How to unlock the Transcend achievement in Ascend Hand of Kul - Definitive Guide

Not working on this guide anymore. Information might be outdated due to updates to the game. If there is something that seems wrong, I have no idea why since I haven't touched this game since I finished working on this guide on the month of this game's release.

This guide is brought to you by myself and Pulssse.

The transcend achievement is a grind-y achievement that requires to reach level 56-60 and have at least 8 ascensions. It is best to ascend as soon as possible in order to both get this achievement and to earn more emblems if you continue to ascend after the first 8 ascensions. Once you hit the 8th ascend, if you want this achievement faster, stop ascending and grind to level 60. Otherwise, you can ascend every moment possible and earn more emblems!

Transending will wipe out everything you have except emblems (reason why you should ascend more) and souls. All weapons, armor, spells, runes, etc. will be removed even if they are legacy items. You will also unlock a pillar in the Gods presence so that you have 2 free pillars to make legacy items with. The story is reset so you do have to go through the entire game again to make everything available again. You do keep your previously ascended champions and your transcending champion becomes one of these champions as well.

It can take 40-60 hours to obtain this achievement when on fast track. If you take your time and collect souls, take back altars/shrines, explore, work on other achievements, etc., it's likely to take longer.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~XP (Experience)~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
1. XP Boost Blessings
- These cost 8,000 Souls to buy and last the normal 30 minutes. But why buy the boosts? If you can get a friend to meet up with you in the game, you can both use them on each other. The best way to meet up with a friend is to just go to the exact same spot as each other and hope you see each other, if not, try a different area.
- These are only obtainable by people in the Void faction unless you make it a Legacy item and carry it over with you to another faction. Even at that point, once they are used up, you will no longer find them in random chests.
- These can be stacked to increase time. Two blessings will lead to a 60min boost. The buff will in fact carry over when you ascend, so don't feel like it's a waste when you really want to ascend.
2. Double XP Boost
- This is less recommended because it costs nearly double the XP Boost Blessings at a cost of 15,000 souls. However, these apply directly to yourself so you don't have to worry about hassling a friend to help you out or a random player giving you a XP Boost Blessing.
3. Executions
- Executions occur on enemies when you have them at low health and the A button pops over their head. Anytime you see that A, instantly hit A, even if the enemy is across the room. The enemy will teleport to you and the execution will occur. You will get the regular experience and then double that on top of that (In the end, you get 3X the experience).
- You want to execute as much as possible for faster and more early experience.
4. Farming ~ Chain Lightning/Black Hole/Meteor Storm
- For this farm, you need to go to Ruined Cliffs, Ring Of Bones. Once you spawn at the warp zone, take a left and head towards the lore area. Get the enemies to spawn and then use either Chain Lightning (maxed upgrades might be best) to take out 'all' of the enemies or utilize Black Hole to make all these enemies go towards one spot for easy killing or even raining down Meteor Storm why you finish up the scraps. I'd actually suggest not going to the Witch Doctors and Ogre afterwards as you can just go to the map and re-warp to the same spot and take the enemies out normally until you spell(s) is ready. At that point, re-warp to the same spot and go at it.
- This video displays the farming method with little to no upgrades on each the Chain Lightning, Black Hole, and Meteor Storms spell. It gets easier and faster with more upgrades.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Souls~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

1. Buying Souls
- Highly unrecommended, unless you honestly have money to blow. It's nice to support the the game, but I'd suggest directly supporting them if possible. Just spend your souls wisely.

2. Store Items
- Also not recommended. All items we have used have been from chests and have done very well. Sure you will see tempting items in the store, but it's pretty much a waste of souls. Now, if you want some of the funnier-looking items or you want to complete the 'style' or 'look' of your character, sure go ahead, but if you are trying to save souls for bigger, more expensive items, don't waste too many in the store.

3. Combos
- Simple, higher combos get you more souls for the kills. However, once you hit the 100 hit combo, you are stuck at 11x souls until you hit the 200 combo mark which brings you up to the 12x souls. So don't worry too much about combos, just try not to get hit.

4. Naked Method
- Repairing items costs a shit ton of souls over time (A level 4 weapon of mine cost 11,000 souls to repair at one point). This method, the Naked Method, requires you to never use your good or main armor unless you are in dire need of it to win a fight against an ascended player. Since you can't just un-equip your armor, you need to put a crappy armor set on and once that armor set is broken, don't change your armor. This way, you never have to pay souls for repairing your armor. You will have to pay souls for repairing/upgrading your weapon, but that's nothing compared to all armor as well.

