How to unlock the The Professional achievement in Syndicate - Definitive Guide

As noted in the description, this achievement requires you to perform fifty kills with each of the games weapons, excluding the non-lethal EMP Grenades. This makes a total of 900 kills that can be performed either in the campaign (level select works) or in co-op. Please note however that kill counts aren't updated until reaching a checkpoint. Your stats can be checked from the main menu by selecting Extras > Player Statistics.

Of the eighteen weapons, the UMK MKIV, TAR-39, CQC11, Kusanagi, APP3, Razorback and Bullhammer are available as loadout weapons in co-op.

The Minigun, Thermite, Swarm and LAWS-92 are carried in addition to your other two weapons and will be unable to use ammo crates whilst you have them equipped. In addition to your loadout weapons ammo crates will also provide ammo for the Electron Mace, Gauss and Riotlance. In addition to the loadout weapons, weapon racks may also contain the Minigun, Thermite, Swarm or LAWS-92.

TAR-39 Assault Rifle (TAR-39)
Starting weapon in chapters 4, 5 and 18-20 as well as being found in chapters 2, 3 and 17.

Harbinger G-290 Minigun (MINIGUN)

Found in chapter 14. In co-op it is carried by Reactive armours, though less commonly than the Minigun.

Razorback M786 Revolver (RAZORBACK)
Starting weapon in chapter 15 as well as being found in chapters 13 and 14.

SEEF-2 Fragmentation Grenade (FRAGMENTATION GRENADE)
To equip Grenades hold Y. Found in chapters 4, 10, 11, 14, 15, 17 and 19. You start all co-op maps with 2 (4 with the Beast Of Burden Chip Upgrade installed). Enemy Grenades can be breached and collected.

APP3 Pistol (APP3)
Found in chapters 1-5, 7, 8, 10, 11, 19.

Swarm Launcher (SWARM)
Found in chapter 10. Can also be found in the weapon lockers in Argentina and New England on Hard or Expert.

UMK Mark IV SMG (UMK MKIV)

Kusanagi HSR-6 Sniper Rifle (SNIPER)
Starting weapon in chapter 14 as well as being found in chapters 3, 4, 13.

LAWS-92 Rocket Launcher (LAWS-92)
Found in campaign chapter 14. Carried by Sergeants across all co-op maps. Guaranteed spawn on the landing pad at the start of the Atlantic Accelerator.

Kusanagi ACR-10 Assault Rifle (KUSANAGI)
Starting weapon in chapters 8, 11 and 18 as well as being found in chapters 1, 7, 10, 17 and 19.

EMW-56 Gauss Gun (GAUSS)
Starting weapon in chapters 4 and 19 as well as being found in chapters 2, 17 and 18. Carried by Sergeants, Liquid Armours and Electric Armours in Northern Territories, Argentina and New England.

Bullhammer Mark II Revolver (BULLHAMMER)
Found in campaign chapters 17 and 19.

Riotlance Dart Launcher (RIOTLANCE)
The Riotlance can only be found in co-op where it is carried by police in China and Scandinavia.

Mjolnir H.O.G. Automatic Shotgun (MJOLNIR)
The Mjolnir can only be found in co-op where it is carried by Sergeants and Liquid Armours in Western Europe, Mozambique and Atlantic Accelerator. Whilst ammo boxes do not contain ammo for the Mjolnir by default it is possible to restock their ammo if you also carry a CQC11.

Notable Chapters

Chapter 8 - Play through the first half of the chapter and then take the Minigiun from the Reactive Armour. There are roughly 25 kills available between obtaining the weapon and the end of the level (assuming civilian kills don't count). It's worth considering the campaign for these kills as the Minigun has infinite ammo when found in the campaign.

Chapter 10 - Play through until you defeat the Reactive Armour and collect the Swarm. Proceed into the next area and start taking out the UAVs. Whilst the UAV kills don't count, once you've destroyed enough four enemies will spawn on the catwalk. After finishing these off proceed to the next checkpoint and then exit back to the main menu. Whilst this may be slower than co-op the fact that the Swarm only spawns on two maps and also requires you to be playing on at least Hard difficulty makes it worth considering.

