How to unlock the My Way achievement in Microsoft Flight Simulator - Definitive Guide

Now that this achievement is fixed, I figured that I would write a solution on how to actually get it, since both of the other solutions are out of date.

First of all, all of your difficulty settings in the assist menu need to be set to True to Life for the entirety of the flight. If they ever get changed from this, (there's a couple ways that you can trigger this on accident) the achievement won't pop.

Therefore, for the entirety of your flight, you need to:
1. Never completely close the Checklist or ATC tab. Minimization is fine.
2. Never use the AI pilot. (Autopilot is fine)
3. Never open the VFR map.

So now, for the flight which I used. This flight is very simple, as the travel in which you need to do around the airports (especially the starting one) is relatively short. Keep in mind, you can use any route or any plane for this. The route just needs to be beyond 300 miles.

I flew from MMBT to MGGT. IFR Low-altitude airways.
Depart from Parking 1 from MMBT, and change the approach under MGGT to "ILS 02-Z"
Have your plane be the Textron Aviation Cessna Citation CJ4.
The total flight time should be a little over 50 minutes, which is very fast.
Go ahead and spawn in.

Your plane will be cold and dark. It can be frustrating to get it fired up, unless you know what to do.
The checklist is helpful, but it asks you to do way more than what is necessary. I will list the steps which you actually need to do.
First of all, press F3 (or whichever button on console) which revs your throttle up all the way to 100%.
*Page refers to the page in which the action is listed on the checklist. The reason why I list it is so you can press the little eyeball icon to see where the button/lever you need to pull is located.*
1.Battery switch on (First page)
2.Avionics master switch on (Third page)
3. Push right engine starter (Second page)
3. Wait 5 seconds, Push engine run/stop (Right) (Second page)
4. Push left engine starter (Second page)
5. Wait 5 seconds, Push engine run/stop (Left) (Second page)

The engines will start to fire up. Once your plane starts moving, (with the parking brake still engaged) cut the engines down to idle. (F1 on PC)

Follow some ATC commands until it tells you to taxi to the runway. You need to go to the runway which is to the right of where you started. Come to a complete stop before the line (on the road connecting the main area and the runway) and clear yourself for takeoff through ATC commands.

Assuming you know how to use autopilot, get it set up so that you can immediately engage it once in the air.

If you do not know how to use autopilot:

From this position, you need to take off towards the right side of the runway, not the left. Go ahead and take off, and then once you're a little bit into the air, engage autopilot. You will now be flown the entire way there. You need to be here watching it though, as your ATC commands will most likely tell you to ascend and descend several times, which you cannot ignore.

Once you arrive, (near the airport) clear yourself for landing through ATC, and then make the landing. (be careful or you'll have to restart from the beginning)

Exit the runway on the nearest exit to the right.
Use the ATC a couple more times and select the option to taxi to a parking spot. Once you're told to do so, follow the yellow line. You're looking for three guys with a yellow device (push tractor) He is most likely either really close on the right hand side or on the left side of the runway. If he's not on the right, follow the yellow line to the left side of the runway, and you should be able to see him there.

Pull up close to the push tractor, (yellow device) and come to a complete stop, and cut your engines to idle. The achievement should now pop. Shut the engine down if you wish.

Hope this helps! Let me know if there's anything which I can add.

I can con firm that this guide mostly works :-)

I would note that It's an advantage to fill up before taking off. I used 90% to give me plenty and less weight to carry.
Autopilot is safe in this mode to pop the achievement as of 08/04/23.
When landing at MGGT make sure you land on runway 2. Best to head for the small lake near MGGT and this should put you at the correct end.

On landing, try to minimise your speed to around 90 knots, a clean touchdown, heavy on the brakes (X) and apply the Parking Break a.s.a.p (Right D-Pad).

As the guide states you will need to leave on the second exit to the right. Stop completely at the 2nd right exit just before the 2 solid and 2 partial yellow lines. From here you can ask for taxi to parking.
Follow the yellow line very slowly. You will see 2 guys, maybe 3, a small tractor (trolley Jack). Go past these guys a little then turn towards them very slowly.
One of the guys will have batons in his hands and will direct you forward, left or right. Follow his lead. Once he puts both batons above his head, like the Y in YMCA immediately stop. By the time you stop both batons will be touching his head. As soon as this happens the achievement will pop.

Finally obtained this achievement after multiple attempts. Did many different flights over 300 nm with "True to Life" settings from parking space to parking space. Maintained all appropriate contacts with ATC on IFR, would park to the proper parking space (with the tug and the person who would lead in with batons), but still couldn't get it. Followed the guide above exactly, still nothing.

Was doing a flight in the Diamond DA40 going up the coast of Florida to get the Jack of all Planes achievement, and finally received the My Way achievement. I did do "True to Life" and parking spot to parking spot, but totally ignored ATC the entire time. Total VFR. I'm not certain what will actually trigger this one unfortunately. Felt random from my experience. Maybe just keep trying as you work on other achievements and you will eventually get it. Really sucks though.

Hey Everyone!, after reading through every fourum and platform I could find about this achievement only one person mentioned one big tip to getting this to pop. TeeDogSD on the flight sim forums gave a good guide on how he was successful and noticed that he said not to exit first person and I legit think that may be why some are having such a hard time. I flew a basic vfr from kghm to i18 in a da62 and all I did was keep up with atc and stay out of third person so dont get confused with making the flight technical unless you'd like of course. Now the achievement could still be bugged for some seeing that people will have it pop up at random points but if a simpleton like me was able to get it I'm sure all of you guys can just stay in first person mode!! Lol
thank you TeeDogSD!!!

Good question. I kind of recommend trying this after you've done everything else, because then you'd be good at the landings, but I guess you have to learn them at some point anyway.

Make sure you have a LOT of distance between you and the runway, when you're approaching. If you ever do not think you can make it, pull up and do a complete 180. Go back a while and then turn around again with more distance.

Deploy landing gear, then cut the engines completely when you get close. Land on the back wheels, then push the front of your plane down once you have your last two wheels on the runway. (Technically not the right way to do it in real life but it is easiest for every part of the game) then, slam on the brakes and keep your plane straight. The speed at which you land should be where there's a white bar on the side of your speedometer. Preferably as slow as possible without falling out of the air.

Let me know if you have any questions!

Note that this is only possible at the moment by using the preview version!

Thanks for posting this. I unlocked it by using the top guide. I couldn't figure out how to start the engines using live weather.

Don't try this untill you have done the bush trips because there you will learn how to use autopilot, headings and vertical speed.

How do I get/know if I have the update preview? I'm on console. Not sure if this is an option for me/or if it automatically installs something like this.

Does not automatically install.
This is how I got the update on PC. I'm sure it will be either the same or close to the same on console.
Install Xbox Insider Hub from the MS store, then click on previews and join beta for the Flight Simulator update.

