How to unlock the Big Game Hunter achievement in The Callisto Protocol - Definitive Guide
Edit: Do not activate the perks in the starting room on subsequent plays as it may make all Riot DLC achievements unobtainable for you. I was able to fix this by uninstalling and reinstalling the game as well as a hard reset of my console.
If you died on your first attempt you’ll have upgrades unlocked (depending on score) which include having health increase by 4% each wave, getting a shotgun shell for each enemy killed with a shotgun, and getting ammo for every item you buy. Go ahead and equip those 3 and get the Skunk Gun and Riot Gun as quick as you can and it’ll be close to having infinite ammo. When I finished my second run I had several hundred rounds for both, 50,000 credits, and over 10 med kits/GRP.
- In this mode you can only carry one primary (Riot Shotgun or Assault Rifle) and one secondary (Hand Cannon, Skunk Gun, or crappy useless pistol). For that reason upgrade the riot shotgun and hand cannon your first play through and stick with those weapons. They are the cheapest and most effective options. If you buy another weapon you’ll lose all of your accumulated ammo.
- You'll want to spend most of your time on the second floor of the main room. The room has spike traps and you’ll quickly memorize the spawns. The only time you should leave is to go to a buy box or for an objective. From wave 40 onward I would not recommend leaving at all. If you get caught in a narrow hallway during one of the waves of all suicide exploding monsters that can end your run.
- The main dangers you’ll face during this is the security unit and two head enemies. Unlike the campaign neither can insta kill you but there are several waves where multiple spawn and it’s possible for them to stun lock you until you die if you get attacked by multiple at once. Two heads appear on waves 20, 30, 40, 42, 44, and 50. On waves 40, 44, and 50 two may spawn in at once along with a security bot. I ended up getting caught between all three of them and was was stuck in the dodge animation until I died without being able to move or fire.
- The new rampage mechanic allows you to insta kill anything while it’s active and is most effective when used at the start of a round or when getting swarmed. It’s important to make sure you have it ready prior to any rounds with a two head or you’ll end up draining a significant amount of ammo. This is especially true for rounds with multiple two heads.
- Don't bother with the traps. They’re a very easy way for you to insta kill yourself, expensive, and don’t work well.
- Conserve your ammo as best you can for larger enemies. If you face a security bot or two face with no ammo it’ll basically be game over. When you initially get your weapons upgraded you’ll have a lot but the only way to get more is to rebuy the final upgrade for the weapon or complete objectives. when you complete an objective it will give you ammo for whatever weapon you have equipped.
- initially spend your money getting your GRP and Stun Baton upgraded because you shouldn’t be using guns at all in the early rounds. The higher you go more medgel and GRP recharge packs will cost and it’s beneficial to stock up on those medgels early on if you can
- The side objectives vary wildly in value. Some like get the next 4 purchases refunded can potentially be worth 20,000 credits and be easy while others can be difficult and only reward 100 credits. Pick and choose which you want to pursue but I don’t think they will make a significant impact on your run.

After the first game I activated the bonuses and it stopped tracking all the achievements as well as not unlocking anything. I recommend not activating because I had to literally close the game to get it working again. I think it's related to the bonuses you activate.

It's not that difficult to get through. We have a lot of health. We simply pump in a baton, a machine gun and a pistol as desired. Then you can only spend money on first aid kits. I hardly used the glove. We try to complete tasks that kill the enemy as a bonus. But this is optional. We use rampage more often + . After the first death (PS. Died on the first wave and the modifiers did not open. You need to live longer. Most likely after 5-10 waves), you can select up to 3 modifiers in the starting location, which will make the game even easier. The most useful in my opinion: damage reduction by 10%, healing on reload and the third hit deals triple damage.

One rule if you want to pass the first time - do not turn on the traps.

I completed it twice on PS4 and 5 and passed it both times on the first try. 50 waves will take from 2 to 2.5 hours. Passed without a single mod. At wave 50, 50,000 credits had still accumulated and there was nowhere to spend them.
1- in the first waves, do not spend credits; there is a prize for this.
2- the very first thing that is better to spend money on is a baton for max. and the glove to the max, so that later you don’t have to climb or look for where these improvements are located (this mode is partially similar to a labyrinth).
3- then download to max the police d-k and single-shot pistol (with them, all 50 waves lasted, there were still spare cartridges left).
4- for myself, the best place for defense was a dining room with two fans and a fire (it’s easy to hold all 50 waves there). The trump card in this room is the distribution stand, if two-headed rods can jump over it, and two-headed ones go around it for a long time, and a thick column behind which you can hide from shots helps a lot from robots.
The 5-charge on the glove was used only on crawling kamikazes.
6- kill all the standard opponents, and push the two-headed ones into the fan to save ammo.
7- boost mode, starting from wave 30, keep it for a critical case (this mode kills everyone with one hit or shot).
8 - a baton pumped to the maximum causes a lot of damage to opponents; it is better to use it more often, and leave the cartridges when robots and spitters are clamping down.
9- starting from the 15th wave, when temporary tests appear where you need to run and look for something, DO NOT run away from the dining room because you start to split into two and find something you need to kill your opponents (increases the chance of death).
10 - on wave 51, you can get into the fan to lose your life faster.

The ideal place for grinding waves is a corridor with a red light with two chests, one of which contains an upgrade for Skunk. Most of the enemies come from one side and are easy to shoot. you can wait for the robots from around the corner and knock them out in one shot (very useful when the four of them were leaving, again, from the same door. A first aid kit for 650 is within reach - there is clearly enough time between waves to run, buy and return . Thanks to this location, I got the necessary perks the first time - ammo for killing with a shotgun, reducing damage by 10%, the third time doesn’t matter at all (I took +2000 credits for shooting a robot.
