How to unlock the Veteran achievement in Warhammer 40000 Space Marine - Definitive Guide

Do you want an easy way to level up, without all the defeats, awkward kills, or slow progression system?

How about a way where you can boost your level without the anoying part where you and your teammates take turns?

Interested?

When at the main menu, go onto: Xbox Live, Private game, Game settings (not sure if its the right name, but the option that lets you controls the aspects of the game)

From here choose: Seize Ground (Not annialation), set the max score to 500 points, put it on a map that has 4 capture points (or 3, but 4 generally speeds up the level up process), set the time limit to unlimited and the respawn time to instant.

Then start the game, and to speed up the process further select air assault/Raptor. Now capture the 3/4 capture points, each netting you 200 points. This is why is choose the air assault/raptor, and fly over the map is much faster than running). When all four have been captures, simply wait for the point score to reach 500, then the game will end.
Because i usually go on a map with 4 capture points, i gain 1050 points (4 lots of 200 points for the capture points, and a bit more for "winning" the game), you if you select a map with 3 capture points you gain less points at a slower rate.
You can repeat this process unlimited times, each time netting you 1050 points, and can level up at a much faster rate than instead of simply playing and gaining legit.

Please comment on whether this helped, and if down-vote, please say why so i can help make this guide better for everyone.

I found another method accidentally that has not yet been mentioned. If you would like to level up relatively quickly without any human opposition, you can play EXTERMINATUS PRIVATE. Set up a game on Hab Center, Arena 1. You will encounter waves of orcs, akin to a 'horde' mode, and when you die you will capture all of the XP and level up. I was actually going for the following achievement in which you need 40,000 kills.
Warhammer 40,000: Space MarineTrue Son of the EmperorThe True Son of the Emperor achievement in Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine worth 598 pointsKill 40,000 enemies in the game (all game modes combined).

If you follow the guide for that achievement, you can obtain over 500 kills and, more importantly, well over 3,000 XP for every 12-15 min of game time. I really like the fact that this solution contributes to many other achievements as well, and while it can be a grind it can be broken up over several days/sessions to ease the pain. This is also useful as leveling up unlocks items that are both fun and useful for playing multiplayer legit. Hopefully this helps anyone still going for this achievement!

This isn't difficult at all, but a couple things that help speed up the process without the boringness of boosting (the strategies of which are listed in the level 40 solution) and enjoy the crazy havoc that multiplayer has to offer while leveling are a couple of the following:

Check the challenges section and note all the bonuses you get aside from the unlocks for 50 revenge kills/100 assists etc, as they all offer a bunch of bonus xp on top of the unlocks they offer.

I found seize ground mode to be very quick xp- just capping a point is worth 200 xp, and uncapping a point offers 50xp and happens pretty fast and is usually easy, since people 90% of the time respawn at their home spawn point rather than at capped locations/team-mates with teleport-homer perk.

Early on, rapid deployment is a good perk to pick, and there are lots of max-level players out there- copy their load-outs after you die early and often! Having the iron halo/chaos icon perk as a devastator (heavy armor) makes a world of difference. Melta gun is also a recipe for very easy kills if you don't stay out in the open where you could get sniped or pounced on by an asssault/raptor (jetpack guys).

...and speaking of assault/raptors and challenge xp bonuses, grab the Final Vengeance perk as soon as you can get it. Impenetrable isn't a bad perk to pair with it once you open up the second perk slot, but final vengeance is really just great. It causes your backpack to explode with at least equal force of a frag grenade if not more, which will catch people off-guard all the time, and while playing assault-raptor you can get into the fight quickly, and your lifespan is probably going to be generally short, so the general suicidal rush that goes along with playing the class works well with Final Vengeance. If you get a kill with it, as you very often will on a heavy you didn't manage to melee down before they killed you, or a tactical you winged and doesn't get away from your body/doesn't notice at all and is standing right on your exploding jetpack- that'll kill them straight up, and give you 50xp for a kill, bonus xp for killing from the grave, and another bonus of xp for Revenge killing your last killer.

I'd stick with the chainsword or powersword for raptor/assault. They're easiest to control and still will do tons of damage. Copying the load-out of someone with the thunder-hammer or daemon-maul is fun for kicks, but is much, much more difficult to master than the quicker melee weapons. (chainsword/powersword->power axe/chain axe (slower but more damge)->hammer/maul (INCREDIBLY slow but very hard-hitting, but will kill anyone but a heavy-armor in one hit usually, if your ridiculously slow swing manages to connect.) If you miss, which you will, a good amount, you are screwed more or less. Takes forever to recover from a bad swing of the mace/hammer. If you manage to copy someone's loadout who has the Killing Blow perk for the hammer/maul that is 1-shot on anything. period.)

Other weapons that are very easy to use and highly effective even without their weapon perks are the storm bolter for tactical armor and plasma cannon (not plasma gun or pistol, although both of those are decent enough) for heavy armor.

I'd try to avoid using the heavy armor without having iron halo/chaos icon. Makes you basically a slow, unwieldy tactical that is an easy target. Generally it felt like losing the ability to dodge roll could not be compensated for without having the extra armor from the iron halo/chaos icon.

If you can get a heavy armor with las-cannon and signum-link perk, those are an excellent combination for sniping (signum link shows names above any hostile target in your field of vision, at any distance), but you need to figure out the good spots to do so from, because if people get in close it can be fairly problematic to say the least.
