How to unlock the That's something, I suppose achievement in The Dark Pictures Anthology: Man Of Medan - Definitive Guide
Brad, Alex, Julia, Conrad, and Fliss are the characters you need to keep alive for this achievement.
This guide is spoilered as it goes through each chapter where you can possibly get a character killed, and how to avoid this. In general, you don't want to fail QTEs - the timer for these can be turned off (single player only) in the Accessibility settings.
I'd recommend going for this achievement *not* on your first playthrough, so you can familiarise yourself with the sections and whatnot.
THEATRICAL CUT GUIDE:
CURATOR'S CUT GUIDE:
If you've followed this all correctly, all your characters should be alive and the achievement should unlock post-credits. Please let me know if you come across any edge cases that I've missed out.
Achievement complete!

You need to be more clear regarding the locker with the gas mask in it as Brad. I just went through the Brad section and didn't see any lockers anywhere.

I let Conrad escape on the speedboat and still got the achievement by keeping everybody else alive. Didn't get the gas mask either because Brad boarded the ship with the others.

Here's some hints and tips. The walkthrough here on TA has a great play by play to also get this achievement. The easiest way to insure this is to keep everyone alive and
-Do not let Julia surface without decompressing. If she surfaces too fast there will be fatal consequences later.
-If you don't have Conrad escape on the speedboat, do not antagonize the pirates as him or they might kill you.
-If you can, have Conrad escape early on the speed boat, as there are lots of places for him to die on the ghost ship. (If he DOES escape on the boat DO NOT save the distributor cap, get stuck and let Conrad rescue you. If you leave the ghost ship he will come back alone and die.)
-While running from Olson as Julia in Chapter 22 if you miss the two QTEs after jumping over the boxes (following the walkthrough) Alex dies and YOU CAN NOT just quit to dashboard it automatically saves and you're screwed! (Thanks to DevilInMyEyes for this info!)
-If playing as Conrad while running away from the sailor girl, hit all QTEs, missing some can cause him to fall and die. Do not hide behind the desk, keep going. When climbing up the ladder again hit all QTEs or he will fall. Once on the plank choose to confront the sailor girl, do not jump or he will die.
-RADIO THE MILITARY. When you radio the Military you will either tell them the name of the ship or not. if you DO tell them the NAME OF SHIP then they will show up and kill anyone on board. If you DO NOT tell them the name of the ship and just say your coordinates and "freighter" then they will show up and rescue you alive. If you had Conrad escape earlier than he will show up to rescue anyone on the ship before the military does no matter what you say to them.
-When managing Junior pointing his gun at you. Be kind and curious, do not say anything that will upset him, assure him you did not inhale the mist, and do grab the gun. (Curious -> Worried -> Desperate) If you have the rebreather you can calm him down, but chances are you don't. He will always shoot twice, if his first shot if out into the cargo bay then you did it right.
-If you sent Brad and Julia/Fliss down the hole you will have a scene "Matter of the Heart" with Alex and Fliss/Julia. In this scene it is important you SAVE the distributor cap if Conrad is part of your crew. This will let everyone escape on the Duke unharmed. If Conrad escaped on the speedboat earlier then DO NOT save the distributor cap, he will save you. (If you do not save the distributor cap and you have Conrad in your crew then the team may split up, deciding to stay on the ship or test their luck on the Duke. I'm not sure if this equates character death or not. So I recommend always saving the distributor cap unless Conrad escaped earlier.)
- DISTRUBUTOR CAP (Thanks to gomofob for commenting) "The gang fixed the Duke and sailed away, then Conrad came to the empty ship, but I still got this achievement." So it sounds like you may not need to save the distributor cap, your choice really.
-Also in "Matters of the Heart" as Alex, do not stab anyone when the time comes. Just wait the timer out.
-If Conrad is with you AND you sent Alex and Julia down the hole then the "Matters of the Heart" scene will not happen, instead you will get a scene ("Olsen") with Conrad helping Alex & Julia escape being chased by Olsen. Conrad can die here so be sure to hit those QTEs, especially when struggling with the roll up door.
Again these are more of guidelines and tips than a play by play. Hope these tips help you! Let me know if I missed a spot where a character can die, the game truly does seem to have some actual variety of outcomes and I'm not sure I experienced all of them.

The gang fixed the Duke and sailed away, then Conrad came to the empty ship, got "spooked" by the zombie (died?), but I still got this achievement.

Like Until Dawn, Man of Medan challenges you to get various endings:
- All dead Not a sole survivor
- All alive That's something, I suppose
- Only men alive Right there with ya, boys
- Only women alive Girls' night out
If you followed the walkthrough, you should have Right there with ya, boys ready and hopefully with the correct decisions, You could have one of the other endings during your blind run, your Shared Story run or during the collectibles hunt. If you don't, now is the time to do some chapter selecting again.
There are 10 chapters in which characters could die, depending on your decisions and the version of the game you're playing. I will list all the options here, so you can mix and match them depending on what you need: (thanks to Last-_-Judgment for this good walkthrough of death options)

-
Uninvited Guests:
- Theatrical Cut: Julia can die if you don't decide to decompress after returning from the dive (she'll die right at the end of the game and not instantly). If Julia didn't decompress you can still save her in the next chapter by drinking the water instead of the beer.
- Curator's Cut: You can't control Julia, so everything depends on the relationships: if it's good, she will decompress, if it's bad, she will ignore Alex.
-
Intrusion:
- Theatrical Cut: Conrad can die if you decide to escape via speedboat and fail the final button .
-
Ritual:
-
Both Versions: Fliss or Brad can die. All depends on what happened in this and Finding Friends chapters. In the ballroom area, Fliss and Brad will meet up with each other. If you want to save them both, DO NOT PICK any weapons in either chapter and both need to recognise each other. To do this, Fliss will need to get fresh air from the backstage door and Brad needs to find the gas mask. You can still save them if they have weapons or get hallucinated:
- If one of the two characters hallucinates, be sure to win the QTE.
- If both Brad and Fliss both have weapons and are hallucinating, you will need to successfully avoid the other character's attack AND fail to attack them back.

