How to unlock the The Gold Miner achievement in SSX - Definitive Guide

The following are the requirements for Gold Explore Badge (all must be collected for the achievement:

I'm Done - Earn a Gold medal for every drop in one range.

I would advise Alaska to be the place to do it - Gold can be achieved on most drops pretty easily. It is advised you wait and do this badge when you have a higher level player so you can use better mods such as speed boost for race events and trick multiplier for trick events.

For the trick events where you have the avalanche view, try to keep the combo going (by manualing with b or x on flat) + (varying the tricks in the air) the whole way down the mountain and you will eventually get the required amount *there are two* - this is frustrating so keep at it!

Inheritance - Earn a total of 150,000 SSX credits from ghost wins.

Everytime someone loses to your record on a range, you will win an amount of credits - just make sure you have a good range of friends who have the game and set as many records as possible to increase the likliness of getting it quickly.

Supernatural Snowboarder - Your records have withstood 50 challenges from Friends.

This is similar to the last badge but is the number of times you must withstand them beating you rather than credits earned.

Lonely at the Top - Beat 50 friends records.

Again, make sure you have plenty of friends on your list and this will eventually come - this can be easily boosted by getting someone to set a poor record and then you beating it.

Hoarder - Place 15 Geotags that never get collected.

If you place a geotag in a hard to reach place and no one finds it for 24 +hours, this counts as 1. Try hiding them in cliff drops where someone is unlikely to stumble across unless by accident. As soon as you hit level 7 with a character, you can hold 2 geotags per run, speeding up the process.

Just a warning though, you will go insane on the Trick Events with the Avalance camera angle - but stick with it and you'll get it eventually...

Hehe, I'll try those out first to see how horrible they are, and see if I stick with Rockies or continue with Alaska. Seriously, Broken Tooth Trick It is so annoying I'm almost in tears right now.

Well, thanks to your guide I have now "I'm Done", since golding Alaska was a million times easier than getting gold on Trick It "Broken Tooth"! A thousand times recommended. :)

Tips for Hoarder - at the start of the level turn around and go up hill and make sure its off camera (when you start sometimes you can see the area behind the starting point) - you may get a few this way.... alternatively, - i forgot which level but there was a level where right at the start was a portacabin/wooden hut towards the back but on the left and i jsut went behind there and put one there... just think of cheeky places to put it and you'll get it eventually... other places include down crevises as far down as possible.

Earn a Gold medal for every drop in one range.?

what does that mean excatly? as i am not sure but is it one whole mountain?
0
0
By SlavenBOSS on 16 Mar 2012 18:15
as in 1 whole area... so for example, you choose alaska - within alaska are 3 different mountains i think? - you have to get gold on each event in each mountain... then you will have gold on every event (or drop) in that district/area.

This achievement is hard. I have one Avalanche tricky @ Alaska that i just can't get silver or gold. It's so frustrating. And still, Alaska is by far the easiest to get all gold.

Another tip for hoarder: go to global events, custom, set up a match with a level 1 gear limit, then buy a ton of geotags. Level 1 geotags are dirt cheap so you can afford to drop them EVERYWHERE (well, ideally places like Manic Moose suggested) and not worry about the cost. I'd generally drop 2-4 in the same crevasse/obnoxious place whenever I was placing them to increase the chance that at least one wan't found.

Also, to boost Inheritance/Supernatural Snowboarder, you can use a second account... friend the account, then set a Survival record with the main account on a survival run that has a chasm right near the beginning. Have the second account immediately fall into the chasm. Repeat 100 times. Takes under an hour. Boring as heck, but even easier if you have a turbo stick and just rubber-band the A button.

Personally I have found Siberia to be pretty easy to all gold (only got one more tricky to get and I'm on a silver for it at the moment) - Just in case anyone is sick of the chuffing avalanche levels in Alaska it's worth a try

I could never figure out the stupid Avalanche trickys either. If you get a Level 10 Wingsuit, then Patagonia is real easy. Almost all races have big shortcuts by using wingsuit. The Tricky points are low and can be gotten in short stretches of jumps (just remember to stop to lock in the points). The hardest part is actually some of the Survivials.

in terms of friend "challenges" do they have to challenge from ridernet or can they just go directly to a range and try to beat your score? I have already had a couple of survival challenges that my friends have lost to but I still don't even have bronze for ghost wins...

