How to unlock the No Punctuation achievement in Alan Wake - Definitive Guide
In the same vein as The Signal’s ‘Run On Sentence’ achievement you must complete The Writer without dying, reloading or restarting, which is quite a difficult feat. You’ll most likely want to attempt this on Normal difficulty, but if you want to try at a higher level, good on ya!
You may want to attempt this on a separate playthrough from every other achievement, too, as wandering off the beaten path looking for collectibles, or trying to rush through the tornado encounter, and especially trying to reach the lighthouse without firing a gun, while attempting this achievement will probably drive you insane.
Areas of concern include:
-The trek from Cauldron Lake Lodge to Stucky’s Gas station. Primarily, this part concerns creating a makeshift bridge from manuscript words, and the tornado encounter. It is frustratingly easy to fall if mistiming your jump here, so time your jumps carefully, particularly around the tornado. Note that a heavy Taken will attack you as you make your way past the tornado, on a rather thin ledge, so prepare yourself for him (I, personally, had a heart attack and walked off the edge on my first run when I saw him). After this, an important point is to stock up on flares before dropping down the hole into the sewer pipes. Try to be conservative with these, especially in following areas where floating words such as ‘roll’ can be used to take down the Taken.
-The rotating wheel section. Standing in the wrong place or dropping into a room too soon can hurt or kill you. You need to wait for the floor to be fairly level before entering a new section, otherwise you may slide, at an alarming speed, towards the other end of the room, and take serious damage, or die.
-The final approach to the lighthouse. Shine your light on every ‘clear’ word you see, so that the light from the lighthouse can one hit kill as many Taken as possible. Shoot the rest, or drop the occasional flare and run as far as you can.
-The final encounter. It’s quite possible to go for ‘Iron Will’ at the same time as this achievement, though ‘Iron Will’ requires you to avoid being seriously hurt (dropping to the lowest health state). There are crates with infinite ammo to assist you here. As mentioned in my tips for ‘Iron Will’, take care of the birds first in this fight! Flares are wonderful for dealing with the birds.
In general, run whenever possible, make use of random lights or explosions, be conservative with flares when possible, and keep a good ammo count at all times. Luck may also play a part in this, so good luck!

The section where you can trigger rolling exploding barrels by illuminating the words "roll" can be tricky, but you can take a shortcut through this section. As soon as you arrive at this section (after crossing the fallen tree--you'll see the words "roll" at the top of the hill), run down the hill to the right. Look down over the cliff's edge near where there are tree roots sticking out of the side of the ledge below you. There is also a stump or rock (can't remember) directly below the roots. If you slowly walk off the edge over the roots and the stump, you'll land safely, taking little to no damage. This will put you right in front of the fallen tree you need to cross to the next area, through the chain link fence. Book it through the fence and up the path to the check point and you shouldn't have to fire a shot. You may need to drop a flare after dropping down from the initial ledge, but that's about it.

I think this achievement is a lot harder than any of the others in the entire alan wake game and DLC. It requires you to not be complacent at all, so you can't let any enemies get the jump on you or mess around wasting time. But what really makes it so hard is the lame jumping sections, as jumping really is this games strong point.
Most of the tips have already been said but here's two-
-Final boss tip
Save your flashbangs for final barry boss, you can half destroy him and get rid of his birds with just one of them. So two or three well timed/aimed flashbangs will do a majority of the final boss for you, especially if you save them for the later part of the fight.
-Tornado tip
One tip I can give for the tornado section, when shining your light on the bridge sections that are spinning in the tornado, try and make them appear a few seconds before you jump on them. If you do it too early, or wait for them to come around the tornado again, they will have spun on their axis and be facing a different way, making it unreachable with alan's jump.

Here's a link to a Video Walkthrough I made with full commentary. It's a standard guide through the DLC without deaths and results in the achievement popping.