OK, just tried your exact trip with no success. The only difference is I had 2 guys not 3. I drove all around looking for 3 with no success. Also, by "yellow device" do you mean the push tractor?

By Anchor787fly on 14 Feb 2022 17:36
Pull up to the 2 guys straight at them. The guy standing by himself has the batons to guide you in. When you come to a complete stop after he lowers them your achievement should unlock. You are playing on the new Beta correct? If you don't have it installed the achievement won't unlock.

I always appreciate people making more up-to-date guides and this seems really well written, accommodating to a variety of skill levels.

Didn't even know there was a preview version, so will be waiting for that update.

PS I believe on console throttle up is A and down is B

I got the update but it didn't autopop for me. I actually have several achievements that aren't unlocking that, one being the achievement for going from the game's studio to MS headquarters.

Just did this on PC, definitley true to life settings all the way, checklist minimised throughout, ATC never closed. Had a ground guy directing me to the stop with the beacon things, told me to stop, did it exactly where I should and nothing. Sigh.

And then just after I post that I get an update where the release notes say "fixed some issues relating to assistance that prevented unlocking some achivements (including My Way)". Here's hoping then.

Not sure what is meant by "page" in the ignition instructions.
Some added notes:
- Flight level is altitude x 100 (yes I know there's more too it in terms of pressure but that doesn't matter here) e.g. FL180 = 18000 ft
- When you need to change altitude due to ATC, using the buttons mentioned under the AP guide, set the altitude dial, then turn on vertical speed, then turn the VS wheel to +/- 2000 again

Note: I don't personally have the achievement yet. I "overstressed" the plane and I think I accidentally changed destination through the ATC anyway. I was "overspeed"ing but I figured that was intentionally, looking back I'm guessing I should've dialled down to 70% throttle after takeoff?

By thatNoseyParker on 04 Mar 2022 19:56
Thanks for the added notes.

"Page" refers to the pages on the checklist. (Opened automatically at the start of the flight)
There's three pages, the reason I list the page is so you can find it to press the little eyeball icon to see where the button/lever you need to pull is. I'll make it more clear in the solution.

Great Instructions for, thanks a lot for the writeup!

Any tips for the landing though, I've messed it up twice now, I'm gonna try a few practice landings instead but I seem to just hit the run way too hard even when keeping my nose up/cutting engines.

Thanks, I'm generally okay normally (I've done 9 of the landing challenges and several bush trip segments) but I think the true life difficulty was a bit more sensitive to my drop out of the sky landing technique! I think I needed to come in lower and faster!

I’ve done all the landing challenges and several bush trips, but I can’t stop breaking the damn landing gear, it just plummets out of the sky (or goes way too fast to stop). I have the flaps maxed and speed about 95 knots

PS I assume we are supposed to turn off AP when trying to land, yes?

Edit: Woo did it! This time I didn’t turn off AP, but I did mess with some other buttons, like NAV with the vertical arrows (far left on dash) and APPR(oach mode). At one point I turned on VNAV (under VS) but that just seemed to lock VS to 0 so turned it off.

Anyway, I kept the speed as low as it could without stalling (maybe around 130kt) and the AP took care of the actual descending. Once close I cut the engines (LB + Left dpad) and held X to brake. After I’d stopped, I needed to go through the steps from the start to restart engines and spent about 10-20 minutes looking for the damn parking spot :p

If anyone had been watching this irl, I would’ve looked crazy lol

After 25 attempts, I've finally managed this damned achievement. Tried the airports listed, but the last 30miles into MGGT, air traffic control tried to fly me into the side of a mountain. The attempt after that saw my mouse battery die on the final approach. Other attempts said I crashed into a building while taxiing, but because it was an overhanging roof, I was nowhere near the building.
This has been my white whale and I've finally cracked it. clap I didn't even need to taxi to parking, the achievement popped as I taxied into the general aviation area.

Hi,
Is it allowed to use the external camera, or is it mandatory to be in cockpit view all the flight long ?

I did this in one go with the Achievement for: Turning the Neo on without assistance. And picked a flight I did several times before. So I recognized things on the ground and the area of the airport is familiar to me.

Seriously fuck this game. I've followed these guides to the letter, taxi'd to the spot, shutdown and nothing. But it's the same with a few other achievements. This game is glitchy and buggy and just drives me crazy. It's super fun to play, but when it comes to achievement hunting, I get so frustrated.

Does this have to be with a 'base' plane? not any additional planes added via mods?

Almost had the wheels on the tarmac at MGGT when ATC suddenly decided to tell me to "go around" and I had no idea what to do. They had previously given me landing clearance so no idea why the change of heart. Uggghhhhhhhh. I swear, ATC is the final boss of this game.

I failed to respond in time for ATC requests. I was quite far so did not want to restart. Chose option retry ifr plan and ATC returned that plan, continued as normal and in the end got achievement. So might work just ignoring it from beginning and go back to plan near end.

Could not get autopilot to work, so CJ4 was too much babysitting. Instead went with Airbus A320neo, its almost like autopilot on always.

Ok, so, tried every possible solution from here, and every possible way, doing +10 flights with different combinations and configurations, and it doesnt pop! I'm giving up this stupid buggy game. Besides, after the last sim update, look like de AP likes to spiral down the plane to the ground. 😡

For the NAV button to work, you need to load the flight plan. Once the avionics are on, I noticed there is a "no flight plan" info. To do so, press the FPLN button and then EXECUTE.

Thank you for the guide but when I try and follow it I take off, things are looking OK but when engaging autopilot it just starts flying in circles. The altitude works but not the heading. I try fixing the heading, reengage the autopilot and it starts banking hard again. I've tried loading the flight plan is as described by Joseph but thay doesn't seem to resolve anything.

Anyone got any ideas?

Looking on MSFS forums it seems this is a relatively common issue with AP in the game. Most of the fixes suggested tho are uninstalling mods of which I have non installed and am playing on xbox

Ok finally fixed the flying in circles thing using the below programming setup to properly initialise it.

https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/how-to-citation-cj4-fms...

Autopilot then lost flight plan as passing into Central America ATC. Tried manual heading control into approach but autopilot put max trim on and broke the plane...

I unlocked this in the CJ4 with Multiplayer and Air Traffic set to (OFF), as well as Weather and Time set to (CUSTOM) – 9:00 AM and Clear Skies.

I landed and pulled up to the three people, but the Achievement didn't unlock, so i did a big loop back around (on the ground) and stopped in front of them again. That's when the Achievement unlocked for me.

In all honesty, i couldn't for the life of me figure out how to get AP to fly me there correctly, so i had to keep asking ATC every 5 - 10 minutes for directions and have AP follow the Headings instead, jumping between 60° and 130°ish, while listening out for when i had to increase/decrease my Flight Level.

