How to unlock the Untouchable achievement in Ori and the Will of the Wisps - Definitive Guide

Edit: This is no longer missable and can be done via Time Trial under Quick Access. Confirmed by users below in comments.

The fight is 3 phases. You don't need to be flawless. If you take damage just die and repeat that phase. You just have to avoid damage on the attempt where you complete that phase. This was confirmed by a user below. If you use the setup below along with Spirit Spike, you will one shot each phase on Easy or two shot each phase on Normal, leaving few if any attacks to even have to dodge.

A user in the comments has reported that if you do it via time trials you cant die to restart a phase like in story mode. I havent tested it myself but if so you will need to do the whole fight flawless if via quick access time trials. But with all the dmg boosts below that still shouldnt be super difficult.

1. 25% dmg boost seed quest - Starts at guy above first grey sludge room you reach in Silent Woods. Warp back and forth to talk to seed guy in town to get seed and plant it for dmg boost tree. Can be obtained before finishing Act 1.

2. 25% dmg boost tree - At entrance to Midnight Burrows, the hanging light flowers match the stones nearby to the left (high flower = tallest stone, etc). Bash off them without touching the ground to open Midnight Burrows or the tree to the right. Numbering the flowers 1 2 3 from left to right, the order is 1 2 1 3 3 2 1 to open the tree door, and 1 2 3 3 1 2 1 to open Midnight Burrows. Can be obtained before finishing Act 1.

3. Lifeforce shard (30% bonus damage when above half health ). This is in the northwest corner of Bauer's Reach and requires Burrow ability from Windswept Wastes to obtain. Can be obtained as soon as Act 2 starts.

Lifeforce Shard Location

4. Reckless shard (35% bonus damage when fully upgraded)

5. Spirit Surge shard (bonus damage based on your current Spirit Light up to a max of 6000)

6. Finesse shard (20% chance for 50% bonus damage)

With this setup even just swinging the spirit blade at its head will end each phase it before it has much of a chance to attack, but the spirit spike is definitely the way to go due to its burst damage output.

I also just got this in time trial from quick access after finishing the story on normal difficulty and I for sure took lots of damage, certainly in the first phase and also after the escape sequence. Maybe I did the final part after her scream without damage, but not even sure about that.
So I would recommend just completing it from time trial even if you take damage, maybe try to not get hit in the last phase after her screams, I guess 2-3 spikes should take care of that on normal difficulty.

If you take damage during either phase of the fight, just die and restart that phase. No need to restart the entire fight if you get hit during the second phase. Just had mine pop even though I died a few times in the second phase. All that matters is that you go damageless on the attempt you complete each phase.

I took a hit from a fireball during Mora's final phase and the achievement still popped for me so I am lucky that I did not immediately smash retry. Advice: consider finishing the fight. I got it via Quick Access on normal difficulty.

Finally got it on normal. One of those 'walk away and come back', did it reasonabl easily this morning.

Out of interest, if you were to do what you suggest, on a shardless easy speedrun would you get powerups by default through Quick Access then??
0

By NoHeroes94 on 23 Apr 2020 07:24
No but after you finish lightless and shardless speedrun you can reload the save file and get the powerups you need, then quit out and go to quick access.

Can't recommend doing this on Quick Access Normal Difficulty.
The attack does somewhere between 5% and 10% damage. Also if you take damage at any point you have to restart from the beginning.
It's probably a breeze on easy.

You have to equip the shard setup when you begin if doing via quick access IIRC.

Would just like to let people know that the achievement for 'Fending off Mora' will pop right after the battle, then a cutscene will take place, and after* the cutscene occurs will the untouchable achievement pop. It's the opposite with Kwolok. Either way wait for the cutscene to end.

Any idea if the latest patch fixed this? Playing on normal, through quick access. Have all shards set up. Even during the first phase, I need to hit Mora at least 4 times with a fully upgraded and charged Spirit Spike before the phase ends.

My two shot phase on normal might have had a lucky two shots trigger of Finesse (50% bonus dmg) or something. I'll test it and see if its more than 2. Did you get the two 25% dmg bonus trees in addition to the shards?

I did bring all seeds to Tuley in Wellspring Glades. It might be because I've tried through quick access.

Just did another playthrough on Easy to get Shardless, Lightless and Immortal and made a backup save just before the battle with Mora. Going to get everything set up on that save and see if I can beat her that way.

Thanks for helping!