This one is a pain to get. I'd be really surprised if anyone can get this on their very first try!
I didn't want to finish the game without this, so everytime I died, I restarted the game again. You get used to it, but it can be frustrating to repeat sections over and over.
-
The battle with the first lot of Taken is fairly straight-forward. Make sure you stock up on ammo and grab the revolver. Kill the first few, then the second wave and finally use the fireworks to mostly remove the dark-force protecting the last lot.
Be careful moving over floating terrain, take it slow if you need to.
The cabin you encounter will rotate, just move towards the exit/entrance and you'll be fine. If you're going for the collectible, wait for almost a full rotation back to the start and make a short jump over. Be patient.
I went for the Whirlwind achievement and I advise you do too. Either way, you'll need to restart to get it. Might as well keep trying for it so you don't have to get it later.
The metal platform (bridge approaching you) is your safest bet. If you're going fast, the beds are also good for the second bridge. Otherwise wait for the second metal platform and make sure you don't have to jump too far or over the railing. Be patient.
Make sure to use the roll words to spawn explosive barrels, occasionally picking off enemies with your revolver. If you need to, use your flare(s) (There is an infinite stash coming up). I would advise not rushing through, take them all out or almost all of them (as long as you can make it to the trunk).
Next up, infinite flares. It's obvious you should max out on them here. You might be able to use one or two flares and avoid the Taken in the pipes (rush towards the hole), but if you don't want to risk it, kill them. Honestly, ammo is so common in this, it's not a big problem.
As for the rotating wheel, don't run, but do make it through all the doors quickly. Don't stand around, or you'll fall into a wall at high speed and die. Wait for any entrances that are in the floor to be level and then walk through...DO NOT JUMP. If you want to be careful, make sure the floor is always level anywhere in there before proceeding onwards. Yes, you do need to jump in the water after the memory of you does it.
At Stucky's gas station, you can just run to the safe-haven. If you need the collectible, it is to the right and is deeper into the trees near the end of the broken road.
Spawn all the wires first, then the bridge. Kill the Taken that spawn on the bridge and start the generator. No more Taken will spawn before the log bridge.
As you climb the steps up the bridge, more Taken will come at you. Not too many and usually one or two at a time.
At the top, make sure you grab the flashbangs next to the TVs. Use the crumble and boom words to hopefully take out some Taken. These guys can overwhelm you, so don't hold back. I'm pretty sure they keep spawning if you hang around, so head for the safe-haven ASAP.
Be slow and precise when walking over the trunk Zane moved.
Some Taken will spawn around you as you walk around the hill, make sure you look behind you and kill the 3 or 4 of them.
The flash words here turn on lights that stay on permanently, try to turn them all on without getting yourself killed in the process.
The birds can be lethal here. First walk halfway across the bridge to trigger the birds and then head back. Take them out, turning on the flash lights too.
Next, go across the bridge fully and run back again. More birds and a few Taken will spawn. BE CAREFUL.
The plane bit can be hard if you want the collectible and secret area. Taken will spawn continuously here, so do what you need to do quickly. Inside the plane with the collectible can stop some of them getting to you, don't hold back...there is plenty more ammo to find.
The secret area is straight ahead, between the rocks, in the opposite direction to where you need to go. There are useful items in there.
Zane will talk to you for the last time on the wooden platform with the memory and ignite words nearby. This is where the GGITGL achievement starts.
You’ll want to prioritise using the clear words to let more light in to kill Taken around you. Use flares, just save 6 or 7 if you can. Rush through here, kill if you need to, but avoid if you can.
Next up, final battle! Once you burn through the main guy here (no spoilers), stay next to the refrigerator thing at the end of the bridge. This will ensure nothing (except birds) can creep up behind you. Use flares on the birds and stock up only if you can safely. It's not that hard of a battle.
And that is it, DLC finished. Sorry for the long read, I'd just like other people to not repeat the starting segments of the game over and over... Good luck!

This is part of The Writer DLC.
Another no dying achievement, which become just as tiresome as the collectible achievements with this game. You know the drill, play it smart, dodge, use Flares, run when Alan isn't sounding like he needs an oxygen tank, etc. It's as easy as The Signal DLC, so it shouldn't be much more of a challenge.

Complete 'the signal' in one go without dying or restarting to pop this achievement.
Note to self: This video also includes the "Iron Will" achievement where you have to face your own demons without being severely hurt.

