How to unlock the Time Travel Will Tell achievement in Call of Duty: Black Ops III - Definitive Guide
To start, you will need four players in your game throughout the game for this to work. For gobblegums I recommend having some Immolation Liquidations if you have any as they can help you acquire the 31-79 JGb215 (colloquially known as the shrink ray or baby maker) which is needed for this achievement. Any rare gobblegums such as Perkaholic and Shopping Free should also really help in getting set up for this quest. Anywho, let's get started with the actual guide to getting Time Travel Will Tell.
Firstly, there is something called Eclipse which is a mode you will have to be in for most of these steps, and it requires all four players to cooperate. After turning on the power, in the spawn room around quick revive there are four circular buttons at eye level in each corner of the small area. All four players must press these buttons at the same time with to initiate Eclipse. NOTE: You will have to do this multiple times throughout, and I will note when you do. It is also a time-limited mode so you must complete the task at hand in a timely manner.
Step 1: Turn on the power, as is the norm in zombies. If you are new to the map, it is essentially one large circle with there being two barriers to leave the spawn room that inevitably lead you to the power room underground. There will be two power switches to turn on right next to each other.
Step 2: Activate Eclipse mode in the spawn room, and have one or two people watching the last zombies in spawn. Two players need to go through either side of the spawn room for this step. The player who is to the left of Quick Revive if you are looking at the perk machine should go down the little hill and before going into the tunnel, turn right and on the giant pillar-object there is a button like the one in spawn. Press this button and dialogue will begin and several squares will appear on the ground on both sides next to the spawn room.
For this step, one player must step on a tile, see what symbol appears on it, and back off of the tile. They should then call out to the other player to start stepping on all of their symbols to check for a matching one. The second player can call back to the first that they are on the right symbol, and the first player can step back on. If the two players happen to be standing on mismatching symbols, you must re-do any tiles you have already matched, so watch where you and your teammates step. Symbols on the waterfall side can be found at either end of the bridge, but none are down the tunnel. There are 12 symbols in total, depicted here:
(I'm not sure who made this image but I will give credit if someone could inform me.)
If done correctly, there will be some dialogue and the Eclipse will end.
Step 3: Enter Eclipse mode again. Three players should be standing at the bottom of the water slide, and the easiest way of getting there from spawn is through the mud room, then left to the slide itself. Once three players are in position, the fourth should go down the water slide while holding to flip a switch. If done correctly, Eclipse should end.
Step 4: Enter Eclipse mode again. Go to the entrance of the water slide and look up. There should be a white crystal sitting on the cliffside. Knock it down with an explosive such as grenades or a ray gun. Once it is on the ground, shoot it with the 31-79 JGb215 to shrink it. Knife the crystal and follow it down the slide and up the geyser. Once done correctly, the eclipse should end.
Step 5: For this step you will need a Napalm Zombie. It is one of two special zombies on the map, the other being the Screecher. The first time a special zombie will spawn in is round 4, and after that they will begin to randomly spawn through the rounds. You will know one is spawning when you see flames rising from the ground and your screen is surrounded in fire. Be very careful as getting too close will cause it to explode and you will have to wait for another.
Note: As Bastian Reader has commented below, in Black Ops III if you stray too far from the Napalm Zombie it will despawn and come back as a normal zombie, so keep an eye on it the whole time you need it.
Once you have one spawned in, activate Eclipse mode. At the left side of the spawn (Looking at Quick Revive) go into the tunnel and there should be valve wheel. Spin the wheel four times and lead the Napalm Zombie through this tunnel all the way to the power room. Your goal is to have the Napalm light four gas leaks coming from pipes along the way, and it should light all four on fire on the way there. When they are all lit, go back to the valve and pull the lever next to it with .
Step 6: Enter Eclipse mode again. Buy Trip Mines which can be found in the power room, across from the gobblegum machine. Go to the waterfall side of the map and into the tunnel leading down to the water. Along the walls are four holes which can be plugged by throwing trip mines on the ground and having zombies trigger them. Once all four are plugged, go down to the water and there should be a brick on the rock structure in the center of the water that says 'Don't hold ' when you go near it. Do the unthinkable and hold and you will complete the step.
Step 7: Enter Eclipse mode again. There will be 12 tiles along the walls around the map identical to the ones you stepped on in the second step. You must knife all of these tiles so that the symbols light up on all of them. There are 5 in the spawn area, 2 by the minecart, 2 in the mudpit area, and 3 underground near the spawn. Once all 12 are lit up, go to the minecart area and look outside the map in the leaves. There should be a small structure made of wooden sticks. Through a grenade to blow this structure up and you will complete the step.