- You might die a little more without armor, but if you play smart and utilize spells a lot (less weapon usage), you will play the game with ease while naked. I've been using the naked method for a while and been able to buy whatever I want for the most part (Transmutation, Confuse, etc.) without worry.

5. Chests ~ Hand Of Kul Chest
- You can always just not fight enemies, go throughout the map (dungeons especially), and just get the items from chests and sell them for a lot of souls.

- The chest that gives you the Gold item after you beat Kul actually refreshes just like every regular chest, so make sure to grab this every day you play!!!!!!!

- The location of the chest is in the Mount Crimhorn zone under the Hand Of Kul level at the top of the steps.

6. Selling Items
- Make sure to sell all Weapons, Armor, Boosts, Runes, & Curses that you don't have as a Legacy item or don't plan on making a Legacy item. When you are ready to ascend, go through your inventory and sell these items as they will just disappear otherwise.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Other Information~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
~ To 'ascend' to the top of the throne-based leaderboard, you need to have the highest staged gear and most expensive, fully upgraded spells. This entails ascending with spells that cost 40,000 souls and up with all upgrades, having your armor and weapon at stage V, etc. This is only current information though, it is possible that it could change.
This was told to us by xShadowStormx himself.
- When you ascend, all chest reset except for the chests in the area you are in!
~ If you ascend with broken armor, the armor shows as equipped and the stats are still added to the character. I tried to transcend naked, but the armor shows up with their full stats.
You can always tell us what you know in here bro. I'm usually streaming when I'm on or with friends so I honestly don't invite people. Nothing against you, but I tell this to everyone. :
Not everyone in the thrones have the 'best' gear, but everyone under them probably has worse gear. Very few people actually know how to get higher up on that leaderboard which would lead to low scores. You also have to realize, their spells are a huge part of this. If they have maxed out spells, it will give them more points. If they are using higher end spells, they will provide more points. For example, AniraSnowMew has level V gear which would provide a shit ton of points I would assume. On the other hand, Lost x Mookie has Black Hole, Confuse, Chain Lightning, Lighting Shield, and Meteor Storm which is mainly high costing spells and if they are maxed out or upgraded a lot, that would provide a lot of points too. I could be wrong, but it is what he told us so I can't exactly change it without proof.
@almighty jei, you lose everything but souls and emblems once you transcend, so I'm confused at your comment, lol.
Btw, the floor 10 dungeon is supposed to be Whitestone Gardens according to the game at the main menu screen, but Illuminated Path also had 10 floors when I explored it. Feel free to let me know if the other faction dungeons are now 10 floors as well so I can either drop the old information on them or update them with 10 floors (might just drop detailed information and provide basic information).
This is true Almighty. But a guide will still help those who want it now and then even later. Once the endless dungeon becomes available, that will be my suggestion for leveling. We actually plan on transcending at least once before the additional content drops just so we can start fresh with our wisened-state of the game.
you have to ascend a minimum of 8 times, and reach the level cap of 60
Yes, it requires time.
How the heck do you return to the gold chests after you beat Kul?
The chest is located at the portal where you teleported from to fight him. It's in the Mount Crimhorn zone in the Hand of Kul area.
Bellsten, that is a fantastic help. Even after ascending 6 times, it still levels me quickly. The only thing I would suggest in addition is that after you set up the chain attack is to move a little closer and spam 'A.' This will allow you to pick up some extra xp and your lightening will keep going.
Yes, we found out later that the 2x boost blessing is Void only (I'm void so this was not something I would have seen at ease).
@Blueberrypete, there is only the one chest that shows up there after the first time. It's the chest that always gives you a gold item helmet. I will add the direct location next time I update. I thought it was quite obvious, but since this is a guide, I should never assume you guys know something, my bad. ^_^
We found out about the XP Farming area a while ago, but haven't gotten to the recording of videos yet as we usually stream while we play and work on the guide(twitch.tv/zelink & twitch.tv/pulssse). We will add videos at some point of our own with better quality as well.
Sorry guys, I will get around to more updates soon, been really busy streaming. For those people giving negative votes, at least tell us why? I understand it's not perfect, but I have literally never done this before as I usually keep quiet and keep to myself/friends.
