How to unlock the Pacific Coast Noteway achievement in Rocksmith 2014 Edition - Definitive Guide
I found these easier to do on emulated bass, on a guitar with a quick action (Ibanez S). You want to make sure you're playing cleanly, i.e. not accidentally bending strings or hitting multiple strings, and that your guitar is well tuned, so that you don't get false misses.
Like all the skill games, the multiplier is crucial; keep levelling up by completing the mini-game missions until you have a reasonable level. Choosing harder scales also gives a multiplier, but at the expense of also being trickier. I personally quite like the Mixolydian (spelling???) and Lydian modes, which have the 2x multiplier, and are relatively simple. Find a mode that suits you, that you can play pretty quickly via muscle memory. I also quite like the harmonic minor scale, but that's mostly because I had it drummed into me in lessons from a young age!
The main thing that catches me out is changing direction, on my high scoring runs I tend to notice that I'm lucky and don't have many switches. Whenever there is a slip-road available take it; the multiplier goes up and the speed drops for a bit. However, on any high scoring run you're going to have to get through fast sections and that's just down to familiarity with your chosen scale and practice.

Man I had a terrible time trying to get some clean runs with out 'combo breaking ' for no reason what - so - ever and I'm playing on very good guitars too...but aside from that I did manage to string together a run with 3/4 off ramps involved.
This would have been a lot easier for me had the game not combo braked on me all the time

Just a thought, you are waiting for the off-ramp to come up right? They appear on screen, then there's a short interval before they count - it's the same timing interval as the gap between the cars. If you play the off-ramp note too soon it will break combo but not register.