@FRENCH

By starting a run that has a score from your friend that exceeds your own best score

i.e. JT2 Race-It!
1. Matthewlover101 1:48
2. koobz2142 1:50

It starts a "challenge"
if you quit the run (stop retrying) before beating their score, it will add one to their "challenges won" counter.

Woah, i finally got this achievement! Siberia is by far easiest place to get all gold. There is only one quite hard tricky. On that tricky you have to get 10M but if you practice while you will get that gold medal.

Also.... my vote is for doing the all gold in one range on Siberia, that last tricky event is a B***H, but that is really the only hard one there is.

Would anyone know if using Mt. Fuji works for this achievement/the badge for getting gold in all the events in a single range? Also, it would seem as though it is now free and available to anyone interested.
There is only a single peak with 6 events total, and they seem pretty easy.

I'm posting this on my boosting account that I'm just doing every race pretty shittily with so I can beat it later, and I was fairing pretty well without trying at all on Mt. Fuji....

^ It seems the rule for this game is that all DLC/additional content doesn't count towards the badges..

By grex9101 on 13 Mar 2013 02:35
^ Actually, it seems like DLC counts double for Supernatural Snowboarder. I set a race record on the bottom-most segment of Mt. Eddie and then lost to it 25 times with my alt account, and got all 50. I went back and forth a couple times to make sure, and each time I lost to my main it counted once on the While You Were Away screen, but twice on the medal screen.

Finally done the stupid Alaska avalanche ones to gold! What I did (as a tip from another website) was tape the RT button down so I boosted the whole way down and guaranteed that I would tweak all my moves without worrying about letting go of the button while doing my combos. It seemed to help me at least.

Also, to get your multiplier up quickly do little jumps while tapping X or B when not tricking off big cliff get as much score as possible early. Still struggled a lot though with the Invincible Trick It. I did the hard ones first though so hopefully I'll be able to get through the rest of Alaska without as much difficulty. :/

I struggled on Alaska doing one of the avalanche once and i said screw it so I went to Siberia noticing I had a couple gold there already and I found the trick competitions were much easier there (gold every one first try) and that just left me to gold a race and a survive challenge. If you don't have a problem doing race events I would suggest Siberia as a back up they are fairly easy to beat.

Placing geotags is simple. All I did was play events in Global events. Any event with a level limit (usually level 6) will only have gear and geotags available for purchase at that level. Level 6 geotags are only 3k-6k. Very affordable. I just placed them if I ever needed to rewind. You can try placing them off the map and such, but I find that putting them on the course, in areas of high traffic helps. Especially if you put them not near the main jumps that give the most points. On a side note, Im still gouging my eyes out over getting all gold medals in a range.

Just wanted to add my two cents that I did all my gold medals in the Rockies (after noticing I already had about half the golds there). Broken Tooth Trick It is a bit of a bitch and needs to be done flawlessly but if you stay patient you can get it. I was just chatting with a friend to distract myself and popped it much quicker than I anticipated.

If anyone is still having trouble with "I'm Done", USE FLIPS NOT SPINS. I went from 7 mil to 10 mil to 12 mil (consecutively) and got the last gold I needed.

Alaska was definitely the way to go. None of them were too overly difficult like some of the other mountains, even with the flipped camera angle (which I absolutely hate; what an awful game design).

One more thing : Unfortunately, getting all golds (respectively silver and bronze) on the free dlc adding the Japan range doesn't unlock the badges. Since it is a one mountain range and only 6 moderately easy races, it would have been the best choice.

+1 to gobey's comment about having something hold down RT for the Avalanche Trick events. I wasn't sure that I was good enough for them until I did that trick and completely smashed the scores by over 2 mil. Alaska was my pick btw.

The HOLD RT button worked for me. Get rid of holding LT, you will crash.
So hold RT during the avalanche levels. That way you will not crash and you will get 20x multiplyer fast. After dozens of hours trying, i finally done it very fast by holding RT-is like a god mode. Thank you.

I have all golds on every Rockies event except Trick It on Broken Tooth, where I hit a brick wall. Been trying at least 100 runs so far, and will definitely check out Alaska instead since I'm about to go insane over that event.

Heh, I got my golds on Alaska too -- I liked the avalanche events so it wasn't too trying.