Doing this through time trials negates the ability to die and repeat a phase.
You must do all phases at once

Great guide, but I did this yesterday on Normal with the setup you outlined and it probably took 5-6 shots per phase. I wonder if they updated the game so damage boosts don't stack the same as when you made the video? The only other difference I can think of is I only had ~2k spirit light during the fight so Spirit Surge wouldn't have been fully effective.

it probably took 5-6 shots per phase.
I had the same problem. I had 6k spirit light and everything at the max level, but the bow dealt more damage and faster, with those amulets that make it stronger. I did kill it pretty fast, in about one minute the job was done, but I don't know why it was better with the bow. I was in normal difficulty btw

I got the achievement even tho I took some damage during the fight because when I defeated Mora there were few spiderlings that died and dropped health giving me full health. So I guess you can take damage but you must have full health at the end of the fight. Maybe you can even use Regenerate?

IIRC if u take damage during phase 1 or 2 then die and redo the phase without taking dmg, it will pop. But taking damage and finishin fight without dying shouldnt pop it. Maybe a subsequent update since launch inadvertently made this pop too easily. /shrug

I really cannot be bothered to do this on Hard. I have a Hard playthrough that took me about 17-18 hours to 100%. I am guessing there is no way for me to attempt this achievement on Easy without doing a second playthrough?

You may check the quick access menu on that save file and see if you can do the fight on an easier difficulty from there. Not sure.

Annoyingly, in Time Trials you can't use the die to restart the stage clean trick; if you die the entire fight restarts.
So it may not be missable anymore but the Time Trial route requires a flawless fight (which I have not yet achieved)

Beat this in time trial on normal, using everything in the guide with the addition of the overflow shard. I healed fully off of the blue crystal, then killed Mora, and the achievement unlocked when I hit retry in the following screen. I attacked only with spike and just hit crystals to get more shots.

Worked great in time trial but I was overprepared with all damage boosts at max. I took her out too fast with Spike and got stuck in the first room by myself because she didn't have the chance to crack open the ceiling. The timer kept going so I had to restart.

I got this on normal time trial. Similar to others above, the achievement popped after I took damage on both boss phases. I did receive health right at the end from a spiderling, so not sure if that affected it. I recommend to keep playing even if damaged. One of the few achievements that has glitched in my favor.

I also equipped everything above and it took 5-6 hits per phase on normal, maybe an update caused the change.

I don't think its buggy+ anymore but it wasn't too bad to do on hard if you just hug the left wall and make sure you are holding it when the boss does the stomp attack. You can beat the fight in around 3 and a half minutes depending on your upgrades.

I did time trial, took damage in the first 2 sections but wanted to finish the fight so I knew what to expect for my next go, did the last section flawless and got the achievement. So worth carrying on in time trial if you take damage early on.

I'm finding this extremely difficult on Normal. I'm not finding it to be 2 hit kill, even with the above upgrades, and the enemies in the 1st phase are very difficult to dodge. The twice I've gotten to the last phase and I have been hit close to Mora's HP fully draining, try to die, but somehow Mora 'dies' and initates the cutscene anyway.

The issue is as well is by following the site WT walkthrough you're never going to end up doing an easy run collecting shards; your only run on easy is for the speedrun, no deaths + lightless, which wouldn't be compatible. I guess I'll just perservere and do better.

I will say, I just tried it in Time Trials and was getting frustrated that I would either take damage in Phase 1, or the final phase, but wanted to run it through once to learn it, and had the achievement pop after I for sure took damage in the final phase (I think Mora walked over me once quickly). Not sure if it's update-related but I'd recommend trying to go through the whole fight at least once to learn it, and you may just get lucky like I did!

This must be done during a playthrough, and cannot be attained via Quick Access. It is highly recommended that you copy/paste your save before the boss battle to allow for multiple attempts. This takes place in the Mouldwood Depths.

Recommended Difficulty: Easy
Recommend Abilities: Spirit Edge, Spike (upgraded), and Flash (Optional)

Grab +50% extra damage by grabbing the two ancestral trees, located at the entrance to the Midnight Burrows, and at the Wellglade Springs by planting a seed with Tuley.

Complete combat shrines to unlock additional shard slots. Upgrade them at vendor. Recommend Shards:
- Reckless: Take more damage, deal more damage
- Finesse: 20% chance to deal 50% bonus damage
- Lifeforce: Deal extra damage when over half life
- Overcharge: Reduce energy cost by 50%, increase damage taken by 100%
+ Whatever else you like (additional energy cells, movement, etc)
The fight itself isn't too bad, especially on easy difficulty. Keep your distance, and use the exploding spike over and over again, dodging the occasional attack. The fight takes 60-75 seconds on normal using this strategy.

It's also doable on hard with this shards setup.
In first phase use only spike.
In third phase at the beginning try redirect Mora's fire balls, if all fireballs hit her, she will very low on health and dark phase will begin.
Then I recommend to escape on left wall, it's very high, so Ori is almost untouchable and finish with few spikes.