Pressure
- Both Versions: If Fliss and Brad recognise each other in chapter Ritual, you will play this. One of them may die, depending on who goes down the metal grating. Once someone is inside the grating, water will start filling the room and you must complete a QTE decision or a dialogue option. Chose to Search and then focus on smash hinge to save both of them. Choose the other option to kill the character inside the metal grating.
-
Glamor Girl:
-
Theatrical Cut: Conrad, Fliss and Brad can die here. During the chapter, Conrad has to jump three times: he will die if he fails twice during the last jump. After these jumps, you'll come to a room where you can chose to run or hide.
- Hide: there will be a KEEP CALM sequence that will cause Conrad to die if failed
- Run: there will be a short QTE: if failed, it leads to death. After the QTE, you'll be in the highest point of the ship and will get a new decision options: Confront the hallucination to live. If Conrad has the knife, he can stab the hallucination (Fliss or Brad) that will results on the death of one of the two.
-
Curator's Cut: You will control Fliss (Or Brad if Fliss died) and you'll be chasing Conrad.
- Failing any QTE's, means death.
- If Conrad has the knife, do not fail the QTE where he will try to stab you.
- To save Conrad at the top of the ship, chose REASSURING.
-

-
Revenge:
- Both Versions: Alex and Julia will always make it to the last QTE but what makes this a death scenario is if Conrad is alive. Conrad will shows up and stop Alex and Julia. This can lead to a QTE that must be won in order to save everyone.
-
Junior: In this chapter, you will control 2 characters, depending on your choice in Distress Signal they can be anyone, except Conrad. One of them can die, depending on the choices. You'll inevitably come to an encounter with Junior holding you at gunpoint. The fate of your two characters here depend on what you say.
- Theatrical Cut: chose CURIOUS, WORRIED, then DESPERATE. Any other decision, will lead to the death of one of the two.
- Curator's Cut: chose RESPECTFUL and REASSURING. Any other option, will lead to the death of one of the two characters (if you don't do anything, the controlled character will die, if you chose another option, the non-controlled character will die)
-
Matters of the heart: Here, all the deaths depend on the choices during Distress Signal (Alex and 3 other characters must be alive. He and another character, need to stay with the radio).
- Theatrical Cut: You'll be playing as Alex. Don't stab anyone to keep all alive.
- Curator's Cut: You'll be playing as the the partner character of Alex, that will take a detour. Once you find a door that can be opened, wait in this room as long as possible, in order to permit Alex to get the distribution cap. Once you open the door, you'll meet back up with an hallucinated Alex. SAY NOTHING twice then be DESPERATE.
-
Olson: all the deaths depend on the choices during Distress Signal (Alex must be dead or gone down the hole).
- Theatrical Cut: Olson will try to break a door. The second QTE () determines if you retrieve the distributor cap or not. Then chose COMMANDING. Next, you must complete the final two QTEs ( , ) or the controlled character will die.
- Curator's Cut: Once inside the room, choose "Go for cap". Then, pull the lever as soon as Olson starts strangling the other character.
-
The End:
- There are many endings, depending on the choices you did:
- Distributor Cap:
- if the cap is destroyed, the characters can be saved only if Conrad escaped. If Conrad didn't escape, all characters will die if succesfully contacted the military
- If the distributor cap was preserved, all alive characters are saved. If Julia did not decompress properly, she will die here.

- There are many endings, depending on the choices you did:

1. Chapter "Invasion". Conrad does NOT leave on the boat. Brad should stay hidden.
2. Chapter “Coffins”. Alex does NOT take the knife.
3. Chapter "Danny". Fliss does NOT take the knife.
4. Chapter “Looking for Friends.” Brad double checks the mask cabinet and grabs a gas mask from it. DO NOT take a wrench.
5. Chapter “Ritual”. Fliss opens the curtain and goes out into the street. Constantly go outside until the cutscene triggers, otherwise you will inhale again and there will be glitches.
6. Chapter “Pressure”. When we got up, we first look for a shovel in the corner, then in another room we look at the wall and only after that into the open hold. When it is necessary to save a hero who is drowning, we select to find an object, the character himself will run to the shovel and then we select twice to rip off the LOOP.
7. Chapter “Underwater”. Julie stops Alex from drowning. Select the answer to stop.
8. Chapter “Pretty Woman”. We carry out the QTE when there is a choice - RUN Away.
9. Chapter “Revenge”. QTE, select “jump” and “continue”.
10. Chapter “Depths”. In the dialogue with Junior, first CURIOSITY, then “yes, something happened,” then “we held our breath.” We choose to knock out the gun.
11. Chapter “Matters of the heart.” After Oliver dies, we quickly walk along the corridor, as soon as we see a turn into a room with something that looks like a bell - we turn there, to the end and to the right. There will be a corpse in the elevator with a spare part on it. Let's take it.
When we took the spare part of the monster, we don’t hit it, we choose any phrase. When a rat crawls out of Alex's stomach, we hit the monster ONE time. We will NOT hit you anymore.

You can skip the chapter Matters of the Heart altogether, before that you can play a couple of mini-games to Olson. True, it will be more difficult in the cargo compartment, but that's the end. It will be easier to replay.

If you suddenly surfaced ahead of time, playing as Julia, so that she does not die from pussy, in the next scene refuse the beer that Conrad obsessively offers her
