It’s easy to get through the game without doing this but it’s still easy to get.
Load up Chapter 5.6, you should start out on a bit of land surrounded by a pool, in front of you is a River of black gunk flowing into it. Follow the gunk river along the left hand wall. You should see a jump gate and its standing stone that charges it inside a broken tower. There’s a spirit bloom a bit further up the gunk river so recharge there after you charge the gate as you need spirit energy to dash.
Dash is performed with
and the dash is aimed wherever your camera is looking, not where your fox is pointing. So jump in the gate with the camera pointed back to the gate, this gate is angled in such a way that your hang time will allow your Dash to recharge and still reach back to the gate during the fall. So once you stall at the apex activate Dash back toward the jump gate and fall toward it, you should land on it and get tossed back into the air.
I think you need 4-5 successful dashes back to the gate to get all 8 seconds. If you dash too soon you can land on the upper floor of the broken tower so it may take a few tries, but you can easily knock this achievement out in less than 5 minutes.

Good find. I used a different spot, shortly after you gain the dash ability and have to cross a big trench, but used your method and got it first try. Thanks.

You can do this easily in chapter 5. After the 3 spirit gates section, jump back toward the spirit gate and dash. It will push you back, do that without touching the ground until you get the achievement (around 5 times should be enough).

First you need to unlock Spirit dash. Without it, the entire trophy will be blocked. Luckily that is a storyline ability.
Where I unlocked it
During Chapter 5, spirit gates will become part of puzzles. These are gates activated with Spirit bloom on a standing stone. Then they fire you into the air.
Around part 5 of this chapter you'll come to a river of sludge. Following it up youXll see spirit bloom. Grab one and head back to the gate. Activate it and head back to the last spirit bloom and get a new one. Use the gate, jump over both gaps and active the second. The fly through.
Looking back where you just come from, you'll see a preasure pad to the right. Hump down and go to the end of this part and find new spirit bloom. Head back to the preasure pad and hit Square whilst standing on it then fly up all three gates in spirit form. This takes some practice as the first gate fires you slightly left and it can be difficult to aim a dash in the air.
Once at the top approach the standing stone and hit Triangle to activate the gates permenently.
Then as the Fox, go back to the second spirit bloom and get a new bloom.Go back tot the first gate. Now, this can take a few atempts, but once you get the timing right and you get consistant with it, you'll unlock the trophy.
Now, run through the gate locking backwards, as it starts to get slower and starts dropping, hit R2 to dash back in to the gate. Do this three times and the trophy unlocks.