Thanks for the reply, a few extra tips.
1) You can stack up the double xp from void several times. eg; 30 mins + 30 mins = 60 mins of buff
2) also the xp buff carries over when you ascend.
3) you can use blackhole instead of chain lightning, and melee the gathered mobs for a huge combo bonus. you can alternate between blackhole and lightning for faster boosting as you'll avoid the waiting between cooldowns.
4) when you transcend at lvl 60, YOU LOSE spells, legacy weapons, etc. However you keep the emblems and souls, these are the only things you keep. BE WARNED, do the other achievements (like 2000 armor, 200 weapon) before transcending, because you will lose everything but emblems and souls.
@Blueberry, even if you ascend at the max level each time? Or is this that only if you ascend at least 8 times as fast as possible?
The only thing I'm certain of is that I got this achievement by transcending at lvl 56, and your guide is completely wrong in claiming that lvl 60 is required.
You can always delete the post @XGC ;p
My question was kind of dodged as I asked whether or not you can still transcend if you do your first ascension at level 20(max level only ascensions), will you still be able to transcend at level 56? I updated for the range of 56-60, but until that question is solidified, calling the guide completely wrong is quite barbaric. I will most likely found out tonight/tomorrow the answer to my question.
Does the game autosave after getting the achievement? It'd be nice to have the game completed, but suck to lose everything.
The thing is, I didn't speedrun it. As mentioned, I did the entire storyline and the collectibles in those 25 hours, and I did said collectibles without a guide... so I was exploring every little nook and cranny looking for them. I also did most of the optional dungeons (not all), and I did the 10-level event twice. When I finished everything else in the game, I started farming XP for this.
If I HAD been speedrunning it, with a guide for collectibles, purely racing from checkpoint to checkpoint, and having double XP on from the beginning, I could cut that 25 hours down considerably.
The update last night made the XP grinding method take a lot longer. It still works, it's just a lot slower.
Also, I was a little confused about when to transcend - I had eight ascensions and was level 55, and I was wondering if I had to ascend a final time to transcend. Nope, it will specifically say "transcend" on the crusade screen when it's your time (level 57 for me). Just throwing that out there in case anyone else was wondering.
See that is helpful information on the time in which you can transcend. ^ That means it is based on when you first ascend and what level it was at which would range from about 56-60. So thank you for that.
Yes, I am sure. I've been to level 10 of both Whitestone Gardens and Illuminated Path (don't know if they meant to make this a 10 floor dungeon). A viewer in my chat attests that he has seen Dark & Void faction members at around floor 7. Also, the void and dark gods are supposed to offer better ascend bribes. These effects will occur until the 9th (both 10 floor dungeons and the increased bribes).
I find that using buffs/boosts is the most obvious thing that people can do to to help make the process easier, but I've never been a fan of spending souls to get souls. If your armor never 'breaks' that is technically still the naked method since the goal of the naked method is to not spend souls on repairing armor. But thank you for the additional nudge. I will attempt to note areas that can utilize boosts/blessings next update.
Oh, I understand why you brought it up. The main reason I die using the method is because I rarely block (bad fighting game habit I've always had), but deaths definitely are more likely to happen.
And yes, I skipped most of the last 3-4 floors to get the chests.
@ZelinkTheOne
I mean can you Transcend, get the achievement, and dashboard so when you log back on you won't have transcended but will have the achievement?
This game autosaves a lot, so I'm guessing 'no.'
Whoa, that time estimate is way off. It took me 25 hours to complete the storyline from beginning to end, get the collectibles, and grind this out. That's going by Raptr.com playtime, so it's not just from memory. I had done all of the other achievements in the beta, so it may take longer if you need to do those.
How is it way off? I said if you are on fast track which would be gunning for that achievement as soon as possible. I got the achievement in about 60-70 hours while doing the other achievements, working on this guide, etc. I even just checked my time played and it's at 76:41:26 as of my last ascension which was about 10 minutes ago. That is why I said it could take more than 60 hours to complete if you do everything else as well.
Added my farming video to the guide. It shows the uses of Chain Lightning, Black Hole, & Meteor Storm. This way, no matter which faction you are in, you have a spell for the farming.
Personally, I just think that the time is a little exaggerated. You said "40-60 hours to obtain this achievement when on fast track", but I did storyline + collectibles + transcend in 25. You could get every other achievement in the game while playing those 25, especially since you're grinding for level 55+ (and getting a bunch of souls in the process), so saying 40-60 "on the fast track" for JUST this achievement... it seems off to me.