Thank you very much, SincereSeeker6!

Finally got this today after a few attempts and just wanted to list the characteristics of my flight in case it may help, especially since no one knows and this is all just speculation.

Flight was from OEDF->OMDB letting MSFS pick the flight plan using Low-Altitude airways IFR. I did not import a flight plan from simbrief.
- Aircraft: Citation CJ4 jet
- Departure was set to the first parking spot (I forget the number but it was the first one underneath the runways). When doing so, I think you have to leave the departure set to "Direct" to allow it to keep the parking spot starting point.
- Arrival was not set to any specific runway and I believe was set to "auto" or something like that where we are not given the runway to land until we get close to the arrival airport.
- Did not close checklist or atc
- Did not leave cockpit view
- Had a friend flying the same route with them in my group so that is allowed
- Live traffic and weather turned OFF
- Weather set to clear skies and adjusted the time of day so that we weren't flying at night
- Although I have a habit of doing it, I did NOT hit 'B' to auto set the barometer as my friend pointed out that maybe that counts as an assist. This MIGHT be the thing that tripped me up on previous attempts.
- Setup the flight computer for takeoff and used auto pilot pretty much from a few seconds after takeoff to a few seconds before touchdown.
- Taxi'd to and departed from the runway that ATC gave me
- Followed all ATC instructions but also requested a higher cruising altitude at one point. I only point that out not to say you must do this but only that it doesn't void the achievement to do so.
- Slightly AFTER hitting the final waypoint from the flightplan, ATC finally chimed in and gave me a runway to land on as well as the transition so I quickly entered that information into the flight computer and flew direct to the transition provided.
- During this part of the flight when I was almost flying the final approach, my ATC bugged because I got like 3 instructions at once and my only ATC response option was grayed out and unclickable. I never actually got the final clear to land that you would normally get.

After landing I was unable to request taxi to a parking spot at first because my ATC was bugged but I switched to COMM2 and tuned to OMDB ground which then unbuged my ATC and let me request taxi to parking. I taxi'd to the general area that they gave "General Aviation Parking via taxiway 'V'" and after looking around a bit I finally saw a guy with a yellow pushback tug but no one with batons guiding me in. I pulled up to the yellow line and stopped on it by the guy but the achievement didn't pop then so I turned towards the guy and yellow machine and basically drove the nose wheel right up to the machine then came to a stop and the achievement immediately popped. I did NOT have to shut down engines or anything like that.

Hope this helps someone as it was frustrating trying to get this achievement!

I'd highly recommend adding some tips for how to use the AP. The altitude control in the CJ4 seemed very finicky (often had to set changes multiple times and had to manually stop flight level changes), and I mostly used headings to navigate since I couldn't figure out how to get the auto-nav to work.

If you're doing a flight in the US, your choice on takeoff, but I recommend Offutt Air Force Base (near Omaha, Nebraska) as your destination. Only one runway, and it's long enough for any plane. Also has limited parking.

Still a thumbs up. Great tips. Glad to have this done.

Thanks, added that the yellow device is a push tractor.
If it's not working for you, it's possible that you accidentally did one of the operations which changes the difficulty away from True to Life. (Such as closing the checklist at all) I took special care to check about every 5 minutes to make sure my difficulty was still on True to Life.

If you are doing everything correctly, the achievement actually was buggy before it was completely glitched, and several people needed to fly it a few times before it would pop. It's possible that even though it's "fixed" it was just returned to its previous state.

Above all, like the other guy said, make sure that you are on the new update preview. That's the only way it will work.

Thanks for the solution
For some reasons, I wasn't able to unlock it after some quite decent flights (IMHO) on XSX, but unlocked it on first correct flight on PC (on first try there was another plane in approach at the same time and I messed it up).
I'm member of the preview program on both platforms.

I tried this method once, and was unsuccessful, so I tried it a second time, and it unlocked shortly after I landed at my destination. I was still slowing down to around 35 knots on the runway when ATC instructed me to exit the runway, and then right after that instruction, the achievement unlocked. I did not taxi to the parking spot. Strange, but I'll take it because this one has been a real pain.

Hey guys!
A big shout out to Thanassi360 for his original guide and Jappe for his imporved less effort method!!! I managed to unlock this achievement too!!!

The plane I used is the TBM930. I strongly recommend this aircraft since I've used other ones before and for some reason only this one helped me to unlock the achievement.
I started at CYYZ Parking Ramp 164 since it's close to the departing rwy 23 and landed at KEKM Parking Ramp 20 which is just above 300NM because I'm not 100% sure if this achievement meant for 300 miles or 300 nautical miles. IFR low attitude plan with 6000ft crusing level.

I set my experience level to True to Life and have AI control the aircraft all the way. I was on radio duty only. AI started up the plane, do the taxing and flying. It landed the plane and I called ATC for the only choice of "Taxi to Parking" (The reason why I choose my destination KEKM is because it only has parking ramps so no room for requesting for the wrong kind of ramp/gate).
The ATC only replied with "Taxi to Parking via xxx" which didn't specify the number of the ramp which got me scared a little bit.
But the AI taxied to the spot I set and for some reason wiggled a little bit forward and then the achievement popped up. (And AI even went on shutting down the aircraft for me and I can see the log menu popped out lol)

So here are some extra tips:

Keep the assistance level all time at True to life: Meaning just keep those windows open and don't close them. If you don't want to see, for example, the checklist window, you can just click on the "-" button on the top right corner of the window to minimize it. If you closed one of those windows that's opened from the beginning that will change your experience level to "Custom". I've tried too many times to figure this one out...

Let AI do all the stuff except for the radio: Basically as soon as you've finished your loading and entered the sim world you can go ahead turn on the AI copilot. You do need to talk to the ATC along the way but you can trust AI flying the plane.

Reply those ATC calls ASAP: If the ATC call you 3 or 4 times without your reply, your flight plan will be cancelled and that's not a "non-stop" flying anymore. I learned this the hard way lol.

Wait until the AI shuts down the engine: Just wait for a while even if the AI has already stopped on the parking spot. It should be able to shut down the engine and that's when I got my achievement to pop. AI could stop a second and continue to move forward a little bit so don't rush, be patient.

That's all I have for this achievement for now, let me know if you need more details of my flight.

I hope it pops for you.

