How to unlock the Monster Mash achievement in The Escapists 2 - Definitive Guide

As with the other multiplayer escapes, you can do this one locally with two controllers and thus 'solo'. Controlling two characters is a pain, so I suggest doing as much prep work for this on your main account, then bringing in your character in local play only for the parts that require a second character and the final escape (basically the stuff either behind a keycard door, or a multiplayer door.)

To prep, you'll need a fake cyan keycard, fake red key, fake red keycard, 2x wire, and a weather vane (either bought from vendors or found in desks). You're going to need to hoof it around the prison getting the pieces for the monster. Bolts can be found in the basement level, either in the warden's office desk or the other desks in the cells down in this area (you'll need a red key, guard's uniform, and contraband pouch—1x foil and 1x duct tape—to access these areas and check everything without raising the alarm.) Now onto the stuff that needs another person/controller.

The leg can be found in the northeast corner of the prison, on the second floor in the multiplayer room. Just loot the desk in here.

The monster arm will require a cyan key card and medical outfits (1x bleach and 1x guard or inmate uniform) to get into the medic's room of the southwest infirmary and then the key card room beyond (the very north room in the long hallway.) Grab the item from the desk.

Once you have the leg, arm, bolts, and lightning rod (combined 1x weathervane and the 2x wire), grab a red keycard and go to the south-southeast corner of the map where there's the lab. There will be a keycard access point just north of the lab on the floor above. Enter this area and then go up the stairs and outside to the very corner of the exterior area and you'll get a prompt to put the lightning rod in place. Then head to the first floor and the co-op door to the lab. Get both players inside, assemble the pieces of the monster as prompted (the shrouded thing on the table in the middle of the room), and you'll get an escape option.

(Note: this worked for me, but I've seen some reports online that they weren't getting the prompt to put the rod in place before they assembled the monster—once you put his pieces in place your character says something like 'now we just need some electricity' or something.) Make sure you have both players by the lightning rod point in the very NW corner of the red door zone to try and get the prompt; otherwise, build the monster, run over there, place the rod, and then get back to the monster and escape.)

To complete the unique multiplayer escape, you need to reassemble the monster! To do this you will need the Monster's Arm, Monster's Leg and a Bolts (you actually only need one bolt), as well as a Weather Conductor (which is a combination of Weather Vane, Wire and Wire). Whenever you find the Weather Vane, take good care of it because it spawns randomly and can take ages to find.

  • Monster's Arm - This is in the desk at the back of the medical area. You need 2 players and a cyan keycard to access this room and both players will need medical outfits to get to this room.
     
  • Monster's Leg - This is in the multiplayer only room which is located on the second floor in the North-East corner (UK friends, don't be tricked by American floor numbering! In the USA they don't have a ground floor and they call the ground floor the 1st floor and 1st floor the 2nd floor). You will need 2 players to enter this room, one player to hold the door open and another player to go inside, then they can liberate the Monster Leg from the desk.
     
  • Bolt - You can potentially get lucky with this one and find it in random desks or in the possession of other inmates. If not, this is located in the desk in the Warden's office. You will need a red key to get into this office. The Warden's office is up the stairs behind the red door that is located on the 2nd floor west wing.

Once you have all 3 pieces make your way to the Monster Room, which is on the 1st floor to the south of the building. This is a multiplayer room so once again once player will have to hold the door open for the other. Attach all 3 parts to the monster.

If you don't already have the Weather Vane, it is time to start searching. Search every single desk. It could end up in the medical desk, in one of the guards desk, in the warden's desk, or one of the multiplayer desks. It may also take multiple days to spawn. There's not much you can do here but keep trying and be thorough with your searching. I eventually found the Weather Vane in a guard's desk, located in the basement, which you access using the stairs that are just to the south of roll call.

Once you have the Weather Vane, craft a Weather Conductor. You need the Weather Vane, plus 2 wires. Once you have the Weather Conductor you need to place it on the roof above the Monster Room. You access this part of the roof via the stairs on the 2nd floor, South-East corner (pretty much directly above the Monster Room) and to access these stairs you will need a red key card. Once inside and up the stairs make your way outside to a small balcony and place the Weather Vane in the North-West corner of this balcony (you will be prompted to do so).

Once all these steps are complete you are ready to escape! Make your way back to the Monster Room, walk over to the body and press to break out! If you don't have a second controller handy, then please use the Boosting thread to find a partner: LINK
