How to unlock the Completely Classy achievement in Trove - Definitive Guide
This achievement is for reaching the current max level, 30, on a single class. You can unlock and switch between multiple classes, but experience is only gained on the current class equipped, and one of them must reach level 30. Per a Wiki, the calculated experience needed to level a class from 1 to 30 is over 12 million experience. There are a few ways to gain experience, and a few ways to improve your gains.
Gaining levels provides some stat boosts for your current class. It's usually a small amount, but the little bits add up, and things like health and attack can be boosted by any multiplier stats, as well. Additionally, you gain about 15 points towards your Mastery levels, with larger boosts coming at level 10, level 20, and level 30 due to the extra collectables you also unlock at those thresholds. This bonus makes it worthwhile to level up multiple classes, not just your primary, for the benefits Mastery Level can bring. Additionally, you can also demo other still-locked classes up to level 4, while still earning that small mastery bonus.
Equipment (hats, faces, weapons, and rings) requires a minimum level to equip, but generally this maxes out at level 10. Lastly, gems (the bulk of your stat upgrades and abilities) are also limited by your level. Specifically, the # of available slots you have open for each gem type is dependent on your level, with the final small fire gem slot being unlocked at level 30.
Gaining Experience
Experience can be earned in several ways:
* Killing enemies
* Completing dungeon quests
* Using an Experience Coin (Rare drop)
* Completing quests at Outposts located in Neon City's Luminopolis biome
Once you've upgraded enough, enemies are quick to defeat, but only add a tiny fraction of experience needed to get to the next level. Additionally, any spawned enemies, such as from a boss or a Cursed Skull altar, do not grant experience, Sometimes they drop loot, but rarely. Mostly, they are obstacles to your main goal of the dungeon quests but can add up bit by bit.
Dungeon quests are simply a kind of raid in the randomly-positioned sets of dungeons across the worlds. Generally, you either have to kill a boss or a set of enemies spawned from a Cursed Skull altar. Large dungeons generally have a main boss/quest and two sub-quests, with the main being worth 2x a normal dungeon and sub-quests only half, leading to about 3x a normal dungeon for clearing the whole thing. In general, this will be your meat and potatoes in leveling up; you'd have to kill about 40 or so enemies for completing a dungeon, and when you're got the upgrades such as a dragon/bombs to quickly reach the bosses, you can get a good chunk of experience pretty quickly.
Experience Coins are not commonly earned. Sometimes they can be earned during an event, or possibly from certain loot boxes. Generally, they only give 10K experience. This is a pittance for what you need for level 30, so their main use is for boosting a newly-unlocked class up to something usable, without needing to grind out the pre-uber-level worlds.
Outpost Shrines in Neon City were included with the recent (early 2018) "Heroes" update to Trove. Similar to the Adventures update, these include a bunch of quests related to Neon City and its new sub-biome, the Luminopolis. The quests can vary in time and difficulty, from defeating enemies and clearing dungeons, to gathering resources, to crafting materials at the new workbenches at said shrines. Completing one of these quests grants Adventurine, as well as about 10x the experience of a normal dungeon. There is a daily limit to the experience you can earn from this, either in total experience, or the number of quests you can complete for experience. It will tell you when you no longer gain experience.
Experience Modifiers
The largest modifier, by far, is the difficulty of the world you are in. Higher-level worlds, particularly Ubers level 7 and 8, give several thousand upon completion, versus a few dozen from the earliest worlds. However, there are two limits in place. First, your active class's Power Rank determines what adventure worlds you can earn experience in. Uber 7 needs 2.5K, and Uber 8 needs 5K. Uber 9 needs a whopping 10K Power Rank, at which point, you've likely already reached level 30 to obtain. While you can try to use another class to enter a world then switch, experience will be blocked if your Power Rank is not high enough. The second limit is your current level. Each world difficulty has recommended levels. Even if your Power Rank is high for your level, your experience earned is capped at the rate of the first recommended world above your current level.