An update just showed up on my console but hasn't even downloaded yet - fingers crossed lol. As for NoisyTest - does using Flight Assistant to get AI Pilot to park not negate the whole "without assistance" part of the achievement

I know people using AI Pilot in the early days as that didn't alter any of the True-to-life settings but since console release, it always has and i can't see that working (unless an update changes the reqs again)

I see 2 more people have unlocked this in the last few days (Tangerine48 & PvtMcMullan) - Tangerine48 started the game at the end of December so possibly on console and has ~270 hours on the game. PvtMcMullan started the game just after console launch so again possibly on console and also has ~270 hours on the game

Haven't tried this myself for months, may give it another try in the next week or so

Yes, for the past few nights I have been doing a 650km flight from YESP to YPEA in the FA18 with all settings on True To Life and still have not unlocked it. Every other attempt I've used IFR, usually swapping between high and low altitude to see if that might affect it, but my attempt tonight after the patch used VFR - still no unlock.

Each flight I have been changing a variable in how I play to see if it might unlock. Lately I have made sure that:
-Remain in cockpit view the whole time
-Don't pause at all after starting
-Don't use any control shortcuts
-Don't use the checklist
-Don't use autopilot
While trying to figure out if any of the following affect it:
-VFR or IFR? Most solutions suggest IFR only.
-Does refueling from the taskbar count? The FA18 apparently has 4000km range but seems to run out after 500km, not sure whats going on there. Refueling may count as an assist.
-Take off and land at the correct runways? Makes sense, but hard to be sure.
-Follow ATC perfectly - as long as the IFR is not cancelled, it should count.
-Select parking spot in the flight plan, or request it after landing? Some people in the Flight Sim forums and elsewhere seem to have had success by requesting a spot after landing.
-Need to be a standard edition plane? There's no indication that this is an issue, but the FA18 is from the GOTY edition, and it hasn't unlocked while using it. For the record, I don't have any DLC of any kind installed for this game.

So still quite a few things that may be preventing an unlock, but no unlocks in 3 months is a pretty good indicator that this achievement is just straight up broken.

Edit - looks like someone unlocked it recently, hopefully they can enlighten us on how they got it!

Don't try this untill you have done the bush trips because there you will learn how to use autopilot, headings and vertical speed.

What helped me a lot is to do a practice run with KEKM as approach to learn what the airport looks like and where the parking ramps are. There will be a guy standing at your desired ramp, ramp 20 in my case. Unfortunately, this didn't help me unlock the achievement. So I tried to do an approach on KEKM again but now by using the autopilot. He parked somewhere different and there were people standing on ramp 20 ánd on another ramp where the AI parked.

So I tried again by setting ramp 20 as arrival and did the whole flight. When I parked at ramp 20, nothing happened. So I turned the engines back on and moved to the other spot where the AI parked before. Nothing happened again. So having no clue where to park now, I quit out.

After reading the new guide for this achievement. I did another run with just setting KEKM as the arrival and not specifying a parking ramp. After the landing I requested taxi to parking and was told to cross the runway. Looking for the guy, he was at the spot the AI parked at before. This is 3 spots south of the general parking area. The general parking area is just south of the runway.

TL:DR
Don't specify a parking ramp, just pick KEKM as arrival and request taxi to parking after the landing. Do a practice arrival run to learn the airport and where the ramps are.

Powering off the plane is not necesary. Just stopping at the parking ramp is enough to unlock the achievement. So if this does not unlock for you, try to park at different ramps and this might still unlock for you.

I flew from sedona to LAX in a cessna citation, ended at a parking spot where it gave me a log of the flight and asked if i wanted to continue or go to main menu. Continued. No achievement... :/

Edit: also have done toronto to JFK in NYC and Aspen to Sedona, neither worked. Did startup and shutdown and taxing, no assists at all

Okay so I've just tried another gate to gate flight from CYYZ to KORD. Way over 300 miles but still didn't unlock this achievement... I used the same settings I had with other "no assist" achievements so the settings is not the issue.

Thanassi360, I have a few questions.

Did you use taxi ribbon and ATC services? I mean, even though I set the difficulty to 'True to Life(Realistic)', if I request something to ATC, it changes some settings to medium or custom.

And if I use VFR MAP(by press V key on my keyboard), will it ruins everything? Oh, I clicked eyes icons on the checklist, but I didn't let AI do that. I clicked every buttons, levers, knobs, etc by myself.

I tried third time for this, and little bit tired...

And, thank you for your comment. :)

Hi Thanassi360!
I would say a proper guide would be perfect since I've tried another time with departure and Arrival both set to a ramp/gate in the airports. But the ATC won't direct me to my pre-assigned parking spot after landing. I still tried my preset parking spot but that didn't unlock my achievement and even after I parked at the one assigned by ATC still no pop......

@meochan913. I tried this several times with different planes and various levels of co-Pilot flying. Nothing worked. I feel that the only way to do this is autopilot. So I would suggest picking both a plan and rout your familiar with and do it with autopilot. Maybe pick a path and watch the copilot do the route maybe 2-3 times to memorize it. Then learn the autopilot controls well enough to get you to your destination. Land manually and taxi manually.

Can confirm after failing two manual attempts on the descent/landing phases that putting difficulty on True to Life, doing CYYZ parking 164 to KEKM parking 20, closing no windows that are open by default, turning on AI Control Aircraft option (other two AI Controls off), and just handling all radio calls manually worked on the first attempt. Sucks too cause I actually really enjoyed the manual startup/takeoff/flying the route but just kept messing up the landing. I'll do some more manual flying for fun once my new PC parts get here.

Can confirm that @meochan913's guide works but be mindful of @erod550's suggestion above to ONLY use AI to control the aircraft. Do NOT enable "Checklist Assist" or "Manage Radio Comms" and do NOT close the windows that open by default. You can minimize them though if they bother you.

For whatever reason the co-pilot would regularly crash into the ground during initial approach when I flew from CYYZ to KEKM, so I used my old favorites of KOKC and M19 and that worked flawlessly the first time.

One additional note, in additional to all the great suggestions above: you can always request a different runway or a different approach. Several times when trying to fly out of CYYZ, ATC would send me to runway 24, not 23 as I had set initially (maybe because of live traffic?). If they send you to a different runway, you can always request the one you want.

I don’t understand how all of your people can turn on AI copilot and expect for the assistance part of the achievement to not be voided. either the game updated and nothing he said in the guide works anymore or this achievement is literally impossible to get. The icon of the man with the hat does not say AI control, it says flight assistant, which is literally assistance. from opening that tab, there is an option to turn on AI piloting, which then automatically turns on AI radio communications, and grays it out. I do not think that the AI copilot future works anymore. can someone please explain what the hell is going on, because half the things in this guide are not in my game.

I just done a legit attempt at this, had setting on True to Life, done all pre flight checks, all radio Comms and flew the whole thing from Paris to Liverpool. Landed and when stopped at end of runway, the game ended my flight despite selecting to arrive at parking gate and being in process of radioing for clearance to taxi and park. Very frustrating. Going to leave this one alone until confirmation that it's either fixed or better understanding of requirements on here

Well, I think it is broken since/because the XBox release.
The “let the A.I. do the taxiing”-method don’t work anymore (for me) because A.I. control is now tied to the A.I. communication. Means, if you activate your co-pilot, it turns on A.I. communication at the same time and voids the achievement, because one true to life-setting is set from hard to custom.

