How to unlock the My Way achievement in Microsoft Flight Simulator - Definitive Guide
Now that this achievement is fixed, I figured that I would write a solution on how to actually get it, since both of the other solutions are out of date.
First of all, all of your difficulty settings in the assist menu need to be set to True to Life for the entirety of the flight. If they ever get changed from this, (there's a couple ways that you can trigger this on accident) the achievement won't pop.
Therefore, for the entirety of your flight, you need to:
1. Never completely close the Checklist or ATC tab. Minimization is fine.
2. Never use the AI pilot. (Autopilot is fine)
3. Never open the VFR map.
So now, for the flight which I used. This flight is very simple, as the travel in which you need to do around the airports (especially the starting one) is relatively short. Keep in mind, you can use any route or any plane for this. The route just needs to be beyond 300 miles.
I flew from MMBT to MGGT. IFR Low-altitude airways.
Depart from Parking 1 from MMBT, and change the approach under MGGT to "ILS 02-Z"
Have your plane be the Textron Aviation Cessna Citation CJ4.
The total flight time should be a little over 50 minutes, which is very fast.
Go ahead and spawn in.
Your plane will be cold and dark. It can be frustrating to get it fired up, unless you know what to do.
The checklist is helpful, but it asks you to do way more than what is necessary. I will list the steps which you actually need to do.
First of all, press F3 (or whichever button on console) which revs your throttle up all the way to 100%.
*Page refers to the page in which the action is listed on the checklist. The reason why I list it is so you can press the little eyeball icon to see where the button/lever you need to pull is located.*
1.Battery switch on (First page)
2.Avionics master switch on (Third page)
3. Push right engine starter (Second page)
3. Wait 5 seconds, Push engine run/stop (Right) (Second page)
4. Push left engine starter (Second page)
5. Wait 5 seconds, Push engine run/stop (Left) (Second page)
The engines will start to fire up. Once your plane starts moving, (with the parking brake still engaged) cut the engines down to idle. (F1 on PC)
Follow some ATC commands until it tells you to taxi to the runway. You need to go to the runway which is to the right of where you started. Come to a complete stop before the line (on the road connecting the main area and the runway) and clear yourself for takeoff through ATC commands.
Assuming you know how to use autopilot, get it set up so that you can immediately engage it once in the air.
If you do not know how to use autopilot:
From this position, you need to take off towards the right side of the runway, not the left. Go ahead and take off, and then once you're a little bit into the air, engage autopilot. You will now be flown the entire way there. You need to be here watching it though, as your ATC commands will most likely tell you to ascend and descend several times, which you cannot ignore.
Once you arrive, (near the airport) clear yourself for landing through ATC, and then make the landing. (be careful or you'll have to restart from the beginning)
Exit the runway on the nearest exit to the right.
Use the ATC a couple more times and select the option to taxi to a parking spot. Once you're told to do so, follow the yellow line. You're looking for three guys with a yellow device (push tractor) He is most likely either really close on the right hand side or on the left side of the runway. If he's not on the right, follow the yellow line to the left side of the runway, and you should be able to see him there.
Pull up close to the push tractor, (yellow device) and come to a complete stop, and cut your engines to idle. The achievement should now pop. Shut the engine down if you wish.
Hope this helps! Let me know if there's anything which I can add.

I can con firm that this guide mostly works :-)
I would note that It's an advantage to fill up before taking off. I used 90% to give me plenty and less weight to carry.
Autopilot is safe in this mode to pop the achievement as of 08/04/23.
When landing at MGGT make sure you land on runway 2. Best to head for the small lake near MGGT and this should put you at the correct end.
On landing, try to minimise your speed to around 90 knots, a clean touchdown, heavy on the brakes (X) and apply the Parking Break a.s.a.p (Right D-Pad).
As the guide states you will need to leave on the second exit to the right. Stop completely at the 2nd right exit just before the 2 solid and 2 partial yellow lines. From here you can ask for taxi to parking.
Follow the yellow line very slowly. You will see 2 guys, maybe 3, a small tractor (trolley Jack). Go past these guys a little then turn towards them very slowly.
One of the guys will have batons in his hands and will direct you forward, left or right. Follow his lead. Once he puts both batons above his head, like the Y in YMCA immediately stop. By the time you stop both batons will be touching his head. As soon as this happens the achievement will pop.