Similar to the Experience Coins, there are also Double Experience potions. These can be bought from the store in certain deals, or occasionally earned from events. The key points are that they double all experience, but only last for an hour. Thus, you want to use these when you have time to focus on Experience rather than collecting or other things in-game, and when the bonus can be multiplied by other factors.
Currently, Saturday is EXP Bonus day, granting 50% extra experience earned for your class level. This makes Saturday a great day for boosting, as that 50% is applied against the total, including any of the other modifiers going on.
Rarely, there may also be a +EXP Bonus week. This is rare, but will double the experience earned through the entire week, again on top of any other bonuses you have. This makes the entire week better than a normal Saturday, but also makes said Saturday of the given week even greater, effectively tripling your experience gains that day. Unfortunately, these are rare, and with the new Heroes update they may now be further and farther between.
If the stars align, you can gain 6x your normal experience if you were to play on a Saturday during an +EXP Bonus week while using EXP Potions to double that bonus. This is a massive bonus, and should be taken advantage of when possible. You can also work on leveling some of your other classes as well, for the Mastery bonuses that brings.
Other Tips
Dungeon quests are completed by being close enough for the quest to show up. Some folks 'leech' completions by waiting outside while others fight the bosses. Some folks don't like this, but for the most part you aren't actively harming them by being near. Other times, there are also 'trains', where folks fly from one dungeon to the next, decimating them on the way for experience and loot. The risk here is not being close enough to a dungeon when it is completed to get the experience.
Large Dungeons give 2x the experience for the main quest (three stars), but only half for the others. Additionally, the active area for the main quest is about the size of the entire dungeon, versus sub-quests requiring you to be extremely close, so you can still get the EXP even if others are quickly going for the main boss. With that, learn the layouts of the Dungeons of each biome. Some bosses are quick to get to, either by an alternate portal, by jumping/flying to the top, or by bombing certain portions to bypass the normal maze. It may be more worth your time to skip the sub-bosses if you would have to go out of your way for them.
As mentioned above, Outposts were added in the Heroes expansion to Trove. These outposts have quests of their own that grant 10x the experience of a normal dungeon. This, too, scales by world, as well as by any multipliers. Outposts are randomly and uncommonly placed in a world, and are limited to the Luminopolis sub-biome as well. The quest(s) they offer is also random. However, they are repeatable. if you go hunting at a higher-uber world, you may get extremely lucky and find a quest like "kill 10" or "mine 60 shapestone". These are somewhat easy to complete, and are repeatable. If you have a good enough world, you can get the experience of 10 dungeon completions in a fraction of the time, while being able to do so multiple times. And if you do it on Saturday with an EXP potion active, then the EXP gain is even greater.
The major downside is that the Glorious Gladiator achievement is MUCH more difficult, as there's no way to actually access the old arena. So, no way to play against randoms. I believe that clubs can build their own PvP arenas and it's possible to earn PvP XP that way, but you then need to work with others to grind it out, rather than just doing random pick-up games. Also, the Arena XP bonus may no longer be in place.
The achievements for reaching level 20 and 30 will NOT unlock if you surpass the level requirement in a Bomber Royale game. The previous solution mentions Bomber Royale as a way good way to get XP and it is, especially on Saturdays. I was able to level up a class from 1-25 in a few hours playing Bomber Royale. So if you go about this method of gaining XP, make sure you hit your level up achievements in a dungeon.
Getting to Level 30 is fairly easy, and will come well before the Power Rank or Mastery achievements. You will get +50% experience on Saturdays (+100% for Patrons), and Patrons get a permanent +50% bonus as well (so +150% on Saturdays). Simply go into the adventure worlds and tackle the dungeons to gain experience. The 3-star dungeons are worth more obviously, and also give the best loot to increase your Power Rank, which will give access to harder adventure worlds, and so on.
You will gain extra Mastery points for maxing out multiple character classes, so if you manage to get the 10k PR on one class for that achievement, it is worthwhile to then switch to another.