I don't see how you getting it done in 25 hours represents something for everyone to set their goals for. Not to mention you not quoting the entire quote which clearly states, "It can take 40-60 hours...". Key word is can. It also seems like you purely did the XP farming if you got it within 25 hours. Not everyone likes to play that way and actually rather go through dungeons and get loot whether to find better items, cooler looking items, get more souls, etc.
Saying it can take 40-60 hours is about as accurate as it can probably get for a wide population. If we were to talk about speedrunning the game, then 40-60 would be too much.
Yes, I farmed for XP after finishing everything else. I imagine most people, at least those reading a solution for it, would do the same. When you are done everything else, there's really only two choices: go for the last achievement (farm) or quit playing. And by "done", I mean, done playing, not simply done with the other achievements. I wasn't exactly farming when I was running past enemies on the 10-level event to get gear that I didn't need for the XP.
I think you're taking my comments a little too personally, I was simply trying to help your otherwise great guide. My view is, the people who would bother reading this guide are those who just want this final achievement, and thus, "boring", "grind", "farming", etc are not obstacles. Go look at the guides for any other grindy achievement and see whether they focus on "boring and speedy" or "fun and slow." Telling people that this will take 40+ hours is misleading, especially when you include a farming video that uses the same method I did (minus meteor storm).
I'm done arguing this point, and I'll even give your guide a thumbs up, but we're going to have to agree to disagree.
When you transcend, is the level cap lost?
0
0
By AndyMcBrandy on 07 Oct 2013 05:08
When you transcend, it's like restarting the game. The entire story is reset and the original level cap goes back to 20 (which would then again be increased every time you ascend).
Not really worth it, but yes, 25 hours is what I hit. That's what Raptr.com is reporting. It's possible that the number is off by an hour one way or the other, but the site is generally accurate.
So yeah. Storyline, optional dungeons, events, blah blah. I was level 30-32, something like that, when I finished everything. That's ascending whenever possible. From there, I farmed / "boosted" until I could transcend.
Didn't spend a dime on souls.
@daeryoon, A walkthrough would require a lot more than what I had attended on doing. At this point, I don't even know if I will 'add' much more from my own knowledge other than adding the finishing touch on the dungeons (the last section which I have, but just haven't added yet) as well as a couple more videos displaying all of the faction spells. But I will come back whenever there is a message to either respond or update the 'guide'. Thank you for liking our work!
I have no qualms with MMMDI getting the achievement in 25 hours. It's very feasible, but like I said, most people won't get it that fast, otherwise many people would have it by now (not just 27).
Regarding the xp farming method at Ring of Bones with chain lightning etc., does anyone have an idea of how many times you do that to get a full level?
I have been farming on the crimhorn summit where we have 2 shrines and 1 altar with a whole lot of humans around. If you select an opposing faction and clean up the altar area of all humans, I get a whole level in 4 attempts. It seems to me that killing humans gets much more xp than trolls. A small troll typically is around 23 xp, and you can kill 8-10 humans for 6-7 xp each with just 1 stomp. Also, area spells like ice blast and black hole work on humans too, so you can just go into a human populated area and fire black hole ... it will pull in a lot of xp
By LinuBaba on 15 Oct 2013 18:09
Another quick method for killing groups is using Black Hole (Void spell) to gather enemies and then hitting them with fireball (Dark spell). The fireball does area of effect damage. With Fireball and Black Hole maxed out, you should be able to black hole and fire all enemies to death of any type. You might need to melee them a few times as well, which is easy since they are bunched together. This is also a quick way to get through dungeons for loot. For the large enemies, simply stun them with Ionized Bolt (Light Spell) and melee four times, then repeat. When you run out of Bolt spells, just walk/run away and use Seekers (Void Spell), or Fireballs to keep damage and your chain going.
Been a while since I've dealt with this game, but if you want to transcend as soon as possible and you've already ascended 8 times, keep leveling until the game asks if you want to transcend, not ascend. I think level 56 is the minimal needed to transcend after 8 ascensions.
