How to unlock the Kshatriya achievement in Metro Last Light - Definitive Guide

This is a pretty long portion of the DLC. It involves going to the library to get artifacts. Here's my top hints for survival....

1) The only gun you need is one you have - the pistol that shoots incendiary rounds.
2) Sell the other gun, and any other ammo, other than the ammo for the pistol.
2a) Trust me, you need no other weapon in this game!
3) Play on easy :)

Head to the surface and collect the first five items - they are all super easy to find. Loot every drawer and desk you see.

Now go back to the base and sell the artifacts. You should have enough money to buy the suit on the left that makes your filters last longer. Buy it. If you have any cash left, buy a couple more filters. Every time you go back, buy at least one filter. You don't need to buy any more rounds because (a) the pistol one-shots nosalis and (b) there's plenty of ammo lying around.

As you progress, new exits appear that allow you to get back to your base quicker.

Remember, if you shoot a nosalis, loot it. Don't shoot any other mutant, including especially the librarians. You will lose.

The level finishes when you get the map of the Metro and return to your base. You can find the map deep in the library in what appears to be a archive of some kind. You know you are close when you meet a second set of Librarians deep in the bowels of the library. The Librarian is sleeping, and wakes up. Just stay crouched and don't take your eyes off of him. When he jumps to the level above, go past him and take the ladder up. You'll see a chair in front of you, the vault is on the same wall as the chair. Watch out for the Librarian!!! Enter the vault/archive and the map is on the floor. Now return to the base and the cheev pops as you walk thru the door you use to make your checkpoint saves.

Question : Do You Have To Get All Artifacts For The Mission To Be Completed and Get The Cheevo? In Other Words , Is This and The "Artifact" Achievement Stacked Together?

Hey @quick, you are right - I will edit the solution. by "having" I really meant to say "having and returned to the base"

I saw a different glitch - shoot a nosalis and it'd be dead, with a green crosshair, but still moving!! The exact opposite to you :)

I found that the uboinik (six shot shotgun) to be way more efficient of a weapon. It's not too expensive and you can always trade in your other weapons to get it. I bought it right away and was glad I did. Just make sure you buy a couple filters first. wink

I just got this and the Artifact achievement and the same exact glitch happened to me that happened to Hamoon, made it easier to get back to base.

I liked this DLC, it was pretty good.

This dlc is bullshit twice the librarians have killed me in the room where one is sleeping and the room before that one.
The first death was when I had to stare down two at once.
The second If your on a platform and there is not enough room for them to be stared down they go ape shit and kill you.

I was frustrated too - it took a few attempts to get past the brutes... just take it easy and don't rush!

Just collect all 30 artifacts, return them in to guy, and finish the level by going to polis station.

You can speedrun this mission in around 6-7 minutes. Although there is an achievement for getting all the artefacts on the 360 version, I thought I'd include this video for the speedrun for those that aren't completionists and just want to knock out a quick/easy achievement.

The Kshatriya mission starts at 09:00

When the level begins, you will be introduced to Kuzmich who will give a brief speech detailing the arms and equipment he has for sale. After which you’ll introduced to Shaman, the artifacts collector, who will brief you on what artifacts you’re going to be looking for during your trips to the surface and the Great Library. There is a panel next to his station that shows what items can be located and returned from the surface. When you bring him an artifact, it will be crossed off the list so you can easily see what you still have left to look for on subsequent trips. You can only carry 5 artifacts at a time before your bag is full and you must return to the base and trade them.

Returned artifacts will be evaluated by Shaman, who will give you an amount of Military Grade Rounds (MGR) based on the value of each item. You can then use the MGR to purchase weapons and equipment from Kuzmich. Keep in mind that you will be using a lot of filters and that each time you buy one the price will increase, so try not to purchase too many up front. The weapons you choose to purchase are entirely up to you, but you should be saving up to purchase the Environment suit as it will extend the life of your filters and keep you from taking damage from extreme weather you will encounter on the surface.

As you open the doors that lead into the first sewer area, you will be told that you also have the task of replacing light bulbs in the empty sockets you’ll find scattered around the map. Again, you only have so many before they run out, but you can replenish your supply from the light bulb box near the sewer entrance. This is not a mandatory task, but it does help improve navigation of the level.

The map seems rather small to begin with, but you will find that there are doors and gates to unlock that allow further progress into the level – and shortcuts back to base. In general, if you are searching for artifacts thoroughly, when your bag fills up use that as an indicator to start looking around for a shortcut to open that will lead you back to base. You can then use this shortcut to get back to where you were scavenging and continue on. Be sure to use the Save Door when you come back to base to save your progress as well.

Enemies on the level are randomly spawning Nosalises with Lurkers and Librarians in set positions, most of which can be avoided completely. Also, Librarians can still be stared down just as in Metro 2033. One of the biggest obstacles to be aware of is the fact that many times when you return to base, Nosalises will attack in packs as you wait for the doors to open. Bear this in mind when returning to base.

The player can explore the level as long as they want, up until the Secret Subway Map is obtained. As soon as that artifact is returned to Shaman, the level will end regardless of how many other artifacts have been retrieved.

To complete the level you need to find the Metro-2 Map. It will be in the same place where Artyom found the folder with documents about D6.
