How to unlock the Starsenal achievement in Resident Evil - Definitive Guide

You must be in possession of all types of weapons in the game either in a saved file or in a current game. The achievement will pop when you take the final one.

All play-throughs after your first should be started using "Once Again". If for some reason you beat the game but are not seeing "Once Again," load a cleared game file and it will appear again. However, people are claiming the game records progress across multiple files. For simplicity's sake, I suggest a single file but no need to panic and redo it if you have two files either.

If you have any specific questions about where these can be obtained check this great map out. It is a true marvel for any RE fan. Otherwise, most of these should come pretty easy.
http://www.evilresource.com/resident-evil-remake/maps/mansio...

You must save your game at some point after finding them. This is true except for the last one you find. Check progress at: https://www.residentevil.net/. For example, if you find the .44 as Jill but die afterwords, and then you come back and do not pick it up again to complete the game, it will not count.

1.1 Shotgun- Found downstairs mansion east wing.
1.2 Broken shotgun- This is most likely not needed for the achievement but as Chris it is definitely needed to get the Shotgun. It is mentioned here only to distinguish between the two different items.
2. Grenade Launcher - Jill only. Found upstairs in the mansion. Combine all three types; grenade acid, flame, grenade. The acid and flame rounds are given to you by Barry or found throughout the campaign.
3. Richard's Combat Shotgun

4. .357 Magnum
5. 22 Derringer (Self-defense/suicide pistol ) SUPER POWERFUL: worth 5 magnum rounds but only one shot. Found in the residence area inside the room 001 with the hanging man.
6.1 Flame Thrower - Chris only. This is found in the courtyard basement before fighting a certain 8 legged, large boss. Check the walls of the previous cave for one. You can only use it in this area because removing it from the wall also locks the door behind you.
6.2 Broken flamethrower- this is story related and probably not needed for this achievement but it is mentioned only to distinguish the two as different items.
7. .44 Magnum

8. Mark 1 Rocket Launcher

BONUS WEAPONS - needed
1. Samurai Edge (Infinite Ammo) Beat the game in under 5 hours on normal or hard
2. Rocket Launcher (Infinite Ammo) Beat the game in under 3 hours on normal or hard (both weapons will unlock)

SELF DEFENSE WEAPONS- not needed

1. Flash Bang Grenade (Chris only)
2. Dagger
3. Stun Gun (Jill only)

You can check the progress of this by syncing your account with residentevil.net. The weird thing about their count is that the Samurai pistol does not count. I guess technically it is only a modification of your pistol. In any case, both of the rocket launchers are listed. The broken items are not listed nor are the defense items. I listed those only for the purpose of completion. They are easy to find and are probably not needed for the achievement but if for some reason it does not unlock, make sure you have the broken shotgun and have collected the defense weapons.

Does anyone know if I can complete the game in under 3 hrs for rocket launcher then use the launcher throughout real survival play through?

I did my hard run as a speed run. I probably just forgot to claim the flame rounds but the fizz scene never happened. Instead, I got Barry to appear with Kenneth and the grenade launcher. Being in a hurry I skipped the scene. Cool.

Well, yes. I added some info in the guide.

Wait so you have to have all the possible weapons for each character at once in one playthrough? I swear ive had just about all of these at one point in my possession. Also for Jill does that mean you have to take Berry's gun and save Chris to get the rocket launcher to obtain the achievement?

I made the NEW GAME mistake once and finished with Chris in 3.07h. I picked ONCE AGAIN and the bonus weapon is not showing up in my inventory. What am I doing wrong? O.o

Hmmmmmm..... Hopefully you saved the clear data file separately. Try loading that first and then do Once Again. The bonus weapons will be in your immediate inventory. The infinite 3x pistol has an infinity symbol instead of a number.

But 3:07,....that was close.

Awwww thats lame you have to get the bonus weapons, im going to have to do an annoying run-through :/ I was hoping I wouldn't have to get the bonus weapons because I failed Normal and Hard under 3 hours, on Normal I didn't know pausing didn't stop the timer, on Hard I fell short 20 minutes because I wasted too much time in the beginning....