I did true to life-flights with all the required actions (start dark and cold at a gate, ATS, taxiing, takeoff, follow the IFR flight plan, landing, taxiing to parking spot/gate, shut down) by myself, based on the tutorials here and in the MSFS forum.
Was at the end at the correct gate each time and had the flight operator with his sticks, too.
No success.

Flights:
EDDE (gate 3) - ESSA (gate 33L) - A320 Neo
KCOS (gate 25) - KHUT (gate 5) - CJ4
KDCA (gate B22) - KACK (parking 1) - TBM 930

I've had the same experience as Faloran (that is, nothing works).

Obviously this is one of the more frustrating broken achievements because it takes so long (or your game crashes mid-flight, or you're trying the AI piloting method and it randomly decides to spin out).

Yeah this achievement is completely broken. Followed all different types of guides with no luck. All settings true to life etc. Still nothing pops when I shut down my plane and the end screen comes up. New update installed on XSX that became available 7th August 2021 and it didn't fix this achievement. :(

Multiple flights to KACK with the Daher turboprop, trying to copy exactly what some Youtubers did on a prior build. No pop! Convinced that using the AI co-pilot, or whatever the name is currently, was necessary for the game to register your taxiing to parking spot.

I've suggested this to be flagged.

Alright everyone. Not sure how or what the hell I did but I got my way. Yup. Try it for yourself. Not sure if it’s fixed because I have no clue how long it was unlocked for. Literally I checked after one of the most shitty flights possible with the most screw ups, but had no assistance. Try it for yourself. You won’t get any good advice out of me for this one. I don’t even know how I got it. I woke up and checked my achievements and it was unlocked, my trackers must’ve been delayed. However it dosent change the fact that it might just be fixed now.

Isn’t it easier to use an airliner to make the journey quicker?? Or at least the jet? I’m going to try this tomorrow and I have a good flight path I’ve been farming for the 300 miles per plane achievement. Once that’s complete I was going to do this without any AI whatsoever but make it a jet so it won’t take as long!
0
0
By SILVAF0XX on 09 Aug 2021 21:16
Jets are only effective if you understand the Avionics system. You’re going to need to know how to set up procedures which I haven’t been able to find the on the jet. Airliners are just too big for most runways. I tried the euro fighter jet but had no luck and that thing can hit 1300 mph. If you can obtain it with a faster plane than props to you. I would recommend the TBM930 though.

Fair enough… not sure DLC planes will work to be honest. I also have the Eurofighter but I’ve found it seemed more likely to crash the game!

Will try the one you’ve suggested… just got three more planes to do the 300 mile flight with first 🙈

By MantillaEsel07 on 10 Aug 2021 13:48
I'm not trying AI pilot. Autopilot not all planes can use and it has to be set up. I mostly use heading to fly straight for 2 hours and then land.

Just gave this another go in the 172 Skyhawk, flew over 300NM, done everything manually including all pre-flight checks, engine start etc. Also handled all ATC myself and had settings on True-to-Life. Flew it mostly by autopilot using headings. Took over manually flying with 15NM to go. Landed, requested taxi to parking and parked up. Turned engines off etc and end of flight log book popped up but no achievement. O

According to some over on the MSFS forum, the ATC and Checklist will be open when you spawn at your chosen gate/parking, you have to leave these OPEN, just minimise them. Apparently if you close either it changes settings to custom. Can use AI pilot for your taxi to parking/gate.

Hopefully will get a chance to try this over the next few days.

Edit: Just attempted again just now following what I wrote above, still no achieve. Had to do a go around so unsure if that would affect it. This achievement is a bit of a buggy mystery.

Thanks for that Nitrotattie, i suspected the ATC/Checklist close effected this as on most recent run i felt i did the most complete run i've ever done but no pop. Double checked settings afterwards and i think it was User Experience was set as custom - when i set it to hard again, the only one that changed was the Checklist being open so figured me closing it was a mistake

Might try another flight again tomorrow and hopefully get this one done

I see another person (Mr Guru117) unlocked this today, i've messaged him asking for any tips on how he unlocked it, will update with any reply

UPDATE: Mr Guru117 replied with some pointers on how he unlocked the achievement including the following:

True to life settings
Flew Seattle to JFK
Used CJ4 airplane
Didn't use AI Pilot but did use autopilot
Used real date/time and real weather
Had to try at least 5 times before it popped

::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

I have since tried my regular flight plan but using the CJ4 plane and used real date/time and weather (as i had been doing) but still no achievement. Might try a longer flight as my regular one is around 350NM and Guru117 seems to think a longer flight is needed

I have tried three flights today since the update. True to life settings, keeping checklist and ATC window open the whole flight. Followed everything on the checklist to a T and shut down the engine at my parking spot at the end of the flight. 2 flights I used autopilot within the aircraft (not AI pilot in the toolbar) and 1 flight I did completely by myself. Did not get the achievement. Still bugged.

Fuzzmeister J Yeah I got the same reply a few days ago. Seriously don't get how a game studio linked with Microsoft can let achievements continue to be broken for so long. It's shocking because alot of people have mentioned the achievements have been dodgy since release on PC. The sim is over a year old already and it feels like we're playing a beta version because of all the issues it has.

But that's what the new generation feels like to me anyway. Release a buggy mess of a game that's clearly not fit for playing and just try fix it with updates etc over the next few months and years. I'd say Asobo took on more than they could chew with this one and Microsoft know that. Shame

@oxBURN3Rxo - you're free to try of course but note that using the AI Pilot will automatically turn on the AI handling ATC calls - this in turn changes your settings from True-to-life into Custom. It's widely believed that settings need to stay on True-to-life as a bare minimum

Before the update (at this point i forget which one) - enabling AI Pilot did not change the ATC settings and therefore left setting as True-to-life and was perhaps the way people were able to unlock this despite using the most comprehensive means of assistance in the game

Just made an attempt with auto pilot doing most of the work with me doing altitude and landing and parking. Still no joy. I also made 4 attempts going from Washington to Boston only to have it crash every time at roughly the same location on the map, 5 minutes out of Washington, changed the airport and am now going from Albuquerque to Denver which accordingly to the map comes in at around 328 miles.

@VOODOO85 I used the auto pilot not AI Co Pilot. I know not to use the AI Co Pilot. Im honestly wondering what does actually trigger the achievement. I mean no hate to the people who have won it recently but it seems they play the game more casually and not go for the harder stuff, meanwhile I try my ass off to get it and nothing. I hope they fix this damn thing soon.

