How to unlock the Sideways Style achievement in Need for Speed Payback - Definitive Guide

Found this video on YouTube that shows all locations, and how to get 3 stars on each.

I definitely suggest getting a Huracan as it is the best drift car in the game.

Are you sure the lamborghini Huracan is the best drift car in payback?? THe reason is because the 350Z is a pretty good drift car so far.

^^To avoid the checkpoint reset on Keep On Drifting you need to hug the right-hand side wall at the penultimate checkpoint just as you come out the garage. Which, of course, will reset your multiplier, so you really need to have banked the 45K before this point if you want the 3 stars, which is easier said than done. How I did it, was I managed to maintain my 3x multiplier getting into the garage, then while doing the 360 degree drift in the garage that points you toward the exit, continue the drift for a further 360 until it stops scoring you. It got me just over 46K. I was then able to carefully tip-toe to the end, avoiding the glitch.

I noticed on the video the guy didn't have to avoid the glitch. The video was made on PS4, which suggests it's a game engine bug related to Xbox only and not a programming mishap. Though I don't doubt there are plenty of morons at EA Ghost!

Upvoting for the Huracan. Stuffed it with Chidori and drifted back and forth between corners when i could. I didn't actually watch the video, but this thing slid and grabbed mostly when I needed it to. The one that mostly gave me fits was the last one I did, Keep on Drifting, which takes place in an underground garage. The moron that programmed it did a really bad job, as at one point many times I would cross the start line from the other side above ground and it would break my run and start a new run with no turns to drift. I had more than 45k banked and ready and it would restart. And the direction you go to get that sucker to glitch was my best chance at getting the score. I finally cleared it when I managed to avoid the reset and got over 50k on it.

IF THE LAMBORGHINI HURACAN IS NOT WORKING FOR YOU TRY THIS

If like me you bought the lamborghini Huracan got it to 399 and still can't touch the scores provided, I am going to share my method that I used to unlock this achievement on my friends account...

First off you want to get the Nissan Fairlady 240ZG (the very first derelict car)
And choose DRIFT!!! If you chose different you want to collect all 5 of the derelict cars and Assemble them, (this will unlock all cars in all the dealers shops) if you chose anything but Drift, it will cost you under $39,000
- Then you want to upgrade it too level 399 (use any method you want to get all your parts to 18)

Once your car is level 399 and looking however you want it too look... You want to rake it for a spin... But before you do anything you want to go to LIVE TUNING and change these...

Assuming that all 3 of these are right in the middle!! Any + is to the right - is to the left
- Drift Angle = +1
- Weight = - 5
- Handbrake = +3

Leave your Ride Height, Front Camber and Rear Camber STANDARD!!

This vehicle should work on any Dirt or Tarmac drift zone with ease...
Use the LT to initiate a drift, instead of handbrake, but it's there if its needed
Avoid hitting walls!! HITTING CARS KEEPS YOUR MULTIPLIER

Hope this method helps anyone else out there...

For me the 240ZG was so much easier than the Huracan. After struggling on some with the Huracan, bought the 240ZG, applied the live tuning, and was getting the ones I struggled on first or second try.

Trick to easily get 3 stars on Drift zones
Drift zones are not so hard to get 1 star (needed for this achievement), but could be annoying if you want to get 3 stars on each.
For me it was absolutely impossible to get three stars until I found the trick. After that I did 3 stars in each zone really quickly.

Using this trick you do not have to be experienced in drifting, just have to know how to do the drift to stop the car (parallely push brake and turn left/right until car stops)

What would you need:
- Drift car (I did it in Mini, fully upgraded)
- upgraded Nitro (the more the better)
- upgraded brakes (the more the better)

Trick:
before start each zone try to get high speed (use Nitro if possible), then just after pass the start line - make a drift.
Then stop, go back a bit, then again get high speed and after you pass point with your last stop, make drift again.
Then again stop, go back a bit more, and again get high speed and drift.
Repeat this as many times as you need (but please remember, that time to reach next checkpoint is limited).
Each drift should give you thousands of points (depending of speed and multiplier) in short section of the road.
Of course it would be harder to do that on curves, but then just pass them and find next straight road.

What you would have to have in mind
- you won't get any points if you are drifting on part of road which you have already passed, so try to remember the point where you have stopped and going back. Make your next drifts after passing this point.
- Passing time between each checkpoint is limited. Please remember that, because drive forward and back takes some time. Do not make many drifts between checkpoints (three, four should be ok) to not exceed the time (actually during my attempts only that thing caused problems and I had to repeat the zone because of time limit exceed, not because of not enough points).
- of course try to not lose your multiplier and use nitro as most as possible

I would like to suggest using the Mini Countryman in the SpeedCross configuration with a full Chidori card suite focusing on acceleration and braking power.

It has a smaller car frame and using the live tuning settings you can select full acceleration on gear settings, looser steering control for easier drifting and either full power or longer duration nitrous.

It also benefits that the speedcross cars are well suited in either offroad or paved road conditions.

I used this configuration to do the offroad drifting with ease, the paved drifts were a chore due to mostly traffic but the car performed well on curves.