Finally obtained this achievement after multiple attempts. Did many different flights over 300 nm with "True to Life" settings from parking space to parking space. Maintained all appropriate contacts with ATC on IFR, would park to the proper parking space (with the tug and the person who would lead in with batons), but still couldn't get it. Followed the guide above exactly, still nothing.
Was doing a flight in the Diamond DA40 going up the coast of Florida to get the Jack of all Planes achievement, and finally received the My Way achievement. I did do "True to Life" and parking spot to parking spot, but totally ignored ATC the entire time. Total VFR. I'm not certain what will actually trigger this one unfortunately. Felt random from my experience. Maybe just keep trying as you work on other achievements and you will eventually get it. Really sucks though.

Hey guys!
A big shout out to Thanassi360 for his original guide and Jappe for his imporved less effort method!!! I managed to unlock this achievement too!!!
The plane I used is the TBM930. I strongly recommend this aircraft since I've used other ones before and for some reason only this one helped me to unlock the achievement.
I started at CYYZ Parking Ramp 164 since it's close to the departing rwy 23 and landed at KEKM Parking Ramp 20 which is just above 300NM because I'm not 100% sure if this achievement meant for 300 miles or 300 nautical miles. IFR low attitude plan with 6000ft crusing level.
I set my experience level to True to Life and have AI control the aircraft all the way. I was on radio duty only. AI started up the plane, do the taxing and flying. It landed the plane and I called ATC for the only choice of "Taxi to Parking" (The reason why I choose my destination KEKM is because it only has parking ramps so no room for requesting for the wrong kind of ramp/gate).
The ATC only replied with "Taxi to Parking via xxx" which didn't specify the number of the ramp which got me scared a little bit.
But the AI taxied to the spot I set and for some reason wiggled a little bit forward and then the achievement popped up. (And AI even went on shutting down the aircraft for me and I can see the log menu popped out lol)
So here are some extra tips:
Keep the assistance level all time at True to life: Meaning just keep those windows open and don't close them. If you don't want to see, for example, the checklist window, you can just click on the "-" button on the top right corner of the window to minimize it. If you closed one of those windows that's opened from the beginning that will change your experience level to "Custom". I've tried too many times to figure this one out...
Let AI do all the stuff except for the radio: Basically as soon as you've finished your loading and entered the sim world you can go ahead turn on the AI copilot. You do need to talk to the ATC along the way but you can trust AI flying the plane.
Reply those ATC calls ASAP: If the ATC call you 3 or 4 times without your reply, your flight plan will be cancelled and that's not a "non-stop" flying anymore. I learned this the hard way lol.
Wait until the AI shuts down the engine: Just wait for a while even if the AI has already stopped on the parking spot. It should be able to shut down the engine and that's when I got my achievement to pop. AI could stop a second and continue to move forward a little bit so don't rush, be patient.
That's all I have for this achievement for now, let me know if you need more details of my flight.
I hope it pops for you.

An update just showed up on my console but hasn't even downloaded yet - fingers crossed lol. As for NoisyTest - does using Flight Assistant to get AI Pilot to park not negate the whole "without assistance" part of the achievement
I know people using AI Pilot in the early days as that didn't alter any of the True-to-life settings but since console release, it always has and i can't see that working (unless an update changes the reqs again)
I see 2 more people have unlocked this in the last few days (Tangerine48 & PvtMcMullan) - Tangerine48 started the game at the end of December so possibly on console and has ~270 hours on the game. PvtMcMullan started the game just after console launch so again possibly on console and also has ~270 hours on the game
Haven't tried this myself for months, may give it another try in the next week or so

Yes, for the past few nights I have been doing a 650km flight from YESP to YPEA in the FA18 with all settings on True To Life and still have not unlocked it. Every other attempt I've used IFR, usually swapping between high and low altitude to see if that might affect it, but my attempt tonight after the patch used VFR - still no unlock.
Each flight I have been changing a variable in how I play to see if it might unlock. Lately I have made sure that:
-Remain in cockpit view the whole time
-Don't pause at all after starting
-Don't use any control shortcuts
-Don't use the checklist
-Don't use autopilot
While trying to figure out if any of the following affect it:
-VFR or IFR? Most solutions suggest IFR only.
-Does refueling from the taskbar count? The FA18 apparently has 4000km range but seems to run out after 500km, not sure whats going on there. Refueling may count as an assist.
-Take off and land at the correct runways? Makes sense, but hard to be sure.
-Follow ATC perfectly - as long as the IFR is not cancelled, it should count.
-Select parking spot in the flight plan, or request it after landing? Some people in the Flight Sim forums and elsewhere seem to have had success by requesting a spot after landing.
-Need to be a standard edition plane? There's no indication that this is an issue, but the FA18 is from the GOTY edition, and it hasn't unlocked while using it. For the record, I don't have any DLC of any kind installed for this game.
So still quite a few things that may be preventing an unlock, but no unlocks in 3 months is a pretty good indicator that this achievement is just straight up broken.
Edit - looks like someone unlocked it recently, hopefully they can enlighten us on how they got it!

