How to unlock the Active Lifestyle achievement in Need for Speed Payback - Definitive Guide

I would highly recommend beating the entire storyline before trying to complete any of the activities. The jump ones are pretty easy but some of them still require upgraded cars.

I used the Regera which is the fastest car in the game for the speed traps and speed runs. The traps are the second easiest of all activities to complete three stars. Just line up a pretty good distance from the speed traps and gun it till you hit 3 star speed. The speed runs were by far the hardest ones for me to get. These you just have to stay patient on. Hitting the required speed is not too hard but doing it while dodging all the traffic in the game is frustrating. Nighttime definitely has less cars spawn so if you're stuck on one, move on to another for the time being, and just return to the hardest ones when it gets dark. Your character will usually say something about it being night time and that's when you'll know it's transitioned over. You shouldn't have to upgrade the Regera anymore than stock but I would recommend trying to get full outlaw for extra Nitrous and top speed.

The drift ones are definitely the second hardest. I used an almost fully upgraded BMW M5 because I used it for the 350,000 score achievement also and got used to how it handles. It has good speed, handling, but it is rather bulky. There are only a couple drift locations that are pretty difficult but same as the speed runs, you just need to be patient. You'll be doing pretty bad on some runs and then completely blow it away all of a sudden. I recommend getting some good speed going into the start of these activities or even drift the corner into the starting line so you get a good feel for the road.

For all of the activities except for the jumps, you are able to hit from both sides so take a look at the map to see which direction will work best for you. Most speed traps will be obvious which direction to take, but some can be done from either direction. For the drift activities, some might be easier going uphill and some downhill. I found dirt drifts to be easier going uphill for the most part.

Sorry the guide is a long read but these are some pointers that I have for trying out this achievement. I am currently one drift challenge away from all 3 stars. Hope this helps, feel free to message me for anything you might need.

Update 1:
I used a virtual interactive map to uncover most of the activities found at:

http://swissgameguides.com/maps/need_for_speed_payback/world...

They do not have the drift locations on that map yet though. But if you go for all the collectibles first, you'll uncover a great deal of activities. The only downside is that you practically have to drive through the starting line to discover it on the main map but you will see them on the mini map at all times when you're near them.
I did find a video on YouTube that shows all the activities. Luckily I only needed it for locating one drift activity which was in the city that I hadn't discovered.

You have to find all of the challenges first. They do not automatically appear on your map. Just like with the chips and billboards they do not appear until you are near them.

You must be really good to put drifts as the second hardest. Most of the speed runs are on pavement and the Regera goes fast enough to make exceeding the average easy. Meanwhile with drifts, if you hit the wall you're done. If you clip a car, not only are you usually done on that run, but they become a landmine on the next pass as they sit there apparently waiting for your insurance information.

Hmm that's weird. It must've copied wrong. Thanks for putting an extra link. I'll try to copy yours. And for the drifting ones, I just made sure I got plenty of speed going into the drift zone and then if I was going to be close to not completing the score, I would hold the handbrake and u-turn at the end. Usually earns an extra 10k or so.

One thing I'm just going to throw out into the universe, whether it helps or not, is that I used a stock Aventador to do all my drift events, both offroad and street. I used the M5 and other slower cars and found I was able to swing the back end out a lot further and easier in the Aventador rather than these other cars. If you can afford it, give it a shot. I'm sure there are other cars out there that worked but my stock Aventador has done me wonders.

I just wanted to post that link but saw you already have it. Used that map for everything. For the drift zones I used the derelict mustang at 399 and did not have much trouble. the important thing is to stay away from the walls to avoid resetting your multiplier. For everything else I also used the koenigsegg. The only thing I struggled with is that jump directly next to the highway with crash barriers shielding the ramp.

Sorry if I am being stupid but is there anyway to cross them off / remove the symbols off the interactive map once complete?

If you complete a whole type of symbol you should be able to deselect them on the right side and it won't show those anymore. I had only one selected at a time while I was doing the driving challenges.