I suggest using this map: https://swissgameguides.com/maps/need_for_speed_payback/worl...
and doing this at the end of the game, I did it using the BMW M5 because it's the best for drift in my opinion

The most difficult competition of all four. If anyone wants to knock out platinum, I recommend going for the Chevrolet Camaro Z28 ! Get rid of cars like Silvia, Skyline, 350Z, Fairlady and others. And no BMW M5, which is required for the Driving the Incredible trophy! I killed a lot of nerve cells with this machine. In the end, after trying a bunch of cars, I came to the conclusion that the Camaro is the best car for drifting in Payback. Very powerful (about 1200 horses with maximum tuning), due to this the car constantly drifts even uphill! Drift points and multiplication accumulate at a phenomenal speed. Where I struggled on the M5 and Sky, I passed on the Camaro literally on the second or third try, while scoring much more points than required!

Very easy to go through. I passed almost everything the first time (with the exception of some routes). I drove a Lamborghini Huracan, but only did the weight distribution on the rear of the car, not the front. Some people write that high speed is not necessary, others write that the opposite is necessary. It's better to keep the middle ground by helping NITRO. In one run, almost 40k points were scored. I completed all sections in about 40 minutes.
For me, the high-speed sections turned out to be much harder than drifting.

The angle of the car's turn in drifting greatly affects the points.
the more = better. before exiting the arc, it is advisable, on the contrary, to throw the car sharply even deeper, and also, before the finish line, to throw the car into a donut if possible - this will help you get points if it’s really difficult.
The point is to gain a multiplier (give a larger drift angle) and then cut off points (moving along the outer radius of the turn = longer path = more points). All. no combos, no maintaining speed, no anything else - nothing is needed.

I didn't use nitro at all.
car McLaren 570 (399 all chidori)
drift angle (less) 1-2 divisions not completely
weight distribution (front) 1-2 divisions not completely
handbrake power (weaker) 2-3 divisions not fully

traffic does not affect the multiplier.
walls do not knock down the points scored, only the multiplier.
so don’t be too afraid or worry, even with very dirty races you will gain points with a reserve. about 5 really difficult races (some are very technical, some fall from cliffs or accidents with traffic)
if the car starts to level out, then quickly pressing the regular brake will throw it back into the drift corner (of course, it won’t work at low speeds)

With drifting, it is clear that the leader is a Charger from speedcross, if there is an addition. The settings have already been recommended here. Otherwise, I would recommend any rear-wheel drive car with great power and acceleration. The Nissan relic is also good, the only car on which I completed the story to the end, pumping it only to 280. With full pumping it will be very good. Spare parts are better than chidori (acceleration + brakes), it’s good if you also get a bonus for nitro. Although it can be combined with 3x3 outlaw.

In general, it is a very individual and random discipline. You need to select the car for yourself, but on my own behalf I will say that I completed all the races in Hourican. The angle settings are greater, the weight distribution is rear, the brakes are stronger 2 notches before reaching the end. Of course with the 399 set and only from Chidori. Initially, start trying and getting used to the car in off-road drift mode in order to feel how to properly enter a turn and under what conditions bonuses are awarded, collect a multiplier if possible, do not try to take everything. It is very important to find the entrance to the turn correctly, then either go into all turns, or score the maximum possible number of points. You can stop in the middle of the section, back up, accelerate and continue through the section. According to the residual principle, I have 5 difficult races left. Their elimination, after completing the main races, happened precisely at random, with a little experience, a little luck, because traffic is sometimes terribly annoying. At night there is actually less traffic and it is at night that I advise you to take the busiest routes. During the day, close off-road and closed areas.

It is better to pass on any speedcross type car. I drove the Infiniti q60 without any problems. I only suffered on a couple of drifts. We set the controls to be softer in the settings. Try to keep the multiplier at least x3 and gaining points is very easy

They write that it is better to drift on a Lamborghini Huracan, but for me it turned out to be a terrible car, I spent an hour on one drift, tried all the different settings on the car, nothing helped.
I took a Dodge Charger R/T from a speedcross dealer from the add-on and completed this drift the second time. settings on such as "Nitro" to "Power" , and "Control Style" to "Soft"
If there is an addition, then this car will save you a lot of nerves. If you don’t have any additional options, try different cars, but I would definitely NOT recommend the Lamborghini Huracan

Take any car you like: BMW, Camaro, Lamborgini ... It doesn’t really matter. And what matters is how you set it up, and you won’t have to suffer as they write here.
Garage settings:
1. Select a car for drifting, go to the “Change Stens” section
-Camber of the front wheels -> maximum to the right slider (more);
-Camber of the rear wheels -> maximum to the right slider (more);
-Height -> maximum left slider (smaller);
2. We leave the garage outside, click on the “Tuning” menu:
-Drift angle -> maximum right slider (more);
-Weight distribution -> slider as far to the right as possible (in front);
-Handbrake power -> 1-2 units to the right (stronger);
We ride a little, we get used to it.

The best car in my opinion is the Lamborghini Huracan
Klifer's tip is not entirely suitable for this car

- Weight distribution -> maximum LEFT slider (rear)

And don’t try to reach maximum speed, it’s better to go a little slower, but continuously try to go the entire route while drifting.
At night, traffic from other cars drops significantly, in the morning it stops altogether, try to do “combat” races at this time, and during the day do training, memorizing turns and all that.
Another tip - crash into another car before the start of the track so that it remains on the road, other cars will not go around it, so you will definitely have one clear lane during the race
