Gateway Towers are a more challenging version of the towers found within the seasonal islands in Invasion. The Gateway Island is in the center of the mesa selection map upon loading into Invasion, or from choosing “mesa select” in the pause menu of Invasion.
Gateway Towers will be stacked with around 0 to 5 environmental/enemy advantage modifiers, have level specific difficulty, even beyond the max Invasion level, and reset on an hourly, daily or weekly basis.
Obtaining 5 million total score is not to be confused with lifetime score, it refers to completion of a single tower with ≥5,000,000 points. Below are my notes on doing this efficiently.

Look for an hourly or daily tower with at least 3 floors (according to reports), but I would recommend 5 floors, with NO MODIFERS (ideally). Before you head into the tower, just go to the starting island (Fengjian Village), stand on a low level node (ideally at the beginning of that map), then return to the Gateway Island. The level of the tower should drop drastically. Allowing you to one/two/three shot all enemies.
I tested this and can confirm this works, started a no modifers, level 0, 5 floor hourly tower and spammed
+ 
(must hold until attack connects and the screen flashes) on every enemy for “The Klassic” brutality move as the others kept glitching out when I played as Raiden. They went down in 1-2 hits for me and I only got 1 flawless victory. Walked out with 8.6m+.

➡️ Fatality x1 = 25,000
➡️ All Brutality Defeats = Score for entire run and brutality score multiplies by 4
➡️ All Fatality Defeats = Score for entire run and fatality score multiplies by 4

➡️ Flawless Victories add a lot of points but are optional, unsure what the bonus is but it is significant.

My biggest problem was getting to do the brutality before the opponent was killed by an environmental effect. Was an infuriating 2 hours but finally got it by sheer luck.

You can do a fatality as well. It has to be all brutalities or all fatalities for the x4 bonus.

There's a couple methods for this, both are found in Invasion mode. Make sure your invasion level is around 30 and put all your points into attack. You can use a 7-tier tower and just use Brutalities (e.g. the Uppercut), or a 5-tier tower with Brutalities but you will need to be flawless to get enough points.

So you have to obtain a high score of 5 million points in a tower in invasions. Now the most common way to get it is to either go into a 5 floor tower and and perform brutalities on all the opponents as well as achieving all flawless victories. Or to do a 7+ floor tower and just aim for all brutalities.
But due to stuff like your attacks barely scratching your enemies health bar before time runs out, as well as tower modifiers that can just completely erase your opponents health bar before you can even comprehend what is happening not allowing you to get that brutality off. It's generally a lot of grind if you want to be able to fully accomplish these feats as these require you being at level 30 and using all your stat points on attack power just to be able to have a chance at it.
But there is actually a much simpler way of achieving this earlier on.
First you must make sure your character is on the tower you want to complete (Preferably 7 or 8 floors) in the gateway portal. Then change mesas and go to the starting mesa/first world. Go all the way to the start of the level and just do the first fight as this would be an opponent on level 1. Now return to the gateway portal and all the enemies in the tower will be a lower level as well (will range from 1-3). Now they will have much less health and will be easier to take down quickly.
You will not need to get flawless victories on every fight but you will need to perform brutalities (Try and go for the Klassic uppercut by ducking down and holding triangle). If you did this correctly you should obtain over 5 million points. This works best from level 10 onward.
This is a much easier method to obtain 5 million points but if you are still struggling to pull of brutalities try allocating your stat points towards attack. You can refund you spent stat points by buying the White Enerna Core from the shop at Wu Shi Academy for 300 koins. Or if it's tower modifiers messing you up try to look for ones like the lightning strikes as they just stun you and don't deal damage. You want to stay well away from ones like acid bubbles, and exploding krystals.

Find a Daily Tower with at least three floors but preferably five, and with no modifiers. However, before you enter the Tower, go to Fengjian Village and stand a low-level node. Then go back to Gateway Island, and you will see that the level of the Tower will have dropped. This will let you decimate your enemies in one or two hits. There is an option a little simpler, but a little longer. We are looking for a tower with 9 floors or more, ending all fights with Fatality (without Brutality and possible without clear victories). For 9 floors (all fatalities) I got more than 6 million points.

Everything is simpler. We enter the invasion, the middle island. We go to the right, look for a tower with 7 floors, look at the level of the tower so that it hits 4 or 6. If not, move to any island and back until tower 4 or 6 falls out, then take a barracks and go through each floor in two hits triangle down arrow . Today in 4 minutes I passed a tower on 6 floors with a barracks of lvl 28 and scored 6,000,000.