Thanks iTz Canada Ehh, it did help a lot! I was stuck in four or five very difficult drift challenges, and the Lamborghini Huracan maxed out 6x same brand wasn't working, after countless tries. Some of those I managed much easier with the stock aventador, a couple others I had to go find the Nissan Fairlady derelict (with the catch up upgrade), which turned out to be even better than the Aventador, seemingly. Thanks for the tip, made me not quit this terrible game before completing it.

Glad to see you got it done. I know the drifts were a huge pain. Wanted to rip my hair out during a few of them. Very rewarding to be done with it though.

In case you have not tried the Mazda RX-7 for drifting, give it a try. Helped me get my last one quite easily.

The Mazda RX-7 was my definite drift car in the end because it could take sharper turns and handled easier than the BMW.

Eject Button was an extremely difficult Long Jump that took a lot of tries, but 3 starred it with a 10.0 Airtime Offroad Skyline GT-R V-Spec R32.

The drifts are actually alright - I found Aki's car years ago and switched to a Huracán which was brilliant. Speed traps aren't too arduous and I have 2 or so left to do. The speed runs are on another level of annoying, though.

Would have been great if Ghost added a filtering option to the in game map. Took me a while to find them all and the off-road speed runs did my head in. Tap a rock or boulder and you'll have to re do the run. What also doesn't help is that off-road handling is fucking terrible and Ghost need to fix it. Good luck to all.

A note with the interactive map, if you have uBlock Origin installed on your browser you can right click on the individual icons and click 'block element' to remove them one at a time. I did the speed runs, speed traps and jumps alongside each other doing this, made it much quicker. I assume other adblockers would work also.

Doing the drifts now. I hate drifting... cry

I suggest using this map: https://swissgameguides.com/maps/need_for_speed_payback/worl...
and doing this at the end of the game, just use the Regera and it will be really easy.

To comfortably complete this trophy you will need (based on your experience):
Pagani huayra - for passing radars and speed races. Koenigsegg regera - worse acceleration, and a small supply of nitro.
BMW M5 2017 - for drift races
Chevrolet c10 - for jumping. Be sure to select speed cards with this indicator, they are very important.

Drift - it's better to take cars from SpeedCross (if this add-on is available). There is some kind of cheating add-on for the Dodge Charger R/T, any drift is 5+. The main thing is to set the “Nitro” parameters to “Power” and “Control Style” to “Soft” in the quick tuning menu.

I don’t understand what “First try” the person above is talking about, I went from 4 locations to 2 to 3 stars, wasting almost all my nerve cells and cursing the developers every minute. No car will help, you just have to be lucky with a small amount of traffic. The game is the worst of the worst, I've never seen anything like it. Regera-speed, BMW M5-Drift, used Porsche Panamera for jumping

It is better to take place competitions at night, there is much less traffic.

I went through all the radars in a drag car. Almost everywhere the speed is 360, it picks up instantly and can be completed almost everywhere the first time.

Regarding passing competitions for 3 stars.
I tried it on different machines:
“Radars” - BMW M5 (399), Lamborghini Aventador (399) - I advise you not to even try, you will waste your time.

Take the Koenigsegg Regera (racing), level it up to level 399, configure the car at your discretion, in some places you need handling, in others downforce, in others a quick start.
Regarding the “Speed Race” and “Jumps”, it’s still the same Regera.

"Drift" - Don't torture yourself because you'll waste too much nerve and energy.
Complete Speedcross and find 5 relics - and take the Dodge Charger (Speedcross) - simply unrealistic "imba"
All drifts are completed in 1 run, with a plus 30 thousand points reserve.

pagani huayra can be obtained for free as an abandoned car (but you need to look for the event)
for drifting it is better to use rx-7 spirit r (or lamborghini huracan )
for jumping, I also used pagani huayra , just pumping it up for jump and nitro (in the end, 5 cards with nitro, 5 with jump + Americana brand bonus, the result is jump somewhere around 8-9 , and nitro 9, 9 )

I confirm the Dodge Charger R/T is really a cheat. I completed almost all the routes the first time and broke the records of all my friends. In the city it’s more difficult, I think another car would be better suited here, but off-road it’s just fire, and uphill the drift gets even steeper, since you’re drifting almost non-stop

To get this trophy you will need (from personal experience in completing the game)

Koenigsegg Regera (racing version) - Speed cards (Outlaws first put cards with jumps for jumping, then put Outlaws speed, nitro, acceleration and brake cards) + also a bonus for 6 Outlaws speed + nitro cards.
completed - jumps, shields, radars and races, of course, did not pass the first time - I had to wait for the night for less traffic
Well, and the tricks of a sharper.

