How to unlock the Closure achievement in OCTOPATH TRAVELER - Definitive Guide
I followed a strategy that I found on reddit from user Anacra which I will copy/paste below with a couple notes and then list all my gear and skills. This allowed me to defeat the final boss on my first attempt:
"Party 1: (Optimised for Elem Atk)
Alfyn Scholar - Concoct BP/HP/Delay Turn/etc., then basic attack.
Tressa Runelord - Give Light Rune to party, then basic attack.
Ophilia Hunter - Summon NPC (Ogen), then basic attack. (Leghold if needed)
H'aanit Sorceror - Elem Break, Creature "Devourer of Dreams", then basic attack.
*Use Devourer when the 3 souls are summoned. This happens twice. Don't waste it when only 2 of the souls are summoned*
This party maximises damage via Runes. The passive skills include Surpassing Power, Elemental Aid, Augmented Elements and Second Serving. Use H'aanit's Creature "Devourer of Dreams" that can be captured from Everhold Tunnels dungeon, which will kill all Souls in one hit at max BP.
Party 2: (1 HP Fortitude Olberic Warmaster) *Bring Olberic into battle at 1hp. Keep using the revive skill when he dies so he stays at 1hp*
Cyrus Merchant - Donate BP to Olberic
Therion Cleric - Armor Corrosive on Enemy. Revive Olberic if needed.
Primrose Starseer - Divination on Olberic for guaranteed Crits.
Olberic Warmaster - Winnehild's Battle Cry
This party is basically to set up Olberic so he can unleash Warmaster's divine skill with a Fortitude build. This is also the recommended party to get through the 8 bosses before the final boss, which should all be doable in one or two turns at max."
*I defeated all the parts with 1 battle cry and then defeated the body with 1 more battle cry, just keep Olberic at 1hp and get off a fully boosted Battle Cry when able. My Olberic kept dying or getting BP debuffs but eventually I was able to line everything up and finally get some Battle Cry's off.

I'll try to answer as best I can. I haven't played since I completed it.
1 - Elemental break would be used on the boss for increased damage when you start to nuke him. If you're able to. I think I wasn't able to use it when I did it but if you're struggling for damage then this will help. You shouldn't need to use it on the souls.
2 - This will target everything. You can use it twice. You have to use H'aanit and capture Devourer of Dreams from Everhold Tunnels dungeon. It's a rare spawn. It will kill all the souls if you use it with fully boosted BP. So one soul will spawn at first, once you kill it then 2 souls will spawn, once you kill those then 3 souls will spawn. Then all 3 souls will spawn again. Use H'aanits creature skill to wipe out the 3 souls at once whenever this happens. Also, if you kill the boss and souls are still alive, you have to kill those also. They won't despawn when you kill the boss.
3 - I think I answered this in the second question. I believe they respawn 1, then 2 then all 3. And then all 3 at the end. Someone correct me if I'm wrong. I accidentally used the creature when only 2 of them spawned and then again when 3 spawned but had a pain dealing with them at the end when the 3 spawned again. I also don't know if killing them at the same time prevents them from respawning. The second set of 3 souls I did not kill at the same time. It was one by one and they didn't end up re-spawning.
EDIT - I found this from the wiki regarding the Devourer of Dreams: "How many times you can summon one after capturing it is randomized, so it is recommended to capture around one or two for safety." Wow, did not know that. Capturing 2 of these will make the first phase of the boss fight super easy for destroying the souls if you get 3 or 4 uses of the beast skill.
EDIT 2 - Also from the wiki regarding the souls: "In phase one, a Raging Soul is summoned before any actions can be taken. However, once that soul is defeated, two more will only be summoned on the eye's next action. Due to this, it is possible to break the eye and deal enough damage to skip when it summons two souls entirely, moving immediately to the phase where three souls are summoned."
Hopefully that helps. That's all I can remember. Good luck!

Great guide Jazz Apples, but I have a few questions for phase one of the final battle.
1/Who am I using the elemental break on?On the boss or the souls? And can you use it against all the enemies at once?
2/ Devourer of Dreams - do they only target one soul per use, or can you use them against all 3 souls at once, and if so, how?
3/ Am I right in thinking you have to kill all the souls at the same time, or they end up spawning back in to the fight?
Any other tips you can give would be great!
Thanks!

After completing all of the Chapter 4 stories with each character, you can take on the true final boss of the game. There are a few other requirements (namely a few side-quests which we'll be doing for another achievement anyway), so finish those up and then get ready for the final challenge of the game. Unfortunately, this requires that ALL characters be around Level 70+ which is frustrating since the majority of the game can be done with a primary group of four, simply subbing in for the required bench characters when doing their chapters. However, leveling is fairly simple while abusing the Dancer job. You can get bonuses of 2x/5x XP/JP fairly often, and if you're extremely lucky possibly even a 100x bonus. You can equip Captain's Badge and Badge of Friendship on your weaker characters to get them more XP, and have the Warbringer's passive skill to increas XP for the entire party equipped as well. See the video below for this method.
A more brute force method to leveling is simply repeating battles in the Forest of Purgation. Use your sorcerer to one-shot all these enemies for nearly 1-1.5k XP per battle, with chances to get Cait enemies for around 3.5k XP per battle. This should be almost as fast as the above method, and stays reliable the entire time which is nice.
Once you've gone through and leveled all your characters up, you can tackle the final dungeon. The walkthrough HERE has a very good rundown of this boss' abilities and phases, but after many failed attempts using their strategy, I searched around for additional help and found that it is missing a key step to make the souls in Phase 1 irrelevant. You will want to capture at least two copies of the Devourer of Dreams enemy using the Hunter class in the Everhold Tunnels. You must first defeat this enemy as the mini-boss of the dungeon and then it has a low chance to show up in random encounters. The great thing about this capture is that at MAX boost in battle, it will one-hit-kill any enemy aside from a boss. This means it will wipe out all of the souls every time they are renewed, allowing you to just continually break and damage the boss! What an absolute relief it was when I did the fight this way.
The second phase can simply be demolished with Oberic after that. You'll generally want him at 1HP and hope he doesn't act first in battle which will allow someone else to feed him a BP item, allowing him to use the Warmaster special attack. This should kill two of the three body pieces (usually the Blade survives), and your other characters can finish that off before the next turn. Continue to feed Olberic BP and after 2-3 more rounds the boss should be dead. For reference, my Olberic was Level 82 while every other character was low 70's.
