How to unlock the Down in One! achievement in Quarrel - Definitive Guide

Edit: I thought this was clear from the achievement description, but I suppose it's worth saying. You earn this achievement by winning the Calimari Cove scenario in only one turn. You must take every enemy territory and complete the level without ending your turn. As with most of the achievements in this game, using an anagram solver online somewhere can greatly reduce the difficulty. I am writing this from the perspective of NOT using an anagram solver, though I certainly don't care if you use one.

This is tough, but it's doable. You might have to get a little lucky.

Starting positions and starting armies are exactly the same every time. Starting position may or may not be fixed, but most likely you'll be going last (4th). Try to get the anagrams when other players attack each other, each anagram gives you one Extra Backup and you want to have a few of those on your turn in order to make a lot of attacks. You'll also get an Extra Backup for each other player you eliminate, so try to knock out Dwayne and Caprice early on your turn, they should have already lost some battles to Malik.

Last game mechanic you need to remember about is "Star Army". When you get a streak of 3 or more connected victories on one turn, you get bonus treasure, which leads to Extra Backup.

You don't need to be perfect in order to win this; I almost got this in a game where I lost a battle to Caprice on the first turn. That actually made it easier to get Star Armies since there was more space between my territories.

You don't want them each to have one square left, you want them each to have no squares left. This achievement is for clearing the level entirely before you end your turn.

I had to complete it twice for the achievement to pop. I think I know why though. The first playthrough I beat every territory in the first round at the score summary screen I acquired the 'Omniscience' achievement.
The second time through I did exactly the same as the first, but this time the 'Down in One' achievement popped.
My guess is that this game you may be able to unlock only one achievement at a time at the score summary screen.

Great solution. Just want to add that turn order is random. The first time I tried this, I was on turn 3. The second, I was on turn 4.

I find it best to start on turn 4 because you could build up your backups by solving anagrams while the AI dish it out against each other. You could also help diminish their troops if they choose to attack you, and it won't count as using your "turn", which is essentially a free attack for you (if you're using a solver, obviously).

During my second attempt, I decided to go for "Four's a Crowd" too. By the time it reached me turn, I've about 8 backups from prisoners and anagrams. I then slowly cleared the squares in a clockwise direction against the depleted enemies, remembering to always press X to call for backup each time. When I got to three and more chained links, I earned more backups, which allowed me to always be able to call for backup whenever I attacked.

It was plain-sailing from here. Took everyone out during my turn and the achievement popped without any issues.

Really? Every single time I did any Dominate map in this game, I went last. Every single Showdown, I went first. I'll make a note though.

Just wanted to clarify that you need to wipe out the board on your first turn or possibly without taking any territories in your first turn if you wish to get the achievement in a later turn. In my first attempt it took me two turns, but on the second turn I did take out each opponent yet did not get the achievement. On my second attempt I wiped the board in the first turn and did get the achievement.

This is really just a long explanation for the cheevo & doesn't help anyone get the cheevo. Solutions should direct us straight through the cheevo.

Building the anagrams army is key and makes it pretty simple. To be clear, you need to take out all of the territories you don't start with in single round. Probably easiest by doing this on round one.

Also, you may not necessarily face all three enemies. Malik beat one of the enemies before I even got opportunity to battle. I still got achievement through obtaining each territory in one round

There is an app called "anagram solver" available for the WP7, to save having to use a laptop or PC when trying this.

You start with 3 territories. Lose the two with the lowest point score and solve all the anagrams, when the other players are fighting = back up.

Make sure all players are still in the game and that you have at least a 7 point territory. Normally this will be at the start of your first turn.

Then, using an anagram solver, work your way around the board in one turn, conquering one territory after the other. Use your back up each fight round, so you always have 8 words and solve the anagram, so you always have the highest point score and never run out of back ups.

When you have defeated the last territory the achievement will pop.

This is the 3rd Domination map. Much like the Trailblazing challenges, you must take down the 3 other players in a single turn. Utilize anagram possibilities as the other players fight each other to give yourself Extras and allow you to sustain the captures during your turn. After defeating your opponents the achievement will unlock at the end of the match.

Some tips: Make sure to fill out the anagram whenever it's not your turn. Whenever you get challenged before your turn rolls around, make sure to call for any backup you have so you have as many letters as you can per territory when your turn starts. Finally, don't be like me and forget that if you reinforce a territory from an adjacent one, both territories become unusable!