Okay. In my opinion, this is the worst DLC in all of Alan Wake - not just this DLC. I spent about a dozen tries before getting it, dying from silly things that were mostly out of my control. Compare that to the same "no reload" achievement in "The Signal", which I did on my first try.
So here's a list of tips:
1. The controls in Alan Wake aren't made for platforming and precise movement, yet the level designs in this DLC implements a lot of such elements. Therefore, be ready to start over and over and over.
2. Go for this achievement last. Maybe you'll accidentally get it while trying to get some of the other achievements, but don't try to get this achivement while going for the others. Also, knowing what to expect will help a lot.
3. Take your time, when you can. Line up jumps. When you get to the whirlwind, I suggest using bridge parts with railing to get around. If the railing is in the way when you're about to jump off, just circle the whirlwind once and it should be clear the second time.
4. When you're fighting on the bridge, take the pump action shotgun with you after you've dealt with both waves of enemies, leaving the rifle behind. The shotgun will be more useful in the barrel area, with its spread shot. Save the flashbangs from the start of this area.
5. In the barrel area, make sure to get the most out of the exploding barrels. You can get a nice domino effect with the exploding barrels, clearing the area all the way to the corner. When you get there, do the same thing, and you should at most have to deal with three taken manually.
6. In the maze/paris wheel, when you get to the vault door, just stand and wait by it. It will open in time without you having to do anything. Then you can just run through the clicker room and into the elevator.
7. In the area with the hanging rope bridges, you can activate three of the Zane inspired lanterns before getting onto the first bridge, and the fourth can be activated before getting completely to the other side. These will help with the crows. Don't be afraid to use some flares to make sure you don't get pushed off by the larger taken on the other side of that bridge. Also, be very careful with the hanging walkways/scaffolding right afterwards, as it is easy for Wake to clumsily walk off here.
8. After the interview scene with Dr. Hartman, you should be pretty much "home free" in regards to easily falling off places. After the plane, just use a flare or two for the taken, and run to the next light.
9. When you get to the lighthouse part, just focus on destroying those large pieces of rock that blocks the light from the lighthouse. In a couple of places it can be a good idea to just lure the taken back towards an area where the lighthouse reaches with its light. And again, don't be afraid to use flares or your flashlight to hold off the taken if they get too close, which they might.
10. When you get to the cabin and the final fight, use your flashbangs on Barry, one for each iteration of him. While this fight isn't exactly hard, this helps make it even easier. Kill off the birds quickly, too.
I hope these tips help a little for anyone trying to get this achievement. Again, in my opinion, this is the worst achievement to get just because it's very easy to be unlucky due to the clunky movement controls. Best of luck to you!

You must not die, reload a checkpoint, or continue later on for this achievement. Choose episodes from the start menu and pick "The Writer". Set the difficulty to normal. Below are tips in specific areas that may help.
- When at the jumping or tilting world areas (when everything is spinning), make sure you take it slow. If you see a door, wait until you can walk through it instead of jumping down it.
- In the area with the explosive barrels, you will have to do your best to time it right. Stay far back from the enemies and kill them if you used up the explosive words.
- The gas station area should be completely avoided. Right when you get out of the door, run left to the Safe Haven Light.
- When crossing the plane, jump down at the tail and jump inside the back. You can fight off Taken from here and they will only be able to throw things at you here and there. Make a break for it after.
- The point with the well has unlimited flares near the car. Get a full stock before moving on.
- If you see any other Safe Haven lights, make a break for it.
- On the bridge with the "Crumble" words, go ahead and light those words up right when you see them as well as stay back. The enemies will sometimes fall in. There is a Safe Haven at the end of the bridge.
- Be careful going up the final climb to the lighthouse. Use all of the "Clear" words and let the light kill all enemies.
- The final battle doesn't require flashbangs, so you can use those for emergency any time you see fit. You should have a good amount of flares (maybe 6-10) to fend off the crows. This is where you should be using your batteries to your advantage to quickly take out the Taken Memories enemies
