How to unlock the No Escaping Fate achievement in The Dark Pictures Anthology: Little Hope - Definitive Guide

After a lot of testing I have found a foolproof solution to getting this to unlock.

It is important to note that saving everyone throughout the playthrough and simply letting Mary be accused and have everyone die at the house this way, DOES NOT WORK for some reason.

I adapted this playthrough from my "Salvation" playthrough and still managed to make it work. So it appears these are the ONLY conditions that matter when attempting this.

To set this up you NEED to condemn your characters BEFORE the finale, as this marks the characters as "Not Saved" (for example if you meet the conditions for saving a character for the first time you will unlock their respective achievement right then and there before the finale, this is not what we want).
- For Angela and/or John you can also have them perish outside the house during "Heavy Burden" this DOES COUNT.

Deliberatly pick the following options to get characters killed in the finale:
Throughout the game, be nice to Vince as all characters, if you spook Vince he will get Andrew arrested in the finale which prevents Andrew from killing himself
In "Off Track" keep the gun as Andrew, the amount of bullets you use DOES NOT matter
In "Reflections" pick Fearful as Taylor when fighting her Demon
In "Ruined" pick Reckless as Daniel when being pulled up by Andrew
In "Heavy Burden" pick Resentful as Angela when deciding to hurry John along OR fail the QTE's and have her Demon kill her at the house
In "Heavy Burden" pick Fearful as John when holding the door OR fail the QTE's and have his Demon kill him at the house
In "Full Circle" condemn Mary either by picking options that lead to her conviction OR by saying nothing, either works here

Nothing else regarding their Bearings will matter in this case, the above is all you need to do here. *See below

Condemning Mary will then have all characters except Andrew die at the hands of their Demons, and Andrew will shortly after kill himself with the gun.

NOTE: If you pick "Burn the Poppet" during Full Circle, Andrew will NOT kill himself and lead to the "Fate Worse Than Death" achievement

Achievement will pop after the House of Ashes teaser.

*EDIT*: People are mentioning this is not working for them, others are mentioning it does, most likely cause is some characters are marked as saved through other means, and the choices above just weigh very heavily on the outcome. Will update when more concrete information comes through.

Comment if I have missed anything crucial, these were the exact conditions I had to meet to make this unlock.

I did this earlier today and I can confirm doing those steps will get you the achievement.

Yeah, this doesn’t work for me either. I’ve tested nearly every variation I could think of earlier today and this was already one of them. There has to be something earlier in the playthrough that also affect this somehow

I edited the solution to mention killing Angela/John outside the house. Noteworthy I so far have never burned the poppet in the museum, if more people have experience with burning the poppet in the museum to confirm it i'll add it

You also HAVE to be nice to Vince. I had fulfilled all of the requirements for getting every other character killed at the house, but I had been rude to Vince at the church and didn't open the door for him, and at the end the police arrest Andrew and that overrides the suicide ending. I reloaded from the Surrounded chapter and this time opened the door to talk to Vince and asked him for help, otherwise did everything else the same, and that time at the end he came up and forgave Andrew and then after he walks away is when Andrew finally shoots himself. However, for some reason this only unlocked the "no one lives" achievement for me. I killed Angela and John by just failing all of their QTEs outside, so maybe letting them die outside does not count after all? I'm going to try again with passing the QTEs but selecting the selfish dialogue and see if that gets them killed inside the house to pop the achievement. Will report back...

A person dying outside definitely still counts because like I said, I got the achievement even with Angela dying outside. I did make sure to select the Resentful option as her though

Update: Ok finally popped it after getting Angela and John killed INSIDE the house...passing their QTEs outside, selecting the "I'm not waiting for you" option as Angela outside, then the "help me" option as John when he's barricading the door. So maybe John is the tipping point? Maybe this achievement is really about whether or not each character has been selfish and pleaded for help, and since John's opportunity for that doesn't come until he gets inside the house, you can't unlock it by just letting him die outside by failing the QTEs? Or this achievement is just dumb and buggy lol.

