How to unlock the The Hunters Become the Hunted achievement in SOULCALIBUR VI - Definitive Guide

Late in the story, random Astral Fissures (circular stormcloud like icons on the map) will start to appear. These will have randomly generated online player characters that range from Level 45 to 70, with varying status gimmicks in the match.

The best time to earn this is once you are at the very end of Chapter 5 or have the story missions completed, and have the Soul Edge weapon obtained from beating the Ancient and having all Towns maxed.

The best perks to have on your weapon are Soul Charge gauge extension, Soul Charge auto-recovery 0.5 seconds, Damage down 20%, and so on. The Soul Edge gets 3 slots, so put three of them on it. You can buy good perks from Item shops on the maxed out towns if you don't have good ones already.

Always have a Food item set. Go to the maxed 4th town and you can buy Pork Kakuni (Superb) which gives 25% Damage increase. Or the 1st town maxed which has the 60% Health bar increase Food. There are also Auto Health and Soul Gauge Recovery every 0.3 or 0.5 second or Foods that are useful, or 60% Health back upon Soul Charge ("SC" in the game description).

Mercenaries can also help but usually do not.

If one is too hard for you, you can make a new one appear by going and doing 5 to 10 Missions.

Sometimes there is no Astral Fissure active on the map. You must do 3 to 5 Missions of any type for a new one to appear.

To make time progress for an unlucky Astral to disappear or a new one to appear, go to the bottom right beginning area of the map and travel back and forth, doing easy single round fights. Alternatively you can do the back and forth in varying areas of the map, so you get varying level weapons for your second playthrough's character.

Astral Fissures also will give option of tipping scale to Good or Evil. You can use this if you want a different tipping achievement, but only one can be obtained per playthrough. After the Groh fight, it marks the playthrough as Good or Evil, despite the achievement-pop happening at the post-fight mission Unsung Hero.

For those looking for more of an edge there is a food item called yellow tea in the town of Dhaka (it may have to be fully leveled first). It gives you unlimited soul charge once it's activated. You still have to charge it first but once it's active you have it for the remainder of the fight. You can then spam soul charge moves. It costs 7200 gold though so it's costly.

Edit: I just got this achievement today and just to let everyone know all 30 do not have to be done on the same character. My good ending character did 4 and my evil ending character did 26. I used a female outcast with Groh's fighting style and mostly fought levels 45-50 and a few 70s. If the buff says they are soul charged dont even bother with them. just travel until a new fissure opens up. I sometimes threw the merc fei hong at them and used food that gave me health back with damage delivered and sometimes yellow tea. For the weapon gems I used ones that gave soul charge more damage and health back when activated. Now all I need is the online achievements.... :(

Do the story related fissures count at all or no?

Only the fights against other people's created characters count.
I was keeping track of the number as I went to confirm this.

Damn... Thanks for for letting me know. Any idea if it has to be on the same character or it can be spread among two characters (good and bad ending)? I've gotten a few on my first character but am also doing them now on my second because there are secondary missions left to do and they have a Groh playstyle which helps (the ai wants to be cheap I'll be cheap).

Do 30 fissures need to be done in one playthrough or over multiple?

Is there any way to track how many you've done? I feel like I've gotten over 30 but I can't be sure and I wasn't counting at first. I did a ton with m first character and then when I made my second I started counting manually. I assume each fight you win and you choose which sword counts as one completion?

If difficulties arise in closing astral rifts, you can alleviate them by:

In Chapter 5, you can complete the achievement Pioneer of Prosperity / Champion of Prosperity , this is to increase the level of 4 cities to the maximum. After this, the food “Yellow medicinal wine (Excellent quality)” will appear in the store in the city of Ferndorf , it gives the bonus “No rebound (weak attacks)” , the cost of this food is 5400. By using it before a fight with a difficult enemy, you can easily close fault.

Quests to close portals will appear at the end of the fifth chapter, before the battle with Grøh.
Some are easy to complete, while others will require you to suffer, even if the difference in levels reaches 50 Lv.
Some of them contain quite harmful opponents (like those with enhanced vertical attacks).
If the portals are gone, go through any side battle (such as "search for power" or "bounty on your head") and the portals will reappear.