You should add more information to the flame thrower. I missed it because when I read "story related" I thought you meant it was unmissable, but thats not the case. Look at the Xbox 360 version solution for the achievement, you should have that same info here

if i play the speed run on very easy and complete the game in less than 3 hours....i will not get the infinite ammo rocket launcher....is this correct....???....im almost finished my speed run on very easy.....will i have to go back now again and do another play through this time on normal to get rocket launcher with unlimited ammo....???? this game is really bad for getting all 1000 gamerscore

That is correct. You will only get the rocket launcher from normal or hard run of under 3 hours.

Yeah, you gotta earn this one.

Otherwise a brilliant guide!

Alright, in all seriousness I did attempt to correct this when you posted the comment Smoky. I must not have hit save or something. I am sure I did the same thing years ago too when it was noticed then. I agree 100% with the ineffective use of time to comment rather than take action.

Samurai Edge and Rocket Launcher~~~Those are bonus weapons and not campaign weapons. The needed weapons are all found in the game and NOT obtained for completing under special conditions.

5. Grenade Launcher - Jill only. Found upstairs in the mansion. Combine all three types; grenade acid, flame, grenade. In hard mode, only grenade is available.

that hard mode thing is a completely incorrect. you can get acid rounds from the fizz cutscene in the main dining hall and I found incendiary rounds on the floor in Laboratory B3 save + item box room.

Oh no, not for each character but you have to get their exclusive weapons grenade launcher/flame thrower. So if you got the magnum as Chris you do not HAVE to get it as Jill. There really are just the 11 campaign weapons and the 2 bonus weapons. You do not have to play through the whole way after taking Barry's gun. You can take the gun, save on a different file and then go back and not take Barry's gun. You can always check your progress by syncing your account with https://www.residentevil.net/.

I got the bonus weapons before playing as Chris. I thought I had everything too. But the last weapon I got was Barry's 44. I thankfully had a save leftover as Jill right where that scene happened. After unlocking the achievement, I quit. So the weird thing now is that residentevil.net does not show my .44.

Another thing that I did not think about was the fact that this probably should be done with a play-through on Once Again. Hopefully you are not ever just starting a new game.

Yes , you can use the rocket launcher as long as you are using the save file you create after beating the game (unlocking the launcher) and every time you load that file you also will have the “once again” mode displayed , in case you wonder why it disappears when you load the game

Here are all the weapons and how to get them.

Handgun and Survival Knife - Both Jill and Chris start with it.

Shotgun - Acquired from a room on the east side of the mansion.

Automatic Shotgun - Jill only; save Richard with the Serum and fight Yawn in the attic. He'll drop it after he's killed by Yawn.

Flamethrower - Chris only; In the caves the flamethrower will be on a panel that's impossible to miss.

Grenade Launcher - Jill only: On the east side of the mansion second floor is a locked door with the grenade launcher. Be sure to load all three grenade types for this to count.

Rocket Launcher - Must be used to defeat Tyrant at the end provided you saved Barry or Rebecca.

Infinite Rocket Launcher - Beat the game in under 3 hours on NORMAL or HARD only.

Self Defense Gun - On a table in one of the rooms in the residence. Hard to miss.

Barry's Magnum - Don't give Barry back his gun as Jill during the Lisa boss battle.

Magnum - Acquire the wind crest from the tiger with blue gemstone puzzle and use it in the courtyard where you head to Lisa's cabin.

Samurai Edge - Beat the game in under 5 hours on NORMAL or HARD only.

Chris can get the Automatic Shotgun if he saves Richard. After Richard is and you drain the water, it's located near the smaller shark flopping at the bottom of the tank.

The Automatic Shotgun is actually called Assault Shotgun.

Also, do the weapons need to be fired at all or just owned?

@Mayadome Thank you for the super guide!

I would like to note that it IS possible to get the Assault/Automatic Shotgun as Chris. As Richard is eaten by Mother Neptune, he will drop his weapon. Once you drain the tank and go down into it, it'll be near the first smaller shark that you see.

Also, the Wind Crest is acquired by completing the bee puzzle in the Researcher's Study, not the tiger puzzle. The tiger puzzle gives you shotgun shells for the blue stone and an MO disk for the yellow stone. BE CAREFUL not to put the red stone in the tiger's eye or you will spring a trap!