This worked perfectly for me. Followed the guide and I had them all die in the house, after activating the responses mentioned above. Also, you know if Andrew is going to kill himself because The Curator (Death) appears in the garden when he slumps to his knees.

Do you know if this can be paired with an all heart decisions playthrough? All the "Help Me" choices are hearts right?

I just finished my heart playthrough in movie night and it does condemn everyone, but I chose to always say nothing when two head options appeared, leading to Angela's death on the shore. I personally have not looked into what happens if you pick a head option when there are no heart options, so if it lets you pick head options when there are no heart options it would work in theory.

Yes, picking head options when there are two is still good for a all heart playthrough. That's why the sentence on the pause screen mentions at the end that you've only picked hearts "Where possible". Also Daniel's "help me" option is the only one that isn't a heart iirc, but in that case both are head options, so it's fine to pick either as I said as it won't affect the heart playthrough.

Idk why but in all of my playthroughs, John always managed to stay alive, even when I chose "help me" option as when he was barricading the door. Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong and why he keeps staying alive?

Make john fail All qte's when fighting last demon outside the house. Demon will kill him.

By Eds Killerbox 7 on 06 Nov 2020 13:59
I just tried it again but the demon could not kill him either cause Andrew always save him even when I fail all of the QTEs.

I feel the game forces the player have someone beside Andrew for the final chapter. When I save Angela, John dies simply with failing a QTE or choosing "Help me" dialogue inside the house. However, when I let Angela die, John does not die no matter how many QTE I fail or even choose "Help Me" dialog.

Letting Angela die at end house does seem to save john. I'm not sure both can die outside house, wouldn't when I tried. Killing Angela saves john. I thought you just wanted to kill john, in which case saving Angela and failing last qte will kill him.

Failing John's qte's and letting him die outside the house (after Angela chose to run away) voided the achievement. Playing level again I completed John's qte's and chose fearful while holding the door. The achievement popped. This to me, was because until john chooses fearful while holding the door, he's not yet damned.

If you make a mistake on this I've managed to get the acheivement rewarded by loading the game, going scene selection & choosing overwrite. So a mistake right at the end doesn't mean you need to replay the whole thing :)

Didn't work for me when I killed off John and Angela outside the Ruined house. the way I did it was to choose every scared/selfish dialogue and all 4 died after condemning Mary.

Yeah, that's what I did when john died outside last house. The last game would make you finish the playthrough before letting you choose scene selection. This one fortunately seems to let you do it whenever. Very handy ..lol

So I used all 4 bullets before the epilogue and when Andrew went to shoot himself, the gun clicked and he survived. I was afraid that this would void the achievement but I can confirm that as long as everyone dies within the house (whilst damned) and Andrew attempts suicide - successful or not - the achievement will pop.

Cheers

Alright, apparently I somehow managed to get it in my “all hearts decisions” playthrough, but it did not go down the way you had it. I indeed picked for everyone to not confront their demons, but since I was doing heart options, I was not able to save Angela as John outside the house as saving her is a head option, so she ended up dying outside the ruined house. I sentenced Mary to death in the final flashback and everyone else was killed in the house and then Andrew killed himself at the end.

So it seems everyone just has to die in this final sequence and not necessarily during that last cutscene where the house collapses and everyone gets killed inside. Because I was doing all heart decisions too, I didn’t end up burning the poppet at the museum, while I did in the previous playthrough I tried this in. Maybe that’s somehow a factor in this achievement? I can’t think of anything else I really did much differently from the previous playthrough I tried this in. What a confusing achievement.

Achievement Requirements:

1. Grab the gun
2. Be nice to Vince
3. Avoid "Saving" your characters
4. Keep them "Alive"
5. Condemn Mary in the final chapter and let everyone die in the house
6. I "think" you should keep at least one bullet to let Andrew shoot himself at the end but I cannot confirm this. Just to be safe, keep one bullet.

I will explain each step as clearly as I can since the achievement description is pretty confusing already.

----------------------------------------------------

1. Grab the gun

In "Off Track" when you approach the cabin, complete the heartbeat mini game in order to be able to enter the cabin. Then find the gun and keep it as Andrew.

