How to unlock the The New King of TNA achievement in TNA iMPACT - Definitive Guide
After playing this match for 3 hours, I finally figured out an easy way to beat him...
He's going to counter a lot, so it's going to be dumb luck. Basically just running kick him or hip toss him to the ground, then work on his arm. If you can manage to get it to red, put him in a submission FTW. While his health is abnormally large, his arms are still weak.
It's easier to take everything out of the ring since you won't have to worry about his finisher. Just remember, if he throws you back in the ring, you're dazed. Run around outside, run across the ring and out the other, and do WHATEVER you have to to avoid him using his finisher. If you can pull it off, the match takes a whole minute to complete.

Just to add, towards and 'Y' should be a jaw-breaker, and away and 'Y' should be an arm drag takedown, neither of which can be countered. I just hammered these, threw in a couple of kicks and a strong move while he's down, then rinse and repeat. Only took about three tries once I'd sussed it, you gotta stay away from his finisher!

Does difficulty even affect story mode? I'm on backyard and the game is STILL insanely difficult for me', and I play smackdown on legend...lol

I beat the game last night and here is my tip to beat Jarrett and all the other Heavyweights.
I found that the default grapple (hit Y), dropping chin/neckbreaker, was pretty much unblockable. So I was able to get Jarrett on the ground with the default grapple, then either kick/punch or do a quick submission.
As soon as Jarrett got up I would do the default grapple and then continue the punch/kick or submission until his body was red and then used a torture rack to win the match.

so, as a reminder, how do you do the submission?

when the person is on the ground it's left bumper & B. If it's done by their head you'll do a headlock, body you'll do an arm bar, and the leg you'll do a single leg submission (kind of a reverse Boston Crab).
I say stick with the arm bar so it will hurt the body and make the AI easier to submit in a torture rack.

Credit for this strategy goes to SKIN21RIP for a brainstorming session. Firstly, earn 22,800 style points to unlock the neckbreaker grab move. This move is unblockable, but does little damage. I accomplished this achievement on the third attempt by punching twice, and following up with a neckbreaker. When Jarrett got dizzied, I pulled away from him on the left stick and used the grab button. this did an armbar move that set him on the ground. I then quickly did a grapple ground move to the arms while he was stunned on the mat. using this method, was able to get his arms in the red within 3 minutes, at which point my finisher was charged. Hit my finisher, and followed up by applying an arm submission on the mat (LB+B). 3 button pressing mini-games later, the story mode was over and the achievo popped. It is important to wait until Jarrett is stunned to do ground grapples because he reverses like there is no tomorrow.
Any comments on this stratetgy would be more than welcome, especially if leaving feedback on this method. My solutions will only improve if I get input from my fellow gamers. Thank you.

My only suggestion is to not waste time doing the finisher. If his arms are already in red no reason to not just do the Submission to end it.

Beating Jarrett is hard, but these were the tactics I used to finally get the pin:
- lots of running clotheslines and kicks (LT, bounce off ropes, press X or A when close to him); he can't counter this too much.
- when Jarrett's knocked down and on his back, press the Y button (or LB + Y for a strong modifier) when you're near his arms or legs to inflict a bit of extra damage to these areas. If he's on his stomach, hit X and A to give him a couple of shots before he gets up.
- after knocking Jarrett down, climb one of the turnbuckles (B button when near it) and do an aerial attack; he can rarely counter these moves. He also hardly ever tries to knock you down while you're on the turnbuckle.
- when Jarrett is dazed, put him in a submission hold (LB + B) and do the button-tapping minigame to deliver some pain. Working his arms and legs is a good tactic.
- keep moving. Jarrett's attacks are strong and hard to counter; don't let him get his hands on you. Go outside the ring and make him chase you; he'll often trip on the stairs, which will buy you some time.
- if Jarrett has you down and is punching you and you can't roll away or get up, start tapping RB and chances are you can reverse his attack.
- when you hear the sound that Double J's finisher is ready to be used, immediately get out of the ring and keep out his reach until the meter runs out.
- don't forget to taunt (LB + RB) to regain some health. For best results, do it when Jarrett is knocked down and/or not close to you.
- since Jarrett counters so much, don't attempt lots of strong grapple attacks since he turns these around and dishes out massive damage a lot.
- when you're finisher is ready, use it (LB + Y, then B). Chances are you won't get the pin the first time, but you'll do a fair amount of damage.
- when Jarrett's body is red and his legs and arms are at least orange, you should be able to get the pin. If your finisher is charged up, let him have it. If Jarrett's down or dazed, perform a submission hold on the red-colored body area and he'll probably tap out.
When the final bell sounds and you're finally victorious, take a moment to savor your 100 GamerScore points. But most importantly, Eric Young is safe.