Chapter 14 - Play through until you have passed through the first exterior section of the chapter and re-entered the tunnels and the first enemy you encounter will be carrying a Thermite. From this point to detonating the gas tank in the next external area there will be roughly 20 enemies. Once you are outside again there will be two enemies with Riot Shields and one carrying a LAWS-92. Switching the Thermite for the LAWS-92 allows roughly 8 kills before reaching the end of the level.

Chapter 17 - At the start of the chapter unlock the Beast of Burden Chip Upgrade allowing you to carry additional Grenades. When you exit the lift there will be Grenades available to pick up at the bottom of the stairs (activate DART if you're having trouble finding them). Equip these and then throw one at the group at the top of the stairs for three or four kills. Throw a second at the group exiting the VTOL for another 3 kills. Clear out the next few waves of enemies with your preferred gun and the equip your grenades again ready for the lift opening for another two kills (the Electric Armour here will also drop a Coil). Proceed into the next room and shoot the three enemies waiting for you, pick up additional Grenades if required and then ready yourself for waves of enemies to spawn from the lifts. This should provide another 12 kills. Then just enter the security room for a checkpoint and exit back to the main menu.

EDIT: Credit to Netrodude for the information on ammo for the Mjolnir.

Great guide. Just wanted to point out that you can pick up all these weapons in co-op also and the kills count.

This is actually noted at the start of the solution in italics.

Just a side note for the 'Swarm' in chptr 10-you only need kill one UAV,just head up the gantry towards the objective & 3 guards will run out while one stays in the control you go in to leave the area.Just ran past any UAV's that spawned, killed the guards & exited the area.

You actually get 7 Swarm kills every chapter 10 run thru. The 4 guards and the 3 locks.

Please, update the solution with a few additions:

LAWS92 (standard pad controls)
Solo - coop map - Atlantic Accelerator - Normal
There are 2 LAWS92 on the landing pad at the start of the Atlantic Accelerator on normal so make your way to the first checkpoint with its missiles (to take out other LAWS92 launchers) and with melee kills (wielding any weapon and making a melee kill by pressing cn_RS, will count as a weapon kill). When you face armoured ones, switch weapon by pressing cn_Y and kill them as soon as possible. Once you get rid of the annoying one, recover the LAWS92 you dropped nearby with the previous switch by holding cn_X so you can restart melee attacks with the weapon of your choice. You can reach the second checkpoint without problems (with a full upgraded character, reboot and c2c pulse equipped, you should be safe even in bad situations). Keep in mind that you only have to pay attention to the armoured soldiers (reactive armour and spectre) which require to switch your weapon in order to be killed. Press cn_start, return to the main page and restart the whole path until you get the needed kills.

SWARM (standard pad controls)
Solo - campaign - Chapter 10 - Behind the scenes - Easy - Beast of Burden Chip Upgrade
As you start the level in the elevator, press cn_back and select Beast of Burden Chip Upgrade upon all and choose the other three as you wish.
Same story as the guide but this time, when you take out the armoured one, be sure you are wielding 2 weapons to make this technique working and then grab (by holding cn_X) the SWARM. Enter the building and go straight to the room with another SWARM on the wall, place yourself in the middle, turn left (so you have the door at your back) and press cn_Y to switch weapons. This action ensures your weapon will be dropped over the door you are going to cross but remember to take the SWARM from the wall before leaving the room. After the checkpoint you should have 2 SWARM available (1 wielded and 1 on the floor) so keep your distance from the grounded one in order to avoid unintentional ammo refill and go straight up the stairs and the catwalk to kill 3 guards and the security system's operator (you have 4 kills with the SWARM). Switch off the panel and go recharge your SWARM (you should have 36/144 on the display). After the first recharge, return to the security control room you just left. As previously done, turn left, place yourself halfway the seats and the door, and press cn_Y to switch weapon (dropping the one you were wielding, within the room's borders ). If the weapon isn't well placed, recover it and repeat the action making sure you don't cross the threshold because you'll be trapped in that room. Once your first SWARM is in the room, hurry up, go recover the other one and go back into the room you just left the weapon. You'll be asked to place your SWARM in order to go further but fortunately you had 2 and you can take the other, fully-charged, one and go kill at least 17 people. (17+4=21 kills/run) When you reach the checkpoint after the air duct, press cn_start, return to the main page and restart the whole path until you're done. This method is fastest than it seems; there are more words than things to do. I did it 3 times and now I'm done with this achievement.