Step 8: Enter Eclipse mode again. In the four corners of the mudpit are four wheels with symbols for each direction. You want all four of these wheels to be in the correct augmentation. If you are in the mudpit looking directly at the spawn room, the wheel on the right should have the symbol that looks like four dots in a row pointing up. The wheel on the opposite wall should have three dots in a row as the top symbol. The perpendicular wheel should have a large C, a line, and a dot as the top symbol. The last wheel should have a single dot. The eclipse should end and you are done with this step.
Have the 31-79 JGb215 pack-a-punched. If you don't know how to Pack-a-Punch, there are four panels to be stepped on around the map. One across the bridge from spawn, one in spawn, one in the tunnel near the minecart area, and one in the power room between the switches. Pressing all of those lets players go up the staircase inside spawn for a short amount of time and upgrade their weapons.
Step 9: Enter Eclipse mode again. Around the minecart area, waterfall area, and spawn are gongs which can be knifed to produce a sound. Through trial and error, you must knife the four correct gongs in a row. A gong is right if the crystals on the stands above spawn do not glow. But if they glow red, the gong you just knifed is incorrect. Once you know all four of the good gong locations, knife them all and the crystals should glow a bright color. Go under the crystal near the minecart and shoot it with the upgraded 31-79 JGb215. It will drop dynamite which you must catch by holding . Failing to do so just means you have to enter eclipse and do the gongs again.
After this, go to the spawn and look left if you are looking up the staircase. Shoot the crystal above the mud room with the 31-79 JGb215. The shot should bounce around and shrink the meteor above the temple.
Step 10: Make sure you are in Eclipse. Open the pack-a-punch again and go up to where the machine would be and there should be a wall. Hold on the wall to give them the dynamite. Back away from the wall and eclipse should end. Go back up the stairs and on an altar is the Focusing Stone. Pick it up and everyone unlocks the achievement. However, only the player that picks up the stone will get permanent perks for that game. You can re-do the quest in the same game over and over so more people can get the perks.
Please leave any complaints or suggestions in the comments. Good luck everyone!
This entire method MUST be done in FOUR PLAYER CO-OP. It is NOT possible with only 1, 2 or 3 players in the match.
Remember:
a) The eclipse/travelling to the past must be activated before each step is attempted and imposes a time limit for completion of each of the steps.
b) If you realise you have done something wrong, re-do the process correctly. If it still does not work then complete the next round and make more crawlers and try again. If this does not solve the issue then you may need to restart the game.
What you will need in order of use:
+ 4 players all with a few hours of free time and connections that wont drop out
+ Juggernog [optional, but highly recommended for all players in the game]
[!] Shrink-ray from the random box for steps 8., 18. and 19. [must be pack-a-punched for steps18. and 19.]
[!!] Any explosives to later release a crystal [frags/semtex/ray-gun/china-lake/crossbow]
[!!!] 4 trip mines to later plug up the 4 waterfall cave holes
[!!!!] Any explosives to later destroy a trap [frags/semtex/monkey-bomb]
POWER
1. Buy the RK5, take one window each and do not leave spawn. Allow zombies to enter spawn through the windows before killing them so that they will drop power-ups. Take the power-up if it’s a double points, max ammo or random perk bottle. If not, allow a monkey to randomise it then kill the monkey with your RK5s until you receive one of the aforementioned three. Farm points by shooting zombies in the leg multiple times with your pistol and then stabbing them in the early rounds. Start going for headshots with the RK5 at round 4. Create crawler(s) near round 5’s end. In order to create a crawler simply aim any explosive at a zombie's legs. If you do not wish to have to babysit your crawlers to prevent them from dying do not lay down any spikemores.
2. Open all doors and clear all debris on the map EXCEPT the debris beside the trip mines and M16. Follow the chalk lightning bolts to the underground power room. Switch the power on by holding on both of the water-wheel power switches. Find the random box and attain a decent weapon each. If a player receives the shrink-ray[31-79 JGb215] at any point they should keep it and at least some of its ammunition throughout this entire easter-egg.
BO3 specifically: You can use Shopping Free to open up the entire map on round 1 and thus do a lot of steps on round 1.
STEPPING STONES
3. Activate eclipse. In order to do so each of the 4 players must each stand beside one of the four cylindrical skull buttons at spawn near quick revive and press them by holding all at the same time. A verbal countdown is almost essential for synchronisation and it’s highly advised that each person use the same button each time in the future in order to speed up the process of activating the eclipse/night-time/travelling to the past.