----------------------------------------------------

2. Be nice to Vince

- Do not accept the drink in the bar.
- Do not shoot the demon behind Vince in chapter "Surrounded"
- Successfully complete the QTEs and heartbeat mini games whenever the group mistake Vince for a demon
- Open the door for Vince in the church and ask him for help to get out of the town. Do not say anything weird and confusing to him. Just try to act sane. If he think that you are insane or crazy, he will call the police and arrest you at the end of the game.

----------------------------------------------------

3. Avoid "Saving" your characters

Okay, here is the main reason behind many people failing to unlock this achievement. The achievement description is pretty confusing. There are three conditions for the characters in this game : Alive / Dead / Saved

You already know what Alive and Dead means. So I will get straight to the definition of "Saved" condition. The story of these characters is about them facing their demons (fears), confronting them, and then defeating them. In other words, by FACING their fears instead of being frightened by them (running away, begging for help, etc) they will be "SAVED". They need to be brave and have heroic character traits to fight their demon and get "Saved". For this achievement, however, you have to AVOID GETTING SAVED. You should keep each character "ALIVE" but "NOT SAVED". I know it's a little bit confusing but I hope with this explanation you understand. Alive and Saved are two different things in this game. So whenever a character face his/her demon, do these:

1. Beg for help from the other characters
2. Complete the QTEs correctly to keep the character alive
3. Condemn Mary in the final chapter to let everyone die in the house and have Andrew committing suicide (shooting himself)

Question! Can I both avoid saving them AND kill them during the game? I don't know. I cannot confirm this because I did not try it. But I CAN CONFIRM that if you avoid saving them but keep them alive and then let them die INSIDE THE HOUSE, you will unlock this achievement. So just keep them alive to be safe.

----------------------------------------------------

How to avoid saving each character?

In each encounter with the demons, simply ask for help and then complete the QTEs. This way your character will be damned (Not Saved), but you will still keep them alive for the final chapter.

Angela

Taylor

Daniel

John

So now all of them are alive but they are also damned/not saved. In "Full Circle" condemn Mary for witchcraft. I guess there are two dialogs to choose, first you should say there is something wrong with the town, then you should say Mary is evil.

Keep them alive. Prevent them from doing anything brave or gain heroic character traits. Do not "save" them. Have them all die inside the house. Then the achievement will pop :)

Please leave a comment if I made a mistake in my guide. I am not a expert in writing guides and I'm a beginner. So I apologize in advance if there was anything wrong with my guide.

Great guide...covers just about everything. Would just like to mention, don't let john die outside the house. Until he chooses fearful whilst holding the door, he isn't damned. Angela can die outside, providing she has chosen to run from john. Thankyou.

In order to get this ending, a few things will need to happen. Obviously all of the playable characters will need to survive until the end of the game, but you'll also need to make sure that none of them have the traits that will save them from dying. The easiest way of achieving this is to combine this with your Heart playthrough, and choose to fight with the other characters whenever possible. Basically the worse person you are, the better chance you have of dying.

There are four instances related to each character's monster where you will need to choose the selfish or cowardly option. This prevents that character from being "saved," an important step for this trophy. The four instances are:

1. Taylor needs to beg Daniel to save her while being dragged away outside the factory
2. Daniel needs to panic while being pulled out of the hole in the factory, causing Andrew to fall.
3. Angela needs to be selfish during the conflict outside the ruined house, instead of urging John to run
4. John needs to beg for help while holding the door shut in the ruined house

The final two steps involve Vince and Mary. Things with Vince need to be left in a good way after the church, so if you do fire your gun at him, either let him in the church or convince him to go for help. The goal with Mary is to blame her for the trouble in the past, so the final flashback should end with her being burnt alive.

If you do all of these things, the game will end with everyone dead, and the trophy is yours.

