How to unlock the Good Sport Award achievement in NCAA Football 10 - Definitive Guide

While the idea of only getting a small amount of sportsman points per drive is disheartening, it actually should take less than 10 games to get the achievement even for those far in the negative.

I started -2,000pts in the hole. Just pick an A quality team against Western Kentucky, set the quarters to 15min, and start the game. To make this really easy, turn off offside penalties. Now you should super-sim the first three quarters. 9/10 you'll be ahead 40+ by the start of the 4th. Turn on "chew clock". If your on offense just run QB kneel while doing a quick snap after each play to avoid the clock running. If your on defense, sack the QB asap. If you do it right, you can average 700-800pts per game.

You must play at least one quarter for it to post to the servers as well, if you supersim to offense it will say not enough time played, and if you are ahead by enough let them score by doing field goal block,

Unobtainable now, as EA shut down the season showdown servers a while back.

Some notes I woould add (started at -1030 myself).
A) Time is your friend, 10-15 min quarters will net you major points in the 4th!!
B) It wasnt much, but with a huge lead and chew up the clock turned on I was netting 2 points per down in the 3rd quarter + punt was getting me 16points per possession so consider starting earlier than the 4th. I went from -400+ to +700 and level 10 in two 10 min games including a 695 in one game alone. If I'd played 15 min quarters 800+ should be easy.
C) just because the screen pops up you earned X number of points, if you hit the Start button you can view your total and see that you are actually getting 2x or more points (in the 4th quarter). You earn points for Chewing up the clock and Kneel downs/Punt/Field Goal at the same time while the screen will only reflect 1 per play. They do stack!

If you turn the offside and encroachment pentaltys all the way down you can then cross the line of scrimmage before the ball snaps and when the qb snaps the you get the sack along with 8 points to the skills side. i was averaging over 100 points a game and got the achievment really fast.
NOTE* when you cross the line of scrimmage be sure to not rub into anyone cause it will be considered encroachment... and make sure you hold down the RT button so that your selected player doesnt go to his assignment.. it works try it!!!

You get sportsmanship for doing certain things in a game. Punting or kicking a field goal on 4th down or taking a knee to wind down the clock late in the 4th quarter, for example. Running up the score on your opponent will effect you more negatively than anything you can do in a game. Each of the examples I gave will give 5 or 10 points. Running up the score will take 75 points away. You can check where you are by going to Season Showdown, Credit History, My Credits. Sportsmanship is in the Extra Credits section on the right side in the top row.

Credits (thanks to xMaJoRdAnGeRx, RLKDragon, SengIV, txhorns10, and StalkingGrunt911):

Offense Positive:
Chew Clock +10
Kicking on 4th down +10
Take a Knee +10

Offense Negative:
Onside Kick/with lead: -25
Going for it on 4th down/with lead -5
2 pt Conversion/with lead -10

Running up the score -50
Running up the score (2nd time): -75
Calling a timeout/with time running out -100
Running up the score (3rd time): -150
Defense Negative:
Repeated Encroachment -5

Tip from Cauchy:
First, set the game to Freshman, 2 minute quarters, no injuries, no fatigue, max out all of the User's AI and deplete all of the CPU's AI. Play a really good team agains a pretty bad one. Start the game out with a TD. Once you've scored try to get as many sacks and interceptions as possible to rack up your Skill and Strategy credits and to regain possession of the ball. For the first three quarters, whenever you have the possession (after you've taken the lead), spike the ball until you get to 4th down. Then Punt. As you know, you'll get 10 Sportsman credits each time, plus what ever Skill and Strategy you've accumulated to regain the possess. Keep repeating this until the fourth quarter. The only thing that changes to this strategy in the fourth is that you should kneel instead of spike, thereby getting a lot more Sportsmanship credits.