This trophy requires you to play as Chris and Jill since each character has a weapon or two the other cannot obtain. Only Chris can obtain the Flamethrower, while only Jill can obtain the Grenade Launcher as well as Barry’s .44 Magnum. All other weapons can be obtained by either character; you’ll also need to obtain the special weapons for beating the game quickly. Be sure you play both characters via the “Once again…” option to ensure you earn credit for their specific weapon.

Weapon List

Combat Knife
Chris has at beginning of game.

Survival Knife
Jill has at beginning of game.
Also found in Black Tiger’s Lair.

Handgun (Mansion)
Jill’s handgun that Chris picks up in the Mansion Foyer.
Jill has at beginning of game.

Shotgun (Mansion)
Chris has to unlock a side room on the west side of the mansion using a mansion key. Collect the Broken Shotgun in that room and place it on the pressure switch in the Shotgun room in the east side of the mansion.

Jill can use her lockpicks to open the same room and perform the same task. An alternative route is to get the Shotgun and have Barry rescue you from the trap. The caveat to this is, you cannot encounter Barry anywhere else before this room; if you do, he won’t be there to rescue you.

Assault Shotgun (Mansion or Residence)
Chris has to save Richard by retrieving the Serum fast enough; once he’s saved continue on with the game. When you reach the Shark Tank in the Residence Aqua Ring, Richard will sacrifice himself to save Chris. Continue further into the tank and you’ll be able to pick up the Assault Shotgun after draining the water to the Shark Tank.

Jill has to save Richard by retrieving the Serum fast enough; once he’s saved continue on with the game. When you enter the Attic (Shield Key) you will be attacked by Yawn, and Richard will come in to join the battle. After taking enough damage Yawn will eat Richard and you will be able to pick up the Assault Shotgun. If you leave the room before Richard is eaten, Richard will die and you will be unable to pick up the weapon.

Grenade Launcher (Mansion) – Jill Only
After getting the Armor Key, you’ll be able to open a door on the Second Floor of the East Side of the Mansion Foyer. This room is an outdoor deck where Forest Speyer died and is still clutching his weapon. You can pick the weapon up from his body. The Grenade Launcher comes loaded with Grenade Rounds, you’ll have to find Flame Rounds and Acid Rounds throughout the game and load them in for credit towards the trophy.

WARNING: If you go further into the area, Forest will revive and attack.

.357 Magnum (Graveyard) – Method for Both Characters
After getting the Armor Key, you’ll be able to open a door on the Second Floor of the East Side of the Mansion. Inside this room is a puzzle where you have to set a lure and a bee in specific areas and push a button. Once that is done you’ll have access to the Wind Stone. With the Wind Stone head to the graveyard between the Mansion and hut where you get the Crank. There are two big grave markers here, use the Wind Stone on the one on the right. Grab the three markers, examine the backside and push the switches on all three. Now use the markers on the grave marker on the left to get the .357 Magnum.

Self Defense Gun (Residence) – Method for Both Characters
After reaching the Residence you’ll eventually be able to enter Dormitory 001; you’ll need to get an item from the bathtub. However in the room itself is a zombie hanging from the rafters. Check the desk to acquire this weapon.

Flamethrower (Caves) – Chris Only
Upon reaching the caves as Chris, you’ll find this weapon on a pressure switch outside of the Black Tiger Boss room. Simply pick it up and use it as you see fit, but keep in mind to progress you’ll have to set it back on a pressure switch. This will still count as credit for obtaining it. The weapon is simply not there when playing as Jill.

Barry’s .44 Magnum (Laboratory) – Jill Only
After obtaining two Metal and Stone Objects, you’ll go into another underground area where you encounter Barry. Jill disarms him and takes his gun before Lisa Trevor shows up and Barry asks for his gun back. Refuse to give his weapon back and you’ll be able to pick it up after Lisa dispatches Barry.

WARNING: It is impossible to earn I’m a Member of S.T.A.R.S. when acquiring this weapon.

Rocket Launcher (Laboratory) – Method for Both Characters
The Rocket Launcher is obtained only during the second boss fight with the Tyrant. You must either do enough damage to the Tyrant or wait till the countdown timer is at 30 seconds and Brad will throw it down onto the Helipad for you; use it to kill the Tyrant. This weapon is not possible to get if you didn’t save Rebecca as Chris or Barry as Jill.