I don't think so because you need an IFR flight plan and a departure and arrival you can't depart and arrive at the same airport

A new recent unlock has appeared from 4 days ago. Newly registered account that unlocked all MSFS achievements over the span of 2 days by the looks of it.

The recent unlocks never seem to be from an account thats been on here for a while and played the game for months

I've done this but yet no achievement. Is it glitched? Or could it have possibly been fixed with the most recent update (GotY Edition)? Also, using the AI (co pilot) activates the AI responding to ATC which voids the achievement (or at least I would think so)

It's still bugged. There is a very small chance of getting it to work. People are either lucky or very dedicated to fly 2 hour flights 100 times for this.

@MintyModF1

Welcome to the party. In all seriousness, this achievement is bugged like crazy and doing what we all think is the correct thing doesn't work. Clearly some people have unlocked it but either they unlock it without knowing the difficulties everyone is having (and therefore don't remember details of what they done) or the things they say worked for them just don't work for 99.9% of the rest of us

I personally haven't tried this unlock for months as i must have tried so many different ways in the early days that i'm happy to just wait until there is a consensus for how to get this one done

Anyone in 2022 got this achievement ?
In some YouTube videos it shows, we got to let AI park the plane at destination. But I don’t see an option under AI to choose “control aircraft”

Same here. If you've met the requirements, download the Xbox insider Hub from the MS Store. Go to previews and select Flight sim. Download the update. restart your console. Fire it up and the achievement should unlock.

Also, no progress for the new Spotlight Event included in the Beta.

Auto-pop is only for people who have previously done it before this update, I never tried.

How can you turn the AI on, it changes the difficulty level to custom? It also won't start the aircraft for me and I need to do it manually. I have a feeling that this isn't possible if you are using VR as it always sets the options to be Custom even if you manually set them to True to Life.

I got this achievement recently after patch.. I set up a flight just over 600km picked a start gate and a finishing gate then set up my departure and approach before setting my alt in nav log..

I used an airbus a320 so flight wasn’t to long. Used checklist to fire plane up then minimised the check list and moved it out of the way.. do not close any of the already open screens as this changes the settings to custom… set up my flight plan onboard interacted with ground and took off, after initial climb I turned on ap. atc made some bizarre alt adjustments so make sure you acknowledge them and swiftly act on them. As your nearing the approach phase look in flight plan in onboard computer to check the actual alt you need and get there early as atc leaves it to late. Take control for the last 900m of flight and taxi to your chosen gate.. I picked the closest one to end of runway.. there’s a good guide for Xbox users on the A320 and autopilot by FishStakes

Good luck

Looks like the game is bugged with recognizing you've reached the assigned parking spot in your destination airport. There are 2 times that I've reached the destination and it won't let me end the game. One time it stucked at "Taxi to your assigned spot" and one time it recognized but only tells me to fly again instead of show me the log window.

Hey, I finally got this to pop while trying a different achievement (Job Shadowing), which didn't pop.
Basically, flew from Schiphol (EHAM) to Belfast (EGAA) with High altitude airways selected.
Then I zoomed in the map at each airport and selected the ramp closest to the entrance/exit of the runway so I wouldn't get lost.
At Belfast it's actually a refuelling shed.
Used IFR all the way and followed approaches for landing etc (I used full fuel too).
Once the map was setup, I went back to Welcome, options, assistance and set the top option to real life, so all sub options where hard.
Now back to map, the whole flight is still there. Hit ready and go through all checklists and use autopilot all the way. After landing it popped as I taxied over my final spot, hadn't even applied the hand break. Do full shut down and should pop.

I hope this help

EDIT: If that was useful, I can write a proper guide. Just let me know and I'll add screen shots and proper details.

Could someone who has done this method tell me how? twice I've attempted it and both times the ai copilot crashes about 10 miles away from the runway. I try to take over before it goes down but nothing brings the aircraft back up, not sure what the ai does on approach, but for certain it's impossible to have the ai copilot fly for me, and my own flights aren't unlocking the achievement either.

I got this just now by following your guide "to a T". I made sure I set the Assists to True To Life BEFORE I started the flight. Followed your same airports, ramps, plane (made sure to put the fuel to 95% just in case), IFR (low-altitude), ect.

Flight loaded in, I "minimized" the checklist window and re-sized the radio window. Turned on Co-pilot flight (just that one, nothing else).

Everything was smooth sailing after that. I just made sure I kept acknowledging the tower when it would tell me to switch frequencies. Took maybe an hour and a half, played another game in the background lol.

Excellent guide, thumbs up!

I actually am not sure which run I got it on. The most detailed way I could put it for you, is I did a 260 nautical mile trip which is actually 300 miles. I made sure I was landing at Elkhart which was KEKM. The takeoff was from and airport near Toronto. Can’t remember the exact one but it started with “CY”. I also made sure that before I even loaded it in, my screen was set to only have ATC and checklist pop up. For some reason if you remove the checklist prior to the start, as soon as you started one of the settings under true to life will be changed to custom. I am familiar with the Elkhart runway so I know it was going to give me an ILS 27 landing like us usual. I made sure to punch that into the procedures prior to taking off in the TBM 930. I think my mistake is what ultimately led to me unlocking the achievement. The ATC for once gave me an RNAV approach so I had to change it in the procedures. as soon as I hit activate, my plane started banking to turn around. I got worried so I clicked remove on the plan and used approach mode on NAV 1 and removed GPS. then I went on to do what I usually do, and landed and made sure I was following the marshalers stick properly. I didn’t unlock the achievement right then and there though. I got curious so I went to my in-game achievement tracker and it said it was at 100%. Seems like my Xbox achievements were super delayed because I set up an AFK flight overnight and when I woke up the achievement was unlocked. Not sure if that was the flight that did it, but I can confirm for you that you don’t have to do a 300 nautical mile flight, and that this achievement is very well still obtainable and not bugged, it’s just going to be a bitch to get.

This achievement can suck my balls, I had it all perfect and the approach never did its thing with autopilot and without it, programmed it like show and just flew right over.

Tried a 3rd time got lined up perfectly, figured ill turn off autopilot and land it myself, nope!!!!!!! Crash to to the home screen on my xbox.

Screw it, wasted about 5 hours trying this, maybe I should just do it in an a320 and do it all manually. Ugh.

One of those new players must have it on PC (they unlocked first achievement before xbox release) and it might be possible to unlock on PC by rolling back to base version without SU5.

Its SU5 that changed the way AI Pilot works with AI Comms as they're now linked and alter the settings from True-to-Life to Custom. Before SU5, you could use AI Pilot and it wouldn't auto-enable AI Comms - therefore leaving settings at True-to-Life and giving a better chance of this unlocking

@NicholasKidman - are you sure you're talking about the correct achievement. Your gaming history shows you haven't unlocked it but have unlocked the one titled "Wheels up, wheels down" which is for "Complete a non-stop flight of at least 300 miles from take-off to landing."