Great tip Nupra. Swarm launcher is a beast in co-op so shouldn't challenge anyone. However trying to find the heavy shotgun.

Good guide. For the Laws-92 I just melee'd everyone with it on Alantic Accelorator while my team healed me. I got 24 per run with it easily. Also unlocked before I finished off the Riotlance (Only had 38) +1 laugh

for anyone doing this in 2020. For swarm, use Argentina on NORMAL it doesn't spawn every time but it will spawn at first locker by glass doors if it does. and you can farm thermite kills while doing this as well. a lot less frustrating than the awful campaign methods. Plus its just about impossible to die running pulse + reboot. use single fire mode and you'll have more than enough enemies to get it in a single go

BTW for Argentina, if the launcher does not spawn in the locker, get killed and respawn at that checkpoint, there is a chance it appears in the locker. I did this to get it to re-appear. After that point I got 89 kills over the next 2 checkpoints.

I just got it with Riotlance at only 6 kills. Maybe try that one last also.

I swear I read Nupra79's comment three times and didn't get the key part - melee with LAWS-92 = LAWS-92 kill (ie. don't need to shoot). It's there and I'm probably just stupid, but figure I should just say it again out loud for emphasis. 😅

EDIT: FYI, I got ~55 LAWS-92 kills in one run (stopping before the boss fight with the four agents). Probably possible to get 60+. Also, Spectres don't seem to be melee-able so I recommend carrying Mjolnir+CQC for them.

Bunch of my kills in coop haven't tracked. Not sure if this is a common issue.

I know they only save at a checkpoint but I've done all normal missions + 2 on hard and my kill count is like 60 odd kills total according to weapons which definitely isn't right

Based on your guide these are the only co op only weapons. Is that correct?

Loadout/Drops in Co-Op:
UMK MKIV
TAR-39
CQC11
Kusanagi
APP3
Razorback
Bullhamer

Drops only:
RLX-240 Electron Mace (ELECTRON MACE) (Colorado/China/Scandanavia)
Riotlance Dart Launcher (RIOTLANCE) (China/Scandanavia)
Mjolnir H.O.G. Automatic Shotgun (MJOLNIR)

Unobtainable due to Server Closure

You need to kill 50 enemies with each of the following weapons. Your kills across the Campaign & Co-Op modes are both counted towards this, and your progress can be tracked in the Main Menu > Extras > Player Statistics menu:

  • TAR-39 "TAR39" (Rifle) - Default weapon available for selection in your Co-Op Loadout, and commonly found in almost every Co-Op Map
  • Minigun "Harbinger G-290" (Unique weapon - Chaingun) - Commonly found in most encounters with reactive armor enemies
  • CQC11 "Castellano CQC-11" (Shotgun) - Default weapon available for selection in your Co-Op Loadout and commonly found in almost every Co-Op Map
  • Electron Mace "RLX-420 Electron Mace" (Unique weapon - Electroshock Gun) - Found equipped by enemy Sergeants in the Colorado, China and Scandinavia Co-Op Maps. Shoots a stream of lighting that stuns and injures the target for as long as the trigger is held.
  • Coil "Laser Rifle" (Unique weapon) - Equipped by enemy Sergeants in the Colorado, China and Scandinavia Co-Op Maps.
  • Thermite "LTB-P" (Unique Weapon - Flamethrower) - Usually equipped by reactive armor enemies on higher difficulties on Mozambique, Argentina, and New England Co-Op Maps.
  • Razorback "M786 Revolver" (Handgun) - Default secondary weapon available for selection in your Co-Op Loadout
  • Frag Grenades - You start each Co-Op level with 2 Grenades, which can be upgraded to 4.
  • APP3 (Handgun) - Default secondary weapon available for selection in your Co-Op Loadout
  • Swarm (Unique weapon - Missile Launcher) - A rare weapon only found on Argentina and New England Co-Op Maps on hard or expert difficulty. On Argentina, there is a chance that enemy units with this weapon will appear after activating the 2nd Gate Control/Checkpoint where the glass panels slide open leading to the section with trees. On New England, enemy units appearing at the top of buildings in the starting area and subsequent section after the first Checkpoint will normally have this. The corridor after the first reactive armor fight may also have a chance to spawn enemy soldiers with this weapon
  • UMK MKIV "UMK Mark IV" (SMG) - Default weapon available for selection in your Co-Op Loadout.
  • Sniper "Kusanagi HSR-6" (Sniper Rifle) - Default weapon available for selection in your Co-Op Loadout. Can perform Penetration kills.
  • LAWS-92 (Rocket Launcher) - Can be found in Western Europe in the room where you deactivate a turret, or dropped by enemies on Hard difficulties in various maps.
  • Kusanagi "Kusanagi ACR-10" (Rifle) - Default weapon available for selection in your Coop Loadout. Can perform Penetration kills by completing research for secondary fire.
  • Gauss "EMW-56 Gauss Rifle" (Rifle) - Usually equipped by electro armor enemies in the Northern Territories, Argentina and New England Coop Maps.
  • Bullhammer (Handgun) - Default secondary weapon available for selection in your Coop Loadout
  • Riotlance (Electrodarts) - Commonly equipped by standard enemy soldiers in China, and Scandinavia on any difficulty. Shoots electric darts that stuns a target temporarily.
  • Mjolnir (Shotgun) - Commonly equipped by Sergeants in Western Europe, Mozambique and Atlantic Accelerator on hard or expert difficulty.

