How to unlock the Transcendent Being achievement in NieR:Automata BECOME AS GODS Edition - Definitive Guide
*MISSABLE*
Online Connection Recommended
There are 26 endings in Nier Automata. The first five endings are story related and only one ending is missable: ending Y. The rest can be mopped up with Chapter Select or done as you progress throughout the game. The most important thing is to make sure you save your game often, and if applicable, before attempting any bad ending. Each non-story ending results in a game over and will take you back to your most recent manual save! Once you have achieved an ending, it will show up on your save file. Here is a list of all endings:

The most important thing is to make sure you save your game often, and if applicable, before attempting any bad ending. Each non-story ending results in a game over and will take you back to your most recent manual save! Once you have achieved an ending, it will show up on your save file. Here is a list of all endings:
- Ending A: flowers for m[A]chines – This ending is story-related.
- Ending B: or not to [B]e – This ending is story-related.
- Ending C; meaningless [C]ode – This is one of two endings you can achieve as A2 after clearing the game as both 2B and 9S. Once you get to the final battle in Chapter 17, choose A2 for this ending
- Ending D; chil[D]hood’s end – This is one of two endings you can achieve as A2 after clearing the game as both 2B and 9S. Once you get to the final battle in Chapter 17, choose 9S for this ending.
- Ending E: the [E]nd of yorha – Once you have obtained both ending C and D, you will be asked two questions from your pod programs. Answer yes to both to begin a final battle against the credits in a shoot-em-up minigame. Eventually the credits will become very difficult and you will die, but make sure to continue fighting. After a couple of deaths, the game will ask you if you want help; select Yes. This will cause a bunch of ships to help you beat the credits and achieve ending E. If you cannot connect to the internet, you will not be able to receive help and this ending will be incredibly difficult to achieve.
- Ending F: mission [F]ailed – Obtainable as 9S. During the first fight with Engels in Chapter 1, you will get knocked out and need to repair yourself. Just sit there and let the timer run out.
- Ending G: hun[G]ry for knowledge – Obtainable as 9S. As soon as you gain control of 9S in Chapter 1, do not enter the flight unit and run away to obtain this ending.
- Ending H: a mountain too [H]igh – Obtainable as 2B or 9S. During Chapter 5, you will receive word from your operator that a Goliath-class enemy is attacking the city. Instead of following the marker, go to a completely different area, such as the Desert. This ending will unlock once you are far, far away from helping defend against the Goliath.
- Ending I: no [I] in team – Obtainable as 2B. After you defeat the boss in the Copied City, simply leave the area before interacting with 9S.
- Ending J: bad [J]udgement – Obtainable as 2B. During Chapter 9, you will enter the factory with Pascal to meet with the friendly machines. There will be a few machines with purple robes indicating royalty; kill them for this ending.
- Ending K: aji wo [K]utta – Obtainable as 2B. During Chapter 6, you will receive an email from Jackass telling you to pay her a visit about a fish. Head to her location and speak with her to receive a Mackerel. In your inventory, you can eat the Mackerel and obtain this ending. Turns out androids are a little more than just allergic to seafood.
- Ending L: [L]one wolf – Obtainable as 2B or 9S. During Chapter 10, the Resistance Camp will be attacked. A bunch of machines will assemble into a spherical boss fight right outside the camp. This is your que to once again run away from the fight, leaving the camp to fend for themselves and earning yourself another bad ending.
- Ending M: break ti[M]e – Obtainable as A2. During Chapter 14, Pascal will call out to A2 to return to Pascal’s village because it is under attack. Instead of heading there, run far away from the camp until this bad ending triggers.
- Ending N: [N]o Man's Village – Obtainable as 2B or 9S. This ending is achieved by killing all friendly machines in Pascal’s village, and can be done as soon as Chapter 5.
- Ending O: just y[O]u and me – Obtainable after route A & B. As soon as you have finished Route B, you will be sent back to Earth as 2B and 9S. This is before you gain control of A2. You will land on the highway in the City Ruins and it will be foggy. Instead of jumping off and taking out the enemies as instructed, turn around and run away until the ending triggers. For Chapter Select purposes, this is listed as 11-03.
