How to unlock the Dies Irae achievement in Sine Mora EX - Definitive Guide

This will be the final achievement you unlock. Here are the requirements:

1) Promoted to Major General
Unlock the previous achievement in the sequence:
Sine Mora EXFortiter, Fideliter, FeliciterThe Fortiter, Fideliter, Feliciter achievement in Sine Mora EX worth 1020 pointsPromoted to Major General

2) Clean game time is over 24 hours
Your cumulative time in game (not in menus) must exceed 24 hours.

3) Encounter the killer piano
This is a random powerup in Arcade and Score attack that will kill you when picked up. You'll get one eventually without trying, likely during a good run, like this (video).

4) Finish a stage with half a or less second remaining
I did this in boss training on Angrenost. Pick Speed Up as your capsule, get to the final section and kill all enemies aside from the boss/window. Get the health to a sliver and wait for time to count down. When you get to one second, slow time, then with less than .5 seconds left, deal the last sliver to the boss.

5) Complete arcade with all pilots
Play through Arcade mode with each of the seven pilots. You can use continues. If needed, practice bosses in boss training so you know how to handle them, which you should by now since you had to get an A rank on each stage for a previous achievement.

6) Complete arcade without using a continue
I suggest the Pytel in the Liberator with Reflect. Not bad with a little practice. Make sure to know how to get through the instant death sections safely.

7) Complete arcade using only your primary weapon
I suggest using one of the pilots with a weak subweapon since you won't be using it. Not really that difficult once you know the game. Stop increasing primary at 7 for maximum damage output.

8) Finish a stage on insane without picking up anything
This is the hardest task in the game. Enemies release suicide bullets, you only have one full capsule and two uses of subweapon, your primary is at level 1, and you can't accidentally pick up anything. In many places, getting hit once ruins your run. I did this on stage 1 with the Liberator, Magusa (best subweapon for this task), and Reflection.

The only way to succeed is to practice enough to have complete mastery of each section of the level. Before getting started, practice the bosses in boss training on insane with primary at level 1.

Here is my successful run:
The first section is rough until you know when and where every enemy spawns. With enough practice it becomes sort of routine. You cannot get hit and you must kill most of the enemies to have enough time left at the end.

Kolobok phase 1 is a matter of destroying the upper face place quickly without getting hit. After that, reflect his spiral volley to destroy the rest of the parts of the face plate (using as little Reflect as possible), then dodge his attacks until he flies away. You can get hit two (maybe three) times after destroying his face plates.

The next leg is similar to the first but much more forgiving. You can get hit once here if you're diligent with killing enemies. Without getting hit, you can skip a lot of the enemies as you won't need the extra time.

Kolobok phase 2 is easy with Magusa's subweapon. Activate it immediately and you will destroy his legs quickly. After destroying the legs, you will have a ton of time and can get hit multiple times without it being an issue.

The next section is the hardest in my opinion. You cannot get hit at all and pickups can appear in tight spaces making them hard to avoid, especially since you have a somewhat strict window to engage the worms safely. Once this sequence begins, you must quickly kill the first six ships but leave the final five so they don't drop a score pickup that you automatically get during transition. You can skip one worm in the cave and have just enough time left at the end. You'll need to practice to learn how to engage worms without getting hit. Try to pull away as they die to avoid their goo explosion and use Reflect if you have to.

Matoushka shouldn't be difficult at all if you've practiced. Use reflect on the big turrets in the first two parts, then use your subweapon at the tower (being careful not to crash it into the train and break one side off). Make sure you know what the big cannon will fire based on the lights as light three is a giant instant kill bullet. Try to have a some reflect left for the spiral turret on the final stage.

Good luck!

Just another Tip auto shield does not void the challenge for primary only. If you see a shield around you it's completely fine and it actually makes things easier.

Apart from that keep your fingers off RT and B and you will be fine it's really not hard once you get used to the boss patterns and tricky parts.

This trophy will pop after fulfilling the following requirements:

Promoted to Major General: Fulfil the requirements for Fortiter Fideliter Feliciter .