This 'My Way' achievement is for doing the same thing but with no assistance. Meaning settings need to be on true-to-life at the very least and the AI-Pilot is no longer an option to complete this achievement as since SU5, using AI-Pilot will alter the true-to-life settings to custom

I attempted this achievement a few times with no joy.
Please note, this achievement seems to be glitched (along with a few others for this game). This is a reconstruction of exactly how I unlocked it. I hope this guide helps you all and I'm happy to update it if anyone has any suggestions.

Steps 1 Assistance Setup:
From startup, go to Options -> Assistance and set the overall assistance level to 'TRUE TO LIFE'. This will set all the difficulties to 'HARD'

Step 2 Airport Selection and Flight Planning:
I initially tried a few route that where just over 300 miles, but on this occasion I decided to over estimate the distance, so this route is over 400 miles.
You can choose any 2 airports you like, this is just what I used (EHAM to EGAC). The important part is that you select the parking spot to start at and end at. This helps you control where you start and end, as the taxi assistance is off and it can be easy to get lost with the taxi markings being tiny or missing.

At Schiphol (EHAM) I chose ramp 44 as it is next to the runway I selected (27):

At Belfast (EGAC) I chose ramp 33 (which also happens to be the refuelling shed) as it was the first ramp if you exit the runway at the end:

Then I selected the 'High-altitude airways' flight plan:

I used the TBM 930 with 98% fuel (100% seemed to be overweight) so I didn't need to worry about fuel:

Finally, I set the weather and traffic to 'LIVE'

Step 3 The Flight:
Starting cold and dark can be a bit daunting (I'm new to flight sims) so follow the checklists as they don't count as assistance. This has actually helped me learn the procedures.
I also follow the radio procedures and go through the process of requesting IFR clearance and following all the communication requests.

So first time I was to taxi from where I started (start arrow in the image) to runway 27 (A arrow in the image), nice and short taxi.
While making this guide I was told to taxi and take off at 18R (B arrow in the image) which is miles and miles away. I took my time and used the drone to make my way there, but hopefully you won't have this issue, a single runway airport might have been a better choice.

This is where the game starts. I set my autopilot altitude to what the tower said to climb to (6000ft for me).
I took off, climbed to about 2000ft and switched on the autopilot and activated the vertical speed with a climb of 2000ft per minute.
Once it had settled I activated the nav mode and the autopilot took over the piloting.
For the next hour and a half, or so, I just followed the radio prompts and increase and decreased my cruise altitude with the vertical speed set to 2000 or -2000 per minute. Be sure to throttle back when descending as you could end up over-speeding and getting the black screen of death.

When getting close to the destination airport I followed the approach instructions by switching the autopilot to heading mode and requesting way-point headings and following the markers (you can use the nav map on the hotbar to see the nav markers and this won't fail the achievement).

Now, make sure you are careful and make a nice safe landing, so the last couple of hours weren't wasted.

Step 4 Taxi and Tidy Up:
For the parking spot I selected, I just taxied to the end of the runway and parked in front of the shed in the picture (next to the arrow). However, this is where it gets a bit strange (read on after the picture.)

Originally, I parked at the shed, shut down all the systems (following the checklist), but the end screen did not pop up.
I then started the engine back up and taxied to each of the parking spots, 1 at a time and shut down and moved on, still no end screen.
Also, the guy with the batons that guides you in to your parking spot wasn't at any of the ramps.
Finally I went back to the shed and while taxiing on the light grey section next to the shed (where the arrow is actually pointing), the achievement popped. So I hit the parking brake and shut the systems down and the end screen came up.
Very Strange.

Step 5 The Conclusion:
This guide is a reconstruction of how I got it, but by no means perfect as you can see in the final section. I would probably recommend using smaller airports and selecting actual parking spots so you get the guy with the batons taxiing you in to a spot.
Again, if you have any feedback or tips for this guide, send me a message and I will update as needed.

Happy Achievement Hunting

Thank you man for this detailed guide bro! I also have this question: Did you call ground ATC after landing?

For Noel3679's quesiton, if you've already set a proper gate/ramp in your flight plan (i.e. medium gate for a320 and large/heavy gate for 748 and 7810, you can't just set a small GA ramp for your airliners or ATC will rearrange a proper one and there goes your achievement), the ATC will actually still let you use your original gate in you plan! (However I still didn't get this achievement though)

For the Assistance level, it really doesn't matter that much. I managed to unlock other achievements that required no assistance with only the first section "piloting" set to hard and turned on AI handles ATC calls (Which will make the preset changes from Hard to Custom). I have all other sections set to easy and I can still unlock all the other achievements that requried "no assistance".

I wanted to get this without using AI, so I worked very hard at it using Thanassi360's helpful solution. I failed various times flying Flint KFNT to Louisville KSDF, which I selected because neither was a huge airport. I made a few mistakes initially--for example, it is very important to set assistance to "True to Life" before setting up the flight. In the end, though, I followed all of the guide steps to the letter, selecting a gate as my arrival, but each time I landed, I ultimately discovered that there was another aircraft parked in my selected spot (even though I selected a different one each time). I felt like Baby Bear coming home to find Goldilocks in his bed. As such, ATC directed me to park at a gate other than what I selected , and the achievement did not pop. I decided to look for an airfield where this would be less likely. I chose Nantucket Island KACK to arrive. It accommodates jets (I used the Cessna CJ4), but it is a quiet airport with only general aviation parking. I chose ramp parking #1 and set it as my arrival point. I chose to depart Washington Reagan (KDCA) which, with my IFR/ILS route, was 367 miles away, and I selected a B gate as my departure. I test-landed at KACK a couple of times setting a close airborne point of departure, just to make sure someone wouldn't grab my selected spot--they didn't. Then I flew my route, which was an ILS landing on runway 24. The achievement popped while I was still on the runway at KACK, probably because the game perceived my parking to be ready for me, with no one squatting on it. I finished up and taxied anyway, and found my man with the batons waiting for me faithfully at my selected spot. I recommend KACK as point of arrival for this achievement as a small airfield with a long enough runway--plus, Nantucket is beautiful. I hope this is helpful.

I have a few questions. How to find an exact parking spot without taxi ribbon? And what if ATC tells you to park an airplane at a diffrent parking spot? If I ignore ATC from start to the end, would it be fine? Because sometimes ATC tells me to go to another parking spot and sometimes there's a fuel truck or a pushback truck, and so on...

And I should say this one. If you close ATC window and CHECKLIST window during your flight, the game changes USER EXPERIENCE ASSISTANCE LEVEL from HARD to MEDIUM or CUSTOM. Without a warning or a notice. I guess probably it could be a reason why we couldn't get this achievement.