Lamborghini Huracan (drift version) - Speed cards (Shidori - Speed, acceleration, nitro, brakes) + Also a bonus for 6 Shidori cards acceleration + braking. Drifting is done on the easy side.

For car settings, see the add-on from Klifer.

Of course, I understand that everything has already been discussed. BUT!
It seems that no one paid attention to this small fact. Perhaps this will save someone a ton of time and nerve cells.
I struggled for almost a week with passing the drift tests and some particularly difficult high-speed races (super drive and dusty race, I think that’s what they’re called). I tried a bunch of machines, spent all my nerve cells and was ready to give up everything. But on one of the races, I started using a regular brake, not a handbrake, to take turns (before that I only used the handbrake and it was torture). After that, all races were completed in 1-3 attempts, even the most difficult ones.
Cars - Konigseg regera (speed, jumping, radar), Lamba Huracan (drift). All!

Here it is only you who will be comfortable playing on what it is, you decide for yourself, especially drift. Everyone has their own settings. The most important thing is to choose a car and that’s it

1. Radars, speed races, jumps.
In principle, the above tests can be easily passed on a Koenigsegg regera (some places will have to be repeated several times due to heavy traffic, but overall the tests are easy)
2. Drift.
At the beginning, I tried to pass this type of test on a BMW M5 (as advised above), but something didn’t work out with it (possibly due to the crookedness) and decided to buy a Lamborghini Huracan. I had to suffer only in some places, including mountainous terrain (off-road). But I think that this is the best car for passing drift tests.
In total you will need only 2 cars:
- Koenigsegg regera (I used the “Racing version”
- Lamborghini Huracan (drift version)

Klifer's advice was very helpful! But I will add that a big plus in gaining points gives:
- continuity of drifting , try to go through the entire track in one drift
- speed does not matter much, the main thing is not to crash so that the coefficient does not drop
- to skid, use a short press on the brake; the handbrake is only needed to avoid hitting obstacles
- if you can’t pass, experiment with the “drift angle” and weight distribution setting , for example, I did races with sharp and narrow turns with a small drift angle and medium weight distribution. Long turns with a maximum drift angle and weight distribution shifted to the front.

I tried to pass the drift zone on a maximally pumped up BMW M5, Chevrolet Camaro z28, but was able to pass on a Nissan Firlady 240ZG (relic).

I don’t agree with the commentator above that speed is not important in drifting. Still so important. Try to accelerate better, and not crash, go at this speed, simultaneously letting the car skid. In general, I didn’t feel any pain during these runs; everything went smoothly in 1-2 attempts, except for a couple of sections. They had to replace the Camaro with a Huracan. The Huracan is great for drifting. The speed races were more difficult. The real stupidity is that the meter in the test does not correspond to the speed at which you are driving. took place on reger, huair and c10 Holtzman

Radars and speed runs seemed pretty easy to me (relatively speaking, I guess).
Drifting is some kind of hell. Either I’m cranky or something, but I tried all the methods described here, as well as on YouTube, forums, etc. Regarding the cars and their settings, nothing helped me: I was hitting the walls of the track, I couldn’t skid, I had difficulty gaining one star. But over time it started to work out, and then everything became easier and easier.
What I can personally recommend:
  • car - Huracan 399 (it didn’t work on BMW, although I started with it)
  • spare parts - chidori with bonuses for acceleration, nitro and braking
  • the stans settings in the garage, as for me, are complete nonsense, they don’t affect anything, just for appearance
  • settings on the go: drift angle - always maximum to the right, handbrake strength - 1-2 notches to the left (weaker). AND THE MOST IMPORTANT thing is the weight distribution: I constantly adjusted it depending on the track. If the speed is high, the car pulls forward and skids slightly - we shift the weight to the left (rear). If the turns are very sharp, the rear begins to catch the outer edge of the turn, which prevents it from fitting into turns - slightly move the slider to the right. Over time, I felt this and adjusted after a test drive of the track from the maximum left position to the middle (mostly the left three divisions). I don’t know who writes that the front needs to be loaded: the car is dragging, the rear doesn’t want to skid.

