How to unlock the Had It All Along! achievement in Reckless Racing Ultimate - Definitive Guide

I got it on Single Event with difficulty set to zero. I don't remember my time, but it has to be, for exemple:

You: First with 1:50:38
IA: Second with 1:50:38, too.

On the other hand, if you do for example:

You: First with 1:50:38
IA: Second with 1:50:39

These times do not ensure that you win by one hundredth of a second. It depends on what were the thousandths of a second if the game would show them.

With a few tries you got this cheevo. Sorry for my English, I'm Spanish.

{Important Stuff}
As xX R3V1V4L Xx points out you must actually finish with the same time as someone else in a race and not 1/100th second apart, but less.
I would recommend doing this in either Single Event or Arcade. Doing it in Single Event will allow you to select the car and track, but you won't earn any $$ (but you may be working toward the 150 events completed achievement) while Arcade will let you have the same scenario each time (however I cannot confirm that it will unlock in Arcade).

As for track, I would recommend Indie Raceway - Test Run with the Spectro Castora. I was at 80 difficulty with a PI of 452 on the car.

My preferred method was to drive 2 1/2 laps and slow down at the last turn and wait for the 2nd place car to get near at which point I would drive just behind him on the inside and try to keep as even as possible until the finish line (braking at the last minute if necessary).

I finished with the same time but in 2nd over two dozen times before I actually got in first, and completed well over 75 events, so be prepared for this to take you along time.
{/Important Stuff}

{History}While working through the arcade challenges I get through all the laps and then wait at the finish line, taking off as soon as I see the 2nd place opponent getting near the line. The closest I've gotten is 8 hundreths of a second, but I feel this is the best way at the time while still working towards other things.

The Tropics - Lonely Path (Arcade 30) is one of the shortest races for repeated attempts and I find a difficulty of 40 makes the race easy enough to not try, but you won't be waiting around forever at the finish line. (I've gotten to 3 hundredths using this one).

This would of course be more precise if you were to do the same race with same opponents over and over again.

Edit: I just finished an Arcade race with a time of 01:58.31 and 2nd place at 01:58.32; therefore I won by 1/100 second, however I the achievement didn't pop.

Either arcade mode doesn't work for this achievement, it is glitched, or that is not the requirement for the achievement. If someone could confirm it would be appreciated. (Did it on Arcade 33, difficulty ~40, just rode beside the competition and edged him out at the end).

Edit 2: Completed the terms of the achievement in single event, arcade, and career on various difficulties without the achievement unlocking. The only other variable I can think of is that the difficulty must be at max. Have completed a single event on highest difficulty and it didn't unlock.{/History}

The times you got of 01:58.31 and 01:58.32 probably had a difference of more than 100th of second.

For example lets say :

01:58.31 was in fact 01:58.310

and that

01:58.32 was in fact 01:58.329

That leaves a difference of 0.019 which is closer to one 50th of a second, although with the data given, i.e. only 2 decimals it obviously only looks like a 0.01.

That said really the achievement should pop even if there is that difference in time as you cannot see the 1000th's of a second.

I got this on my first try, and got it while aiming for it too...

Do this on a Single Event on Indie Raceway on Test Run, using any vehicle you're happy with, and do the laps keeping in line with the fastest AI car.
As you come onto the 3rd lap make sure you're as close to side-by-side as possible, and then on the last straight make sure you're exactly together - as long as you drive over the line with the vehicles EXACTLY side-by-side then it'll pop without problem.

When you cross the line your times should be exactly the same, not different or it might not pop.