It's possible to do just about everything in single player (aside from Electron Mace and Riot Lance it seems), but if you have the option to play online, coop is a way, way better choice to efficiently get kills for these weapons. You will probably take care of most of the kills for these weapons during single player, the rest of which you can mop up during coop.

  • TAR-39 Assault Rifle
Found throughout the campaign. Loadout weapon in coop.
  • G290 Minigun
Found a few points during the campaign with unlimited ammo. Reactive armors carry them in coop.
  • CQC11 Shotgun
Cayman Global troops carry this in campaign. Loadout weapon in coop.
  • RXL-240 Electron Mace
Aspari sergeants tend to use this in coop mode. Colorado will have a few, so will China and Scandinavia.
  • COIL Laser Rifle
In the last few levels of campaign. In coop, sergeants and above will have them in Colorado, China, Scandinavia.
  • LTB Thermite Flamethrower
Found in Downzone during campaign. Reactive armors will have them in coop. Can be found in coop in wall weapon boxes (like the first ammo box room of Colorado on hard).
  • Razorback Revolver
Can be found in Downzone in campaign. Loadout weapon for coop.
  • Fragmentation Gernade
Loadout weapon. You switch to it by holding . You get them in the campaign mostly by disarming enemies, but in coop you always start with a full load of them.
  • APP3 Pistol
Found throughout campaign. Loadout weapon for coop.
  • SWARM Rocket Launcher
Found during the first chapter for Cayman Global. However, grinding kills with it is inefficient there. In coop, the SWARM can be found on Argentina and New England in wall boxes, and dropped by sergeants. 50 kills is more than manageable with the SWARM in coop in just one run, if you find one.
  • UMK MkIV SMG
Found in Downzone for campaign. Loadout weapon for coop.
  • Kusanagi HSR-6 Sniper Rifle
Can be found in campaign sparingly. Loadout weapon for coop.
  • LAWS-92 Rocket Launcher
Rare in campaign. In coop, on hard or above, they are all over the place. Western Europe on hard alone has 4-6 easily obtainable ones being held by sergeants.
  • Kusanagi ACR-10 Assault Rifle
In campaign, Cayman Global carry these. Loadout weapon in coop.
  • EMW-56 Gauss Gun
Can be found a few times in campaign. In coop, Eurocorp and Aspari sergeants will have these.
  • Bullhammer Mark II Revolver
Downzone in campaign. Loadout weapon in coop.
  • Riotlance
China and Scandinavia are the best levels to get this on coop. The cops will drop these throughout the level. If you haven't upgraded the weapon, you might want to wait until you do; it's rather weak, and it's alternate fire really helps in getting kills.
  • Mjolnir H.O.G. Assault Shotgun
Cayman Global sergeants drop this in coop. Western Europe on hard is a great level to farm this one.
