How to unlock the Broken Friendship achievement in The Chant - Definitive Guide
On my YouTube channel I've created a gameplay walkthrough video covering Chapter 2 of this game.
While progressing through chapter 2 you will compete the unmissable trophy Light at the End of the Tunnel for escaping to the cannery. In the video this is covered from the 3:20 second mark where I enter the building (went exploring first ) to the 8 minute mark where I cross a wood walkway. You can run straight through the cave system past any threats that appear.
Once you get to the cannery the first obstacle you must overcome is getting a fuse to power the light so you can get through the darkness blocking your path past the building. The fuse is behind a flower enemy in the back room of this building. This is an unmissable Mandacore. You need to defeat 15 for an achievement.
After getting the fuse you'll be attacked by your first cultist. You can either defeat them or dodge them (there's an achievement for not killing any in a playthrough and one for defeating 40, pick your poison).
Once past this your search for Kim continues. You get a peek at her as you pass a window. To get to her you'll need to pass through a door that needs a special key made of 3 geometric metal pieces. This is in the back/basement area of the door ahead to your left. One metal piece is at the top of a ladder to the 2nd floor of the building Kim's in guarded by 2 cultists. You get a new stasis ability that will stun enemies for a very short duration. Unless you have a lot of incense it's best to head in, use this new ability, snatch the metal piece, dodge the now moving cultists, and slip back out. Another is unguarded this building that has the door in the back I previously described. The 3rd is on a boat at the end of the dock nearby. The door to get to this boat is locked. The key is behind the building with metal piece #2. I spotted a cultist heading into our target building after picking up the piece from the dock, but he wasn't there when I went back.
You have 2 fights ahead of you now. The first after you go through the geometric metal piece door is against 3 of the flowery enemies, 1 Mandacore and 2 flying flowers. If your mental state goes down too far you can duck back under the log to the start of this area to calm down. You can't attack while having a panic attack so this may be required. I forgot the stasis ability. It could make the fight a bit easier, so give it a try if you're having trouble. The second could be considered your first boss fight (maybe?), but it isn't too tough. Hit the enemy until their near one of the 3 candles along the sides of the room. You'll get a prompt to hit . Do this 3 times. Next you'll have to do this same thing, but the goal is getting them near the mirror in the corner.
