How to unlock the Strength of Our Alliance achievement in The Lord of the Rings War in the North - Definitive Guide

I am not entirely certain about this one. But, I noticed when I obtained this achievement, was only with myself, a friend, and a bot. We all equally attacked an enemy, taking turns with attacking. So, try this, and let me know if it works lol!

*Edit* I think from what I have been seeing in the comments, and personal experience, I believe the first two players in the lobby might have a better chance than the 3rd person that comes into a lobby. I remember when I never got the achievement as the 3rd person into the lobby, just only when I was either the host, or the 2nd person into the lobby.

Yep, this works. When I got it I was with one other player and a bot, I didn't perform a critical finish and wasn't even near the enemy when it died. Either way, was happy to get it.

In a session with two friends today we tried a whole hour until we finally got the achievement. The funny thing was that one of us got the achievement after two minutes - the other two did not. This simply should not be possible since if one gets the achievement the other two should get it also. This achievement is - like so much else in this game - buggy.

Just got this through a TA boosting session. First attempt only the host got the achievement. On the second attempt we changed hosts and the remaining two people popped the achievement. It's a bit buggy but it does pop with a little effort. Found the easiest way was to all attack the same enemy and as soon as the yellow strike marker appear hit the button. We tried the whole (1,2,3, GO!) approach and this just proved to take too long and had no luck!

What is very annoying about this achievement is I believe the kill must say group kill and not fellowship attack as iv gotten plenty of them with no achievement. Looking at my stats I have 0 group kills so this is where the confusion lies

PS: I still need this achievement so message me

The difficulty of this achievement is entirely in gauging your latency.

Choose the host with the best connection (lowest ping/highest bandwidth) and have them do the countdown when the yellow arrow appears. You get about 3 seconds before the arrow disappears so the countdown has to be pretty fast when accounting for the amount of time it takes the host to notice it, requisite consideration for lag time over party chat, etc. It is important that the host chooses a pace of countdown and sticks with it.

Pay very close attention to what's going on with the other players. If you whiff the group kill entirely or a coop kill happens without you, then you need to adjust your Y button press to slightly earlier in the countdown. If you're getting critical kills and not a coop kill at all, you're too fast and need to adjust your button press to slightly later in the countdown (or perhaps after it entirely depending on circumstances).

The achievement is not glitched but it does exist in a game that is not friendly to internet lag at all.

Clearly there are many ambiguous ways to unlock this achievement, but what my friend and i found was switching around not only who is host, but also what character we were playing as made the difference.

Playing through our first play through, my friend was the dwarf, I was the Dunedain, and the elf was a bot. He was fortunate to have the achievement pop while facing the Barrow Wight Lord, but I did not receive it. We kept trying with this paradigm, but he would always get credited with group kills and i would get credited with co-op kills. We switched so that I was the Dwarf, and on our first group kill the achievement popped. This tell me that in SOME cases it may be the person doing the most damage on the final blow that receives the group kill.

The strategy we used was to kill off the bulk of monsters in an area, and then run behind the bot to drag enemies towards the bot (otherwise they stand and use ranged attacks). Once he was embroiled in hand-to-hand combat, we walked in and slowly struck until the yellow triangle popped up. Wait about a second, then both players do a Y attack, and hopefully the bot should too. It's good to note that this doesn't work on creatures that are in death throws (you'll sometimes see a yellow arrow that disappears but the creature dies anyways, it seems that these creatures are already "dead" but the chance is there for an EXP bonus.) and this is why many people report that it does not work on trolls, as the yellow arrow is usually there during it's death throws.

In short, just keep on switching roles and try to be patient, I know buggy achievements are frustrating. I am willing to help anyone who needs this so just shoot me a message and we can set something up, Cheers!

Just got it today. We started a new game on normal. Shot the first enemy with two arrows and killed the other. We pinned the enemy against one wall and surrounded him on all other sides. We each alternated using X until the yellow appeared. One of us used X once more then we all used Y.

I was the host and played as the ranger. The other player was set up with a guest, the dwarf. Only I got the achievement.

(Failed) We kept surrounding one enemy, either with one doing all the damage or all using Y until the yellow appeared. One of us would get final blow while the other would get the co-op kill. Finally, we alternated attacking with X until the yellow showed up, Fellowship Attack materialized but no achievement. The goblin got back up.

Yeah last night I was playing with one friend and a bot. It seemed we were lucky enough that the bot stopped being a gimp for a moment and finally pulled out his sword. All 3 of us attacked the same enemy but only my friend got the achievement. How that is possible I don't know! Definitely buggy. I'm thinking all 3 characters need to perform a Y attack at the same time to finish the enemy at the same time. I believe you get a "Co-op Kill" if two of you do this, and some "Fellowship" bonus if all 3 do it. I'm thinking of just hosting a public game with my friend so we get a third player who can try help us.

just to throw this out there i did a gaming session with 2 other players, we got this starting a new game in nomal in the area after you save beleram we would all attack the same enemy at the same time using only Y to try to get a fellowship kill, it worked after only like 2 attempts and everyone got the achievement.

Strength of Our Alliance
Slay one enemy together with 2 other players.

This is the one achievement that requires you to play online with other players. For the simplest way to obtain this achievement you will need to do the following...

1. Get one or two other human players (we used two human players one was playing split screen).
2. Start up a new game on the normal difficulty, other difficulties will work this was the easiest.
3.
3.1. You will begin in Bree, proceed to the first enemy encounter in Fornost.
3.2. Move on to the first two enemies up the stairs. Destroy one so that you may focus on just one enemy without complications.
3.3. Next, use cn_LB to block and cn_X to push the enemy into the wall.
3.4. Surround your enemy with all three players
3.5. Smack the enemy around a bit until the yellow arrow appears above his head, for the best results make sure all players hit the execution button cn_Y as soon as the yellow arrow appears. You should obtain the coop/group kill execution.
4. The achievement is yours.

Be prepared to try this a few times. I found this to be the easiest way to obtain this achievement. Took me less then ten minutes to set up and try out. Hope this helps.

Also, credit to, zaingunsman, for helping with this solution.

The difficulty of this achievement is entirely in gauging your latency. The game is not forgiving in the timing of your button presses like most multiplayer titles and requires systematically adjusting unknown variables into known ones. I will explain what I mean.

What generally happens when this achievement is attempted is that all three players will immediately group around the nearest enemy, not get the group kill, and repeat ad nauseam because everyone is trying to adjust for the other two players. The goal post keeps changing because nobody is separating the variables.

To begin, start a new game on easy on a new save for everyone. Choose the person with the lowest ping and highest bandwidth to host (use sites like speedtest.net to determine this if you have to).

The host will do the countdown and will choose a consistent pace for the other two players to base their timing on. I recommend "3, 2, 1" but as long as there's no definite "go" signal for confusion you can do whatever you want. The host will choose a point in this countdown to hit his Y button every time and will never change it. I recommend directly after "1".

Now choose one of the other players. Since the host will not change his timing at all, this second player must continue to change his timing of pressing Y until them and the host can consistently coop kill. A coop kill means 2 players have successfully synchronized their Y button, so you're already mostly home when this occurs.

Similar to player 2, the third guy will now join in and the same process repeats. The host and player 2 will not change their method or timing at all because they're not the problem variable. Player 3 must coordinate timing with the other two and not the other way around, but fortunately the grandiose coop kill animation gives them a good frame of reference for timing.

Once player 3 synchronizes, the achievement is immediately unlocked by a group kill.