I tried this challenge after I did the Immortal, Lightless, Shardless and Look at the time achievements on easy and I completed it in under a minute. I attempted this on my hard save but i wasn't able to get it so I suggest to do it on easy or normal but not on hard.

This is the equiment I used at the end of the game (you need at least 2.700SL to buy all shards and the spike weapon plus 6.000SL to maximize the Spirit Surge shard):
- I got the two optional +25% dmg tree boosts;
- I've done a Combat shrine to get an extra shard;
- Lifeforce shard (+30% bonus damage when above half life) - Total cost: 600SL;
- Spirit Surge shard (Spirit lights grants bonus damage. Caps at 6.000 spirit lights) - Total cost: 600SL;
- Finess shard (20% chance to deal 50% bonus damage) - Total cost: 350SL;
- Overcharged (Reduce energy costs by 50% and increase damage taken by 100%) - Total cost: 150SL;
- Spike at full upgrade - Total cost: 1.000SL.

I would say the "overcharged" shard is optional (and so the combat shrine) because you can kill each phase with 1 or 2 shoots but if are short on energy cells you might want it.

You can do it on quick access and as soon as I got a damage, I restarted the fight. Be careful at the end of the fight (25% or less of health), activate the flash power to avoid an instant death or try to hit it very fast.

*MISSABLE*

This is best attempted on Easy difficulty, but is still doable on Normal and even Hard difficulty. Ori's active ability Spike is recommended for this fight, which can be separated into 4 phases:

Phase 1: After dropping into the battle area, climb up the left wall to the top and wait for Mora to approach. She has a high chance to make either one slow smash, or two quick smashes. Jump and Dash in midair to the opposite direction, launch a Spike at her, and quickly climb up the right wall to repeat the above process until Mora is knocked down and destroyed the right wall.

Phase 2: The battle area is twice as large than before, but the core of the fight remains the same. Climb up either the left or right wall to the top, wait until Mora approaches and smashes, and then jump away to the opposite direction and fire one Spike at her. If Mora chooses to summon three spiderlings to assist her, focus on killing all the spiderlings first, because they can climb up walls and damage Ori.

Phase 3: A short chase sequence takes place when Mora is at half health. Use the trapped glowing moths to Bash upwards, climb up the hollow log, and Grapple the two blue lanterns into a second, smaller hollow log. This log will tilt when Mora exerts her weight on it and reveal the exit to the next area for the final phase of the fight.

Phase 4: Like phases 1 and 2, climbing up the left and right walls can help Ori avoid most of Mora's attacks, but if Mora does not approach for smash(es), attempt to Bash her projectiles back to her, which can deal considerable damage to her. At other times, continue to fire Spike at her. At low health, Mora will summon darkness, which can instant-kill Ori unless the active ability Flash is activated. Consider equipping the Spirit Shard Overcharge to reduce Energy consumption during this phase.

The achievement unlocks after Mora is defeated and returns to her normal state. Consult the following video should you have any trouble. All credit goes to its maker, Maka91Productions.

One of the simplest achievements.

Take and pump up the fragments to the maximum:
- Recklessness (deal and receive 35% damage)
- Wave of spirits (more damage when there are 6000 light)
- Art of combat (Chance to deal 50% damage is 20%) - although I passed with 10%

We buy and upgrade the Spike (to explosive).

We collect the Ki seed (quest in the Quiet Forest, we take a branch from the monkey Ki, take it to the farmer Tali, return to Ki, pick up the seed, give it to Tali, he plants it, a tree grows, from it we get the ability + 25% damage

We go down to the Sublunar holes, play the melody in reverse (by the bells: left, middle, left, right, right, middle, left), a passage opens to the tree, from it we also get the ability + 25% damage

Then everything is simple, we play on minimum difficulty. If you deftly press the buttons, then Mora, I apologize, won’t even have time to fart.
  • The first shot of the Thorn - Mora breaks the wall on the right, here, while she breaks it, we be sure to turn on the flashlight for the future
  • The second shot of the Thorn - Mora begins to wobble, the lanterns are thrown out, the race begins, quite easy, the main thing is not to run into thorns.
  • The third shot of the Thorn - Mora turns off the light, if you didn’t turn on the flashlight quickly - you’re screwed, but you turned it on in the first step, right? There is no point in shooting during the light-off animation; we just wait a couple of seconds.
  • The fourth shot of the Thorn - Mora is defeated, watch the video until the very end, after which we get the achievement.
PS If you wait a little, between the first and second steps Mora will release spiderlings, here you can immediately earn the achievement Damage Spike / Explosive Spike