Samurai Edge (Post Game) – Method for Both Characters
The Samurai Edge is obtained by clearing the game on Normal or Hard difficulty and doing so within 5 hours from start to finish. If successful, you’ll receive the notification after your final stats screen. This weapon will start in your characters inventory when playing the “Once again…” scenario.

Infinite Rocket Launcher (Post Game) – Method for Both Characters
The Infinite Rocket Launcher is obtained by clearing the game on Normal or Hard difficulty and doing so within 3 hours from start to finish. If successful, you’ll receive the notification after your final stats screen. This weapon will start in your characters inventory when playing the “Once again…” scenario.

Based on the link below, these are all the guns required for the achievement.

https://www.residentevil.net/one/en/...0.html?ref=one...

  1. Handgun
  2. Shotgun
  3. Assault Shotgun
  4. Grenade Launcher
    • Explosive Rounds (loaded into GL)
    • Acid Rounds (loaded into GL)
    • Incendiary Rounds (loaded into GL)
  5. Self-Defense Gun
  6. Magnum Revolver
  7. Barry's 44. Magnum
  8. Flamethrower
  9. Rocket Launcher (Endgame)
  10. Rocket Launcher (Infinite Ammo, 3-hour run Normal+)
  11. Samurai Edge (Infinite Ammo, 5-hour run Normal+)

Here are detailed descriptions of each weapon's location and how to obtain them.

Handgun - Immediately in Jill's Inventory, picked up in Main Hall by Chris after returning from the dining room.

Shotgun - Located on the East Wing of the first floor in the Mansion. On the north-east area, there is a corridor that leads to a bathroom, the Ceiling-Trap Room (and Shotgun room) and entrances to the lobby outside Spencer's office as well as the Cerberus Corridor (and a door leading outside to pick up the Chemical).
In order to obtain the Shotgun, you need to have the Broken Shotgun which is located on the West Wing of the first floor near the save room in this area. In order to get into that room, you simply need to unlock it with your lockpick (Jill) or use a Small Key (Chris), with one being easily found in the bathroom on the East Wing.
Swap the broken shotgun for the working one to obtain the weapon.

Note: For Jill, you can avoid going for the broken shotgun if you access this room BEFORE you encounter Barry in the main hall for the Acid Rounds. To do this easiest, obtain the sword key and immediately head back to the main hall, going through the door on the right of the first floor bringing you into the gallery. Run to the door leading to the Cerberus Corridor and make your way to the shotgun room (because you entered from this direction, the Cerberus' will NOT break through the windows at all this run through). After you grab the shotgun, head back into the Ceiling Trap Room and try the door leading out to the hallway. Turn around and try the door back to the shotgun room. If both are confirmed locked, the scene will start. If you head back inside, then you cannot get the shotgun this way (due to either having accessed the Acid Rounds scene or something else). You can still get the acid round scene, exiting back to the Main Hall from either the first or second floor on this wing of the mansion. Warning: You will not be able to return to the shotgun room at all using this method, so if you want the Ink Ribbons and Dagger make sure to grab them while you're there.

Grenade Launcher (JILL ONLY!) - After obtaining the armor Key, return to the Main Hall's second floor. The door on the bottom right of the map leads outside to a balcony where you will discover the body of Forest Speyer, with the Grenade Launcher perched next to him. It is possible (I forget the exact requirements) that Barry will be here, handing you the grenade launcher anyways. The only benefit to this other than an optional scene is that if you head off to pick up the green herbs on the far right walkway, Forest will not get up to attack you. Anyways, you can just grab the grenade launcher and leave without any fight if you ignore the right walkway.

Grenade Launcher Ammo Types (all must be loaded into the launcher):

Explosive Rounds (Grenade Launcher) - Already inside of the grenade launcher. You'll likely come across more, so whether or not loading more rounds into the thing is "required" you'll probably be changing ammo later anyways.

Acid Rounds (Grenade Launcher) - Found in a few locations throughout the game, lesser on higher difficulties. Always guaranteed from Barry if you get the "Can of Fizz" scene in the Main Hall. All this requires is grabbing the sword key, going down to where the Cerberus Hallway is and unlocking the door. You can then just turn around and head back out for the scene. Alternatively, you can still get the "Jill Sandwich" (technically, "Fit nicely into a sandwich") scene for the shotgun and exit back into the main hall. The scene will also occur on the second floor, though slightly different if you exit from up there (he'll point his gun at you and ease back).

