How to unlock the Wealthy patron achievement in Pinball FX3 - Definitive Guide
Let's get to basics. Step One: Knock down the drop targets.
On the right side of the table, just to the left of the launch channel there are two drop targets that have to be hit. The left flipper can usually get the ball over there easily to hit them, but they also get rather easily knocked down as the ball bounces around the table. You know they are knocked down when the dollar sign ($) lights up in front of each one. Note that these targets will pop back up and need to be hit again if you ball out. Sometimes a multi-ball also causes these to pop back up afterward, so be aware of that.
Step Two: Activate the Sink Hole
Behind those two drop targets you just cleared is a lane that the ball must enter at high speed in order to get far enough to activate the sink hole near the top of the table. This is the most frustrating part of all. Trying to hit it with the left flipper is tricky, since flipping too soon sends you up one of the neighbouring ramps, and hitting too late tends to drive the ball into a bumper near the right flipper that throws the ball right back and into the ball out. I found that sometimes it's safer to try hitting it from the small upper-left flipper instead, since missing tends to be less costly. You will know you've activated the sink hole because you will see another flashing dollar sign around the top centre of the table.
Step Three: Enter the Sink Hole
This is typically the easiest of the three steps, since you just need to send the ball into the sink hole above the flashing dollar sign. Easiest to hit from the right flipper. This won't stay lit forever though, so get in there quick before it stops flashing or you'll have to go all the way back to Step One again.
Step Four: The Skill Shot
You will want to practice your skill shot every time you launch the ball, because getting this far and blowing the skill shot is really frustrating. To pull off a skill shot that delivers 500,000 or more points, use the right analog stick slowly to pull the plunger back until the tip is just visible above the first diagonal bar that crosses over the top of the ball launch. And I mean JUST visible. Hold it steady and then quickly release the stick. You should be able to easily pass the 500,000 mark and unlock the Achievement. Note that when practicing this skill shot on a normal ball launch, you will only get about 50,000 - 100,000 points. That's the sweet spot that is worth the required points once you're in Funding Hurry-up mode.
Good luck, and try not to break any controllers along the way.
Step 1: Shoot the 2 $ Targets
The first thing you have to do is hit the 2 targets on the right with the "$" sign on them. They are blocking the way to a path on the side of the table that leads to a sink hole under the mini playfield.
Step 2: Shoot the sink hole
Once you hit these targets you can then make a shot up to the sink hole. This is a tough shot to pull off consistently but it can be done from a caught position on the left flipper. You have to hit the ball when it’s quite close to falling off the flipper but will need to figure out the timing for yourself. When you get up the path and into the sink hole successfully you will hear "Hurry Up!" which means you have started funding hurry-up mode.
Step 3: Shoot another sink hole before the hurry up is less than $500,000
At this point you have to get the ball in another sink hole above the yellow dollar sign that is now lit up in the center of the table. I found this hole tough to hit consistently and there are a lot of bumpers up there that will cost you time if you miss. Time is important here because when you start hurry-up mode the funding start at 1 million and goes down by 10k every second. This means you have 50 seconds to secure at least 500k points for the trophy.
Step 4: Make a Skill Shot
Once you get the ball in this second sink hole, you then have to make a skill shot launching the ball. You may have noticed that when you launch the ball there are 3 holes it can fall into. The skill shot is the middle hole and requires the plunger to be at a little more than half power. If you miss the skill shot you, don't worry because you can try to get back into that second sink hole for another chance if you have enough time. If you run out of time, you will have to hit the drop targets and start all over again.
