This is a guide explaining how to play the game since the tutorial is terrible at explaining it. It's actually a really fun game when you understand it.
Read FF Square Enix guide for the actual solution of finding the locations.
Blue beats Green | Green beats Red | Red beats Blue.
The bottom left of your screen shows your color "mana" chart if you forget.
1.) Basic ones that simply fill you a mana of that color (limit 1 mana stored per color).
2.) Action cards that spend your collected mana to either attack the opponent (red number) or heal yourself (green number). These action cards show their color costs on the bottom of them where you'll see, for example, a small blue and red circle meaning you need to have 1 blue and 1 red mana stored from basic cards first for it's action to play; otherwise it's just another basic card. They glow when ready and will cast their actions regardless of if you win or lose the play.
If however you both play the same color, the damage instead gets stored in the onion thing and he grows bigger. Cards remain on board to show how much damage is stored. This can continue, technically the entire game if you are RNGesus but eventually someone will win a play, and at that point the onion thing will release all that damage onto the loser.

Concept
In short: It's rock, paper, scissors with a deck of 10 cards. Cards have colors and each color beats another:Blue beats Green | Green beats Red | Red beats Blue.
The bottom left of your screen shows your color "mana" chart if you forget.
Cards
There are two types of cards:1.) Basic ones that simply fill you a mana of that color (limit 1 mana stored per color).
Gameplay
Each player plays a card at the same time and your goal is to guess which color the opponent is likely to play based on probabilities with their hand vs yours as well as mana either player is likely trying to get. When both cards are played, the winning color causes the onion thing to deal 1 damage to the opponent's health (leaves). It's game over when someone runs out of health. If nobody is dead after using all cards, the player with the most health wins.If however you both play the same color, the damage instead gets stored in the onion thing and he grows bigger. Cards remain on board to show how much damage is stored. This can continue, technically the entire game if you are RNGesus but eventually someone will win a play, and at that point the onion thing will release all that damage onto the loser.
Conclusion
So now that you know how the game works, hope you find it fun strategizing probabilities! As you defeat opponents, you'll grow your card collection (menu->cards) and you can update it and edit it to your liking, which you should definitely do as there are some that are objectively better as you go.The card game in question here is called "Journey Heaven-Earth" and first unlocks by talking to a creature outside Yue's room in Mingu Sect. The rules are fairly simple, and the basic strategy boils down to playing cards where you know you can force a draw or take a win. You can often guess what card an opponent might play based on the colors in their hand and if their hero is ready to attack or not, so often it's good to play defensively.
The card win conditions are as follows:
The card win conditions are as follows:
- Red (Fire) > Blue (Ice)
- Blue (Ice) > Green (Wind)
- Green (Wind) > Red (Fire)
If you win a card duel, you will damage the opponent for one health. If you tie, that damage rolls over and you will notice the leaf creature on the table grows bigger. This becomes exponential, and I believe one tie ups the damage to two, while two ties ups it to four, and three will guarantee a win for whoever wins the next duel. I often specifically went for ties, as you can end a game quickly if you get 2-3 ties and then win a duel after. Conversely, losing the duel after a few ties will nearly ensure defeat, so the achievement name is appropriate - it's a gamble.
If your opponent has a hand full of blue and red cards, prioritze playing a red card if you have one. This will guarantee you a win or a draw on that round, while playing a green card risks losing if the opponent plays one his blues. Some of the game is down to RNG of what cards you are dealt, but you can control the majority of it with sound strategy.
The final thing to note is the hero cards. Each one requires that two elements be played before their special power becomes active. For instance, a hero card may deal two damage once powered up with a red and blue element, so you must play a red and blue card first or else the hero card is inactive and plays just like any card. You can sometimes use the heroes while inactive if you absolutely need to be defensive or even to grab a duel win after some ties, but you'll generally want to power them up first.
The opponents can all be found in the video below, at the following locations:

Once you defeat those 12 opponents, three more will show up in Mingu Sect at the fast travel location, all grouped up. Defeat these last three to unlock the achievement. You will win a new hero card from each opponent, so be sure to swap those out as you progress to always have the strongest hand possible.