Ok, I read all the comments here except the arguing over what he said she said about the hours it takes to transcend haha. Anyways, I have a question. I don't understand why if I'm lvl whatever, and I ascend, do I drop back down? my 1st ascention was lvl 8, not 5 so I'm kinda behind anyways, my last ascention was lvl 28, why did I drop back down to a lvl 22 after I ascended? Now it's saying I have to get back to lvl 33(cuz that's 5 above 28). I don't get why I'm dropping back down. You can't really ascend every 5 levels if it drops you down 11 freaking lvls.. I don't understand, am I doing something wrong?
By Nurse Lorax on 27 Nov 2013 15:29
No, that's what happens. You ascend 5 levels higher than your last ascension, but since you go back some levels, it takes more than 5 levels to obtain the needed level. The 5 level thing is just the difference between when you ascend and the next level that is required to ascend. If I'm not mistaken, the later ascends take you back 10 or so levels.
It's every 5 levels past the level you last ascended at, and you get bopped down a few levels each time you do it. That's the whole reason you should do it as early as possible every time until you've done 8 of them, at which point you keep going until it instead lets you transcend.
Well there is an endless dungeon now, it appears that any alignment can now buy double xp for self and xp for others, its available to me no matter what alignment.
I did however ascend void three times, and light three times, dark only once. Appears I can buy all boosts for void and light but not dark.
Perhaps if you ascend two to three times with a alignment you can permanently buy that alignments spells?
You have to be Void and beat a certain part of the story. switch over to void when you can. TIP: the weekly challenge ends in 12hours from now and dark will win. If you can switch to dark by then, do it. You will get week long gear protection
I take no credit for this XP boosting video, it was posted over at the Ascend forum. I tried this and it seems to work really great, however i don't have any powerful magic at the moment to easily kill all of the enemies. So it doesn't work 100% efficiently for me yet, but the XP is indeed good and obviously it will be a lot better with 2x XP.
I don't think you read my posts properly or you don't comprehend what I say at all..... nowhere did I say that you were speedrunning the game. I said that it can take 40-60 hours to obtain this achievement (once again the keyword is 'can') and that if this were to be speedrun, that 40-60 would then be too much time to even make sense.
You said...
"It also seems like you purely did the XP farming if you got it within 25 hours. Not everyone likes to play that way and actually rather go through dungeons and get loot whether to find better items, cooler looking items, get more souls, etc."
...which implies that my 25 hours were spent going for this achievement, which I disagree with. I played the game how I assume most play - story, enjoyment, fun, yatta yatta, and then mopping up at the end.
It's true that it CAN take 40-60, but it's also true that it could take 400-600... I just think that 40-60 is too high for even the average player.
0
0
By MMMDI on 06 Oct 2013 18:08
You openly admitted to farming for the XP after doing the storyline which is what I was implying. And yes, it would imply you working towards this achievement the entire time (whether or not you agree, as an achievement person, you are always working towards an achievement like this as soon as you start, with or without knowing it) considering it is the end all type of achievement. It would be unwise to get this achievement before any other achievement for that reason.
Now you're just making delusional statements by stating 400-600 hours. We all can obviously see you think that 40-60 is too high, you seem to state that way too often even though I think it's the perfect range for a wide population.....which I have to restate because you seem to keep disagreeing even though it's a subjective statement. I'd rather let people know that it could take a couple days than tell them it takes about a day and then have them feel sad for not accomplishing it within that small margin of a time.
An 'average' player isn't one who truly cares about getting stuff done the fastest, but in the least boring way possible which would not be the farming method that does the best in the experience factor.
By ZelinkTheOne on 06 Oct 2013 18:32
I can easily agree to disagree, but you are the only person to have said anything about getting it in under 40 hours that has made a response on one of the solutions. I even checked the first solution that was posted and one of them said it took them 49 hours. Mind you, that was before this guide was made, so in retrospect, with all the information I have provided, it should cut down a whole lot of time for people who have read the guide and/or have looked into the farming. Shit, the guide had 8 negative votes which only implies that there are people out there that don't even look into the entire guide. Instead, they just see the basic first couple of paragraphs going over the achievement itself.
