How to unlock the Escape to the Surface achievement in Pinball FX3 - Definitive Guide
Note: This is a very difficult trophy to earn because in order to earn it, you must take this table to wizard mode and and then beat it. In order to get to wizard mode you must first beat the 6 Test Chambers. To get to a Test Chamber shoot the ball up to the center of the table and it will hit a switch. The Elevator will now visually come up in the center of the table. Shoot the ball up the center again to go in the elevator and start a Test Chamber. You can select what Test Chamber you want by pressing either your right or left flipper button then press to select the chamber you want.
Here are the following Test Chambers and how to defeat them.
Test Chamber 1: Advanced Portal Training
Step 1: Shoot 2 flashing lanes to create a portal
Step 2: Shoot elevator in the center to flip the switch
Step 3: Shoot the portal (just to the right of the left ramp). After you hit the portal the ball will teleport up to the top cross ramp and a cross ramp combo shot must be made with the top right flipper.
Step 4: Shoot the right orbit or left ramp which will be flashing this will carry the ball again up to another cross ramp combo shot that must be made with the top right flipper
Step 5: Shoot the elevator to complete and exit Test Chamber 1.
TEST CHAMBER 1
Test Chamber 2: Rat Man's Den
Note: There will be 4 flashing lanes of items, from left to right they are: A Jug | A Can | A Mug | A Milk Carton
Step 1: Shoot the flashing items in order. Look at the DMD to see the correct order to hit the 4 lanes
Step 2: After collecting all 4 items hit the middle target to take out a turret
Step 3: Repeat steps 1 & 2 to take out the second turret
Step 4: Repeat steps 1 & 2 again to complete the mission and exit Test Chamber 2.
Note: It will save progress if you take out the first turret drain and return the first turret will still be gone upon return.
TEST CHAMBER 2
Test Chamber 3: Thermal Discouragement Beam Training
Step 1: Shoot 2 flashing lanes to create a portal
Step 2: Shoot the elevator in the center to flip the switch
Step 3: Shoot the right orbit or left ramp which will be flashing this will carry the ball up to the cross ramp combo shot that must be made with the top right flipper
Step 4: Shoot 2 flashing lanes to create a portal
Step 5: Shoot cross ramp with upper yellow flipper (Shoot the ball into the ATLAS lane to get the ball to that flipper)
Step 6: Shoot the ball off of the tip of the right flipper into the sink hole on the left.
Step 7: Shoot 2 flashing lanes to create a portal
Step 8: Shoot the portal (just to the right of the left ramp). After you hit the portal the ball will teleport up to the top cross ramp and a cross ramp combo shot must be made with the top right flipper.
Step 9: Shoot the elevator to complete and exit Test Chamber 3.
TEST CHAMBER 3
Step 1: With a multiball going hit 2 flashing lanes to create a portal
Step 2: Repeat step 1
Step 3: Shoot the portal (just to the right of the left ramp). After you hit the portal the ball will teleport up to the top cross ramp and a cross ramp combo shot must be made with the top right flipper.
Step 4: Hit the bumpers 10 times to destroy a turret
Step 5: Repeat steps 1-4 again to destroy the second turret.
Step 6: Shoot the elevator to complete and exit Test Chamber 4.
Note: It will save progress if you take out the first turret (complete step 4). If you drain your multiball then start up the mission and return the first turret will still be gone upon return.
TEST CHAMBER 4
Test Chamber 5: Hard Light Bridge Training
Step 1: Shoot 2 flashing lanes to create a portal
Step 2: Collect crimson cube on the left ramp (ball will turn black)
Step 3: Deliver the cube by hitting the flashing lane
Step 4: Hit switch at center elevator
Step 5: Shoot the right orbit or left ramp which will be flashing this will carry the ball up to the cross ramp combo shot that must be made with the top right flipper
Step 6: Shoot 2 flashing lanes to create a portal
Step 7: Shoot 2 flashing lanes to create a portal
Step 8: Shoot the portal (just to the right of the left ramp). After you hit the portal the ball will teleport up to the top cross ramp and a cross ramp combo shot must be made with the top right flipper.
Step 9: Hit switch at center elevator
Step 10: Shoot the right orbit or left ramp which will be flashing this will carry the ball up to the cross ramp combo shot that must be made with the top right flipper
Step 11: Shoot the elevator to complete and exit Test Chamber 5.
TEST CHAMBER 5
Test Chamber 6: Excursion Funnel Training
Step 1: Shoot 2 flashing lanes to create a portal
Step 2: Shoot the elevator in the center to flip the switch
Step 3: Shoot 2 flashing lanes to create a portal
Step 4: Shoot the right orbit or left ramp which will be flashing this will carry the ball to the cross ramp combo shot that must be made with the top right flipper.
Step 5: Shoot the elevator to complete and exit Test Chamber 6.
TEST CHAMBER 6
Wizard Mode: Defeat GLaDOS
Note: Start wizard mode just like starting a regular Test Chamber. Also, keep in mind should you fail at defeating GLaDOS the table will reset and you will have to complete all 6 Test Chambers to try again.
PHASE 1: Destroy the Turrets within the time limit:
Step 1: Shoot 2 flashing lanes to create a portal
Step 2: Shoot the portal (just to the right of the left ramp). After you hit the portal the ball will teleport up to the top cross ramp and a cross ramp combo shot must be made with the top right flipper.
Step 3: Hit the bumpers 10 times to destroy a turret.
Step 4: Repeat steps 2 – 3 until all turrets are destroyed. Number of turrets (1-4)will vary depending on completing the Turret Factory mini-playfield side mission. (See Extra Balls Section in this guide)
PHASE 2: Use Bombs to Destroy GLaDOS:
Note: Phase 2 is not timed.
Step 5: Once turrets are gone hit the lock (portal lane) to turn the ball into a bomb
Step 6: Hit GLaDOS with the bomb by shooting the right orbit or left ramp which will be flashing this will carry the ball to the cross ramp combo shot that must be made with the top right flipper.
Step 7:Repeat steps 5 & 6 one more time. GLaDOS's health will now be at 50%, and she will disable the upper right flipper.
Step 8: Shoot two flashing lanes to create a portal
Step 9: Shoot the bomb ball into the portal to hit GLaDOS.
Step 10: Shoot the lock lane (where the portal was) to turn the ball into a bomb again
Step 11: Repeat step 9 to get the final hit on GLaDOS and defeat her to earn the very hard trophy "Escape to the Surface"
