How to unlock the Untouchable achievement in Ori and the Will of the Wisps - Definitive Guide
Edit: This is no longer missable and can be done via Time Trial under Quick Access. Confirmed by users below in comments.
The fight is 3 phases. You don't need to be flawless. If you take damage just die and repeat that phase. You just have to avoid damage on the attempt where you complete that phase. This was confirmed by a user below. If you use the setup below along with Spirit Spike, you will one shot each phase on Easy or two shot each phase on Normal, leaving few if any attacks to even have to dodge.
A user in the comments has reported that if you do it via time trials you cant die to restart a phase like in story mode. I havent tested it myself but if so you will need to do the whole fight flawless if via quick access time trials. But with all the dmg boosts below that still shouldnt be super difficult.
1. 25% dmg boost seed quest - Starts at guy above first grey sludge room you reach in Silent Woods. Warp back and forth to talk to seed guy in town to get seed and plant it for dmg boost tree. Can be obtained before finishing Act 1.
2. 25% dmg boost tree - At entrance to Midnight Burrows, the hanging light flowers match the stones nearby to the left (high flower = tallest stone, etc). Bash off them without touching the ground to open Midnight Burrows or the tree to the right. Numbering the flowers 1 2 3 from left to right, the order is 1 2 1 3 3 2 1 to open the tree door, and 1 2 3 3 1 2 1 to open Midnight Burrows. Can be obtained before finishing Act 1.
3. Lifeforce shard (30% bonus damage when above half health ). This is in the northwest corner of Bauer's Reach and requires Burrow ability from Windswept Wastes to obtain. Can be obtained as soon as Act 2 starts.
Lifeforce Shard Location
4. Reckless shard (35% bonus damage when fully upgraded)
5. Spirit Surge shard (bonus damage based on your current Spirit Light up to a max of 6000)
6. Finesse shard (20% chance for 50% bonus damage)
With this setup even just swinging the spirit blade at its head will end each phase it before it has much of a chance to attack, but the spirit spike is definitely the way to go due to its burst damage output.
So I would recommend just completing it from time trial even if you take damage, maybe try to not get hit in the last phase after her screams, I guess 2-3 spikes should take care of that on normal difficulty.
Recommended Difficulty: Easy
Recommend Abilities: Spirit Edge, Spike (upgraded), and Flash (Optional)
Grab +50% extra damage by grabbing the two ancestral trees, located at the entrance to the Midnight Burrows, and at the Wellglade Springs by planting a seed with Tuley.
Complete combat shrines to unlock additional shard slots. Upgrade them at vendor. Recommend Shards:
- Reckless: Take more damage, deal more damage
- Finesse: 20% chance to deal 50% bonus damage
- Lifeforce: Deal extra damage when over half life
- Overcharge: Reduce energy cost by 50%, increase damage taken by 100%
+ Whatever else you like (additional energy cells, movement, etc)
This is the equiment I used at the end of the game (you need at least 2.700SL to buy all shards and the spike weapon plus 6.000SL to maximize the Spirit Surge shard):
- I got the two optional +25% dmg tree boosts;
- I've done a Combat shrine to get an extra shard;
- Lifeforce shard (+30% bonus damage when above half life) - Total cost: 600SL;
- Spirit Surge shard (Spirit lights grants bonus damage. Caps at 6.000 spirit lights) - Total cost: 600SL;
- Finess shard (20% chance to deal 50% bonus damage) - Total cost: 350SL;
- Overcharged (Reduce energy costs by 50% and increase damage taken by 100%) - Total cost: 150SL;
- Spike at full upgrade - Total cost: 1.000SL.
I would say the "overcharged" shard is optional (and so the combat shrine) because you can kill each phase with 1 or 2 shoots but if are short on energy cells you might want it.
You can do it on quick access and as soon as I got a damage, I restarted the fight. Be careful at the end of the fight (25% or less of health), activate the flash power to avoid an instant death or try to hit it very fast.
*MISSABLE*
This is best attempted on Easy difficulty, but is still doable on Normal and even Hard difficulty. Ori's active ability Spike is recommended for this fight, which can be separated into 4 phases:
Phase 1: After dropping into the battle area, climb up the left wall to the top and wait for Mora to approach. She has a high chance to make either one slow smash, or two quick smashes. Jump and Dash in midair to the opposite direction, launch a Spike at her, and quickly climb up the right wall to repeat the above process until Mora is knocked down and destroyed the right wall.
Phase 2: The battle area is twice as large than before, but the core of the fight remains the same. Climb up either the left or right wall to the top, wait until Mora approaches and smashes, and then jump away to the opposite direction and fire one Spike at her. If Mora chooses to summon three spiderlings to assist her, focus on killing all the spiderlings first, because they can climb up walls and damage Ori.
Phase 3: A short chase sequence takes place when Mora is at half health. Use the trapped glowing moths to Bash upwards, climb up the hollow log, and Grapple the two blue lanterns into a second, smaller hollow log. This log will tilt when Mora exerts her weight on it and reveal the exit to the next area for the final phase of the fight.
Phase 4: Like phases 1 and 2, climbing up the left and right walls can help Ori avoid most of Mora's attacks, but if Mora does not approach for smash(es), attempt to Bash her projectiles back to her, which can deal considerable damage to her. At other times, continue to fire Spike at her. At low health, Mora will summon darkness, which can instant-kill Ori unless the active ability Flash is activated. Consider equipping the Spirit Shard Overcharge to reduce Energy consumption during this phase.
The achievement unlocks after Mora is defeated and returns to her normal state. Consult the following video should you have any trouble. All credit goes to its maker, Maka91Productions.
Take and pump up the fragments to the maximum:
- Recklessness (deal and receive 35% damage)
- Wave of spirits (more damage when there are 6000 light)
- Art of combat (Chance to deal 50% damage is 20%) - although I passed with 10%
We buy and upgrade the Spike (to explosive).
We collect the Ki seed (quest in the Quiet Forest, we take a branch from the monkey Ki, take it to the farmer Tali, return to Ki, pick up the seed, give it to Tali, he plants it, a tree grows, from it we get the ability + 25% damage
We go down to the Sublunar holes, play the melody in reverse (by the bells: left, middle, left, right, right, middle, left), a passage opens to the tree, from it we also get the ability + 25% damage
Then everything is simple, we play on minimum difficulty. If you deftly press the buttons, then Mora, I apologize, won’t even have time to fart.
- The first shot of the Thorn - Mora breaks the wall on the right, here, while she breaks it, we be sure to turn on the flashlight for the future
- The second shot of the Thorn - Mora begins to wobble, the lanterns are thrown out, the race begins, quite easy, the main thing is not to run into thorns.
- The third shot of the Thorn - Mora turns off the light, if you didn’t turn on the flashlight quickly - you’re screwed, but you turned it on in the first step, right? There is no point in shooting during the light-off animation; we just wait a couple of seconds.
- The fourth shot of the Thorn - Mora is defeated, watch the video until the very end, after which we get the achievement.
