How to unlock the LEADING ATHLETE achievement in Summer Athletics 2009 - Definitive Guide

For this achievement you have to get to the top of the intern leaderloard of the game in all 28 discliplines. This have to be done in PURE mode. When you’re getting a record in ARCADE mode it will not count! You don’t have to beat the records, it’s enough to equal it only.
Here are the values you have to beat or equal:

Some tips:
Running: Try to get a perfect start. If you don’t, restart. If you’re not able to hold a perfect speed at 400 m, simply press Start or the guide button so the game pauses instantly. Get a little rest and continue.
Throwing: Perfect power, perfect angle, perfect timing. That’s the only way to go in most of the disciplines.
Jumping: For Long and Triple Jump you’ll need perfect speed, perfect steps, perfect angle. There’s no other way.
Swimming: This events can be very hard to handle. Get a perfect start and perfect speed as fast as you can. If you’re having troubles with Backstroke and Freestyle, turn your controller 45° counterclockwise. Now Backstroke is the same as Breaststroke and Freestyle as Butterfly. For Diving I used jumps #4 and #5, both with perfect entry, and got 192.60.
Skeet: Skeet shooting seems to make the most problems. Practise is the key. Set some marks for yourself at every station. Try to shoot the single clay pigeons as early as you can at stations where doubles are. It’s a good practise for the doubles. You can miss one clay pigeon in American Skeet and two in International Skeet.

Hope this will help.

This is awarded for topping the leaderboard of every discipline. This will most likely be the last achievement you unlock as some of the records will take a lot of practice to get. You can check the high scores from the main menu. The following are brief tips to help you in your goal, however the main key is to keep practicing until you get there!

  • Sprints: A Perfect start is needed for the 100m & 200m, then run like hell (100 or close to) for the whole sprint. The 400m is more forgiving, you don't need a perfect start but it helps!
  • Hurdles: Perfectly clear each hurdle and run close to full speed
  • Middle distance: Get to the front and pull away, run at three bars empty from the top, and sprint at the end.
  • Jumping: For Long & Triple, a perfect run and perfect takeoffs, High Jump and Pole Vault shouldn't be a problem
  • Throwing: Full speed and a perfect release should get all of these
  • Swimming: Perfect turns and grabs are needed here, and near perfect speed all the way though
  • Diving: You will need to do complicated dives near perfectly for this
  • Shooting: Probably the hardest. Learn the shoots and to listen for releases.
  • Archery: Be patient and line up your shots. With the 50m Recurve, if the shot is not good don't release.
  • Cycling: For the Sprint you will need a perfect start, with the others make sure you maintain your stamina else you will fail. Pursuit around 54 km/h is a good pace, for Scratch around 48 km/h
