How to unlock the Devil's garden achievement in World of Van Helsing: Deathtrap - Definitive Guide
Just to note although summon traps look similar to ground traps they are separate and building any will void the achievement.
Before you begin reset your traps take any points away from tower and summon traps and max out ground traps.
The icicle field, acid geyser and lava trap, will be your best friend's. Also invest in an essence trap or 2 so by the time the later waves come you are fully upgraded.
I would recommend map 1 For this. The only enemy you need to worry about is the kobold tusker. So fully upgrade acid geysers. For the horde enemy's build the lava traps.
Have an essence trap in the middle. This is the point all enemies will converge. Never stray from here. Focus on upgrading raps furthest away from you then by the time the enemies reach you there health has been reduced.
Once the traps are fully upgraded sell your essence traps.
Customise your skills make sure that you invest in passive skills which Have a constant effect. Upgrade your armor and Weapon.
Try and keep central and the biggest tip i can give you is to toggle the speed button. This gives you time to assess the battle field choose the right spell and know where to invest your resources. I would say from wave 15 Have the game speed normal as it begins to get tougher.

I did this easily solo on level "V". I picked this level mainly because it had no flying creatures. Flying creatures avoid floor traps, which makes them more challenging.
The following was pretty critical to success:
1) Be high level. Your traps are going to be a small amount of your damage. You need to hit hard with your character abilities. I was level 100 when i tried this.
2) Be a sorceress. This is probably not critical, but her range attacks give you a lot of flexibility. A marksman would probably work OK as well.
3) Max out "Icicle Field" traps. This is the only trap you really need to place, as they slow enemies down considerably, and give you more time to move from place to place. Essence traps (eventually replaced with Acid traps) are nice to have, but I don't think they impacted things much.
4) Meet the enemies close to where they spawn when possible. Take the fight to them! If you wait until they are near the end of their paths, things will get a lot more hectic.

Thanks. Did it solo as well on this one as Level 100 Sorceress.
Portal Glyphs worked really well for me. The key part being mobs lose 30% HP each time they're teleported. It scales through waves, so its a flat 30% instead of a set amount of damage. They won't do much for the really quick Kobold Warfiends and don't effect Quag Things either but they'll care of pretty much everything else, for the most part.
I used Acid Geyser as the other trap but anything should work for that one. In some spots they'll walk through these multiple times after being teleported.
Thumbs up, just putting out a different strategy for the same map.

Summon traps void the achievement.

Level VIII - Plateau of Decay
You face the same 51 creatures on every wave making this quite predicable and easy to plan for.
The creatures you face are;
2x Mechanus (armoured)
13x Arachnopod (horde)
2x Heavy Arachnopod (horde)
3x Shredder (armoured)
9x Assault Metallopod (normal)
21x Decontaminator (normal)
1x Decontaminator Champion (normal)
I used a level 100 Marksman with the following (maxed out) traps;
Icicle Field
Abyss Crater
Acid Geyser
If you have any runes that boost these then that's a plus but not necessary. Make sure you have great weapons and maxed passive skills. I only used the active skills;
Scattershot (THIS IS ESSENTIAL)
Enfeblement
Strategy is fairly simple. Lay down a few Abyss craters, they will take out half of the horde and normal enemies instantly, making your life much easier. The armoured enemies are defated by Acid geysers and scattershot. Make sure you take out the armoured enemies when they are on, or shortly after, an Acid geyser or they will become an issue. For the champion, use the same tactic but also use Enfeblement to bring his health down quickly (BONUS many times the Abyss craters will kill him before he reaches you!) Use the icicle fields on the last 2 spaces to give you extra time. You need to be proactive and take the fight to the enemy. Being a Marksman allows you to get around and deal damage easily.
Watch out for the decontaminator's acid attacks as on 2x speed they can quickly kill you. Also be aware that sometimes it's best to let one enemy slip through to concentrate on killing others. I didn't suffer any damage to my gate until wave 20. If you run out of Mana it is often better to run away, let it refil then come back with Scattershot to kill enemies more quickly.
That's it, good luck. Any questions or comments let me know and I'll elaborate where needed,

Thx m8, worked like a charm +1 (though, I did not use scattershot)

You're welcome. I guess some of the other skills can be used instead but I have no experience of them.

On any of the 13 levels that you must do in Endless mode up to wave 20, make sure you do not build any tower traps. Most of the earlier levels have good choke points that you'll stay close to where you can do most of the fighting yourself, and you'll be able to make use of the Ice traps to freeze and slow enemies for you if you need to move around at all.
Note: Summon traps are not allowed for this for some reason. Any other ground trap is fine.
