How to unlock the Geared Up achievement in Torchlight III - Definitive Guide
This is a solution for -
...both of which can be done together. The description on each of these seems obvious - but after equipping every armor type and weapon type available to me as a Sharpshooter main, it didn't pop. I started googling, and the only thing I could find was this - https://www.reddit.com/r/Torchlight/comments/joqw0c/weapons_... - which doesn't really explain what you need to do, but it basically worked for me, so I'm taking a guess at what the true solution is to save others from needless frustration. Here's exactly what I did -
After beating the game with the Sharpshooter, equipping each armor and weapon type, I created a new character for each of the remaining 3 classes, and did the first 2 quests (kill defeat Yapper, kill boss at end of Hero's Rest). In detail -
1) Create Forged, get off the boat, kill defeat Yapper, turn in, select the chest cannon quest reward. Zone out of the city, Hero's Rest is to the east, take the northern most path. Zone in to Hero's Rest, touch the 5 graves, kill boss. By the time you've killed the boss you will almost certainly have received both a hatch and a locomotion. I didn't even have to equip them both, just pick it up, and "Geared Up" popped. Warp out, walk back to the city. Menu, Character Select...
2) Create Dusk Mage, get off the boat, kill defeat Yapper, turn in, select the digitus quest reward, equip it. This is probably sufficient, but to be safe, I did the 2nd quest - zone out of the city, Hero's Rest is to the east, take the northern most path. Zone in to Hero's Rest, touch the 5 graves, kill boss. By the time you've killed the boss you will almost certainly have received a digitus. Warp out, walk back to the city. Menu, Character Select...
3) Create Railmaster, get off the boat, kill defeat Yapper, turn in, select the railhammer quest reward, open chest. This is probably sufficient, and "Weapons of Choice" popped at this point, but just so I could warp to my fort, I also did the 2nd quest.
Ssj Sean has done some testing and confirmed that you don't have to actually equip these, just pick them up and have them in your inventory. Also - Purchased or rolled for items do not count towards this achievement.
So if you didn't main Sharpshooter - use the list below to figure out which characters you need to create and run the first couple quests. When you create a Sharpshooter, select the bow for the quest reward.
All classes can wear this armor -
helm
shoulders
chest
gloves
pet collar (does not count according to Xenogorgon)
pet tag (does not count according to Xenogorgon)
Every class except forged can wear this armor -
pants
boots
Forged only armor -
hatch (instead of pants)
locomotion (instead of boots)
All classes can equip these main hand or 2h -
pistol
rifle
mace
sword
staff
great weapon
(I think this is accurate, but it's possible that one of these is sharpshooter only and I just don't know)
All classes can equip these off hand -
shield
focus
(I think this is accurate, but it's possible that one or both of these is unusable by certain classes and I just don't know)
Sharpshooter only weapon -
bow
Forged only weapon -
chest cannon (an extra slot, only available on forged)
Dusk Mage only weapon -
digitus (main hand weapon)
Railmaster only weapon -
railhammer (2H weapon)

@E vee dub - Is it really that confusing, or were you so focused on your pedantic response that you were unable to use basic reading comprehension skills? Let's go bit by bit -
>A lot of guessing in this guide and it's mostly discussing how you were able to unlock a problem you ran into.
I make it pretty clear that I'm not entirely sure what the requirements are and I am in fact guessing. I say this several times throughout the solution. "I don't know" is littered throughout. Why would I put out a solution if I don't know anything for sure? The game had been out 2.5 months and had no solution, and it is not obvious, especially if you only played one class.
Was it patched in an update?
It was not patched in an update.
> Also, it'd be much better if you made a list for each class, even if you have to repeat some items, because not everyone is playing through with 4 classes.
The solution is long enough as is. If you can't parse it as is, again, work on that reading, I believe in you.
>Does it take long to unlock this achievement?
In theory, probably not, if you were focused on only this. But again, I don't know.
>Do we have to play through the whole campaign first?
In theory, probably not, if you were focused on only this. But again, I don't know.
>Or can it be unlocked with 1 class early, as soon as we get each type of item and equip them?
Well, you definitely have to play with at least 3 of the classes, as they each have a unique piece of gear that other classes can't use. I don't know if any other gear is unique to Sharpshooters. This should be obvious if you read the solution carefully, but clearly, you did not, you just had to get this crappy post out ASAP.
>You "killed" Yapper to start your campaign? In my campaign as a Dusk Mage, I battled Yapper and then he was tied up in town. So will I have to "kill" Yapper later, because I've almost finished Act I and haven't seen any clue I'll have to battle him again? If not, then please choose your wording more carefully as it is misleading.
If you actually thought this, pm me your address, I will send you an award for pedantry. Seriously, you couldn't figure this out from the context? Did you not immediately get the reward I said you would as a Dusk Mage? And then immediately get sent to Hero's Rest where you touched 5 graves and killed a boss? JFC.
