How to unlock the Phantasmagorical Journey achievement in Sherlock Holmes: The Devil's Daughter - Definitive Guide
At the end of the ‘A Study in Green’ case, you return to the Club once you have retrieved the pyramid model from Albeit’s house and a map piece of the giant globe (the one you saw in the clubhouse) from Marley’s secret room.
In the clubhouse, walk up to the giant globe and press to focus on the globe. Press again to place the map piece on the missing section of the map (Guatemala). This will open the globe revealing a miniature reproduction of a jungle scene with temple structures. In the middle is a flat brownish circle. Press on this area to place the pyramid model on it. A short cutscene will play and you will be “transported” inside the temple to recreate the events of what really happened on the expedition.
Once inside, you will have to solve 7 puzzles. These aren’t too difficult and if you fail any you respawn right at the beginning of that puzzle.
Puzzle 1: Floor Traps
The solution to this puzzle is simple. The room is 10 tiles by 10 tiles. You need to step on certain tiles or you will release poison, killing you. Refer to the rudimentary image below for the correct path.
Puzzle 2: Circular Levers
This one is a bit tricky. There are six levers; three on each side of a circle platform. For ease of description, while facing the levers on the walkway, the levers will be numbered 1, 2 and 3 on the left and 4, 5 and 6 on the right. Levers 3 and 4 rotate the platform 45 degrees either way, levers 2 and 5 rotate the platform 90 degrees either way and levers 1 and 6 rotate the platform a full 180 degrees either way.
Directly across your position (before turning any levers) is the exit door. Along the outer wall, there are three alcoves at different positions and you need to rotate the platform so the walkway leads you to these alcoves so you can turn a lever to open the three locks on the exit door.
- For the first alcove, turn lever 4 once (to move 45 degrees to the left). Go the end of the walkway and turn that lever to open the first lock.
- For the second alcove, from your current position, turn lever 1 (or 6) once (to move 180 degrees). Go the end of the walkway and turn that lever to open the second lock.
- For the third alcove, from your current position, turn lever 3 once (to move 45 degrees to the right) then turn lever 5 once (to move 90 degrees to the left). Go the end of the walkway and turn that lever to open the third lock. The exit door is now open.
- To get the walkway to face the exit door, turn lever 2 once (to move 90 degrees to the right) and you should be able to exit the chamber.
Puzzle 3: Rolling Boulder
For this puzzle, you just need to avoid the rolling boulder chasing you. Run forward and duck into an empty alcove on your right. When it’s safe, press to exit cover and continue running until you see another empty alcove on the right. Duck into this one until the boulder passes then resume running to the end of the pathway. On the right will be a door. Walk through it and the puzzle is over.
Puzzle 4: Falling Floor Tiles
This one can be frustrating. The room is 9 tiles by 13 tiles. Not only are you dealing with falling floor tiles, the wall is moving, making the room smaller. If you take too much time, you will be crushed. Refer to the rudimentary image below for the correct path.
Puzzle 5: Poison Statues
This one is relatively easy. You need to make your way through a series of Mayan statues to exit at the opposite side of the room. Each statue is either smiling or frowning. You need to pass in front of the smiling statues as the frowning ones will release poison, killing you.
From the start point, walk to the left and turn right. Pass through the statues and turn right again. Pass one statue on the left (walk four tiles) and turn left. Pass one statue on the right then turn right. Run all the way to the wall and turn left. Pass one statue and turn left. Run straight across to the opposite wall and turn right. Walk into the corner and turn right again. Walk straight and your exit is on the left.
Puzzle 6: Bridge
All you need to do to pass this is run along the bridge and avoid the broken wood planks.
Puzzle 7: Center of the Temple
Walk up the steps to the temple. When you enter the circular chamber, interact with the idol on the pedestal in front of you, the closed gate on the other side of the pedestal and the Mayan calendar on the floor next to where you entered.
There are 10 slots in the wall. From your start position facing the closed gate, 1 through 5 is on the left and 6 through 10 is on the right.
The sequence is: 1, 6, 3, 8, 10, 5, 2, 7, 4 and 9
When you’re done, you will see a vision of four people entering the chamber. Watch the cutscene and when the game is loading for you to return to the clubhouse, the achievement will unlock.
