pills to your right after you climb the last set of stairs. Switch to the sniper rifle, shoot dodge, and get a head shot for a 1 hit kill.
Chapter 13 Probably the toughest level
Melee the first guy. Wait for the tank to stop firing then pick up the law, bullet time or shoot dodge to take it out. When you enter the security room with the monitors before the elevator don't switch weapons and try to kill as many as you can before the smoke then you can switch guns. Pick your shots and shoot just above the lasers. Watch out for the snipers after the sliding shoot scene. When the gate opens shoot the shot gunner rushing in. Make sure you shoot the snipers in the training course. When you enter the last room bullet time and kill the guys rushing the stairs shoot the guy who pops out on the left then take cover behind the pillar. After the cutscene take out the the guys and roll to the front and into the room on the right and grab the pills. Slowly (and CAREFULLY) expose yourself to shoot the tiles. (I died here and it was devastating). Then shoot the two guys rushing you and repeat until the vent falls and you can use bullet time to shoot the boss.
Chapter 14
Roll to the left and into cover and TAKE YOUR TIME. After you go up the stairs you can take out 1 guy before crossing the threshold. After you cross the threshold step back because two guys will rush out. Get the pills in the locker then the room at the end on the left then to the right in the bathroom. When you're in the terminal take out the guys to the right then proceed up the left side there are pills on each counter on the left side. (Watch out for upper level enemies after you reach the wall). Stay on the ground floor and take your time. There are more pills at the top of the escalators. When you fight Becker make sure use your pills and keep some bullet time for his grenades shortly after each vehicle arrives.

If you fail don't be discouraged it becomes easier with experience and you'll become less nervous each time. Killing Becker is the most satisfying thing if you've failed multiple times.
Good luck.

I was recently asked if I had any tips, tricks or helpful advice on how to get this achievement. This is my response (minus the pleasantries and bad language) so, it may read a little off, but keep in mind this started as a private message response, so it will read a bit like one. I unlocked this achievement 11/06/2014 and it was online. The update did not and does not make this achievement any harder. Nor does it make it impossible to do. I did this my second attempt, my first was the victim of the last chance mechanic (I wish you could turn that off for NYMHC).

Right, I should start off by saying how I went about it, then I'll try to give you any tips and/or tricks I used to get the achievement.

I played through in this order; Hard, old school, hardcore, NYM, and finally NYMHC. I always played with free-aim on.
I found it better to ignore written guides and comments about this achievement, most people haven't got it, yet complain and misinform about its difficulty. If you need help watch a video of someone doing it and try to imitate them.

Anyway, tips that helped me and should help you.

Goes without saying, but try for headshots, it can be worth wasting a second lining up a shot to get ten seconds in return for a successful headshot. Be careful not to waste more time than it is worth.

If you have the gold guns, use them, don't let people make you think you're bad because you used them... they're there and they help.

Have a decent idea where most, but not all, of the painkillers are. Trying to always have max painkillers is just a waste of time, you should always have enough to get to the next lot of painkillers.

I used painkillers whenever I was about half way to dying. If you have over four or five, pop as many as you need. NEVER! rely on the last chance, I failed my first attempt because, as I fell, a bit of cover blocked the guy who killed me. I was half-way through chapter eleven.

In connection with ignoring bad advice, time is not a concern, you should have more than enough to beat the game. I read a lot of comments about, how you need thirty minutes clocked up by chapter ten... this is not true and also not necessary, you won't need that much time. I started the last level with just over thirteen minutes on the clock. My total time at the end was 121 minutes (I can't remember the seconds), two hours of actual playing, but in total, it'll take about four hours to do. I played to get the achievement, not to be the fastest at it. (My advice will reflect this.)

That brings me to my next tip, take breaks... especially if you fail.
You can pause the game and the timer, whenever you want. I paused every five parts, (there is seventeen total), got a cup of coffee, made a sandwich, went to the toilet ... whatever you need to do. I also paused to refill my glass, I drank about six pints of water while getting this achievement. If your hands are sweaty, take a minute and dry them.

If you want to get extra time blow up boats, jeeps and those little canisters where ever possible, it will get you quite a bit of time in the long run.

It is often better to NOT take cover, instead, use the trick of shooting almost trough it, these games work in a way where if you can see them you can shoot... even if something should block your shot. (I hope that was clear)

The bullet-dodge (slow-mo jump) is risky, I rarely did it. Bullet-time (where you can walk while shooting) is by far the better of the two. Use it as often as you can. Only use bullet-dodge if you no other option, and you're confident it will work and not mess you over.

The only other thing I can think of, and it is a important tip. Know what parts you previously struggled with, and be ready for them. For me the part on the yacht, the boss at the end of the gaol level (second to last level), and the last level can be tricky. At the start of the last level (Airport), bulletdodge, the cover is terrible and there is way too many enemies to try and use it. In my opinion this is the level where bulletdodge works really well, there is a lot of room to dive about and it should help you get to the train part. So, bulletdodge as much as you need to, but just be careful. I would suggest watching a video or replaying the boss with the grenade launcher, one mistake on NYMHC will instantly kill you. Roughly, he fires a grenade every time a new wave comes in, so in other words, every time a new car comes in, he fires. BE READY FOR THIS.

Other than that, I hope this helps. I also hope it was clear and accurate, there is a lot of things to say about this and it can be hard to make it clear in a written solution like this.

Just remember two things, it is NOT a test of skill, or even, technical prowess... it's a test of endurance. Second, keep in mind what you can afford to do, and what you can't. Sometimes you can afford to be more aggressive, others you won't be able to. It's a mixture of pills and ammo that will ultimately decide it.