I did contact ATC after landing for parking and it said go to general aviation.
Overall the game has a few glitchy flaws. It's just trial and error figuring out what works.

I'm pretty sure the user experience section doesn't count as assistance. For an in-depth game, the description is vague.

Hopefully an update soon will address some of the issues. Still great fun though.

i wasnt lucky with that guide.
i had snow on, my copilot is a retard. he cant manage the fuel balance in the aircraft, also he landed off the runway -.-
then he was circling about 15mins to find the parking...
so bad that we cant increase the sim rate, or use final approach.
maybe i´ll give it another chance, but with sun in the sky ^^
p.s. on my pc, never any of my earned archievements popped up on my screen...

2nd attempt, still on true to life, damned copilot missed 1st approach, then, after landing, we had to stop on taxiway, because traffic...but there is no traffic, and i am waiting now for over 45mins on hold position...
update:
had disabled the AI faggot, start taxiing again by myself (then the tower told me to taxi again), had another 3 hold positions, turned to AI on again, turnned off, taxiing to parking spot, enabled the AI, wait until engine shut down.. NO Badge pops on my screen, went back in the Profile menu, finally got it also , thanks! :-)

The copilot can be really frustrating. I've had multiple flights where it just flies past the arrival airport and I notice it too late and I'm like 100 miles past it already in the middle of the ocean...

Finally managed to unlock this one by following the 2nd guide. Just need to fuel up to 98% in advance and the AI pilot will do the approach and landing correctly.

Has anyone been able to get this recently, I've tried both guides here and the ai co pilot simply cannot fly that far without collapsing, and the flights I've done solo haven't given me the achievement despite me meeting what I believe to be the requirements.

I think I have had about enough of this achievement.

Was attempting to do it with an a320, no autopilot or anything.

As I am starting descent given to me by ATC, I see a beautiful lightning strike, next thing I know I lost all power to my jet.

Did I seriously just get struck by lightning in the game and crashed because of it?

I can ot be the only one this has happened to, can I?

Noel3679 I'm not sure mate. The description doesn't specify IFR or VFR or any rules. I suppose it's trial and error. But if it works, let me know and I'll add it to the guide.

Thanassi360, Thanks a lot! I got it finally, on my last attempt. It was a long long journey. I didn't park my A320neo at the parking spot, just landed on a runaway in RKSS and at the same time, the achievement popped up! I bought this game on STEAM, not the MS STORE version. Your solution works! Thanks again and have a nice weekend!

I followed IFR(low altitude) flight plan, followed ATC's direction. and my flight route was from RJBB to RKSS.

Okay I just did a flight with Daher TBM 930 from GATS to DAAJ and had the AI control my aircraft all the way from the start to the end. The achievement DID unlock after my aircraft came to stop at the arrival airport's parking spot.

Although I had to fuel the plane mid-flight so it wouldn't crash and I had to manually contact ATC at departure and arrival airports. I didn't have to contact each airport during the flight, just the departure and arrival.

I noticed the AI flew past my arrival airport because it didn't have permission to land so I had to be active and notice when I'm close so I could contact ATC and request permission to land. After I got the permission the AI landed the plane flawlessly. I then requested taxi to parking and the AI rolled the plane all the way to parking and the achievement indeed unlocked!

I just unlocked this a few minutes ago (Xbox Series X).

Good luck and I hope this is able to help someone else.

pick an airport with only one runway and few parking spots, set assistance to "true to life". Using AP is fine you just have to start the aircraft by yourself and do the taxi which can be confusing on a large airport

I did GCTS(Tenerife) to LPMA(Madeira) with a Cessna Citation CJ4(default) , IFR low-altitude and picked a parking spot both for departure and arrival(ramp 38 to gate A18)

not sure how important this is but I've heard that you should not close any menu after you start the flight, like ATC or Checklist

you will get the achievement when you arrive at the parking spot if you do it right

i had to do about 5 flights with different aircraft and different locations until I got it, I think picking a smaller airport helped

Good Luck

I unlocked it today. After many retries and figuring out things I got it.
I tested how the AI pilot would go taxi. So I knew how I had to go when I go do it by myself.
Also with Arrival, I just put a test, quick fly, just putting arrival and as soon as I landed I let my AI pilot do the taxi and to see how he would taxi at Rotterdam airport, so I would know how to.
Now for the test and my previous tries, I set Arrival to Gate A1 at Rotterdam Airport, but I noticed the AI pilot would not go there, instead it went to ramp 13. I flew it before and did not get the achievement wen I set the arrival to Gate A1., I guess it is just not possible for airplanes to make that turn to parking A1, or somehow it gets F upped. I guess you need nice and smooth taxi ways. Don't pick a parking next to the runway like I did on this airport, cause that probably caused the problem. So that is why I picked after testing Parking number 13 on Rotterdam.

So then I thought, lets put it on Arrival Ramp 13. And yes, it worked.

I recorded how I did it, so you can see yourself.

This guide is assuming you know the jet, the F/A-18E/F Super Hornet and know how to use auto pilot.

F/A-18E/F Super Hornet

Complete a non-stop 300+ mile flight from parking to parking spot, without assistance.

LKPR to EHRD

IFR (Low-altitude airways)

LKPR GATE A 3 / Parking - Departures (Direct)

EHRD Ramp 13 / Parking - Arrivals (Direct) - Approach (RNAV 24)

Taxi route at Airport LKPR is: AA Z T A

Taxi route at Airport EHRD is: V3

LKPR

2 NURGO
3 LATBA
4 VAGAB
5 RUNEN
6 GAPLA
7 DEGOM
8 MISGO
9 DOFMU
10 KAKKO
11 REWIK

13 ATWIT

EHRD

Airport map LKPR:
https://aim.rlp.cz/ais_data/aip/data/valid/a2-pr-adc.pdf

(Before I started I made sure everything was set right. Cause if you set it and then change from VFR (Direct-GPS) to IFR (Low-altitude airways) it may change the arrival just to the runway. Also with the Approach, it is set to Automatic and if you change it to RNAV 24, it also might change back to arrival runway 24., so after you have done this, just make sure on the map you see you start from the parking and you end at the parking, just double check everything is set right.)

Also don't forget to put your fuel on 100% before you start, I had some tries when I forgot that and had to go back to the main menu.

And of course your setting needs to be on True To Life.. you can see in the video I check it if it is still on.

And last, always check ATC, respond to ATC when needed.

Try Updating to Sim Update 8 Beta If You are having trouble unlocking this achievement. I have updated to SU8 Beta and this unlocked for me when i loaded up the game. I did this flight right a few times and it never popped, so it is good to know it does track your flights.