4. Three players must then proceed past the mudpit to the grassy area near the perks-a-cola machine where one shall stay and the other two go across the bridge to the grassy area near the pack a punch pressure pad. The fourth player proceeds to the mine-cart area and takes a right pressing an eclipse-type cylindrical button on the wall opposite the mine cart perks-a-cola machine [just to the left of the Pharo]. This will make 12 concrete slab stepping stones appear at each of the grassy areas players are now at.
5. The player that just pressed the button will now stand on one stone memorise the symbol/shape and then step off it. This player will then announce what he saw and the other 3 will start walking onto their stones to find it. Each time you complete a stone the symbols are randomised. When it has been found stay on it while the button presser stands back on his matching stone and it will disappear in both locations. The symbols/shapes that appear are listed below with descriptions.
venn-diagram – centre of a venn diagram / two arcs intersecting / double helix
Letter D – semi-circle shape / capital letter d
letter T – capital letter t with a line/nail across it
stitches – a long line with three lines across it
Three dots – three dots arranged in a triangle
female – female gender symbol
Divided circle – circle with a line across it
Dotted circle – circle with a dot in it
Moon – crescent moon
diamond – self explanatory
asterisk – self explanatory
triangle – self explanatory
Aternatively, here is a picture I used when I completed it:

Take care to not stand on any stones accidentally as this will reset your progress and all stones will reappear. Repeat this until all the stones are gone. After a few seconds; eclipse will end, time will return to present and a ding sound will play as crystal 1 will appear above the structure where the button was pressed. If not you have done something wrong, repeat the process.
PRESSURE GRATE / WATER SLIDE
6. Activate eclipse. Then all four players will proceed past the mudpit and to the waterfall slide on the left. Three players will then take it down and stand on the pressure grate near where they land. When all three players are on the grate the fourth will take the slide and hold (X) whilst looking slightly to their right and a third of the way down it a lever should be activated as a result. After a few seconds; eclipse will end, time will return to present and a ding sound will play as crystal 2 will appear. If not you have done something wrong, repeat the process.
ATTAINING SHRINK RAY
7. If no players have received the shrink ray from the box as yet you must survive up to the point that you can afford to hit the box repeatedly until a player gets it. The best way to do this is to camp in the power room by the spikemore wall. This will only work if the spikemore/m16 debris has not been cleared. One player should watch the window and floor on the right side near the power switch whilst one player should watch the other window near to the box. The other two players [ones with the best guns and most ammo] stand side by side between the box and the nearest window to the box and watch the entire left flank of the power room from which the bulk of zombies will appear. Farm points here by killing zombies with headshots and repairing windows. Lay trip mines in the neutral zone between the left and right side (beside where you buy trip mines off the wall) so that when you get in trouble you can fall back slowly and the trip mines will aid your retreat until you recover the upper hand. Create crawlers near the end of each round to easily spend your points on the box. All players should buy Juggernog now if they have not already. If no one has the shrink ray by about round 12 restarting the game is advised.
Specifically for the BO3 version: Have the 'Immolation Liquidation' gobblegum, which grants 3 Fire Sales. Using these will make it so much easier.
>>>DO NOT PROCEED until you have the shrink ray.
LARGE CRYSTAL
8. Activate eclipse. Proceed to the mudpit and turn left so you are facing the waterfall slide. Look up to the top of the waterfall and slightly to the right – you will notice a large ensnared crystal. Use an explosive such as frags/ray-gun on it in order to make it fall down. If using frags cook them so they explode right beside the crystal. Once the crystal falls to the ground shoot it with the shrink ray and it will become permanently smaller. Knife the small crystal into the slide and then follow it down. It will roll onto the geyser. Stand on the geyser to activate it which will jettison the crystal into the air and onto its pole. After a few seconds; eclipse will end, time will return to present and a ding sound will play as crystal 3 will appear above the bamboo trap archway between spawn and the mine-cart. If not you have done something wrong, repeat the process.
NAPALM ZOMBIE – most difficult step
This step can be extremely frustrating and requires seamless teamwork and communication in order to complete. It is by far the hardest of all the steps. My following strategy seems to work more or less perfectly time and again if executed correctly.