I can see where I come off as a d-bag and I apologize. If we were talking in person, I feel this would have gone much better. But because we are using a forum based system, we are forced to make judgments on what we read whether we are right or wrong about those judgments. I appreciate the thumbs up and compliments on the guide especially since it is the first time I have attempted a guide for an actual game and gotten a developer to read over it as well (props to xShadowStormx for being an awesome developer and someone who looks into the game's community not only on social media, but on Twitch). I've made guides and articles on decks for a card game before, so yeah. ;p
Transcended at level 56 after ascending as soon as possible every time until I had done it 8 times. Something to add might be that you do not have to ascend under the same god every time, I was a bit worried the game would pull something like that. Also, all this talk about the throne room and all that ought to be taken elsewhere, it made me worried I'd need a fully upgraded high level spell or level V gear or something like that just to transcend, which is of course not the case. Good solution though, but far too long, makes the achievement seem a lot more complicated than it really is. A summary of the requirements and a rundown of the grinding method would have been enough. The alignment dungeon list is nice though, helped me know where to go when the enemies in the grind area were getting a bit too high leveled for my weapon to deal with.
First off, why would I take a guide down when it was relevant in the first place.
I did say I was updating it, back when I was actually playing the game and working on the guide. If I bother to update the post to take that out, it will just take away the last date of being actually updated which leads to the second point:
Secondly, if they are too stupid to see the last time the guide was updated, that's their fault. Updates to games happen all the time and people should realize that.
This is the fastest way to boost experience in this game. This is a very fast, but costly method. You can also use xp boosts, or get a friend to give you xp blessings. The same can be done with curses, a friend can curse you, preferably off to the side, so it doesn't get destroyed, thus allowing you to gain a little more xp. A spell as powerful as this one is also very costly to upgrade. One of the upgrades allows for two uses, instead of one, to make this go much faster. You will be able to gain souls very quickly this way. Since an attack like this will take some time to recharge, what I would do is warp to the same location and attack using your weapon, and another spell if you choose to. If you decide to give a negative vote, please state why in the comments. The credit for this video goes to GT: Skorge, Youtube account: JoelRozier.
This is amazing, thanks a bunch. However, even using a near-maxed Meteor Storm I was waiting sometimes for Chain Lightning to come back. I personally found my best method added using an XP Boost and also an Ability Cooldown Boost because even with 2 Chain Lightnings and all Cooldown Upgrades, I was having to wait sometimes because the method was so perfect, lol. Thanks FreshPrince513!
This is pretty awesome. I've found you should stay slightly to the left of the path (facing outwards). Otherwise, it occasionally kills some of them too fast and the spell ends before the next wave spawns.
You can also have friends and/other players set curses down for you, thus giving you more enemies. Preferably off to the side of the path, like near the fence, to avoid the curse pillar being broken by your weapon/spells.
Since an attack like this will take some time to recharge, what I would do is warp to the same location and attack using your weapon, and another spell if you choose to. If you decide to give a negative vote, please state why in the comments. The credit for this video goes to GT: Skorge, Youtube account: JoelRozier.
Is this just for Light Caos as I couldn't find Chain Lightening when playing as a Void Caos?
You would need to be a Light Caos to obtain this spell. Afterwards, you can change your god, and keep your spell if you'd like.
Nice. Just ascended and changed to Light. Bought the spell and works like a charm, cheers.
Just to add, if you can afford it, upgrade the spell and you get 2 uses out of it allowing for quicker XP
You can also have friends and/other players set curses down for you, thus giving you more enemies. Preferably off to the side of the path, like near the fence, to avoid the curse pillar being broken by your weapon/spells.
This is amazing, thanks a bunch. However, even using a near-maxed Meteor Storm I was waiting sometimes for Chain Lightning to come back. I personally found my best method added using an XP Boost and also an Ability Cooldown Boost because even with 2 Chain Lightnings and all Cooldown Upgrades, I was having to wait sometimes because the method was so perfect, lol. Thanks FreshPrince513!
This is pretty awesome. I've found you should stay slightly to the left of the path (facing outwards). Otherwise, it occasionally kills some of them too fast and the spell ends before the next wave spawns.
Not so sure this works as good anymore. The enemies simply don't spawn fast enough.
Did the patch this? I try but like DragonFangDan said they don't spawn fast enough, I only had it kill all enemies once and I don't know what was different
Great video. I think they made a slight change as the secondary wave is taking alot longer to spawn now, but this method is still really good just takes more work now.
UPDATE: I believe this achievement is now unobtainable as the servers have now been shut down.