Incendiary Rounds (Grenade Launcher) - Earliest place I can think of is a "drop" by Barry in one of the save rooms as you progress through the Mansion. The save room in question is on the East Wing, next to the door with the weakened handle. You'll know when Barry's made the drop as a piece of paper is outside stuck to the wall. Some other goodies are included, depending on the difficulty, you will discover more of this ammo later too.

Assault Shotgun - REQUIRES THAT YOU SAVE RICHARD WITH THE SERUM.

  • Jill - After saving Richard, he will come to aide you in the first fight with Yawn. You need to help him damage the snake enough that it fakes a death...then the shotgun will be available after the scene (pick it up on the ground).
  • Chris - After arriving in the Aqua Ring below the Residence, you will find Richard again. After you drain the water for the tank, the shotgun is located down where the Mother Neptune is situated (you'll spot it on the ground near one of the smaller Neptunes). It's right in your main path.

Magnum Revolver - In order to obtain this weapon, you need to enter a room and solve a puzzle on the 2nd Floor East Wing for the Mansion. The room in question is located on the north-east corridor above the save room here, with a couple zombies hanging about depending on the difficulty. You need the armor key to unlock the door. After entering, one of the doors leads to a room featuring a lot of different trophies and a fish tank. Examine the area to find a Fish Hook, Golden Bee and an actual Bee itself. Combine the fish-hook with the Golden Bee and place it with the other hooks, then place the actual Bee on the Insect Collection. Hit the button and the collection will slide up, revealing the Windcrest. The bee will come alive but is easily ignored, grab the medal and exit the room.

Now, you will need this medal when you are heading towards Lisa Trevor's cabin and you pass through a cemetery. On your right is a path leading to two large headstones, one of which has a slot for the Windcrest. Place it, then the thing will rotate revealing three more crests (all these items were used instead of the Death Masks in the original RE on PS1). Examine the backs of each and place each in the other headstone to reveal the Magnum.

Note: This looks exactly like Barry's 44. magnum, insure that you examine the name later on if you have both guns as one is infinitely more powerful than the other.

Self-Defense Gun - A small Derringer pistol that fires .22 Magnum Bullets. However, does not take ammo that's used for the .347 (or magnum revolver, if you want to go by game-name). It's located in the Residence, in the room with the hanging body (001, first room on the left upon entering). You'll need a key from room 002's bathroom in order to enter it. It's located on the desk in 001, accompanied by a suicide note.

This gun is relatively strong, it's wise to save it for fighting the Tyrant later. Though with just one shot it will take up some space.

Flamethrower (CHRIS ONLY!) - Found in the caves on a latch before fighting the giant spider Black Tiger. You can use the weapon against the spiders and even the webs, but afterwards you need to put it on another slot to open the next door. Can't keep it and can't reload.

Note: A broken one can be found by Jill but does not count as a weapon, only a key item.

Barry's .44 Magnum (JILL ONLY!) - Best gun in the game. This gun unfortunately requires you to not give it back to Barry during the final Lisa fight. Note that if you don't give it back, you won't get the "Trust Him" and "I'm a Member of S.T.A.R.S" achievement so if you have them already great if not, either load a previous save or get it next playthrough.

The gun will NOT be in your inventory it will be laying on the ground. I forgot about this myself during my speed-run and ran all the way to the labs before realizing it wasn't in my inventory had to run back (thankfully this isn't an issue like it was on the Gamecube, as there's no disc swap).

Rocket Launcher (Endgame) - Found in endings where the Self-Destruct System is active, you'll fire a signal flare for Brad to pick you up but the Tyrant will emerge from the roof. You need to damage him enough until Brad throws down the launcher, which is located near the center of the helipad. Pick it up and fire at the Tyrant, sometimes he can destroy a rocket or two but he will die by the last rocket.

Rocket Launcher (Infinite Ammo) - This requires you to complete the game on Normal or Higher in under three hours. Check out my guide below for tips in what to do. I'm no expert speed-runner and I managed it, you can too!

Samurai Edge - I don't see it on ResidentEvil.net, unless it's the "handgun" image they have but if all else fails you'll be unlocking this with the Infinite Rocket Launcher anyways. As it requires you to complete the game on Normal or higher in five hours or less. So, two birds with one stone!