9. Kill your crawlers and return to your camping spot. Hold out until a napalm zombie spawns. When a napalm zombie takes enough damage he will die in a ball of fire and the napalm will burn a small area where he died for a few seconds damaging anything that touches it. Napalm zombies also die if you let them get too close to you - so stay far away from it at all times in order to keep it alive. He will occasionally spawn on the right side with the single player guarding the window in which case you all simply run away from him and shoot your way out up the left side. He will usually however spawn on the left side at the back of the firing line near the bowie knife. When this happens remain in your position killing zombies but taking care not to shoot at the napalm zombie. As soon as you can notice your screen go slightly blurred from heat move back until you are all four between the spikemores and right side window still killing zombies. Try to make a few crawlers now even if the wave is far from over. When he is between the box spawn and the left side window you just retreated from all together RUN and gun at the same time out up the right hand side past the power switches, past the perks-a-cola machine, past the bowie knife and out the exit then make a left and make sure all four of you take the geyser at the same time. You will be shot up into spawn.
10. Get to your assigned switch and activate eclipse quickly. Now is not the time to mess up synchronisation. Run past the bamboo trap to the mine-cart side - this can be difficult if you happen to get stuck in the bamboo. The second you make it through, cover the area behind you and your teammates still trying to get past it. Proceed with your team down the tunnel with two players covering the front and two players covering the back until you reach the valve beside the pack-a-punch pressure pad. Turn the valve anti-clockwise four times by holding and releasing while beside it and looking at it. There should now be a visible gas leak near the tunnel entrance, one further down beside the box spawn and mine-cart geyser, and two above the M16 beside the debris you didn’t open. Move back to the tunnel entrance and hold there until the napalm zombie becomes visible making his way from spawn towards the tunnel entrance. Note that if you don’t do this he will drop down the geyser behind you making ignition of all four gas leaks still possible just more difficult and forcing you to take him out of the tunnel then back down the geyser then to the m16 leaks. Assuming you have him coming slowly down the tunnel, keep your distance and stay alive. As soon as you can see the walls of the cave lighting up you can move back towards the geyser. When you make visual contact from the geyser/ak74 room the player with the shrink gun and the two with the second best guns should take the geyser out and leave the fourth player to lure him past the geyser/random box leak and then slowly back him down into the M16 leaks killing zombies and keeping yourself alive all the while. When he reaches the M16 room your inclination would be to open the debris but instead stand in the corner below the leak with your back right up against the debris. He will easily ignite the first leak above the M16 but only just ignite the fourth and final leak above your head as he reaches you and explodes. If you try to run past him at this point you will make him explode possibly without igniting the final leak so don’t chicken out.
11. With the fourth and final leak ignited your three teammates can come back down the tunnel and hold on the lever beside the valve and it will be pulled down. If you didn’t get lucky and survive your suicide mission they should now come revive you. After a few seconds; eclipse will end, time will return to present and a ding sound will play as crystal 4 will appear. If not you have done something wrong, repeat the process.
TRIP MINE (FORMER SPIKEMORES) WATERFALL
12. At least two players should buy two Trip Mines each off the wall near your camping spot for 1000 points. Activate eclipse. Proceed to the tunnel between the bridge and the waterfall. You will notice four holes in the walls of the tunnel. Stand up against the opposite wall facing a hole and aim your gun at it, without touching your aim at all switch to your trip mine and plant it. Repeat for all four holes. Note that if you plant a trip mine while aiming at the wooden beam between the two holes nearest the waterfall it will fill both holes with one spikemore. It is possible to camp in this tunnel with 2 players watching each side until the trip mines are tripped by zombies and all four holes are filled or simply lure your three or more crawlers there before activating eclipse as waiting for them to crawl to you in the tunnel to activate the trip mines will take too long during the limited eclipse. You will be able to clearly see a black bamboo shoot plugging up each hole when it has worked. With all four holes plugged quickly go to the waterfall and press the brick sticking out of the rock in the centre of it by holding even though it says don’t hold . If this is being done during a wave run back to your camping spot and create more crawlers at the end of the round to start the next steps. After a few seconds; eclipse will end, time will return to present and a ding sound will play as crystal 5 will appear. If not you have done something wrong, repeat the process.
GLOWING CONCRETE SLABS
13. Activate eclipse. The stepping stones from step3. are now scattered around the map. There are 12 in total. Players must activate all 12 in a timely manner by knifing the top half of the slab until it glows light blue. There is no specific order. The slabs’ locations are listed below.
spawn area and bamboo traps - 5 slabs
power room and adjacent geyser area - 3 slabs
mud-pit temple area - 2 slabs
mine-cart area - 2 slabs
14. Once all 12 slabs are activated go to the mine-cart. In the grassy area to the left that cannot be accessed there should be a trap. Throw an explosive such as a grenade/semtex/monkey-bomb at it. After a few seconds; eclipse will end and time will return to present - there is no crystal for this step. If not you have done something wrong, repeat the process.