Hey guys, there are already some fantastic solutions up here so this is more just some helpful advice. I believe I have found THE FASTEST way to gain experience. As you probably know blessings and boosts are stackable timewise. I have discovered however that having both the week long(purple boosts) and regular half hour(yellow boosts) stack the effect of the boost rather than the length of the boost. Unfortunately the week long double xp boost costs 225,000 souls on its own, plus another 15000 for a regular, but its well worth it in the long run. Unfortunately I discovered this little trick on my last level :P but hopefully it will save you guys boatloads of time. This is my first solution so please be gentle ^_^. If you have anything you think I should add or find something to be incorrect please don't hesitate to notify me and I will do my best to fix the problem. Happy hunting guys!!
Update: Credit goes to ricochez for confirming it is indeed x3 xp with both the week long and regular boosts purchased. Additionally he informed me that curses stay even if you turn your xbox off so apparently never destroy curses(not sure if you have to start in the same area or if you can start in the sanctum and return to the area and the curse will still be there.).
some infos about curses:
- 1 -
they stay even turn off your xbox, but they will disappear after a real time week.
So if you have a nice curse set up, you should better grind until you hit the requierements. if you wait too long and don't touch the game for a while, you have to start over with 0 curses.
- 2 -
there is a maximum of curses you can have... if you have too many, the older curses are replaced with the newer ones.
- 3 -
now i share a secret with you - you can create a "triple" curse if you grab a human, eat it and summon a curse 3 times during the animation. (press B very fast). the good thing about a triple curse: you see only one stone, but there a three in the same space. If you create such a curse in a good position, it's easier to grind.
So are you saying as opposed to double exp, it becomes quad?
it is also worth noting that this applies to all boosts(magic damage, attack speed, run speed etc.) as i had most of the week longs purchased by the time i finished.
8th acension, working on the 9th (Level 41 until next acsension, 55 being the cap), and about 650k total xp, almost there or is that halfway?
reports say you must ascend a minimum of 8 times and can transcend at 56, for some reason i feel with your level you are on your seventh working on your eighth but either way, you are close.
More like 9 total ascensions and then the 10th being Transcending, I just worked my way up to 15000 souls bought a xp boost, grinded until I got 15000 more souls, anything left was surplus and went to spells, then bought another xp boost when the first one ran out and kept doing that over and over again. After ascending, dungeon diving for throw away weapons, armor (sold them when they broke), curses/blessings, and power ups (only used my legacy items when I got close to ascending then repaired them when I picked legacy items again), rinse repeat and finally transceded at level 56
I am just going to throw my 2 cents worth regarding the Ring of Bones as to maybe assist anyone scrambling (like myself) to get this done before the servers close on November 18th.
These are the tips I have discovered playing the game, and specifically grinding using the Ring of Bones method. Results may vary depending on how you play the game.
MY CAOS BACKGROUND: I went with the Light god primarily throughout the campaign with the exception of a few ascensions in order to obtain the Carving a Path achievement. I just ascended for the 9th time (yes, I was not up to date with the transcend concept and ascended 9 times, not 8...it was a kick in the pants for me to realize that once the lvl cap of 60 is seen after your 8th ascension, all you need to do is keep leveling your caos until the "Ascend" options changes to "Transcend"...) and my Caos has increased attack speed, movement speed, double damage on crits, and a plethora of other goodies. I have never bought any souls during my time on this game, nor have I needed to for any reason for this boosting method.
RING OF BONES METHOD: For those not aware of the Ring of Bones grinding method, look at any of the other solutions here - they all describe it well.
SANCTUM FORGE: I was using the forge for awhile, and then I realized how much of a waste of time it actually is.
Most of the time I would find my weapon needed to be upgraded at least once, maybe twice, in a 30 minute period. Cost to repair my weapons would range, depending on their level, from 10k to 15k souls. That sucks - it could be 30k souls gone during one use of the double exp boost. So, basically, in 30 minutes I just used 45k souls, and now I am going to run back to the sanctum to repair my gear that takes, what again? 46 hours to repair 100%?!?!
Yeah, fuck you Signal Studios...
BOOSTS FOR GRINDING: There are two that you need to alleviate a lot of stress with this game: Gear Protection (10K) and Double EXP (15K).
Gear Protection: This will save you on souls in a huge way - instead of wasting time with the Sanctum forge, you can just not have to repair your gear at all - ever again. When I figured this out, it made EVERYTHING easier. No more wasting souls on repairing crap, and no more waiting 2 days for my gear to be back to pristine, and then mess it all up again in a 30 minute grinding session. Do yourself a favor and use this one.
Double Exp Boost: Does this really need an explanation?