This mode is unlocked after beating the game on any difficulty. You initially have only have 1 minute to finish each chapter, but kills earn you more time. The timer will stop during cut scenes and slows in bullet time. Headshots, cover, precision and bullet time will be crucial on this playthrough as well as speed. Use the Painkiller Location Guide. Painkillers are very handy in your NYM:HC playthrough as well as Old School and Hardcore playthroughs.

If you die in this playthrough you will restart back at chapter one, so be very careful when toward the end.

An excellent video guide with a description of problem areas and the location of painkillers. The entire passage takes about 3 hours (the game starts from 1 minute):

Part 1 - https://youtu.be/8XlB94s3iaU

Part 2 - https://youtu.be/l1vGUPOb5Vo

Part 3 - https://youtu.be/vNT5NsYUd70

Part 4 - https://youtu.be/9owqdRr-6sw

Don't forget to "like" the author of the video, the person tried his best.

Adviсe:

  • As already mentioned, the difficulty of the enemies is average (there is the possibility of a last stand).
  • It is better to swallow Painkillers yourself, at a HP level of about 80%. Time will be running out after a few chapters.
  • Use bullet time more often (for ease of aiming and headshots. A regular kill gives +5 sec, head +6). It is restored when killed in normal mode, so it is better to finish off the last one in the group this way
  • Pay special attention to story situations, the failure of which will result in a game over (marked with a red “One hit kill” marker in the videos)
  • Sometimes it is more convenient to hide behind cover. than to “stick” to it

My homemade scope made from masking tape!
It greatly facilitates quick aiming while running and allows you to accurately aim at the desired enemy while behind cover.
Easy to stick to the screen and easy to remove. Traces of glue can be removed with a damp cloth.

When passing through, it is better to go offline, there is less chance of getting a glitch, if I was online, then in Chapter 7 opponents appeared every other time, which led to endless wandering around an empty location.

On chapter 13, where you go into the control room, you look at the cameras and the guys come out of the elevator. I entered this room, but the game did not launch the cut scene, I wandered around and was about to turn it off. BUT! I went in and stood near the console, pressed Pause and then released it, and the cutscene started. I hope this information will help someone, maybe this is how you can deal with cut scenes not starting in other chapters.

in principle, it’s not difficult, I played online version 1.09, the figure only froze in the area, as described above - the solution, we ran into the room, killed 3x in the center, one from the left and then 2x from the left flank in the office. I glued the sight to the TV, it’s generally easy, a headshot on a headshot, and most importantly - even if you can’t hit the head, we shoot in the testicles, there’s no armor there, so bang-bang and that’s it)))

The level of difficulty in terms of damage here is not average. It is identical to the Old School difficulty level, only in the single player there is no last chance, but here there is. I also started checking the cemetery on the average difficulty level in single player and I will say that there is a difference between heaven and earth, but the old school is one to one identical to the time waits mode - hardcore.

In general, the complexity is mixed here. From the 1st to the 7th chapter there is a difficulty level of “Medium”, and starting from the 8th chapter “Old School”, especially all its charm is revealed in the 13th chapter.

There were 3 attempts in total, on the first I caught a bug with an infinite zoom for a kill in the last chance at the end of the 4th chapter, on the second I died from a sniper in the 9th chapter, because... due to the change in difficulty, its viewing angle, so to speak, turned out to be greater than in the usual “Time Waits”, but on the third attempt I passed without any problems.
I didn’t catch any bugs, I completed Chapter 13 without any problems, using all the rocket launchers and the grenade launcher (there is a version that the bug is caused by using explosive things).
I advise you to train armored opponents, especially the one on the roof of the hotel, to run through all levels just like in “Time Waits for No Time,” but starting from Chapter 9, you need to be faster and don’t really count on what you can do lean out of cover for a long time in slow motion as before, because it will arrive very quickly, also expect surprises in the form of grenades that the enemies did not throw before and sometimes you will be missing some enemies or vice versa.
As for the bug that usually happens to most in the 13th chapter in the office, I have no idea how I didn’t catch it, but I can say that I didn’t enter “Last Chance” until the last shootout (there they threw several grenades at me and everything didn't go according to plan ), I didn’t use golden weapons, the time slowdown effect was also turned off, I skipped all cutscenes, in the office, out of habit, I went to the left side, because... You can see more people from there, but halfway there I remembered that it seemed like I couldn’t go there, so in a panic I tumbled to the right.
As for preparing for this mode, I completed the game only on hard, all for platinum in the “Time does not wait” mode, after which I watched this run at x2 speed, and then actually started the playthrough itself, which took about 2 hours 30 minutes.
PS: The timer at the time of the last shootout in the hangar was more than 50 minutes. Digital version of the game.

Maybe it will help someone. I encountered a bug in Chapter 13 (police station) in a room where, after killing ordinary enemies, an armored man with a machine gun (LMG) runs in. So the game froze twice for me if I was on the left side of the room at the moment of killing the last enemy before the armored one (once on disk, another time I tried to play on digital and the same freeze). I advise you to immediately run to the right after entering the room and hide behind cover on the right side of the room (this is the only way I could avoid getting stuck). I played with the settings: golden weapons disabled, offline, item illumination on, single sight for all weapons, stereo sound, digital version of the game.

Don't chase the trophy. No need to try again and again. Complete the game on hardcore, old school and multiplayer. But, play everywhere with a free aim. After all this, this trophy will not seem so difficult. The difficulty of the trophy is to find the strength in yourself and complete the game in a sitting. In terms of damage, the difficulty level here is Medium, there are plenty of painkillers. So be patient and Your