MUDPIT DIALS
15. Whilst listening to radios is not necessary, it seems to prevent the easter-egg from reaching a standstill during step 18. so proceed to the mine-cart area in the present and locate the radio on the box to your right beside the mine-cart itself. Wait for the transmission to end. Activate eclipse. Proceed to the mudpit and locate the four large brown dials with gold symbols on them. Set each to its correct number by pressing near it to rotate the desired symbol into the top position on the dial. Each one has only one number from the sequence 1, 3, 4, 16. The symbols are explained below.
C = 10
| = 5
. = 1
dial # = number = description = code
dial 1 = 01 = one dot = .
dial 2 = 03 = three dots = . . .
dial 3 = 04 = four dots = . . . .
dial 4 = 16 = C, line and a dot = C | .
After a few seconds; eclipse will end, time will return to present and a ding sound will play as the 6th and final crystal will appear. During the present; the mine-cart radio should now have disappeared and another radio will appear on the circular stone rubble right beside the bottom of the pack-a-punch steps and water feature dragon statue on the right side. If not you have done something wrong, repeat the process. Wait for the transmission to end.
INFAMOUS DYNAMITE
16. Attain enough points to pack-a-punch the shrink ray [5000points]. Go back to the camping spot and play another round if necessary then create crawlers at the round’s end and proceed. One person must stand on each of the pack-a-punch pressure pads beside a spinning statue so that all four pads are depressed and all four partitions of the statue stop spinning. There is one at spawn, the end of the bridge, the power room and the fire/gas tunnel. The steps from spawn will now be open to pack-a-punch. Pack-a-punch the shrink ray before you get washed down the steps the star shaped stones on each side of the steps show how much time u have left – when they reach the top water will be released and you may lose your gun in the machine so make sure you have the person pack-a-punching the shrink ray on the spawn pad. With the pack-a-punched shrink ray you can now finish the easter egg.
17. Activate eclipse. Knife each of the gongs around the map in order to locate the ones which make a smooth singing sound rather than a cracking sound. If you knife it and the crystals turn red you have the wrong gong. Four gongs will ring a harmonic tune the other four are useless. Which gongs make what sound is random so you have to use trial and error to locate them. There are 8 gongs in total; 3 in the mine cart area + 1 at spawn + 3 near the mudpit + 1 on the far end of the bridge. When you have located the four gongs assign one to each player placing the person with the shrink ray and the person to catch the dynamite on the closest gongs to the mine-cart. Let eclipse expire.
18. Activate eclipse. All players should run to their gong and then knife them at the same time with an audible countdown over mics much like the one used to sync the eclipse buttons. All six crystals should now be glowing brightly with a pale yellowish colour and a treyarch-symbol-like aura. The person with the shrink ray must then use it to quickly shoot the crystal between the mine-cart and the bamboo trap [right beside where you land when you come up from the mine-cart geyser]. This crystal should have dynamite hanging off of it. When you shoot it with the shrink ray and the beam reflects/refracts back to it from crystal 1 the dynamite will be ejected off of the crystal pole and will fall to the ground between the pole itself and the rubble directly opposite it near the bamboo trap. A player must be standing in this position looking up at the dynamite in order to compensate for incorrect judgement and strafe to catch it before it hits the ground. The player catching it does not need to press anything. The dynamite must simply touch the player’s character before it touches the ground – much like the vodka bottle from cotd. When you have the dynamite it will be visible on your HUD in your inventory to the left of you ammunition readout much like the golden rod from cotd and that richtofen spawns with on Shangri-La. If not you have done something wrong, repeat the process.
FOCUSING STONE
19. If the crystals are still lit up and the gongs are ringing and you are still in eclipse mode then the person with the shrink ray must quickly shoot the crystal above the mud room visible from spawn [crystal 6]. If not, return to step 18.. The shrink rays should then reflect/refract around all six crystals culminating in amplification and dispersion at crystal 3 which ultimately results in the massive meteor above the pack-a-punch machine being shrunk into a stone.
20. Activate all four pack-a-punch pressure pads again. Take the stairs up to the wall behind where pack-a-punch used to be and wait for the dialogue to end then the person with the dynamite must pass it through to them by holding . If it disappears from your inventory you have successfully given them the dynamite. Pack a punch time will now run out and you will be washed downs the stairs. Eclipse will end and time will return to present. Eclipse cannot now be reactivated and doesn’t need to be.
