How to unlock the From C to Shining C achievement in Super Street Fighter IV - Definitive Guide
this achievement can be fun, but for many will turn in to a painful boosting session. To get this achievement you need get 1000 or more battle points with EVERY character online.
You cannot rank up in tag team or endless mode. To do this achievement It will take being able to tollerate a grind of boosting, casual gaming, and in some cases mad skill.
Basically to get ONE character to C it takes 20 wins, no losses. To boost this it will take about 40-50 minutes to boost 1 character up from D to C. The way i'm doing it takes that long atleast because I am doing all the super/ultra finishes achievements on the way. The matches will go by faster if you do the same once you get the 365 flashy background finishes ach.
there will be for 35 characters a total of 700 matches you must win without losing one. average a minute twenty seconds a match lets say with loading times and the actual match, It will take you ROUGHLY 14 hours to do this for one person. That isn't likely that you will fly through it that quick as well unless you have all the best moves lodged back in your head so lets just go with 15 hours to be safe. From there you have to help your boosting partner :) so there goes another 15 hours roughly.
So think before attempting this one, make sure you really want to grind ANOTHER game for 50 points.
SUMMARY:
TIME: Roughly 15 hours for 1 person
MATCHES NEEDED: 700 wins
BORING LEVEL: 9/10
ACHIEVEMENTS YOU CAN GET WHILE GOING FOR THIS:all the 50, 100 attack type achievements and the 365 flashy background finishes along with all outfits, taunts once your done.
Good luck, you'll need it (smash tv quote)

You have made a very off estimate. It takes about more than 20 hours, and I'm not even going for the ultra and super finishes!!

You don't actually lose BP with a character until you hit rank C, so your assumption of 20 wins no losses is incorrect. You only must achieve 20 wins in ranked battles with every character (assuming you don't use that character again after you hit rank C as you may be able to lose your rank, haven't tested that).
So even if you aren't the greatest you can still grind this out and eventually get it even if you only win rarely. Obviously the better you are the faster it will come, because it is still 700 wins you need, whether you get them in 700 or 7000 matches is up to your skill.

I'm finally done with this one, so I figured I'd share what I've learned. Note this is all meant as boosting advice. If you're doing it the legit / hard way, why are you reading Solutions? Sorry if this seems anal, I tend to try and find the most efficient ways to do things.
Assuming you're below C rank, if you win against a D ranked or D+ ranked character, you only get 50 BP per win. If you win against a C rank character you get 65 - 67 per win, shaving the amount of wins needed per character from 20 to 16. The C rank character will lose 5 BP per fight (6 if the winning character had 0 BP), but I've gone as far down as 580 BP on a character and not lost my C rank. The achievement just wants C ranks, not 1000 BP per character, so you can go below the 1000 mark on a character and not worry about it messing you up.
I'm not boosting flashy finishes, but I can get a character from 0 to 650 (10 wins) in about 15 minutes (meaning ~30 minutes for 1300 BP or 1 C rank and ~270 BP on the next character) with a dedicated partner. In my opinion, the flashy finishes are better boosted with an Easy computer in 7 round arcade.
Lastly, to keep track of rounds (I do 10 rounds per player before switching), I use the stage select screen to keep track of rounds. Start on the left, below the random select (I believe it's Solar Eclipse) and each fight select the next level down and then back up the 2nd column. This will put the 10th fight on Crumbling Laboratory (the final Arcade stage). You can either repeat this pattern every10 fights, or, for variety's sake do a similar pattern on the right, starting in the top right and going down to just above the random select and then left and back up the 3rd column. Except for the last fight, move left once to put the 10th fight at Crumbling Lab again. That way you and your partner will always know that after you fight on crumbling lab, it's time to switch who's winning.

Hope this helps someone get through this. Even with this to help you, it's still a grind of an achievement. Not as bad as the trials though! At least this one is possible!

As I never found any place to confirm this, I want to post this here. You CAN get players from different editions to C and get the achievement.
I did 8 character in Arcade Edition (NOT the new 4) and then I went back to do the other 27 characters in the regular edition. I popped the achievement on my last one. I never did any of the new characters from Arcade Edition.