To do this, when demons attack the heroes, you need to choose the right answers. Taylor will be attacked first, I don’t remember exactly the name of the chapter, towards the end. When Daniel runs after him, you need to choose the answer: save me. Next Daniel, when he falls after pushing the box and Andrew holds out a piece of iron, I don’t remember the answer, but you need to choose the left answer so that the two of them fall. When John takes a sledgehammer and starts fighting back, Angela should run away, also the left answer, I won’t wait or something like that. When the demon grabs her, John must help her. When they enter the house and John closes the door, the answer option is save me. Mary must be executed, and Andrew must have a revolver.

Incorrect trophy description, not everyone has to die.
A prerequisite for the trophy is to shoot the monster near the church next to a city resident. Everyone must die in the end except Andrew! The last stage should be carried out strictly as in 1 comment.

If the heroes fought the demons on their own and survived, but after Mary was burned they all died anyway, the trophy will not drop.

The first clue is absolutely correct. The rest is either a gag (or other options). I got it exactly as the first clue said.

In my version, I had a revolver. There were bullets in it. I did NOT shoot Vince outside the church. I asked him for help (Andrew opened the door and talked to him). In the end he blamed Mary and Andrew shot himself.

Maybe this trophy also drops if Andrew remains alive - I haven't checked that. But in the above scenario this is combined with the "everyone died" trophy

Wrong statement, this trophy does not fit with the trophy where everyone must die. Everyone in my house died, and Andrew shot himself, the trophy didn’t come up, only “This dream is your enemy” came up. Well, actually this is logical, because... These are two completely different endings. I had to replay the game from the moment in front of the church, I had to shoot at the monster near the church, and just in case, I spent all my ammo during the game. Because replaying the last chapter, burning the doll or blaming the Priest did not help, Angela left the house with me for some reason (although she asked for help under the bridge), and three died in the house. For this reason, it is most likely necessary to execute the girl anyway and so that Andrew does not have a chance to kill himself.

I did everything as in the first tip (I didn’t shoot at Vince, I asked him for help). In the end, I received a trophy only for “No One Lived.” I replayed the penultimate scene, but no longer helping Angela - the trophy fell out! Although it turns out that the conditions for him were not fully met (Angela died in the courtyard of the house).

Besides, there must be bullets in the revolver, and we treated Vince courteously, otherwise Andrew will survive

I did it as in the first tip. Everyone died in the house except Andrew; the police took him and didn’t give him a trophy.
Then, in another version of the passage, he did not be rude to the black man, everything else was the same. I got both at once, everyone died and you can’t escape fate.

If you fail the QTE that comes after Andrew/Angela hits John's monster, then "helping" Angela will become "heart" rather than "brain". Therefore, you can combine “everyone dies” and “all decisions follow the call of the heart” with the trophy.

Today I tried to combine “No One Lived” with the gold trophy: everyone died in the house, and Andrew shot himself.
The gold fell out, but this trophy did not.
There is only one conclusion: you may have a bug and when you combine the endings, the trophy will not fall out.

The game has 4 states of the main characters at the end of the game. Saved, not saved, died, survived.
By salvation we mean: did our hero overcome his sins during the battle with his demon. For the trophy, it is necessary that our heroes cannot defeat their demons, but at the same time survive until the very end, where we will spank them all =), i.e. everyone must end up in a state of not being saved, not surviving.
Each will have one decisive encounter with the demon.

All actions take place in Act 5.
Abandoned building: When, after the demon attack on Taylor, Daniel catches up with her, choose “Fear” for Taylor. Then we survive.
Factory: Playing as Daniel, when hanging on the pipe, select “Recklessness”. Then we survive.
In the backyard of the house: When John is attacked, Playing as Angela, select "Annoyance". After which, playing as John, you must save Angela! Then we survive.
In the backyard of the house: Once inside the house, John will be at the door and will be holding it. Select "Fear".
We burn Mary in the finale.

This trophy can be combined with "This Dream is Your Enemy".

If the game has already been completed, then you need to select “Reflections” in the list of scenes.

The sequence has been verified (after the happy ending). However, if combined with "This dream is your enemy", then it is better to play a little earlier with "Surrounded" and calmly talk to Vince in the church. If you quarrel with him, you won’t be able to reconcile.