Playing time is over 24 hours: For most players this will come naturally while working on the harder requirements but there is a chance that veteran players from the other versions of the game will complete everything before reaching 24 hours of gameplay. If this is the case, iMauroPB recommends you choose Versus, start the minigame Domus Mea et Praecepta Mea and leave it idle but be aware that you need 2 controllers or a Vita (if you lack a 2nd controller) for this method to work.

Encounter the killer piano: The killer piano is a dark orb with the “III” symbol on it that has a chance to drop when killing enemies in Arcade or Score Attack (I’ve never seen it pop in Story mode). Pick it up and a piano will be dropped on your ship and will instantly kill you.

Finish a stage with half a second or less remaining: Go into Boss Training and choose Angrenost on Normal difficulty. You can choose any set-up you want including the capsule, although it’s a reasonable choice to bring the Speed Up capsule here. Fight the boss normally until the last phase. When you reach it destroy all turrets and get close to the glass. Get its health down to a tiny bit and wait for the time to reach 1-1.5 seconds and activate the capsule. With the capsule activated, start shooting or use a subweapon when the time reaches 0.5 seconds and you should be able to destroy the boss and earn this requirement.

Complete arcade mode with all pilots: Complete Arcade with the pilots you are missing. I suggest using Dryad for the primary-only run as her subweapon is useless.

Complete arcade without using a continue: Even though this is the 4th hardest requirement in the game, it's much easier than you may expect thanks to Challenging difficulty and it is entirely possible to get this in conjunction with the primary-only run. If you want to focus on this requirement alone, choose the GE-22 Liberator, Pytel or Koss and the Reflection capsule. You should have memorized the game well by now and the only things you should worry about are the instant-kill hazards in level 3. If you need visual reference, refer to the video under the primary-only run requirement below.

Complete arcade using only your primary weapon: What once was the most dreaded requirement in the game is now reduced to child’s play. This is the 3rd hardest requirement in the game but, once again, it’s a lot easier than you may expect and if you have already A-ranked all levels in Score Attack this will be a breeze.

To fulfill this requirement, you have to clear an Arcade run with just your primary fire. Using a capsule or a subweapon will instantly void the requirement. You can, however, continue upon dying and also use Extends and Shields. GE-22 Liberator is the ship you should rely on and you should focus on getting lv.7 firepower as soon as possible. Perhaps the most important piece of advice I can give you is to be very careful when fighting bosses and staying close to the left edge of the screen, as some attacks can make you potentially lose all your power-ups if they go off-screen. Another thing that could potentially stop your run is the last boss: unfortunately some of its patterns are quite hard to dodge even on Challenging difficulty, not to mention that retrieving the power-ups can be difficult when the boss moves around. I recommend reaching it with as many Continues as possible so that if you get unlucky with its patterns you will hopefully make it on the next attempt. If you don't feel confident, then you can practice in Boss Training on Challenging difficulty before attempting this run but Challenging is so forgiving that it shouldn't be necessary.

This is a video showing you how to clear an Arcade run with only the primary weapon and without using a Continue. As you can see, I make a lot of mistakes but I can still get both requirements done in a single run so that will hopefully encourage you to keep trying if you are new to the game and are struggling on your 1st attempts:

Finish a stage on Insane without picking up anything: This is by far the hardest requirement in the game and what will decide if you are worthy of the 100%. This can only be done in Score Attack, as Arcade has no longer Insane difficulty available. To fulfill it, you need to clear a level without picking up anything at all, which means that not only will you have to dodge suicide bullets and orbs/tokens getting in the way when you least expect it but you also can’t upgrade your primary fire nor refill your subweapon and capsule.

I recommend level 1 for this: choose the GE-22 Liberator, Magusa (huge thanks to KaKrackle for bringing the Gemini subweapon to our attention) and Reflection capsule. The 1st part is quite hard until you memorize all enemy spawns and try your best not to use any Reflection as it will be essential later. Make absolutely sure to kill as many enemies as possible and never get hit, otherwise time will run out before you reach Kolobok. Also, when you reach the 2 enemies right before Kolobok, do not kill them, because, if they drop a score token, you will automatically retrieve it (and void the requirement) when the time re-establishes and you start the boss fight.