21. Activate all four pack-a-punch pressure pads again. Take the stairs up to where the wall used to be and you will notice a glowing miniature version of the meteorite that was above pack-a-punch. That’s the focusing stone! Retrieve it by holding (X). The player that retrieves the stone will receive all seven perks permanently, not losing them even when downed or even when dead and respawned into the game! The other three players do not receive the perks however this entire process can now be repeated in order to award the other players the seven permanent perks.
22. Congratsss you just completed the longest blops zombie easter egg to date! (Back then anyway) Now see how long you can survive with our golden camping spot and a damn near invincible player... XD
[Note from MineTrapCraft] Wow, remember when this was so special? Now you just pop a Perkaholic and voilà. We did it on our playthrough, and combined with Shopping free and Immolation Liquidation it was a cake walk. Pretty sad actually
This trophy is for completing the entire Easter Egg for Shangri-La. Back when Black Ops I came out it was by far the hardest EE that anyone had ever played. However the newer maps for Black Ops III are much harder than this, so it isn’t too bad anymore. You will need 4 players to complete the EE, but luckily the trophy will pop for every player once completed!
First of all, because the map is pretty big and you need to explore a lot of areas, here is a map courtesy of codzombified.blogspot.ca
You will need a few things to complete the EE:
The toughest one to obtain is the 31-79 JGb215, also known as the Shrink Ray. It is needed for Step 4 as well as getting it Pack-a-Punched for Step 9 onwards. It can only be obtained by 1 player at any given time, and can only be obtained through the Mystery Box. So make sure you equip lots of Immolation Liquidation Gobblegums to get the best chance to get one!
You will also need a Napalm zombie for Step 5. They randomly spawn every few rounds, so if you see one do not kill it! You must also keep it in sight, as it can despawn.
The last things you will need are Tripmines for Step 6. They are located in the power room for 1000 points. You will need 4 total, so have at least 2 players buy them!
Here are the EE steps!
Step 0: Open the entire map and turn on the power.
I recommend having Shopping Free equipped so that you can open everything on round 1. The power room is the room underground in the centre of the map. There are 2 switches to activate and they are right next to each other on the northern side of the room.
Step 1: Activate Eclipse Mode.
You will have to do this for nearly every single step of the EE from now on, so you will have to repeat this very often.
In the spawn room right near Quick Revive, there are 4 buttons on the wall with skull icons on them. Each player must stand next to one and co-ordinate with each other to press on them at nearly the exact same time.
If it was done correctly, the screen will have a dizzy effect and it will turn into night time. If not, just try again. You are only in Eclipse Mode for a limited time, so if it reverts back to normal, you’ll have to redo the Eclipse. Also note that completion of almost every step will end Eclipse Mode, so use that to tell if you did a step properly!
Step 2: Complete the Matching Pairs Panel puzzle.
Make sure you’re in Eclipse Mode before starting this step. Once the Eclipse is activated, have 1 player go to the Mud Hallway area, and the other go to the Mining Cart area. In the Mining Cart area, there is a switch on the pillar opposite the tunnel entrance, it looks like the ones used for activating Eclipse Mode.
Once you activate it, a series of 12 panels will rise from the floor all around the area. 12 more will also spawn in the Mud Hallway area near the rope bridge.
The goal is to match pairs of panels together by standing on one, finding what symbol it is, then stepping off and calling it out to your partner. The other player will go and step on all his panels until he finds the corresponding one, then when he does, both players stand on the respective panel. If done correctly, both panels will disappear. Repeat this same strategy for all 12 panels on each side.
Here are all the different icons that show up, courtesy of the Call of Duty Wikia.
From left to right, I call them as follows:
Female symbol, Tally mark, Diamond, Asterisk
Moon, Circle with a line through it, Bullseye target, 3 Dots
Triangle, Letter D, Letter T, Parentheses intersecting
You can call them what you like, as long as your partner knows what symbol to look for!
If you make a mistake and step on a different one than the one your partner is on, it will reset the puzzle and randomize the icons. So just repeat until it’s done properly.
Once done correctly, a floating glass orb will rise above the pillar in the Mining Cart area.
Step 3: Activate the Water Slide Switch.
If Eclipse Mode ends between finishing the previous step and starting this one, make sure you reactivate it first!