I spent hours walking the first 5 routes: a couple of hours for each. Then things started to get a little better. And I probably passed the last five almost the first time.
I was already thinking about buying this add-on for a cheating machine, I had already cursed everything, but I felt sorry for the money for a game that I already hated.
This video also helped. There are races here from easy to difficult, so it’s much easier to get used to drifting and gradually increasing the difficulty.

I’ll add on my own: don’t be afraid of drifting, drifting is the simplest type of test, after jumping. Any car level 399 will do; you can find the stance and control settings above. I would also recommend using Chidori cards for drifting - they give a bonus to acceleration and braking, which is important for drifting. In reality, only 2 sections made me sweat - I completed it in 2 sittings on a Nissan Fairlady (relic).

It is much more difficult to complete speed races (and radars) - traffic will get in the way very much. It is best to use Huayra or Regera. I used 3 Chidori and 3 Nextech as tuning cards - this combination gives bonuses for acceleration, speed and braking. I spoiled a lot of nerves.

For Chevy C10 jumps with a set of Americana or Carbon cards - they give bonuses to the bite.

Some tests require the car to enter a sharp turn with little loss of speed while maintaining an average speed (for example, the "SUPERDRIVE" average speed test or the "PASS" radar test). To do this you need:
Stabilization system - off,
Downforce - maximum to the right (if you don’t do this, the car will skid)
The steering sensitivity is set to the maximum to the right (this way the car will go into a skid, but almost without losing speed).
Try it, it helped me a lot!

drift
The car that the story took place in would be more suitable. 390+ naturally.
in the tooltip I wrote about the McLaren 570

all the rest
if you don’t want to waste your nerves, energy and time, then definitely choose regera
Level 399, cards: 3 chidori, 3 outlaw
it is very advisable to catch 2-3 bonuses in total for nitro/brakes/acceleration/speed/flight (maybe not necessary, I’m writing as it was not difficult for me.. the only question is about flight, 2-3 scales are enough, you can have spare cards)
stabilization - off
downforce: 1 scale to the right of the center towards "high"
Steering sensitivity: 3 scales to the right of center towards “high”.

Regera without nitro accelerates without problems to 400-415. Also, off-road it maintains 200 km/h+, often with accidents you can get 3 stars.
in 2-3 tests at medium speed it will be difficult and you will need to change the car to an off-road 390+... it will suit the plot perfectly.

I tried the Hayaru, I tried the McLaren R1, I tried the Corvette.. but it was very lacking even on the radars.. and with the reger there were 1-2 attempts in 70% of the tests.
the same regera is needed for one more trophy.

According to Drift:
There are so many tips about what kind of car you should buy, but what’s the point of it if it doesn’t say about the most important thing?! No matter what car you buy in stock settings, it will take a long time to get the trophy...
Take any car you like: BMW, Camaro, Lamborgini... It doesn’t really matter. And what matters is how you set it up, and you won’t have to suffer as they write here.
Garage settings:
1. Select a car for drifting, go to the “Change Stens” section
- Front wheel camber -> maximum right slider (more);
- Rear wheel camber -> slider as far to the right as possible (more);
- Height -> maximum left slider (smaller);
2. We leave the garage outside, click on the “Tuning” menu :
-Drift angle -> maximum right slider (more);
-Weight distribution -> slider as far to the right as possible (in front);
-Handbrake power -> 1-2 units to the right (stronger);
We ride a little, we get used to it.

Radars, Speed Races, Jumping:
I did everything on 1 Koenigsegg Regera car, not everything in one sitting, but after 3-5 attempts it worked, the main thing is to also customize it for yourself in the “Tuning” menu, click :
- Stabilization system -> Off;
- Downforce -> maximum right slider (high);
- Steering sensitivity -> 3-4 units to the left (low);
Experiment with them depending on the competition, where you need to turn strongly and speed is not particularly important, but where, on the contrary, the steering does not move much despite the joystick deflection.