As for Kolobok’s 1st phase, fight it as always but make sure you use a bit of Reflection during its spiral pattern and reflect enough bullets to destroy its face plates quickly. Don’t worry about destroying the turret above the boss, as it won’t be a big problem for the 2nd phase.

After the boss' 1st phase, you will have to navigate a short section while dealing with planes and tanks: this should be easy and once again try not to use any Reflection here. Don't destroy the last tank right before the boss’ 2nd phase, as it may drop a score token you would automatically suck in.

As for Kolobok's 2nd phase, start the fight by using the Gemini subweapon and destroy most of Kolobok's legs easily. After that, fight it normally while dodging as best as you can. Do NOT use Reflection during the fight.

After this fight, you will have to fight a few planes: only thing to say here is that you can kill them all except for the last 5 (unless you are lucky like me in the video, where I end up killing 2 out of 5) since they can drop a score token (the middle plane of the last formation can actually be killed providing you don't kill it too soon) that would be automatically sucked in.

The next part is the hardest one: navigating the worm tunnel is no easy feat, as the worms are hard to dodge and to destroy and you can easily get contact damage by touching the walls. Keep in mind you have to kill all of the worms except for 1 and you cannot get hit at all. Feel free to use Reflection here especially if you have to get very close to the worms or if you have no room to dodge their green crap when they explode.

Next is Matouschka, which is easy enough if you have a lot of Reflection left. You want to use it as shown in the video below to take care of the 1st 2 sets of turrets quickly. When you reach the tower where the planes start spawning, use the Gemini subweapon to quickly dispose of it. The subweapon lasts for so long that you will also be able to partially damage the turrets in the next phase. When you reach the big cannon, use Reflection to damage it a bit more quickly and be wary of its instant-kill bullet (which can only be dodged and is anticipated by the 3rd light of the cannon). When you reach the last phase, use any Reflection you have left to destroy as many turrets as possible, while making sure to prioritize the leftmost one which shoots an insane amount of bullets.

If you want to see all of this in action, refer to the following video:

Promoted to the rank of Air Force General
• Receive the rank of major general
• Playing time is more than 24 hours
By this point, the meter will have 50-60 hours guaranteed.
• Catch the killer piano (in any mode)
• Finish a level with half a second or less left on the timer (in any mode)
The Agrenost boss and a slowdown capsule are perfect for this. You destroy all the turrets and wait until there is little time left - turn on the slowdown and kill the boss at the required countdown.
• Complete the arcade with all pilots (arcade)
Finally, I advise you to leave the Magusa pilot, because... her sub-weapon is the most non-show-off.
• Complete the arcade without using continues (arcade)
In 8 playthroughs you'll get the hang of it, I think. The video attached above perfectly shows how to do this.
• Complete the arcade using only the main weapon (arcade)
The most difficult criterion is that you cannot use the capsule and sub-weapons at all. You'll have to learn the game by heart - every second, every pattern, absolutely everything. There are three important factors to be aware of:
- when playing with the main weapon, the game generates shields very often - having a shield on the boss and difficult places is the key to success;
- level of the main weapon: as I wrote above, the higher it is, the less time you are given; Personally, I didn’t pump it above level 7 - this allowed me to catch 1-2 hits in a critical situation
- last boss: the first phase must be completed before the 3rd pattern, and in the 4th phase the development of events depends a little on your luck, so it is extremely important to save at least 1 continuation.
• Complete any level on Insane difficulty without picking up anything (arcade or attack speed)
In fact, you can pick up anything - you start the arcade, go to Mother, collecting all the power-ups, die on Mother, and then complete the level.

Regarding the last point: the tip above is only relevant for the Steam version of the game. The Insane difficulty is not in the arcade version for PS 4, so you will have to go through it in quick attacks. In this case, you need to dodge not only all projectiles, but also coins, weapon upgrades, etc. Also, you can’t kill the last planes before the bosses, because if an upgrade drops, it will be automatically taken.
This trophy is the most difficult in the entire game and it is thanks to it that the game deservedly received a difficulty rating of 9 out of 10.