I attempted this achievement a few times with no joy.
Please note, this achievement seems to be glitched (along with a few others for this game). This is a reconstruction of exactly how I unlocked it. I hope this guide helps you all and I'm happy to update it if anyone has any suggestions.
Steps 1 Assistance Setup:
From startup, go to Options -> Assistance and set the overall assistance level to 'TRUE TO LIFE'. This will set all the difficulties to 'HARD'
Step 2 Airport Selection and Flight Planning:
I initially tried a few route that where just over 300 miles, but on this occasion I decided to over estimate the distance, so this route is over 400 miles.
You can choose any 2 airports you like, this is just what I used (EHAM to EGAC). The important part is that you select the parking spot to start at and end at. This helps you control where you start and end, as the taxi assistance is off and it can be easy to get lost with the taxi markings being tiny or missing.
At Schiphol (EHAM) I chose ramp 44 as it is next to the runway I selected (27):
At Belfast (EGAC) I chose ramp 33 (which also happens to be the refuelling shed) as it was the first ramp if you exit the runway at the end:
Then I selected the 'High-altitude airways' flight plan:
I used the TBM 930 with 98% fuel (100% seemed to be overweight) so I didn't need to worry about fuel:
Finally, I set the weather and traffic to 'LIVE'
Step 3 The Flight:
Starting cold and dark can be a bit daunting (I'm new to flight sims) so follow the checklists as they don't count as assistance. This has actually helped me learn the procedures.
I also follow the radio procedures and go through the process of requesting IFR clearance and following all the communication requests.
So first time I was to taxi from where I started (start arrow in the image) to runway 27 (A arrow in the image), nice and short taxi.
While making this guide I was told to taxi and take off at 18R (B arrow in the image) which is miles and miles away. I took my time and used the drone to make my way there, but hopefully you won't have this issue, a single runway airport might have been a better choice.
This is where the game starts. I set my autopilot altitude to what the tower said to climb to (6000ft for me).
I took off, climbed to about 2000ft and switched on the autopilot and activated the vertical speed with a climb of 2000ft per minute.
Once it had settled I activated the nav mode and the autopilot took over the piloting.
For the next hour and a half, or so, I just followed the radio prompts and increase and decreased my cruise altitude with the vertical speed set to 2000 or -2000 per minute. Be sure to throttle back when descending as you could end up over-speeding and getting the black screen of death.
When getting close to the destination airport I followed the approach instructions by switching the autopilot to heading mode and requesting way-point headings and following the markers (you can use the nav map on the hotbar to see the nav markers and this won't fail the achievement).
Now, make sure you are careful and make a nice safe landing, so the last couple of hours weren't wasted.
Step 4 Taxi and Tidy Up:
For the parking spot I selected, I just taxied to the end of the runway and parked in front of the shed in the picture (next to the arrow). However, this is where it gets a bit strange (read on after the picture.)
Originally, I parked at the shed, shut down all the systems (following the checklist), but the end screen did not pop up.
I then started the engine back up and taxied to each of the parking spots, 1 at a time and shut down and moved on, still no end screen.
Also, the guy with the batons that guides you in to your parking spot wasn't at any of the ramps.
Finally I went back to the shed and while taxiing on the light grey section next to the shed (where the arrow is actually pointing), the achievement popped. So I hit the parking brake and shut the systems down and the end screen came up.
Very Strange.
Step 5 The Conclusion:
This guide is a reconstruction of how I got it, but by no means perfect as you can see in the final section. I would probably recommend using smaller airports and selecting actual parking spots so you get the guy with the batons taxiing you in to a spot.
Again, if you have any feedback or tips for this guide, send me a message and I will update as needed.
Happy Achievement Hunting

Thank you man for this detailed guide bro! I also have this question: Did you call ground ATC after landing?
For Noel3679's quesiton, if you've already set a proper gate/ramp in your flight plan (i.e. medium gate for a320 and large/heavy gate for 748 and 7810, you can't just set a small GA ramp for your airliners or ATC will rearrange a proper one and there goes your achievement), the ATC will actually still let you use your original gate in you plan! (However I still didn't get this achievement though)
For the Assistance level, it really doesn't matter that much. I managed to unlock other achievements that required no assistance with only the first section "piloting" set to hard and turned on AI handles ATC calls (Which will make the preset changes from Hard to Custom). I have all other sections set to easy and I can still unlock all the other achievements that requried "no assistance".

