How to unlock the Amon Defeated achievement in Yakuza 0 - Definitive Guide
Taken from my solution on True Trophies but still applies to the XB1/W10 version of the game as they are exactly the same as the PS4 version:
These strategies were derived from CyricZ's Yakuza 0 guide on Gamefaqs (https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/ps4/816306-yakuza-0/faqs/74451...).
Jo Amon (Majima): Firstly I would recommend using the equipment searches to acquire the Dragon Mail or any armour you have that has a high defense rating against normal and blade attacks (guns won't matter). Accessories are up to you but stock up on 4-5 sacrifice stones. Also fill your entire inventory up with Habu drinks (full HP, heat restorations) at the Sotenbori pharmacy (any other healing item would do too).
The key to beating Jo Amon is Majima's demonfire counter (similar to the Tiger Drop from past games). That means you must finish the Cabaret side story (beat Club Moon) to unlock Majima's Mad Dog style. Actually beating Jo is really simple, just hold to lock on and press when he attacks. You'll miss often so be sure to heal up when you drop below 75-50% HP. You can keep equipping sacrifice stones mid battle so if you have lots of those, the battle almost becomes trivial.
So Amon (Kiryu): Thankfully So Amon is much easier. The same set up applies as Majima but I would recommend either the Dragon Mail or an armour resistant to physical and guns (not blades). This time you don't need any special styles, although I'd recommend using Brawler or Dragon style for the most damage. So Amon will fire cannons at you for the first half which simply involves running around to avoid them. His most deadly attack (and can kill you in 1 or 2 hits) is the giant laser. For that reason I would recommend equipping a sacrifice stone during the first half of the battle. Once he's at around half HP a helicopter will fly and drop furniture that flies everywhere while also occasionally dropping a gold coloured item. This item is the key to winning, simply walk over it and you become invincible for 10 seconds or so, that's when you need to go all in on So. So can also pick up these invincibility items so run away for 10 seconds if that happens. The true danger with the 2nd phase of the fight is the furniture flying around the place, you can get stun locked and die very quickly so make sure to have a sacrifice stone equipped just in case.

-1 for "beating So Amon is really simple". Nothing about that cheap fight was simple.
And the names are switched around, Jo Amin is Majima, So Amon is Kiryu.

Thanks for the heads up WhyattThrash. Fixed the names.
I think you're misinterpreting what I mean by "really simple". I said that because all it takes to beat him is Majima's demon counter, hence he's simple to beat. I didn't say it was easy which I think is the impression you're getting. Are you finding it hard to pull off the demon counter?

The Amon bosses are secret boss fights that are unlocked by completing the following:
- 59/60 substories as Kiryu
- 39/40 substories as Majima
Once you’ve finished your final substory as either character, you’ll start to hear what sounds like distorted cat noises coming from your pager. Both characters will question the odd message, and will have you go to the Bullfighting Arena via taxi.
Note: Defeating one boss does not grant you the achievement, you have to defeat both bosses with their respected character (Majima vs Jo and Kiryu vs So)
Each boss is unique in their own way, and will be your most challenging fight in the game so far as their wall of defense is high and can counter/disrupt most of your combos… or so they thought.
Before we waltz in fist-ablazing, we’ll be doing some prep work as Majima at Sotenbori’s Dragon & Tiger shop to make these fights as little of a nuisance as possible. The items we will need are listed below ( some of which requires RNG. Having the Benkei’s Amulet from “ Postcard Master - Majima” substory and Magic Belt [ Found in South America /crafted with 2x Eye of the Dragons and 10x Sacred Wood ] can help reduce RNG, but not required):
- Thug Necklace* (obtained with “Crazy Unbelievable Success” from West Europe-Ruined Shrine [I recommend saving as soon as you send an agent out that way if you don’t get CUS, you can load and try again.] )
- Payback Ring (crafting recipe obtained through Afrika-Giza, after that; 2x Dragon Tears, 10x shaped Memory Alloy, and 30x Straw Effigy)
- Bloody Binding (Japan - The Hanafubki Family - any agent)
- Boozer Belt (Japan - Local Dojo - Sexy Swindler)
- Brawler Amulet (E. Asia - Kowloon Walled City [Random chance of spawn after each search] - Crazy Unbelievable Success )
- Golden Gun (Kiryu’s CP Shrine for 154 CP’s)
- Majima’s Essence of the Thug: blade Steal (Thug skill tree)
- Kiryu’s Drunkards’ Secret (Great Tiger) (Brawler skill tree)
Optional:
- Dragon Mail (Japan - Hidden Ninja Village [spawns randomly after each search])
- War God Tailsman (Majima’s CP Shrine for 181 CP’s)
It’s also worth mentioning I had maxed out the Thug/Brawler skill trees when I attempted these fights
*Edit: Some sources say the Thug Necklace isn't necessary for the fight advantage while other says it's recommended, there will be an added comment under the Majima tab on how to go about this fight differently than I originally did.
I've also been made aware that charging the bosses with Zap Guns is another viable option. I'll still leave the old solution up if gunning about is not your playstyle.
Once we’re geared up, it’s time we teach these bad guys a lesson.
Majima Vs. Jo:
Kiryu Vs. So:
Once the fights are done, you’ll get Amon Sunglasses, this achievement, and Story of My Life achievement coincide with it.

FYI, you don’t need the Thug Necklace, I had Majima’s Legend style upgraded offensively to the point where you need Limit Breaker to progress further and I was able to get the job done with this strat + 1 Zap Gun shot. And also, one of the drugs found in the shop (one with “stimulating your appetite” in the description) lowers your health, 7 of them from max health will get you down to 1 HP.

Interesting find. I've quoted and credited you for another method under Majima's tab.

Here's how to easily defeat So Amon with Kiryu, using maxed out BRAWLER styler + ALCOHOL.