- Ending P: corru[P]tion – Obtainable after route A & B. As you play out the sequences of Chapter 11, 2B will become infected with a virus. You will need to let the virus kill her before reaching the objective for this ending. It is worth noting that the virus will increase faster the closer you are to the objective, so I recommend approaching it until the virus is increasing at a faster rate.
- Ending Q: [Q]uestionable actions – Obtainable after route A & B. As the events of Chapter 11 continue to unfold, your will take control of 9S. Your pod will mention dangerous tremors caused by an earthquake, and you will be tasked to rendezvous with 2B. Instead of heading towards the marker, run away to a different area, such as the Desert until this ending triggers.
- Ending R: mave[R]ick – Obtainable as A2. During Chapter 14, you will enter the Abandoned Factory with Pascal. As soon as you enter, Pascal will be right in front of you, surrounded by some friendly robots. Attack the robots to trigger this ending.
- Ending S: city e[S]cape – Obtainable as A2. At the beginning of Chapter 17, you will be tasked with entering the large tower that appeared in the City Ruins. After interacting with it, Devola and Popola will appear to help you out. Once they appear and the fighting begins, run away from the battle until this bad ending pops up.
- Ending T: fa[T]al error – Obtainable at any time. This ending is one of the first you can get in the game. When looking at your plug-in chips, you will have an operating chip plugged in. Simply remove this chip to obtain this ending. Make sure to save beforehand in case you attempt this as soon as you enter the Bunker. I forgot to save myself and had to replay the entire prologue.
- Ending U: deb[U]nked – Obtainable as 2B. By holding down and , 2B will self-destruct. Do this while you are on the bunker to kill everyone on board and obtain this ending. If you did not get this during the prologue, you can load up Chapter 6 via Chapter Select.
- Ending V: reckless bra[V]ery – Obtainable as A2. At the beginning of Chapter 17, you will be tasked with entering the large tower that appeared in the City Ruins. After interacting with it, Devola and Popola will appear to help you out. They will tell you to hack the Tower nodes while they fight off enemies. Instead, just stand there without interacting with the Tower until this ending triggers.
- Ending W: broken [W]ings – Obtainable as 2B. During the prologue (labeled Chapter 01-01 in Chapter Select), you will be flying towards the factory in a shoot-em-up section. Near the end, you will begin being attacked by a giant laser that you need to avoid several times. Let the lasers kill you for this ending. For me, I had to increase the difficulty in order for the lasers to kill me when I did it via Chapter Select.
- Ending X: time to rela[X] – Obtainable as A2. As the events of Chapter 11 play out, you will finally gain control of A2. Right as you gain control, cross the bridge and leave the area instead of helping 2B. Unfortunately there is no save point so you will need to play most of Chapter 11 again once this ending is obtained.
- Ending Y: head[Y] battle – Obtainable as 9S or A2. This is the only missable ending in the game. It is only missable because you can complete the side quest without letting Emil self-destruct, and the quest is not repeatable via Chapter Select. This is also the longest achievable ending in the game, as there are two major pre-requisites. First, you need to complete Emil’s Memories and fight Emil, as outlined in "Naughty Children." This is required for the final weapon in the game: Emil’s Head. Now, you must upgrade all 39 weapons to level 4 as outlined in "Inorganic Blade." Once your weapons are fully upgraded, Emil will give you a new quest: Emil’s Determination. He will mention that you’ve become super powerful (from upgrading your weapons) and will run off into the Desert Area. Follow him to discover a deep, dark secret buried under the sand. You will need to defeat this level 99 boss, which flies around similarly to the previous Desert Area boss early in the game. You should already be a high level from defeating Emil in the cave, and once more the higher level you are, the easier it is (I was level 96). Once the boss is defeated, Emil will start a self-destruct countdown of 10 seconds. For this ending, you must let Emil self-destruct, blowing up the entire planet. Congrats on obtaining the hardest ending in the game! If you are looking for this quest via Chapter Select, it is accessible as 9S in Chapter 6.
- Ending Z: over[Z]ealous – Obtainable as A2. During Chapter 14, Pascal will call out for help near the Resistance Camp. Head to his location and kill the machines attacking him. After he thanks you for the assist, murder Pascal in cold blood to obtain this ending.