I wanted to get this without using AI, so I worked very hard at it using Thanassi360's helpful solution. I failed various times flying Flint KFNT to Louisville KSDF, which I selected because neither was a huge airport. I made a few mistakes initially--for example, it is very important to set assistance to "True to Life" before setting up the flight. In the end, though, I followed all of the guide steps to the letter, selecting a gate as my arrival, but each time I landed, I ultimately discovered that there was another aircraft parked in my selected spot (even though I selected a different one each time). I felt like Baby Bear coming home to find Goldilocks in his bed. As such, ATC directed me to park at a gate other than what I selected , and the achievement did not pop. I decided to look for an airfield where this would be less likely. I chose Nantucket Island KACK to arrive. It accommodates jets (I used the Cessna CJ4), but it is a quiet airport with only general aviation parking. I chose ramp parking #1 and set it as my arrival point. I chose to depart Washington Reagan (KDCA) which, with my IFR/ILS route, was 367 miles away, and I selected a B gate as my departure. I test-landed at KACK a couple of times setting a close airborne point of departure, just to make sure someone wouldn't grab my selected spot--they didn't. Then I flew my route, which was an ILS landing on runway 24. The achievement popped while I was still on the runway at KACK, probably because the game perceived my parking to be ready for me, with no one squatting on it. I finished up and taxied anyway, and found my man with the batons waiting for me faithfully at my selected spot. I recommend KACK as point of arrival for this achievement as a small airfield with a long enough runway--plus, Nantucket is beautiful. I hope this is helpful.

I just unlocked this a few minutes ago (Xbox Series X).
Good luck and I hope this is able to help someone else.

pick an airport with only one runway and few parking spots, set assistance to "true to life". Using AP is fine you just have to start the aircraft by yourself and do the taxi which can be confusing on a large airport
I did GCTS(Tenerife) to LPMA(Madeira) with a Cessna Citation CJ4(default) , IFR low-altitude and picked a parking spot both for departure and arrival(ramp 38 to gate A18)
not sure how important this is but I've heard that you should not close any menu after you start the flight, like ATC or Checklist
you will get the achievement when you arrive at the parking spot if you do it right
i had to do about 5 flights with different aircraft and different locations until I got it, I think picking a smaller airport helped
Good Luck

I unlocked it today. After many retries and figuring out things I got it.
I tested how the AI pilot would go taxi. So I knew how I had to go when I go do it by myself.
Also with Arrival, I just put a test, quick fly, just putting arrival and as soon as I landed I let my AI pilot do the taxi and to see how he would taxi at Rotterdam airport, so I would know how to.
Now for the test and my previous tries, I set Arrival to Gate A1 at Rotterdam Airport, but I noticed the AI pilot would not go there, instead it went to ramp 13. I flew it before and did not get the achievement wen I set the arrival to Gate A1., I guess it is just not possible for airplanes to make that turn to parking A1, or somehow it gets F upped. I guess you need nice and smooth taxi ways. Don't pick a parking next to the runway like I did on this airport, cause that probably caused the problem. So that is why I picked after testing Parking number 13 on Rotterdam.
So then I thought, lets put it on Arrival Ramp 13. And yes, it worked.
I recorded how I did it, so you can see yourself.
This guide is assuming you know the jet, the F/A-18E/F Super Hornet and know how to use auto pilot.

(Before I started I made sure everything was set right. Cause if you set it and then change from VFR (Direct-GPS) to IFR (Low-altitude airways) it may change the arrival just to the runway. Also with the Approach, it is set to Automatic and if you change it to RNAV 24, it also might change back to arrival runway 24., so after you have done this, just make sure on the map you see you start from the parking and you end at the parking, just double check everything is set right.)
Also don't forget to put your fuel on 100% before you start, I had some tries when I forgot that and had to go back to the main menu.
And of course your setting needs to be on True To Life.. you can see in the video I check it if it is still on.
And last, always check ATC, respond to ATC when needed.
Try Updating to Sim Update 8 Beta If You are having trouble unlocking this achievement. I have updated to SU8 Beta and this unlocked for me when i loaded up the game. I did this flight right a few times and it never popped, so it is good to know it does track your flights.
