The Maid is the 3rd boss battle occurring during week/era 3. She appears on day 4 of the week and is your only option on day 7, just like all bosses.
A special note: some very difficult enemies start to appear during this week and at least one mission on Day 6 can spawn an enemy that you may not be able to kill yet, no matter what you do. Choosing to face The Maid early rather than showing up with heavily damaged (or freshly Germinated) Daughters may be the right choice for you.
Warning (Thank you uhKillswitch ) Many players are reporting it’s actually possible encounter a pretty significant bug during this battle. I think it’d be unlikely that this could occur for a first time player but I’m adding this first spoiler tag that suggests one thing you shouldn’t do. I don’t think it’ll do too much to spoil anything, but, regardless, it’s in the first set of spoiler tags.
If you have any Initiative Push memories attached to any skills, overwrite them before starting this battle. Using a skill, such as Shield Bearer’s Slam, that includes Initiative Push should be okay as it would take a large amount to trigger this bug. The upshot is, once The Maid drops below 10,000 life she must activate at least once.
Click the spoiler tag for details.
I’m going to suggest a very similar strategy for The Maid to the one I did for The Deacon, so if you haven’t read about the interactions between Shadow Round and Interrupting Round between multiple Soulslingers please check out my solution for that achievement so we can avoid a redundant wall of text:
The Maid is an Interruption/Reaction based boss. The thing to understand is that an Interruption can actually interrupt another Interruption, so let’s turn her strength into a liability for her, shall we?
The Maid actually has a ranged based Interrupt and a melee based interrupt so I’m going to suggest a Shield Bearer (with Blacksmith’s Grace and Saving Grace) and 3 Soulslingers (with Shadow Round) for this fight. Unlike The Deacon a melee based Daughter actually helps here.
If you don’t have the right Daughters with the right skills, Germinate new ones. You don’t get to keep any Memories or whatever if you lose so go nuts. As always sacrifice a new Blademaster to each new Daughter for the damage buff Trait.
While memories for The Deacon were optional but helpful, I believe having some to be required for The Maid, you really do need to strip off her armor buffs.
Put an armor debuff on all Shadow Round, I also added one to Slam, but Shadow Round will hit most often so it’s the priority. Shot should have a flat damage buff as should Lunge. Interrupting Round can be a % buff (Sever or Drill) or flat damage, whichever you have extras of. Blacksmith’s Grace should have your highest adds armor memory, 400 if you have it, 200 if you don’t. I also added an armor buff to Saving Grace but a Sever flat damage would also work.
When you are selecting Daughters for the mission make sure the Shield Bearer is in the first slot. She will spawn the furthest away.
The Maid will spawn in the corner like The Deacon and your Daughters will likewise be scattered, move your 3 Soulslingers up into their Burst range but not to maximum. Hover over your Shield Bearer and see where she should get to, get the Soulslingers along the bottom roughly even. The Maid steals life with area attacks so try and keep 2 empty squares between them. Your final Soulslingers to the right should get as close to The Maid as possible to be the target. Your Shield Bearer should get to switch spots with her immediately due to Saving Grace and then use Slams to position so you get Flank or Backstab.
ALWAYS put up Shadow Round, Interrupting Round and Blacksmith’s Grace every round and go into Burst every activation. Saving Grace is only strictly necessary the once to force the positioning and trigger an extra round of Shadow Rounds.
Use Slam over Lunge, you want as many attacks as possible to trigger Shadow Rounds, which will be peeling off her armor, hopefully at a clip of 240 per round of Shadow Rounds. Plus Slam affects facing.
You don’t have to move out of her AOE’s until she’s below 50%, you’ll DPS her down before they really hurt you. At 50% life her third phase use a little movement of your Soulslingers to move them out of her red zones into a clear and, hopefully, backstab area. You may take some damage but your Interrupting Rounds should be blocking most of her reaction attacks and triggering even more damage and armor stripping Shadow Rounds.
Below 10,000 health a cut scene plays and a Scythedancer appears in your party. The Maid will also knock your Shield Bearer back and do some work on her (aren’t you glad you had Blacksmith’s Grace up?). Keep doing what you’re doing, honestly she died before my Scythedancer activated the first time, but if you need, the Scythedancer does some nasty damage and armor stripping so go nuts if you need.