This achievement was very fun, because it allows you to gain an appreciation for every character in the series. It also shows you the strengths and weaknesses of each character, because when you fight that character in the future, you would know how to beat them since you played with them.
The things that helped me get through this was the following:
- Utilizing throws; most beginner players dont expect or use throws, so if they start to block a lot, use your throws.
- Using your Focus Attacks; most people can't resist jumping in with a heavy attack, so use your FA to absorb that hit and counter with the FA, and they will crumple and allow you to use your combos (or your ultra)
- Baiting out moves; after knocking the opponent down, charge up your Focus Attack over their body, and then quickly dash backward as they get up. Most of the time they will throw out an attack and leave themselves vulnerable, allowing you to punish.
- Go through a few trials before using a new character. It will show you combos and the command list for each character
- Start with the weaker characters (characters that are harder to use) first. I started with Hakan (which was actually fun), Zangief, T.Hawk, Dan, and the charge characters.
All of these factors helped me out a lot. And for those who have the Arcade Edition, Yun/Yang/E.Ryu/Oni do not count towards this achievement. I had everyone finished except Sakura and Oni, and once I finished Sakura the achievement popped (pleasant surprise).
Also, the following link gives a breakdown of each character and their strengths and weaknesses. Very helpful website:

It's "simple" - play all 35 characters in the game in ranked online matches until you have at least 1000 BP with each. Every win will get you at least 50 BP, so that's 20 wins with each, meaning you've got 700 wins ahead of you (and at around 3 minutes per match, with added time for losses and waiting for players...)
Note that this is one of the achievements from the original game, meaning you are thankfully not required to rank up Yun, Yang, Evil Ryu, or Oni.

This guide is for us late boosters in 2020s. The Cheap double boxing method. No additional games (one digital version should be ok) or live accounts needed. Only Xbox 360 and Xbox One needed.
- Setup the game and all DLC on your Xbox One
- Setup the game and all DLC on your Xbox 360. OFC you can use your second X1 if you have one
- Create dummy account which uses your Xbox one (Your main account can share games and Xbox live)
- Your dummy should start training match with fight reguest on (Number of rounds: 1, match time 30, same region, skill any)
- Now using your main account start the game on your Xbox 360 (I assume you still have one or you can buy old X360 from second hand half-free)
- Main account searches ranked match. With player base very low you should find your dummy easily. You can also use custom search options.
- Join your Dummy's lobby and press A with your both controllers to start the match. If you get message "Unable to join" then there is random challenger. Switch to your Xbox one and kick random guy and return to the training. Try searching again.
- Select character you want to boost. On xbox one you can just press A few times and match starts, no need to switch TVs.
- Your main account need 20 wins per character, few less if you dummy has D+ or C rank.
- After one match, dummy should press few time A to return to training. Main account can then search again.
- Let your dummy win one match sometimes and level it up towards C for one character. Too many wins seems to put some soft cooldown on. Also you can lose your rank if you lose too much. Few wins there and here makes sure that your dummy has C. I let my dummy win once after every 500 points. Dummy wins should be against some character already in C rank.
Its boring but you should be able to do it within few weeks. Level up one character to C every day so the boredom wont kill you.

To reach a C rank with any character you must first reach 1000 BP (Battle Points) with that character, BP can only be earned through Ranked matches so you will have to follow the set up under “Tenpeat” . Your BP will not decrease until you reach the C rank so if you so happen to not have a boosting partner you can play and lose to your heart content. On average it will take about 20 wins per character to reach the C rank.
If you need a boosting partner you can find one in this thread: Trophy Boosting Thread
Copied from Fluster Zero on TA:
This achievement can be fun, but for many will turn in to a painful boosting session. To get this you need get 1000 or more battle points with EVERY character online.
You cannot rank up in Tag Team or Endless Battle mode. To do this it will take being able to tolerate a grind of boosting, casual gaming, and in some cases mad skill.

A small addition for those who played the regular version and then switched to the Arcade Edition:
Points and ranks are calculated separately for AE and the regular version, but characters upgraded to C in the regular version do not need to be upgraded in AE. Also, the trophy does not require C ranks for new characters from AE: Oni, Evil Ryu, Yung and Yang.

The trophy takes a long time and if you do not want to hone your skills for each of the 35 fighters online, then a boost is recommended.
It's better to boost like this:
Upgrade your partner (or yourself) Seth (he has the lowest health, the battle will end faster) to level C, it will take 20 battles.
Then you upgrade yourself (or your partner) Seth against your partner’s Seth. Victory over a fighter of rank C gives 65 points instead of 50, so you will level up in 16 games.
Next, select the next characters to level up, preferably with low health, and beat Seth until he has 500-504 points, you can’t go any further. because if the number of points falls below 500, the fighter will lose rank.
Choose the next pumped up fighter to beat and continue the same pattern.
Total 35*16=560 victories for one player (564 for the second), no need for 700 victories. There are 1124 games in total.
For the lucky owners of second consoles with digital games, the scheme is almost the same, only you will have to lose about 60 times, instead of 560.
As soon as Seth from the second console has 495-499 points, you start hitting your pumped-up fighters with Seth from the second console until Seth from the second console again has rank C.
This is achieved in 8 matches. For each defeat, 5 points are deducted, which means the transition from rank C to rank D+ will be (1000-500): 5 = 100 defeats.
So, a simple calculation for those who understand mathematics: 20 + ROUND UP ((560 : 100)-1) * 8 + 35 * 16 = 620 games in total.
