How to unlock the Barely legit achievement in Pinball FX3 - Definitive Guide

There are nine Wizard powers/Passive Upgrades that you have to level up to lvl 10 on one individual table.

Not ever table has all nine Wizard powers/Passive Upgrades but it doesn't matter with this achievement. I unlocked it with the Paranormal table and it only has eight upgrades available.

Wizard Powers. (You have to select each power individually to level them up. You can only have one active at a time.)

Slow Motion (initially unlocks after reaching five stars in 1 ball challenge).

Score Boost (initially unlocks after reaching five stars in 5 minute challenge).

Rewind (initially unlocks after reaching five stars in Survival challenge).

To level these three up you have to hold cn_Y when on a table for a good second to register that they have been used. When you start you'll only be able to register one use per game but as you level up you'll be able to get multiple uses per game.

Pro-Tip from x Mataeus x,
"I'd like to add that you can easily grind the wizard powers by holding Y before you ever launch the ball, quit the game, and restart (choose not to continue your save) and do it again. Si.oly pausing and restarting won't work, because you lose the progress you've gained towards the next level up."

Passive Upgrades. (you can select two of these but you can level all of them up without them being active.)

Bumper Score Bonus - levels up as your ball hits bumpers.

Multiball Score Bonus - activate multiballs (different per table).

Skillshot Score Bonus - perform skill shots (when you fire a ball off with either the right analogue/cn_A, use less than 100% power (different per table, Paranormal was about 60%) and try and get the ball to go another route. Easy once you know what to do.)
Bing a guide on google (or use the link below) for the table you are using to find out about double/super skill shots that might also be available.

Combo Time Bonus - "Combo shots are a sequence of shots completed in rapid succession".

Distance Bonus - "Travel long distances with your ball to level up."

Ball Save Time Bonus - activate ball saves (different per table).

You can use the Rewind Wizard power to cheat a bit. Ball Saves was the last upgrade I needed and using the rewind to rewind before the light started flashing added one (or more if it's full upgraded) per activation.

I'd like to add that, at least on the Sorcerer's table, there's a Skillshot (minimum shot power), and a Super Skillshot for following it up by hitting it up a particular ramp, and both count towards the Skillshot Score Bonus.

I know its a different achievement but do you unlock the collectible one on your way to boosting the ranks?

Either way, thanks for the guide. Im also grinding this out on paranormal.

Everything you do to unlock this achievement helps you unlock the collectable one.

You need 142 mastery point (max you can get is 190) to unlock the paranormal collectable achievement. You'll only get 80 mastery points from upgrading. You'll also have to get all the stars in challenge mode. You can also earn points for popping table specific achievements and I think you get some for scoring high. When I finished this achievement I had 170 mastery points.

I suck at pinballs so anyone can do it.

An alternative way to rank up wizard powers is choose one ball challenge, plunge, hold Y, use it up and then tilt.

I did this on Epic Quest.

*Multiball can be started after one monster fight using the princess spinner

*Combos are easy to hit, bumpers are easy to hit

*You can get repeated chances at skill shots by hitting the SMASH target as much as possible; skillshot is identical every time.

*Finally, for a guaranteed ball save, hit the sword ramp five times to start SWARM. This not only gives you a ball save, but also another multiball to boot!

*You can hit from the sword ramp to the SMASH target to keep building the last two points above.

I maxed out all the upgrades and wizard powers on the Sorceler's Lair table... But achievement doesn't pop :/
Any help ?

Edit : eventually, the achievement popped 2/3 days later... I think it was just a syncing issue.

Some of the new tables only need 70 Upgrades. Williams Party Zone, Getaway, and Junk Yard.

Update: Williams Vol 3 added 3 tables that only need 60 Theatre Magic, The Champion Pub and SafeCracker.

You can do this on a table which is missing a certain upgrade category. For example, I did on Bethesda's Skyrim table which has no Combo category.
So, if there are only 8 upgrades available out of 9, you only have to do those 8.

There are 3 Wizard powers and 6 Passive Upgrades that you have to level up to lvl 10 on one individual table.

Wizard Powers: You have to select each power individually to level them up. You can only have one active at a time.

  • Slow Motion: unlocks after reaching level 5 in One Ball Challenge.
  • Score Boost: unlocks after reaching level 5 in Score Challenge.
  • Rewind: unlocks after reaching level 5 in Survival Challenge.

To level these three up, you have to hold when playing on a table for it to register that they have been used. When you start, you will only be able to register one use per game but will be able to get multiple uses per game as you level up. Make sure you drain balls and finish the game for it to count. Simply using it and quitting out will not allow the game to save and level up your powers.

Perk Upgrades: You can only activate two of these but you can level all of them up without them being active.

  • Bumper Score Bonus: Levels up as your ball hits bumpers.
  • Multiball Score Bonus: Levels up as you activate multiballs (different per table).
  • Skillshot Score Bonus: Levels up by performing skill shots (when you fire a ball off with either the right analogue or ). Many skill shots require using less than 100% power and is different per table. See the individual table’s in game table guide for more information.
  • Combo Time Bonus: Levels up by hitting Combo shots, which are shots up ramps completed in rapid succession, without holding (trapping) the ball or hitting obstacles.
  • Distance Bonus: Levels up by the ball travelling distances on the table. It will come naturally by playing.
  • Ball Save Time Bonus: Levels up with each activation of a ball save.

The game has passive and active perks, passive ones are pumped up simply by playing, active ones are pumped up by use. How to upgrade active ones faster, see the hint for the “ Level cap reached ” achievement. The maximum level of all parks is 10.
