How to unlock the Pedal to the Metal achievement in Resident Evil Revelations 2 - Definitive Guide

This is a playthrough of Countdown Mode on Episode 3 of Resident Evil: Revelations 2. For Claire's half I think it's all about balancing killing enemies to gain time with saving ammo. There are a few spots (like the big fire guy in the slaughterhouse) where I could have killed enemies to gain more time and make my life a little easier, but I prioritized saving ammo for the boss fight at the end. You can forget saving ammo in the end though, because you won't need much to get through Episode 4, so spend everything you need to on the boss.

For Barry's half I cut it very close at the end and did not leave myself in a very good position on the last section. Make sure that you take note of that and try to build up a few more seconds of buffer time before you hit the checkpoint after going up the lift. It can be done with only a little time left though, as you can see! :)

great guide. one thing I would like to add is that the timer max is 2:59 I almost f'd myself on the boos got a gold hourglass before the fight thinking I could get a bunch stacked. then at the start of the boss fight I had 2:25 got the gold hourglass on the ground floor timer went up to 2:59 just to help those with little time left.

@BLUNT CHEMIST Yes that is definitely something good to remember! The blue hourglasses add time, but the golden ones reset the timer to 2:59. So no matter how much time you have left, they will always set your timer to 2:59.

Thank you dormouse I've been you tubing your guides Sam yarbrough jr . You commented back a few weeks on one of your vids. I was up till 3:18 am last nite with the very glitchy cutting edge achievement. Had 3 runs and no pop. I said wtf, and had a hunch it was a follow up attack in Barry's part in the begining. It was. Still makes no sense to me that achievement.

I said it before but nevertheless: Thank you so much for these excellent guides of yours! I don't think I could have done it without them :-).

Just wanted to add a few valuable tips I found that wasn't in the video....

1) You CAN shoot the first meat hanging in the slaughter house over the grinder BEFORE YOU EVEN HAVE MOIRA TURN ON THE SWITCH!!!! Because the grinder is already on, and it saves you a buttload of time!!! Reason is because when you flip the switch, you will NEVER be fast enough to switch to Claire to shoot the meat before it moves, trust me, it works every time!!

2) Shooting the big fireguy in the sewers in the face with the magnum (3 or 4 rounds) gives you a cool 60 seconds!!! (He's blocking the stairs to the door Moira needs to pry open)

3) After you use the switch to lower the gate/bridge, after you jump the gap, in the next room, there is a blue hourglass kinda hidden in the left corner of the room, to the left of the "slope" you go up (you can see and shoot the top of it)...to better explain its location, once you go up the slope, you will see a hole you can crouch under on your left, thats where it is

For Barry's episode.......My record was exactly 24 minutes, and I redid it 3 times to make sure my tips were valid. What made my run so damn easy was my little secret, 2 smoke bottles and 1 decoy bottle!!

1) At the beginning when you are walking with Naty, after you grab the cloth, MAKE SURE you grab the odorous chemical in front of you to the right, just before you have to turn. After you drop off Naty, kill the two zombies, then throw a bottle at the 3 coming around from the right. Open the door, hit the hourglass, and you can just RUN all the way to the dead old man's room!!! Make sure you grab the bottle here. (If you forget, thats ok, there are 3 bottles on the way you need to go in the mine.)

2) In the sewer, where you have to shoot the first sawhorse for Naty to continue, very important!!! Make sure you grab the Smoke Chemical next to the gunpowder!!!

3) Later in the sewer, after you go through the hole in the wall with pipes, open the last numbered sluice gate (#1), but don't switch to Barry yet!!! As Naty, run to drop that fuel tank that was shown in the video.....switch to Barry, shoot the blue hourglass, then run up to the very last gate and turn around, once the screen starts getting blurry, shoot the fuel tank!! Turn left and shoot the zombie coming at you, then turn left again, and do a head-shot on the the 2 motionless zombies. You will get a LOT of time because you should have killed all but 1 enemy with the tank!!! Switch back to Naty, have her open the gate, then haul butt outta there!!!

4) After you jump though the window of the very first building in the mining area, make SURE you grab the Smoke Chemical from the middle locker!!

5) Before you enter the building for the generator, Look for the bottle on the left side of the building. For the first fight with the Dhurlga, wait on the left side of the "pile", when he makes a step or two towards you, use a smoke bottle, sneak around the right behind him, do a stealth attack, then shoot him twice while he is on the ground with the magnum....game over!

6) Two more bottle locations if you want or need them, if you followed the guide you should only need one. First is after Naty crawls through the hole in the fence to help open the gate, look to the right, its right on the ground. Second is in the building with the Revenent with the door locked from the inside, its on the window sill on the second floor right where you put the generator on the conveyor belt.

7) At the end, after the elevator ride run to where the stairs are, you should have about 14 seconds left or more, don't panic!!!! You can sneak and go wide left to get behind the 2 revenents for easy sneak kills! Run and grab the generator, drop it the second you get the cut-scene with the Dhurlga. Run to where the blob throwing guy is and use the decoy bottle. Immediately throw a smoke bottle at the front of the Dhurlga. sneak behind him and finish him off easy with the magnum. there will be the last revenent blinded by the smoke, easy sneak kill!! Now just finish the chapter, easy peezie!!

It's best to kill Neil with Claire i.s.o. Moira in this chaper. This will result in the bad ending. However the final Boss fight in chapter 4, will only be the first part, because of this. So you don't have to kill Wesker from the helicopter.

@NeonCthulhuCult No problem! Glad that you finally got your achievement! That one can be a bit finicky. They are really good at wanting to do follow up attacks, but if you hold down RT instead of tapping it it won't do that.

Claire's campaign was naturally easy except when you get to the final boss because he is a runner and it takes a lot of effort to reveal his weak spot. One tip that I have is that wait until your running dangerously low on time to shoot the clocks because it seems to refill it back to 2:59 BUT you can't stack them. Also the ending to Clair's campaign is restricted from recording so that is why it just cuts off.

Also with Barry's story you don't have to fight the final boss you can just stroll pass him (it's dangerous though) and place the battery.