As a tip to those struggling, only ever spin straight down (towards you) on the reverse-angle avalanche runs. Flips alone score more than spins or flip/spin combos, and since you'll already be holding the LS south anyway, it's a natural fit. Makes things a bit easier. And pre-wind, pre-wind, pre-wind!

Hoarder is definitely the tough one IMO. I've placed nearly 60 tags and have still only had 5 not found. :-( It's the only badge in the entire game I don't have yet.

Whew..... I finally got the Siberia tricky gold today, after maybe 300 tries. It definately aint easy. I used Eddie (+15 tricks) with a level 11 tricks board, and level 11 mods for tricks, boost and multiplier.

I think the trick is getting used to the track and learning when and where exactly to jump, and when to not jump but just get through alive. The positive is, by the time I actually got the gold, survive it was a piece of cake, as I knew the track so well. Now just gotta have two geotags to undiscovered, and the achievement will be mine!

Ok, Tranierx is 100% right. Use flips only.

After trying this method, I more than doubled the required Gold scores on the last two Alaska maps I needed, one of which was the Deadly Descent trick. Chain with ground tricks (nose press/tail press) and vary your tricks with flips. One try 17,000,000 on Pan and 9,000,000 on the Deadly Descent.

Yeah, finally got this. Although I was skeptical, because I struggled a lot with the reverse-angle in Alaska I managed to get it done there now.
I also tried New Zealand and Antarctica, but if you think they're easier than have a look at the mean events there first (for New Zealand that's Jack-Knife Trick It and Thunderbird Trick It; Antarctica Long Horn Trick It).
Once you managed to get Emergency Exit Trick It and Invincible Trick It done in Alaska, the rest is really easy.
Some useful insights about this badge can also be found on the forum of ps3trophies.org. A high level character also helps (I had Kaori level 12, with a great tricks board, a suit with more tricky time and a legendary mod that extends tricky time for Emergency Exit).
It may sound stupid, but your biggest enemy in this events is becoming to greedy. Stop your tricks early when your not sure when you're going to hit the ground again, because the penalty for crashing is the thing that usually ruins a run and not having missed some more points.
Best of luck to everyone who is still going for this. It's the hardest challenge in the whole game to get this badge.

I also used the Hold-RT on Avalanches Method in Alaska and was able to Gold Medal immediately after. I also wouldn't bother with these unless you also have a level 15 Mac/Eddie either just to make it simpler (For Trick Events, for Race/Survival I used a level 15 Alex). Once I had maxed out characters with maxed out equipment: I was able to 1st try basically every run that I didn't prematurely bail out of due to messing up a full combo.

If you have a turbo controller i found a quick way to level up a character to max and get these two medals without even playing:

--------------------------------------
Inheritance - Earn a total of 150,000 SSX credits from ghost wins.
--------------------------------------
Supernatural Snowboarder - Your records have withstood 50 challenges from Friends.
--------------------------------------

- play the SURVIVE IT drop on the range Kara-Quik* in Siberia with your MAIN ACCOUNT and survive for 50m or more.

- log in with your SECONDARY ACCOUNT (that should be friends with the main account) and play that same drop. Turbo the 'A' (jump) button and you will hop your way down the hole at about 42m.

you will gain 1200 exp per RESTART (that the turbo controller is doing for you after every fail). this makes ranking up your characters effortless if you say, have to go to work. It also will earn your main account a TON OF SSX CREDITS. I got 9 million+ credits in about 4 hours and Eddie went from level 1 to level 9.

ofcourse not everyone has a turbo controller and for those individuals this guide does not apply.

This solution is for the hardest part of the "Gold Miner" achievement, which is the "I'm Done" challenge:

I have boosted tons of credits with a dummy account (*see below for how*), which I then used to buy hundreds of geotags, which in turn boosted me to level 15! (I boosted Alex [for race events], Psymon and Mac [for trick events]). I bought the absolute best gear and have loads of money for as many mods as I wish. This makes everything so much easier, just short of fool-proof.
In total I must have spent 200 million credits on the gear, the ranking-up charges (past level 10) and the mods.

