This is referring to Aya's Shooter attribute that allows you to do damage at range. I got the achievement by summoning Aya early and then letting her just fire at spawn points in the 2nd chapter on a mission where the main objective was "Destroy 12 enemies". I don't think her Awaken ability counts towards this achievement.