This step is really easy. First of all, have 3 players go down the water slide and wait at the bottom without moving. The bottom of the slide is a pressure switch. Once the 3 players are down below, have the 4th player go down the slide while hugging the right side wall. Just before halfway down, you’ll hit a switch (no need to press anything). You’ll hear a sound if done properly. Right after they land at the bottom, Eclipse Mode will end, completing this step.
Step 4: Shrink the massive orb.
This step requires the Shrink Ray.
Activate Eclipse Mode and then head back to the top of the Waterslide. Above it, you’ll see a massive orb. You need to shoot it with a Ray Gun or an explosive weapon (grenades work too) to make it fall. Once it hits the ground, shoot it with the Shrink Ray and it will shrink.
Once it shrinks, knife it and it will fall down the slide. Follow it and it will go to a waterspout that leads to the Mining Cart area. Go up the spout with the orb and it will land on top of a tower. The Eclipse will end to show you did it correctly.
Step 5: Light the Gas with a Napalm Zombie.
You will need a Napalm zombie for this step! The Napalm Zombie doesn’t count as a regular zombie though, so rounds can advance while doing this step if you don’t keep another zombie alive. It’s still possible to do this step during a round, but it’s much easier when you don’t have to worry about other zombies trying to kill you.
First activate Eclipse Mode again, and then head to the Mining Cart area towards the tunnel. About halfway down the tunnel, you’ll see a lever on the wall and a valve you can turn. Turn the valve 4 times and you’ll see gas come out of the pipes above you, as well as hear characters talking. You will now need to escort the Napalm zombie down through the tunnel to set 4 gas leaks ablaze.
The gas leaks are located along the map all the way from the Mining tunnel entrance to the Power Room. Start at the tunnel entrance (which is where the first gas leak is), and make your way downward. The end of the tunnel has another gas leak. There is another one in the next room near the waterspout, followed by the final one just before the power room.
Once all 4 leaks are ablaze, head back to the tunnel where the valve was. You should see the lever in the up position, so hold on it and it will activate, ending Eclipse Mode and completing this step!
If Eclipse Mode ends before completing this step, you will have to reactivate Eclipse Mode, start the gas leaks via the valve again, and repeat this entire step again.
Step 6: Plug the Waterfall.
You will need 4 Tripmines for this step. Either have 2 players buy them, or have one player use 2 then buy two more. They are located in the power room, on the right side (when facing the power switches).
Activate Eclipse Mode again, and then head to the tunnel in the waterfall on the left side of the map. The tunnel curves to the left when heading down, and along the interior curve of the tunnel are 4 spots that you have to put Tripmines near. The first 3 spots have a blue glow to help show you where to put the Tripmines, but the final spot at the bottom does not have a glow.
What you need to do is get a zombie to set off the mine, at which point it will plug the hole in the wall. Once all 4 spots are plugged, head to the pool of water at the bottom of the tunnel (Note that if you kept the Napalm zombie alive, just use him to avoid doing a new round entirely as he can survive 4 tripmines).
On 1 side of the rock pillar is a brick wall that says “Do not press ” when you approach it. So press on it. Water will come down the waterfall and into the pool. If done correctly, the Eclipse will end and the step will be complete.
If the Eclipse doesn’t end, it means you must have missed a hole in the wall. So double-check that all of them are filled, you will see the mine stuck in the wall if you did it right. Then just reactivate the waterfall.
Step 7: Find the 12 symbols again.
As usual, activate Eclipse Mode again.
This step is similar to the match game puzzle you did in step 2, but much easier. You will need to find 12 stone slabs on walls around the map, and knife them all. They look exactly like the ones you stepped on in step 2. Once they are knifed, a symbol will show up on it. It does not matter which order you hit them, nor does the symbol that appears make a difference either.
Here are the locations of all 12 slabs:
- In the spawn, to the left of the stairs leading to PaP.
- In the spawn, on the wall inside the doorway to the Mud Hallway.
- In the spawn, directly behind you when facing the Mud Hallway.
- In the spawn, on the right side wall inside the doorway to the Mining Cart area.
- In the spawn, directly behind you when facing the Mining Cart area. Literally right in front of you if entering spawn from that area.
- In the Mining cart area, as soon as you enter the area from spawn, it’s in front of you.
- In the Mining Cart area, next to the gong near the Cart escape route.
- In the Power room, immediately next to the leftmost power switch.
- In the room connecting the Power room to the Waterfall area (the one with the waterspout leading to spawn), there is one along the wall by the entrance to the power room.
- In the same room as above, on the wall to the left of the thing that looks like an elevator shaft.
- In the Waterfall area, cross the rope bridge and it’s in the most northwest corner of the map, near a gong and a zombie window.