"But Mimic, I don't have 25k souls to just throw around!" says the guy who does not understand the soul/combo relationship.
Higher combos equal higher rewards. Once you get to a 100 hit combo, your souls received have a x11 multiplier. And getting a 100 hit combo is fairly easy to do, all you have to do is not use magic.
No chain lightning.
No meteor storm.
No black hole.
Go straight up melee, and build your combos. I was averaging ~3k souls a run, not using any magic, and building a high combo every run, which averaged out to a minute or less. Add in the loading screen, and the time it takes you to initiate the enemy spawn, and you are looking at (at most) 2 minutes per run.
The combo that will be your bread and butter for this is X,X,Y (using a sword with reach is preferred). Some of the shield trolls will break your rhythm if you go straight X combos, and using Y constantly will leave an opening for a little guy to squeeze in a hit. X,X,Y will mess up the shield guys, and cover you 360 degrees leaving next to no room for a cheap shot.
15 runs in a 30 minute period x 3k souls = 45,000 souls.
Now, use 10,000 souls for the Gear protection, and 15,000 for another EXP boost, and you are in the black 20k.
No more forge BS, no need for repairing your gear - just straight up grinding that will bore the crap out of you.
Lastly, if you want experience, go for the executions (A button on weakened enemy). If you want souls, do not go for executions. Executions will leave you open for a hit 9 times out of 10, so if you have a 100+ combo going on, and a little guy is ready to have his face crushed, weigh which you prefer in that moment: exp or cash.
Honestly, many of my runs are for souls (got to 150K easily in a few grinding sessions) but I will plan which runs before are for exp. The executions are fantastic for leveling quickly, especially with the Double EXP boost. After 45 shield guys will give bonus execution experience of over 200 (x2! clap) and little guy are over 120.
Help an be helped Ring of bones farming Method:
As general guide you may use ZelinkTheOne's guide.
This method is based on Chain Lightning/Black Hole/Meteor Storm method.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Fill the zone whith enemies from other players curses, and obtain masive souls and experience x2 from other player blessings, boosting casting time will help.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Video:
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
First, be prepared:
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
1 Buy some wolves and trolls curses
2 Buy some bless like expr x2 and acceletate casting time
3 Maximice your spels Chain Lightning and Black Hole
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Go to the and Ring of Bones map. At Ruined Cliffs Zone
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Now its time to help and be helped by others online players:
You can suggest other players to
exchange curses and blessings using voice, but if chat don't work:
1 Cast some wolve or Troll curse to other players in the cormer side of the spawn zone
2 Whait for other players reaction
3 As long as you se the other players casting curses or blesings, start:
For Souls cast curses to fill the area whith basic enemies from other olayers (only 3 curses for player)
For experience cast XP Boost Blessings
For a better farming cast casting boost time
If you are lucky, you will be granted whith other players spells in the same way and both of you will have the spawn zone full of enemies and a nice an stackable experience x2
Don’t hit the objects that let the enemies apear, any time you spawn at RING OF BONES the enemies from the cursed object will appear
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Lets start farming:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Once you spawn walk left side and break the palesade, without hit any enemy, when you take your way back and more enemies spawn, now you can cast Black Hole and use a two handed weapon for a X,X,Y Combo, do it Twice, you will have a X7 multiplier then cast Chain Lightning and keep doing X,X,Y Combo you can get a X11 o X12 multiplier easily. And enemies will still spawing from the cursed pole.
When enemies are died and spels are finnished, respawn in the zone using the map spawn zone.
From ObssesiveArcher: '' you can warp in the same map saving loading time''
You can winn:
More than 10.000 souls at each respawn
1 level each 10 min.
I apologize for my poor English, I hope it helps
Just to add to both these great guides, if you manage to have a friend playing as a Void caos ( or someone who has used theyre xp boost as a legacy item ) get them to meet you and bless you. Add a double xp boost and this should help reduce the grind.
Just to add, if you ascend as soon as it becomes available then you should be able to transcend at lvl 56. Took me just under 28 hours from start to finish so not too bad a grind.
12 Oct 2013 19:40
In order to transcend, you must reach at least level 60. This requires at least 8 ascensions to get the level cap that high. Transcending will reset your game progress but you get to keep your emblems!
6
21 Sep 2013 16:49
Here you need to reach level 60 and reset to 1. Everything will start again, but with the equipment that you had. Enjoy watching bosses die in 3 seconds
