How to unlock the 125cc Hero achievement in MotoGP 08 - Definitive Guide

I found all of the Career Mode Champion Difficulty achievements quite hard.

I played with Arcade Handling and Auto Gearbox as I wanted to try and make it slightly easier on myself

Heres are the points I scored in each season

Year 1: 125 Class: 0 wins, 0 Pole, 22nd position, 14 points
FFM Honda GP 125
A very difficult season, I only scored points in Germany and Indianapolis.
I used the points I had won to upgrade Acceleration and added 1 onto Traction

Year 2: 125 Class: 3 wins, 7 Pole, 5th position, 188 points
FFM Honda GP 125
With these upgrades I was able to get higher place finishes and pick up a few wins, again Germany and Indianapolis are the easiest to win on.
The better positions through the season let me fully upgrade my bike by the end of the season, so it does get easier as you progress.
It was also during this season I started to play around with cutting the track in certain places, and also using riding on the grass to slow me down and sneak a few places.
Although less important in 125 class which is the easiest, these tricks/cheats really helped in the 250 & Moto GP seasons

Year 3: 125 Class: 10 wins, 8 Pole, 1st position, 312 points
Jack & Jones WRB
With a fully upgraded bike I was able to score good points from the first race and then consistently through the season.
As well as winning and unlocking the achievement, I also built up enough upgrade points to fully upgrade the 250 bike before starting the first race in season 4

Year 4: 250 Class: 7 wins, 6 Pole, 1st position, 243 points
Team Toth Aprilia
This is harder than 125 class, but I was still able to build a big enough points lead that I had won the championship with 1 race to spare.
Expect to do a fait bit of restarting, make sure you get a good qually place and also the finish in the race.
The AI will knock you off line and /or block you, hit you from behind and push you off line, make you crash, it can be frustrating.
I did notice I had lots of rain races this season as I was consistently in first place in the championship and maintained quite a big points gap over 2nd place.
I'm not sure if that was random or a game mechanic as it was very different in my final season

Year 5: Moto GP Class: 6 wins, 9 Pole, 1st position, 314 points
Repsol Honda
I had enough points to fully upgrade my bike before starting the first race.
In this season it went down to the final race, I was 24 points ahead of Pedrossa and managed a points finish in the last race to win the championship.
This is the most difficult season, Stoner, Rossi, Pedrossa & Lorenzo all seemed to be very good and for most of the season I was between 2nd to 5th place in the championship.
Maybe because of this I had far fewer rain races, which does help as I could never score points in those.
Expect to do lots of restarting, it's really important to get as many points as possible from the tracks you know you can usually beat the AI on, then take what you can on the harder tracks, for me that was anywhere between 5th & 7th

General Tips
Chose the best team you can unlock, it may not be the best team overall, I never had enough points to unlock the top team in each class, but try to make it easier on yourself

Cheat, learn where to cut the track, it can make the difference.
Trust me it may seem cheap, but if like me, after 5 seasons it comes down to the final race and that's the difference between unlocking the achievement and doing another 5 season, I know what I would chose to do.

There are some tracks that just suck and I was never able to score good points.
Losail & Mugello were always bad, TT Assen, Brno, Motegi & Vallencia were hit and miss

On the flip side there are tracks that are always very easy and you should always aim to win these, then there some that become easy with a few track cuts
Jerez, Estoril, China, Le Mans, Donnington, Sachsenring, Misano Indianapolis, Sepang

Rain races are always going to be difficult, I would quite often re-start these several times over an run the race in the hope that one of the main championship contenders would fall or several would place badly. That seemed like the ideal scenario to minimise the loss of points.

You could try this tip in the races you know you should win, repeating them until you seem you main rival slip down the grid or fall. This could help build a lead, but you may end up with more rain races as I did in my 4th season?

To try score consistently. I was quite happy to take a 5-7th place if there was a non championship contender going to win the race, I had re-started it many times over and knew I would struggle to do better, especially if it was on one of the difficult tracks where the AI always seem to be very good or very dirty.

I wish you had a video of the places where you can cut the track, I can't seem to find any from trial & error