- In the Mud hallway, it’s next to the wheel in the southwest corner (when looking at the map, it’s the bottom left one).
The game will sometimes give you an audio cue if done properly. I've played through the EE a few times and never heard anything, but some others I've played with have heard the audio cue. Next, you’ll need to head to the Mining Cart area, right next to the Cart itself.
Standing on the ledge and looking outside the map towards the northeast, you will see a pile of sticks leaning on each other kind of like a tent. You need to throw a grenade or any other explosive weapon at it and it will fall apart. Once that is done, the Eclipse will end and this step is complete!
If the Eclipse ends before that point or you destroy the sticks without activating all slabs, you just need to redo the 12 slabs in Eclipse Mode again then throw another grenade at it.
Step 8: Activate the Mud Wheels.
Activate the Eclipse again, now head to the Mud Hallway. You need to rotate the 4 wheels with so that a certain icon is at the top of the wheel.
Using the map I posted at the start of this trophy, you’ll see there are 4 wheels in the northwest, northeast, southwest, and southeast spots. I will be using their cardinal directions in reference to the map to avoid confusion.
- Northwest: ([|-) Looks like a square bracket, followed by a vertical line, then a single dot.
- Northeast: (-) Just a single dot.
- Southeast: (- - - -) 4 dots in a line.
- Southwest: (- - -) 3 dots in a row.
If done correctly, your character will mention the numbers look correct, and the Eclipse will end. If the Eclipse ends beforehand, just redo the step. It’s very quick and easy.
Step 9: Pack-a-Punch the Shrink Ray.
This step is done in the present. The PaP machine is located up the steps from the spawn, but can only be accessed if all 4 players stand on specific switches to open the area.
Here are the switch locations:
- Spawn: Right next to Quick Revive.
- Waterfall area: Between the rope bridge and the tunnel entrance, near a zombie window.
- Power room: Between the power switches.
- Mining Cart area: About halfway down the tunnel in a small alcove.
Once all 4 players are on their switches, the statue near each switch will stop moving, this tells you that the PaP area is opening up.
Simply head back to spawn and up the stairs, then PaP the Shrink Ray to finish this step.
Step 10: Find the 4 gongs and get the dynamite.
The following 3 steps may need to be repeated if you fail at any point or let the Eclipse end too fast.
Activate Eclipse Mode.
You may have noticed gongs around the map, and you can knife all of them to make a sound. Of the eight gongs, 4 make a normal gong sound, and 4 make a weird sound that overlaps with the normal sound.
Your goal is to knife all the normal sounding ones without hitting any of the wrong ones. If you hit a wrong one, the orbs above will light up red, so use that to tell if you can’t hear the fairly obvious sound for the wrong ones.
Once you find the 4 correct gongs and knife them all in a row, the orbs above will light up yellow with a big Treyarch symbol floating on them.
The person with the PaP Shrink Ray needs to now go to the Mining Cart area. Look up at the orb closest to spawn, and you’ll see dynamite hanging from it. Shoot that orb with the Shrink Ray and a beam of light will bounce around and hit the same orb again, which will drop the dynamite. Make sure you hold to pick it up! If you miss it, you’ll need to wait until the Eclipse ends and retry it. You can tell that you have it if your character says so, as well as pressing the touchpad to view it in your inventory.
Step 11: Hit the gongs again and shrink the meteor.
Make sure you’re in Eclipse Mode, then activate the 4 gongs again with your knife to make the orbs light up (Note that if you're still in Eclipse Mode from the previous step, you do not need to hit the gongs again).
This time, shoot the orb directly above the Mud Hallway with the Shrink Ray. It should launch a yellow beam of light around the orbs until it hits the meteor on top of the temple, shrinking it.
Just 1 last step to finish the EE!
Step 12: Blow up the PaP area during the Eclipse and get the Focusing Stone!
While still in Eclipse Mode, activate the stairs to PaP (See Step 9 for details).
Then head up the stairs, and you’ll hear a fairly long conversation between the people trapped up top. They will ask for the Dynamite, so whoever has the dynamite needs to press on the wall to give it to them. If done correctly, the dynamite should disappear from your inventory, the Eclipse will end, and you get pushed down the stairs after time runs out.
Now the wall will be blown open, so you just need to activate the Eclipse 1 more time, then activate the PaP switches again.
Now simply head up the stairs and grab the stone to finish the Easter Egg!
The trophy will pop for all 4 players, and whoever picked up the stone will have every perk permanently until the game ends!