*The way you can get unlimited credits is as follows:
1. You need 2 accounts! (easy if you're playing on Xbox One, because of gold sharing)
2. Use either one of your accounts (primary or dummy) and go to "Global".
3. Create an online event (not the 1-2-3 events though!). Patagonia has slopes with very convenient cliffs.
4. Set it up as:
--- survival
--- 10min
--- select highest entrance fee that both your accounts can afford
--- leave the prize money distribution at its default. (this way one of your accounts will get his entrance fee back in full and the winning account gets around 160% of his entrance fee as a prize.) I know the math is weird, but that's how much money you'll get
5. Use one of the accounts and jump off the first cliff you can find. Use the other account and barely beat that distance, then also jump off a cliff. It doesn't matter which account you win with first, since you will be alternating the winner every race
6. Wait until the event is over in 10min and collect your prize money.
7. Now you switch the account that wins the next race. This way, both accounts will receive the 160% prize money every other round and the money for both accounts will increase.
8. Since both accounts will have more money over time, that allows you to select higher entrance fees and will therefore result in higher prize money. Thus, your money will increase almost exponentially and soon you will have prizes around 100 million and more each race.

Hope this helps and anyone is still in need of a solution for this ancient game.

Many of these Badges require friends to set records, if you need to find friends to play SSX with see Co-op Partners Thread - Friends/Rivals (Read First Post!)
Get all 15 badges under the EXPLORE category:

Earn a Bronze/Silver/Gold Medal for every drop in 1 Range.
Mount Fuji does not count for this badge. You must earn Bronze/Silver/Gold medals in all Trick, Race and Survive It! events for the 3-4 peaks in each range. I found Alaska easiest, but this 100% comes down to personal preference.
Earn a total of 1500/15,000/150,000 SSX Credits from ghost wins.
When you complete an event in Explore mode while on the PSN, you upload a ghost that your friends compete against when they do the same event. If they fail to beat your record, you gain credits. Competing in as many events on as many different ranges and peaks as you can will increase your chances of friends playing against your ghost. Of course you may boost this badge by having your friends purposely fail to break your records repeatedly. You may have to quit and restart the game in order to earn this badge.
Your records have withstood 1/25/50 challenge from your Friends.
This similar to the previous badge set, but this time the amount of Credits is not what is important, but rather how many times they fail to beat your ghost. This may be boosted in the same way as the previous badge set.
Beat 1/25/50 Friends records.
Records do not have to be set by 50 different friends, you may beat one friend's records 50 times, or two friends' records 25 times each, etc. You may boost this by having a friend set very low records on runs and doing better than they did.
Place 1/5/15 Geotag that never gets collected (earning you the max)
This one seems to have most people confused, especially about the definition of "never". Once you place a Geotag, an invisible timer starts. The length of this timer is affected by the color of the Geotag. Geotags of level 1-7 are Green and have the lowest timer, Geotags level 8 and 9 are Purple and have a medium length timer, and Geotags level 10 are Yellow and have the longest timer.
If a Geotag is collected before the timer expires, you receive a percentage of the total credits and the person who collected it gets the full amount of credits. However, if the timer reaches it's full duration, the Geotag expires and you receive the full amount of credits on the Geotag. Each Geotag that expires naturally brings you one step closer to these badges.
As for hiding the Geotags, I recommend against placing them in places you reached accidentally. It may seem out of the way, but if you got there by accident, it's likely someone else will as well. A better thing to do is place them in areas that you must aim for, like an area you must go off the track and/or boost uphill in order to reach. Also, not many people play levels in the Himalayas that require Oxygen tanks, or, to a lesser extent, ones in Antarctica that require Solar Panels. A well hid Geotag on either of those levels will have minimal risk of being found.
I hope this cleared up any confusion surrounding Geotagging.

1. Earn gold on every descent in one location. This is very difficult. If you have little experience, you will need to train to obtain this badge. The easiest location, for me, is Siberia.

2. Earn 150,000 from your ghost. Complete the race, then log in through another account and complete the same race, only worse. Repeat until you receive a badge.

3. Friends or from 2 accounts must lose to the ghost of the pine account 50 times. A boring trophy, so it can be solved by having friends in the game or using a second account.

4. Beat 50 friends' records. This is done using a second account.

5. Set 15 geotags that will never be found. Try to place them in secluded places, for example, under diving boards

On the way to gold in one Region, I recommend starting with the Survive mode, then Race and leaving the cherry on the cake - Trick
It is also advisable to have at least two characters leveled up to level 10. At level 10, an additional slot for gadgets opens, as well as costumes with perks.
